Spry Form Validation doesn´t with PHP

Hi guys!
Houston, I have a problem!
Description:
I used a validation form for an e mail text field that works on .html file but not on a .php file.
What I did?
1.       I created my .html file and code all the Spry Valitation Form. If you test it, it works. This is the testing site link:
a.      http://www.rayacosta.com/clientes/pparquitectura/v1/contactoT.html
b.      The e mail field it´s the one that I’m validating.
2.      I created 2 include files from the first one. One with the header info in header.php and another called footer.php. I need to use PHP to generate the form, so I thought it was the best way to go.
3.      I create a contato.php file with:
a.      header.php (here I included the links for the Spy Assets)
b.      footer.php (with the footer info).
4.      Here the file just doesn´t work. This is the link:
http://www.rayacosta.com/clientes/pparquitectura/v1/contacto.php
5.      Any clues? I understand that Dreamweaver doesn´t show the Spry UI in the php file. But it supposed to be compiled correctly on the browser agent. The other files just work fine, but not this contact form.
6.      In Dreamweaver, if you see at the header.php file, the link to the js file is not totally brown like in its html version.
I really appreciate some light in this matter.
Thanks in advanced,
Ray

Two possibilities that I can see.
1: Your HTML code has some JavaScript right near the bottom. This appears to be related to the Spry Validation of the email field. This same script does not seem to be in the PHP file.
2:  Are the "header" and "footer" in the same folder as the contact page? If not (ie: if in an "files" or "includes" folder") the path to the spry files in the header would be wrong.
For example, if the header file is one folder deep, change this:
"_spryAssets/SpryValidationTextField.js" to  "../_spryAssets/SpryValidationTextField.js"
When you view source when looking at a page, you can see the page as it is generated. Quite often it will reveal what is missing.
Good luck.

  • Help with conditional Spry Form Validation

    Hi,
    I am creating some validation for this form and need some help.
    Need to require a finish to be selected if a qty is selected and visa versa.
    I have got this part working but can't get it to destroy the validation if the qty/finish is added and then removed.

    Hi there I have another question about lists with recordset and php.
    Here is my example:
    <ul>

    <li>Help my soul.</li>
    <li>Please have a wonderfull life.</li>
    <li>Do you want another.</li>
    <li>Will you assist me with.</li>
    <li>Let us go now.</li>
    </ul>
    I have all these lines of text in one table all in rows in my mysql database they all have an id, I need it to display it on my website as my example above, not sure where to start because all the examples i have seen are nested lists can anybody help. When I create my recordset and use the repeat region I get "  Let us all live.Help my soul.Please have a wonderfull life.Will you assist me with.Let us go now."
    here is my code

    Regards

    Just change this:
    <div id="content"><?php do { ?>
              <?php echo $row_rsSwiftPOStableFeatures ['discribtion']; ?>
              <?php } while ($row_rsSwiftPOStableFeatures = mysql_fetch_assoc($rsSwiftPOStableFeatures)); ?>
          </div>
    To this:
    <div id="content"><ul><?php do { ?>
         <?php echo "<li>".$row_rsSwiftPOStableFeatures['discribtion']."</li>"; ?>
         <?php } while ($row_rsSwiftPOStableFeatures = mysql_fetch_assoc($rsSwiftPOStableFeatures)); ?>
    </ul>
    </div>
    Also I highly recommend reading up on the basics of PHP programing to understand these things because while DW gives you a good starting point, once you want to grow from that you will need to further understand the code.

  • PLEASE help with server-side form validation using PHP!!!

    I feel like im going round and round in circles with this, after looking into all sorts of server-side advice i've come to the conclusion that i want to validate my form using server-side validation with PHP.
    So my form has several drop down menu's and  textareas  (not all of them need validation). For the part of my form i would like to validate, all i want is the drop downs to have to be changed/selected. So just a simple message like "You must select an option" if customers haven't done so. For the textareas, they just need to be filled out, so a message like "Information required" to come up if customers haven't done so.
    I believe i need to create a PHP page say for example 'error.php' place  the validation code in there and set this part of the the form to -
    <form name="product"form action="error.php" method="post" class="product_form">
    BUT im getting really confused with creating the code for the error.php. Please please can anyone help me with this!!!???
    Here are the drop down menu's i need validation on, error message being "You must select an option",
    "figurine"
    "engraving"
    "font"
    and here are the textareas that need validating, error message "Information required",
    "test"
    "Name"
    "house"
    "line_1"
    "line_2"
    "county"
    "postcode"
    "tel"

