Spry fields validations

SUBMIT PROBLEM
I have a webpage in a .cfm (ColdFusion) format to be used in
a form. There are some Spry fields in it, like a validation text
field.
But I have some problems:
When the user enters a wrong email format, the form does not
do a submit. The form is good, but there is not any error message
to show the user that the entered email address is not correct
(Current error message is only for empty field).
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem?
Thanks

  • CS4 Spry field validation - CS3 files?

I designed a form in CS3.  I am now working in CS4 so I was getting a Spry error message - about outdated code.  I reentered all the validation fields but now the error messages show in the form when it is launched.  I realized my Spry folder of files is the original ones from CS3.  How do I get the new files I need?  I have run this through the validator and fixed everything I know how to fix - even though that isn't all of it!
    files are http://streitenterprises.fatcow.com/contact/index.html

Thanks, I actually found that article earlier and it also reads:
"This extension updates Dreamweaver CS3 to use the Spry 1.6.1 assets for its current features. The extension also updates code hinting and code coloring to reflect the latest updates in Spry 1.6.1. The Spry Updater includes a command that provides the ability to update the Spry assets in your site(s). This extension only updates existing Spry files in Dreamweaver CS3 and those used in your sites. It does not add any additional functionality (widgets, etc) to the product."
I updated to version 1.6.1 long ago.  The updater only applies to built-in CS3 widgets - it doesn't ADD new widgets that have come out since CS3 (unless I'm completely missing something here).  What I'm looking for is to add widgets that I don't have in CS3, kinda like adding extensions.  Am thinking one must purchase CS4 to get the four additional widgets it provides?
"CS4 also adds four new Spry wizards to 13 available in CS3. These are the Spry Validation Password, Spry Validation Confirm, Spry Validation Radio Control Group, and Spry Tooltip."
I'm want those without having to upgrade to CS4!

  • Function to call spry textfield validation

    Hi every body.
    I've a question for you.

I put some text in a textfield using PHP, the validation is only maked when I click the text field, or when  the user press a key, but how to make a function to do the validation after I put data on textfield.

  • UI Datepicker and Spry textfield Validation

Hi, I am having a problem with using the UI Date picker and Spry textfield Validation together. I have created a sample form: 2 input boxe, the test box has the datepicker and spry validation and test2 has the date picker only, one submit button and some php code that echos the boxes values on submit.
My date picker is date formated as 'yy-mm-dd' for four digit year.  My spry validation is formated 'yyyy-mm-dd' with validate on submit.
Now when I click on the test input box the datepicker comes up normally and i select a date. I then select the date on test2. Once I click the submit button the test field with spry validation come back saying a value is required and nothing else happens.
I was playing around and trying other things to get it to work and I noticed that when I select the test inputbox and the calander pops up if I enter some numbers into the text box then select a date from the datepicker then enter a date in the test2 inputbox and hit submit it works.
So it appears to me that the validation is not reading anything in the test field when I just select a date.  Why is that?  When I select a date it shows a date in the inputbox.  It makes it hard to use the datepicker on a form.
Any help would be a preciated.  Code is below.
    Thanks Winrol
    <?php echo "Test box 1 value = ". $_POST['test']. "<br/>" ?>
    <?php echo "Test box 2 value = ". $_POST['test2'] ?>

  • Spry textfield validation

Hi, how can I modify this code for the spry textfield validation.js file? My text field is set to yyyy-mm-dd.  When I enter a date and hit the submit button all works well but, how can I modify this portion of the .js file so the date yyyy-mm-dd is not less than today's date?

Excellent, thank you, that will get me in the right
    direction. Its not
100%, but I think I can tinker with an expression to get what
    I want.
    The number is couldn't handle is +44 (0)113 255 7666 but its
    not an
approved format anyway, but lots of companies still do it
    this way, so I
want to ensure I get it right.
    Thanks again!

