Spotlight only showing results of 1 partition

I skipped lion and went from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion. I am using a 1tb External HD. If I type "screen shot" into spotlight, it only shows the files on 1 of the partitions (there are 4 partitions on the drive) The one thing I noticed is that if I open a file from one of the other partitions, after doing so, that file will now also show up in spotlight. So to sum it up, spotlight only shows files from 1 partition, and files from the other partitions I've opened since I updated to Mountain Lion

Re-index SpotLight
go into disk utility, select your OS X hard drive, click "repair disk permission". wait until it's done.
after that, go into terminal and type copy & paste:
sudo mdutil -E /
after that, terminal will prompt you for your password. type it in (no letters will actually appear but just type your password and press enter).
your spotlight index should then be recreated.

A php search engine that only shows results that match entire serch string

I have set up a dreamweaver search engine through php and a fulltext search (WHERE MATCH (....) AGAINST (...). However, when someone inputs more than one word into the search form, the search engine churns out results that only have one of those words. How do I get it to only show results that have all the search string words inside? (or, at least, how do I get those results to show up at the top?)
I have seen some advice (here) that uses php code to process the search query, divide up the words, and place a BOOLEAN '+' between each of the words. By doing this, the search engine will only show results that fully match all the terms.
My problem is that I do not know how to put this code into my Dreamweaver-created code.

Spotlight wont show results from the Library folder

Items in the Library folder inside my user folder don't show up as results when I search in Spotlight. Is there a reason Spotlight wont search that folder, and can I change it?

Yes, Apple added the home Library folder to the "system files" list--at least now although both are excluded by default, you can choose to include if you want in any particular search.
Open a search window with Command-F and setup your search. After the first criterion--the default is Kind--you'll see a plus button. Click it to add a new criterion, then click the drop down list and instead of what's there select "Other" and scroll down the list to "System files" and select it. If you want to be able to access this option without recourse to the Other list, put a check in the box for showing in the menu. The default value is "don't include" which is goofy in the extreme since you wouldn't have selected this option unless you wanted them included, as they are ALREADY excluded. Anyway, change the value to Include.

hi guys, i just want to show the result in my query:

PS: i have tried hide in "calculate single values" but values did hide though it shows the columns having blank values.

One way to suppress detail, and just display Result rows is ot use VBA code to hide rows and or columns. The BEx LEAF KF formula can be used to make it easy to identify Detail vs Result Rows and is one of the ways I use to distinguish which rows to hide, or you could check specific cell values to see if they contain "Result".

Spotlight not showing results of system Apps in Spanish

I'm using a Intel Core2Duo imac with 10.4.8 and 1 GB of RAM. I've been able to use the spotlight searchs for aplications from the beginings, but since 2 weeks ago I can't find any application of Apple Mac OS X which are in Spanish (for instance: "Preview" is "Vista previa", "Disk Utility" is "Utilidad de Discos").
If I want to find and launch "Vista previa" I have to write "Preview".
This is a problem I haven't before and I don't know how to solve. I've already re-indexed the entire volume. What else can I do?

Spotlight mp3 search results - showing song title only

Hi,
Since upgrading to 10.9 spotlight only shows the tag of the songs instead of the filename. this is really annoying.
Is there any way to fix this?

Try erasing Spotlight's index and then reindex the drive. Open Applications/Utilities/Terminal and copy and paste this into Terminal.

Only show subtotals (hide detail records)

Hey,
I have a very special 'need'. I hope I can explain myself.
In short: I have a query and I only want to see the subtotals.
I have a DSO with the following relevant fields.
CITY, DATE, ORDERNR, CONSTANT, COUNT (= 1 for every order)
In my rows I add CITY and DATE
In my columns, I add
- KF: COUNT
- CKF: TOTAL --> SUMCT(COUNT)
- CKF: CALC --> COUNT/TOTAL*CONSTANT
CALC in words: The number of orders a day, divided by the total number of orders of a city, multiplied by a constant.
I want a report that shows for every CITY the cfk CALC.
So for every city the sum of CALC values.
So I want to lose the division by DATE. However, when I remove DATE from the rows, my TOTAL isn't right anymore. Beacause I need subtotals for every DATE, If i drop the date my TOTAL is the overall total.
So I was hoping there is a way to hide the detail lines, so that only my subtotals are visible. Something like the collapse of an ALV report.
Any other suggestions are appreciated.

One way that we have done this in the past is to use a VBA macro to hide all rows where the value <> "Results", then hide the column that only shows "Result". You can use the Tools -> Macro -> Record New Macro function in Excel to get pretty close to the code needed for this.

Outlook 2013 Advances search only shows cached emails

Hi all,
We have rolled out Outlook 2013 with cache mode on, we have set caching to only one month of data. We are using Outlook 365 as our exchange server.
Quick search works as it should and shows all the results. However, advanced find only shows results from the cached emails. IE nothing older than a month. I have run a re-index etc but still have had no joy. Is there something I am missing?

Turn Spotlight Suggestions on and off a few times. If it still doesn't work try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds till your iPad starts on it's own.
I'm using a iPad but I can't see that making a difference.

Getting Spotlight "Show All" window to only show emails

In Spotlight's "Show All" window (the same one you get when you Command-F from the Finder) there's a way to select what kind of things you want to see. However, for some reason the "Kind" list doesn't include "Mail Messages". It has "Applications", "Documents", "Folders", etc. but nothing to find emails. I notice that if I choose kind "Other" and type "Mail" in the box, I do see email messages, but it's odd that emails aren't in the list. Anybody know if it's possible to modify the set of things that shows up in the "Kind" list so I can find emails more easily?

Weird. My "Kind" list is Any, Applications, Documents, Folders, Images, Movies, Music, PDF, Presentations, Text, Other.
I tried enabling and disabling various kinds in the Spotlight preferences pane. Although that changed the set of results (as you'd expect) it had no effect on the set of items shown in the "Kind" list.
Wonder what's happening here?

Strange TREX behavior: Document search only shows 15 results

Hi.
I've one TREX implementation. It's connected to a SAP eLearning repository in a Portal and no matter what search criteria I use, it always returns me a list of 15 found resutls!
It's always the same number, for different searchs, and of course I've checked that there are more than 15 right resutls, so it looks to me like a parameter restriction or something like this, but I still havent found it.
Do any of you know what could be causing this??
Any help would be really really appreciated.

the reason that the portal shows every time only 15 results can depend on the used KM Layout Set.
Within the KM layout Set which is assigned to the search result iView you can specify the number of rows and whether a page link sould appear or not.
Normally the default Layout Set should work properly.
But you can as well use the search command in the standalone tool TREX-Admin. Here you can see the number of results as well.

I did get exactly.....but if i m right then you can do this by selecting the keyfigure goto the calculation tab select calculate result as sum or whatever you want to use.

In BeX Workbook, I can hide the rows but they grow or shrink dynamically and hence it is unpredictable how many rows to suppress.

VBA coding can be used to display just the Result rows.
Somthing like this - modify as needed.
This scans the range of query results looking to find the last row, then checks those rows to see if the word Result is found or not, deleting (or you could just hide) the detail rows. There is also a LEAF option in BEx Boolean options that returns a 1 or 0 depending on whether a row is a detail or result that could also be used to hide rows rather than looking for the presence of "Result" in a particular column

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
2. Run Software Update and make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
11. Reset the NVRAM.
12. Reset the SMC.
13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Preferences/Audio
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.