    Great thats good enough for me. In that case, would you please be able to help me create the javascript for the above validation?? If you could just help me create it for this page i can amend it for all the other pages. I'd really really appreciate it!!!
    Can you follow the below example?? Obviously AFTER validation has been successful you need to collect the information from the form and send it to the recipient email address...that's where you can use php. I'll check back tomorrow and see how you are doing.

  • Create HTML Contact Form with PHP script

    Hi Everyone
    I have designed a contact form in HTML with PHP script but it doesn't seem to be working. The PHP echo message doesn't appear after I submit the form and the e-mail message is not delivered.  The url address is http://www.dreamaustraliastudytours.com.au/Test/ContactUs.html. Any thoughts would be greatly apprecipated
    Thank you in advance

    Hi Ben and Murray
    Thank you for your input on the php script. You nailed the problem on the head. I have up dated the script  and provided it below. I have one more question.
    After the end user submits the form I would like them to be directed to another html file - for example successful.html. Would the code be
    $insertGoTo = "successful.html";
    delete 'Thank you for contacting us. We will be in touch with you very soon.'?
    Once again thank you for your advice

  • Problem with PHP not working and Extra space in form I can't get rid of

    This is my first time doing a form, much less using php. I would appreciate your help on the problems below.
    1. in the form when you go to the website there is too much vertical spacing between the form fields.
    2.the Message field has script inside that vistors can see.
    3. on hitting the submit button it redirects me to a blank page and not the thankyou.html page that I had created.
    4. the form doesn't send the email to [email protected]

    The below should work for you.
    As Jon points out the page has to be a .php page NOT a .html page.
    The idea is that the page gets sent back to itself and the form information is processed then sent to the email address if there are no errors detected.
    The unusual gaps in the form were being caused by unclosed tags amongst other things - hopefuly I put some of it right for you.
    Copy all of the below and save it as contact.php - Obviously your server needs to support php for it to work, most do. I have not specified your email address in the php as it attracts spam from the forum so re-instate it where the xxxxxxx are.
    <?php
    if (array_key_exists('submit', $_POST)) {
    // check name field
    $name = trim($_POST['name']);
    if (empty($name)) {

  • Problem with coding a spry form to email

    I have presented the problem before and am still unable to resolve the issue.
    I have spry forms that are sent by email and the data is partially displayed. The text area id will display, but the content of some of the fields will not display the data input.
    Here's an example of the form:
    <form action="events_form.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" name="eventregistration1" target="_parent" id="eventform1">
        <table width="400" border="0" cellspacing="0px" cellpadding="5px">
          <tr>
            <td><span id="sprytextfield1">
              <input name="registrantsname" type="text" id="registrantsname" tabindex="1" value="" size="50" maxlength="50" />
              <span class="textfieldRequiredMsg">This information is required.</span></span></td>
          </tr>

    Here's an example of what's being returned to me;
    Customer name:
    Contact Name:
    Email Address:
    Event: MMCC
    Date of Event: 12/12/12
    Event time start:
    Event time end:
    Location: Indianapolis
    Company or Organization Name: Green With Indy, Inc.
    Office Telephone:
    Cell Telephone:
    Event description: A heck of a good time.
    To see the actual form go here: http://www.greenwithindy.com/eventsregistration.php
    It's a coding issue that apparently my eyes are to tired to see. If you could provide an example of what a line of code should be, I would appreciate your help with this.
    Thank you,
    GWalton55

    I think the problem may be events_form.php.
    If you require further assistance, please post the code.