  • Conditional Spry Confirm Validation

    Hi Chaps,
I know there are a few of these threads about, however, the answers usually point to a 404 webpage.
I'm after a conditional Spry Confirm Validation Text Field.
E.G. if a user decides to change a password, the (required) confirm validation comes into effect.
If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would help me out.
    Many thanks

  • Formatting SPRY Fields

I've got a nice XML stream coming into my page that uses SPRY
to read the XML and present the data. My problem is this...or
should I say these, If I get in a data field that has time in it or
a numeric field that I want to convert to currency I'm not having
any luck. I tried JSTLs fmt: commands but it appears that there's
precedence issue and the value of the SPRY field has not yet
returned so I'm dealing with the {DATE_FIELD} string rather than
    the {DATE_FIELD} value of day 01/17/2006 11:24:57. Obviously I've
tried setcolumn for the date but that doesn't affect the output to
    the screen.
I know SPRY has added validation but is there a format
library on the way or other work around?
    Thanks,
    Chris

An alternative to the region observer is to use an onPostLoad
observer on the data set containing the dates ... this is probably
a better approach since you only do the formatting once, whereas
the region approach will do it every time the region is
    re-generated.
Here's a link that shows you how to register a data set
    observer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/data_region/DataSetObserver.html
And here's a somewhat overly-complicated example of how to
access/modify/add columns in a data set:

  • Spry alphanumeric validation

I'm trying to have a spry text field valid on alphanumeric
values, which I know is 'Custom' 'y', but how do I validate any
length? I want to have a spry text field that has a value that is
    alphanumeric of any length.

You can build your own custom validations with Spry.
    var custom = new Spry.Widget.ValidationTextField("id", "custom", {
         validation: function( value, options ){
              return /[a-z]/gi.test( value ); // your validation

  • Change "isDate" field validation format?

    Hi,
to attach the format depending on the country selection, I
think is a little more difficult to be done, is not enough only to
declare a new widget constructor in page and then to access it.
To have this behavior, is need to call addEventListener
function when the onchange event is triggered. It should be
    something like this:
    Spry.Widget.Utils.addEventListener('country_id', 'onchange',
    function(e) {
// here you should get the selected country
// then you should destroy the initial validation object that
    hadn't a format attached
//and finally you should declare a new validation object that
contains the format according the country you selected.
I didn't tested if the solution above works, but I think this
is the approach for getting the behavior you want.

  • Trying to create a Field Validation Expression and need help

I have a picklist field and another field that are in question. I want to set some sort of rule that forces the second field to be populated only If specific values are selected from the picklist field.
I was going the route of a field validation Rule, but everything i've tried so far does not produce the results i am trying to achieve.
The first type of expression i tried was:
([<plProduction_Print_Account_Category_ITAG>] <> LookupValue("OCC_CUST_LOV_ACCOUNT_1", "No Production Print") AND ([<stSIC_Code_ITAG>] IS NULL))
This is generating the field validation error message when i select any of the correct values from the picklist. the problem is still the second field, which will generate the error if a value is entered into the second field, regardless of the picklist value selected. Switching the "IS NULL" to "IS NOT NULL" only reverses the problem on the second field, causing the error to generate when the second field is updated to a NULL or blank value.
    I also tried :
= 'No Production Print' AND [<stSIC_Code_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL
    and got similar results.
    ([<plProduction_Print_Account_Category_ITAG>] = LookupValue("OCC_CUST_LOV_ACCOUNT_1", "No Production Print"))
    Similar results as well.
Does this need to be an IIF statement? Do I need to make this a workflow expression instead? i could really use some help as I have tried everything i can think of and admit, i'm not the expression guru!!!. Any assistance would be appreciated.
    TeknoMan

Yes we have the same request and we used the following expression. Example we have a field "Método de pago" ( [<plMtodo_de_pago_ITAG<]), it's values are "CHEQUE and DEPOSITO" if we select DEPOSITO three more fields were requiered Route, Sucursal de banco and Clabe so we have to put this validation in the four fields including Metodo de pago.
[<plMtodo_de_pago_ITAG>] <> "DEPOSITO" OR ([<Route>] IS NOT NULL AND [<nSucursal_de_banco_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL AND [<stCLABE_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL)
well in the field CLABE we put the following [<plMtodo_de_pago_ITAG>] <> "DEPOSITO" OR ([<Route>] IS NOT NULL AND [<nSucursal_de_banco_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL AND [<stCLABE_ITAG>] IS NOT NULL AND Len([<stCLABE_ITAG>])=18) this was because the len of the value must be 18 characters.
I hope this works for you

  • How can I do field validation on the last two characters of a text field?