  • David Powers --- Regarding form validation with dreamweaver behaviors

    I am in the chapter teaching about form validation with the Zend Framework. I have done the entire lesson with the lesson files and everything works perfectly...
    but I went back to use the form valdation techniques for my own site and it is not working properly. In the book, Chapter 6 teaches how to create a user login and editing the database through the site. But in chapter seven the form validation does not build on top of this and therefore does not teach how to integrate the form validation with the registered user already set up.
    I have user registration completly working on my site and everything runs fine. I am trying to add the form validation but it is all completly ignored. When I leave a field blank it simply takes me to another blank page that reads "Column 'first_name' cannot be null"

This is for a school project and I can't move on until this is resolved! Thank you so much for trying!

    I replaced some code here to protect myself, but the library.php file is completely functional and has been tested... I am sure the problem ins't in here.
    Please let me know if you need any further code to help you out. I am brand new to PHP and so far everything has ran smoothly up til now. I have my Zend Framework uploaded to my server and tested that my site is connecting to it properly. Any help on this would be so so awesome! This is for a school project and I can't move on until this is resolved! Thank you so much for trying!
    You can also view the issue at my website... all the files have been uploaded to the server. www.CSSU.com

  • Form Validation against database - Dreamweaver CS4 Spry

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to figure out how to implement a form validation
    of some fields, let's say a username. I have a form that inserts on
    MySQL table, and when the user is typing the username, after it
    looses the focus on field, validate it if there is a record on
    table with the specified username. If so, validation will fail.
    I already saw something similar with this on Dreamweaver MX
    using some extension (because at that time, it did not support
    ajax).
    Kind regards, and thanks in advance.

    I don't have a solution, but you may try posting in the Spry
    Forums, you might get a better response.

  • Need help with PHP contact form

    Hi guys,
    I've made a PHP contact form for my site and need help with a couple of things:
    The form action links an external PHP script (scripts/contact-form-script.php) but is there a way I can have it so the PHP script for the form is contained within the same PHP file as my contact form (contact.php)?
    I tried just putting the form code at the top of contact.php but the browser automatically reads the anti-spam re-direct, so maybe that needs revising too?
    The second thing is, how can I make the Name, Email and Message fields mandatory? So if a user tries to submit the form and hasn't filled in one of the required fields and clicks submit, contact.php reloads with a message at the top of the form saying something like 'Complete the required fields' and highlights the relevant field with a red border?
    Here's the code for contact.php:
    <form action="http://www.mydomain.com/scripts/contact-form-script.php" method="post" name="contact" id="contact">
    <p><strong>Name:*</strong><br />
    <input name="name" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>E-mail:*</strong><br />
    <input name="email" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Telephone:</strong><br />
    <input name="telephone" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Company:</strong><br />
    <input name="company" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Address:</strong><br />
    <input name="address1" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><input name="address2" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Town:</strong><br />
    <input name="town" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>County:</strong><br />
    <input name="county" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    p><strong>Postcode:</strong><br />
    <input name="postcode" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>
    <p><strong>Message:*</strong><br />
    <textarea name="message" cols="55" rows="8" class="ctextField"></textarea></p>
    <p><input name="submit" value="SEND MESSAGE" class="submitButton" type="submit" /><div style="visibility:hidden; width:1px; height:1px"><input name="url" type="text" size="45" id="url" /></div></p>
    </form>
    And this is the PHP I'm using to submit the form data for contact-form-script.php:
    <?php
    $headers .= "Reply-To: " . $_POST["email"] . "\r\n";
    $to = "[email protected]";
    $subject = "Contact from website";
    $message = $headers;
    $message .= "Name: " . $_POST["name"] . "\r\n";
    $message .= "E-mail: " . $_POST["email"] . "\r\n";

  • PHP Contact Form Validation - HELP!

    Hello,
    I've created my contact page on my website but I'm not happy with the validation and im getting emails through which are empty and with no contact details??
    Could someone please help me!
    This is my php code which is linked to my html page
    <?php
      $name = $_REQUEST['name'] ;
      $email = $_REQUEST['email'] ;
      $message = $_REQUEST['message'] ;
        mail( "[email protected]", "MDS2010 Enquiry",
        $message, "From: $email" );
      header( "Location: http://www.mammothdesignstudios.com/thanks.html" );
    ?>
    I have just used spry for validation but realise this is not the best way to go.
    Could someone view my code www.mammothdesignstudios.com/contact_us.html
    I'd really appreciate someones help on this,
    Thank you!

    You can create a simple validation as below:
    $error = array();
    if (empty($_REQUEST['email'])) {
         $error[] = "The email is empty";
    .... add any other validations u want.
    Then add this
    //check no errors
    if(!$error) {
         mail( "[email protected]", "MDS2010 Enquiry", $message, "From: $email" );
    Thus will prevent email to be send if there's any error occurs.
    On html page u can add this if u want.
    <p>
         <?php if ($error) {
                echo '<ul>';
                    foreach ($error as $alert) {
                    echo "<li>$alert</li>\n";
                echo '</ul>';
          } ?>
    </p>

  • Problems with php script in the contact form

    Hello, I am from the Czech Republic and I am not a coder. I have 2 problems with my php sript. I am using a simple php script from Paul Trani, see below.
    Firstly the email adress - when someone inserts an email adress in this form [email protected] it is OK, but when someone writes an address for example [email protected] (this type of adress is very common in our country) the answer is "That is not a valid email address.  Please return to the previous page and try again." I think the problem is the dot before the @.
    Secondly diacritical marks - Since I am from the Czech Republic we use diacritical marks (for example š,č,ř,ž,á,í,é,ě) so instead of this letters a get ? or Å&#153; or Å¡ to my email.
    I really do not know how to fix these problems.
    Thank you for any help. Sorry for my English. Peter

    ereg() has been deprecated, it is recommended that you dont use it.
    You want to look at this
    http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.preg-match.php
    Within this page I found this:
    If you need to check for .com.br and .com.au and .uk and all the other crazy domain endings i found the following expression works well if you want to validate an email address. Its quite generous in what it will allow
    <?php
            $email_address = "phil.taylor@a_domain.tv";
         if (preg_match("/^[^@]*@[^@]*\.[^@]*$/", $email_address)) {
             return "E-mail address";
    ?>

  • PHP Form Validation and Radio Group

    Hi David,
    I'm trying to set the initial state of a radio group to none.
    Please look at the file http://ecopethandbags.com/contact.php. The initial state is set to "No"
    In Dreamweaver, I've set the initial state to "Unchecked"
    I don't understand the code for the radio buttons in my file (see attachment).
    What I am trying to do is to have the radio group initially unchecked but required.
    I have 2 questions:
    1) - How can I control the initial status of the radio group when I use the PHP form validation?
    2) - How can I set the validation so, when one of the radio buttons is not checked by the user, a warning flag like "Please make a choice" comes up.
    Thank you much!

    Just change the following section of code:
    <?php
    if (!$_POST || isset($missing) && $_POST['subscribe'] == 'n') {
      echo 'checked="checked"';
    } ?>
    Remove the !$_POST || like this:
    <?php
    if (isset($missing) && $_POST['subscribe'] == 'n') {
      echo 'checked="checked"';
    } ?>
    The checked="checked" will be inserted into the code only if the form has been submitted, but neither radio button has been selected.

  • PHP Form Validation and Insert Records

    Hi There,
    I've been scratching my head for 2 days and couldn't find a solution.
    Here is my problem:
    Go to http://ecopethandbags.com/contactTest.php and click the "Send Comments" button.
    You will see that the validation works.
    Now, go to http://ecopethandbags.com/contactTestInsert.php, this time, I've inserted the "Insert Record" server behavior.
    Click the "Send Comments" button again.
    You will see the ugly message like "Column 'firstname' cannot be null" in a plain white page.
    My question is:
    How can I insert the PHP form records in my database and take advantage of the form validation nicely like in http://ecopethandbags.com/contactTest.php
    I am attaching the files.
    Thank you for you help!

    Use simple PHP logic to merge the scripts together.
    Dreamweaver automatically puts the Insert Record server behavior code at the top of the script. You need to adapt it so that the validation is done first. If the validation succeeds, use the Insert Record server behavior. If not, redisplay the form.
    if (array_key_exists('send', $_POST)) {
      // validate the form input
      if (!$suspect && empty($missing)) {
      // send the mail
        if ($mailSent) {
        unset($missing);
        // insert the Insert Record server behavior code here