I have a text field. The user is required to enter the last two characters as numbers. I want to apply validation on this field. How can i achieve the same?
EX: If the user enter ABCDE, an error messgae stating the last two digit should be numeric.
I tried using the below in the field validation which did not work.
    (0+Right([<ExternalSystemId>],2)) > 0 AND (0+Right([<ExternalSystemId>],2)) < 99.
    Any ideas would help?

    Try this-

  • Mandatory field validation on Page links.

We have created a Portal application where we included different applications as taskflows. We have also created a tabbed interface which helps us to communicate from one task flow to another taskflow. When we are in one page of taskflow and try to move to another page of different taskflow using tabbed interface we receive mandatory field validation error which prevents us to move to any other page until we fill all the mandatory fields. We need to move to different page of taskflow by using the tabbed interface even without filling all the necessary mandatory fields. Can anyone help us to resolve this issue as this is very important for our project.

  • Field Validation on Read Only Field

I'm trying to create a pop up error box if a field contains null values. The problem is that the field I'm trying to do the validation on is a read-only field. It's the Account field on the Contact Object or Module. It won't allow me to include validation. The goal here is to have a POP UP ERROR box come up if someone does not select a value for that field. Making it required doesn't generate a popup box, it only has a small "required" text next to the field which can be easily missed by a user. Any ideas?

    Hi !
I found the way to do what you wan't, but it sounds a bit strange for me...
You have to put a field validation on the Account Id field. I made some tests to know what is in the AccountId field when it's blank and i see that the value is "No Match Row Id" !!
So your validation rule must be simply
    *&lt;&gt; "No Match Row Id"*
It worked for me, the error message appears... But I think this is something we have to report to Oracle...
Hope this will help, feel free to ask more !

  • Field validation - make field required based on value of another field

    Hi,
I tried to enter the field validation into both LeadSource and stSource_Detail field, however, when the LeadSource is not "Customer" or "Staff" and Source Detail is not empty, the validation message will prompt. Below is my field validation:
    IIf(([<LeadSource>]=LookupValue("OCCAM_LEAD_SOURCE", "Customer") OR [<LeadSource>]=LookupValue("OCCAM_LEAD_SOURCE", "Staff")) AND [<stSource_Detail_Staff_ID__Customer_ID_ITAG>] IS NULL,N,[<stSource_Detail_Staff_ID__Customer_ID_ITAG>])

Field Validation statements must return only TRUE or FALSE. Rewrite your statement such that if your condition is valid, true is returned, and if not, false is returned.

  • Field Validation on Custom Obj. 4:  Value of one field making other Req.

    Hello All,
I have been working on a field validation problem for a while. I have a custom Picklist on CO4. This picklist has two values YES and NO (a checkbox does not meet requirements). What I need to do is If Picklist='YES' then FieldA, FieldB, and FieldC are Required else they are not required. FieldA = Text (short), FieldB = Date, and FieldC = Currency. I've tried numerous ways to validate on Fields A, B, and C with statements like IIf(Picklist=LookupValue(Picklist,"YES"),FieldA<>NULL,FieldA) or IIf(FieldValue(Picklist)="YES",FieldA<>NULL,FieldA) etc... these were just my latest attempts at this point I'm jsut trying random things to try to get it working. I am probably using incorrect syntax (even though it passes the sytax checker). If anyone has any suggestion let me know. Also if I haven't made clear what it is I'm attempting to do let me know and I'll try to clarify.
    Thanks,
    Z

    Hi,
if I understand correctly, you want this functionality:
If Picklist = NO => it doesn't matter what values are contained in Field A, B and C.
If Picklist = YES => Field A is not null and Field B is not null and Field C is not null
To trigger the validation when the picklist value changes then you have to configure the Field Validation for the Picklist:
    [<Picklist>]=LookupValue("Picklist","NO") OR ( Len([<Field_A>])>0 AND Len([<Field_B>])>0 AND Len([<Field_C>])>0 )
You have to put the validation also on Field_A and Field_B and Field_C, because in case of an update of , let's say, Field_B, you should prevent that Field_B is blanked.
If someone updates only Field_B and he doesn't change the value of the Picklist, the validation expression put on the Picklist is not evaluated.
