SQL Developer 1.51.5440 Font Settings

Hi,
In my other editors & dev tools, I set the font to Lucida Console 11. It looks OK. However, SQL Developer 1.51.5440 seems to interpret font seting differently:
- Lucida Console size 14 looks like size 10 in other editors.
- ClearType is not respected (look pixelated)
Also is it possible to set the font for the datagrid? (the one that display columns, constraints, data, etc. when clicking on a table).
Thanks in advance for any help.

Changing the font in the grid is currently only possible through Look&Feel themes.
Nevertheless, there's a feature request at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42626:39:482060356626746::NO::P39_ID:7001 (Raghu, a developer, promised to check the status).
The theme's fontsize can be changed in the IDE.Properties file (under your user profile). If you're lucky, your problem with the size in the other areas might be affected by this also.
As for Cleartype, I understand you need a JDK 1.6. Sqldev comes with a bundled 1.5, but you can download the latest non-beta and set its use in sqldeverloper.conf (under the installation folder):
SetJavaHome C:\Archivos de programa\Java\jdk1.6.0_07Hope that helps,
K.

  • SQL Developer 1.51.5440 high CPU + frozen screen

    Hi,
Using SQL Developer 1.51.5440 on WinXP. The laptop has 2 GB and decent CPU, the OS is well maintained and in good working order.
From times to times, the SQL Developer window becomes unresponsive (with a gray background). Either it freezes in this state or takes 2 to 5 minutes to becomes responsive again.
I started using SQL Developer last week (I am new to Oracle), I have already had 3 times where SQL Developer consumes a lot of CPU, make the CPU fan spins, and stay in this state permanently. I had to kill the process to make it stop. Not sure how to reproduce this issue but I suspect this could be clicking on a connection where the Oracle server is not accessible.
Is it a confirmed issue or is it specific to my laptop?
Thanks in advance for any help.

There are some reported problems where SLQDeveloper uses a lot of CPU. I don't know if the development team have got to the bottom of them, though.
If you can confirm the steps to reproduce, it would help the team.
Anti-virus software can cause general slowness in Java apps, but if Task Manager is showing SQLDeveloper using CPU rather than the virus scanner it probably isn't that.

  • Migrating SVN Settings to SQL Developer 3.1EA3

I had SVN set up in SQL Developer 2 and it was working just fine. When I installed SQL Developer 3, I migrated the settings from SQL Developer 2, but the SVN settings did not move over with it. In addition, when I attempt to set up SVN in SQLDev3, it sees it as a new repository and attempts to overwrite my existing local SVN repository.
What is the recommended way to migrate an SVN repository from 2 to 3?
    Thanks!

Here's the solution (in case any one else has had the same problem).
You need to export your SVN settings from the previous version of SQL Developer and import it to the current version. In my case, it was version 2.1 to 3.
Right click on Subversion in the Versioning Navigator, and Export connection.
Then, in the new version of SQL Developer, right click on Subversion and Import connection.
    Done.

    Apex Listener 2.0.1 / Sql Developer 3.2.20.09 / Apex 4.1.1

  • SQL Developer Slow typing - v2.1.0.63 on Windows 7 (32bit)

Ever since changing to a laptop with Windows 7 (32 bit), and to SQL Developer 2.1, ---- FROM Windows XP and SQL Dev 1.5.1 which worked very well --- I have had a drastic change in response time typing into the editor area.
My only symptoms were waiting for my typing to show up on the screen. It tried to fill in keywords slowly. I was used to it showing me table names and column names to use in the old version -- didn't happen in new version -- but at least I could run my scripts. Also I didn't like the new way of keeping the old Query Result tabs open ... I was surprised about that. Now I have to specifically close each one.
So then I tried to 'fix' the slowness by changing my settings a bit. I have no idea what half that stuff is refering to in the Tools > Preferences area. I must have really messed it up. :( Now I can't hardly see anything - parts are missing ... I have to Wait and wait and wait for it to respond to a mere click....
The page doesn't fill properly, I have to 'hover' over some parts to get them to show, I have to click on other parts to get the full script to show, ---- I did finally run 1 script. The drop down lists from the top stay there - i.e. can't get the focus to change -- the lists stay down (in a ghostly way - half there) even though I'm trying to get into another list. (Hope that makes sense... like Tools, Help, View).
The only things I do in SQL Developer are: SQL scripts. That's it. I open files and run them. I open various connections. I type in SQL commands and run them. I'm not asking for all these bells and whistles that seem to really slow it down. I want to find my DB objects occasionally using a wildcard.
This is awful! What happened to SQL Developer?? I used to love it!
Somebody please help me get it back!
    Thank you.

First of all, did you install in a new, clean directory? Else you'll have a corrupted installation.
Second, better start over with clean settings; deleting the [Windows user profile]\Application Data\SQL Developer\systemXXX dir will restore settings to default.
Third, you could skip the above and start over with the latest v3.0...
    Hope that helps,
    K.

  • No data in view in SQL Developer

When trying to run the following code in SQL Developer the return values from the statement are all NULL.
    SELECT DECODE(paaf.assignment_type, 'E', hr_general.decode_lookup('EMP_CAT', paaf.employment_category),
                                        'C', hr_general.decode_lookup('CWK_ASG_CATEGORY', paaf.employment_category))
    FROM per_all_assignments_f paaf
WHERE SYSDATE BETWEEN paaf.effective_start_date AND paaf.effective_end_date;However when the same query in SQL*Plus and Toad the return values are correct.
After some rooting about in the Oracle eTRM I found that the function decode_lookup was using a cursor that took data from the view hr_lookup.
When I looked at this view through SQL Developer there is no data. However when querying the view in SQL*Plus there are > 51K rows.
Can anyone shed light on why this is? I have tried it on SQL Developer 1.2 and 1.5 EA3. I am working on Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.2.0 with eBusiness Suite 11.5.10.2
    Thanks,
    James.

I understand that SQL Developer takes it's NLS settings from Preferences - Database - NLS Parameters. What I was not aware of is that when SQL Developer is run for the first time the NLS Parameters seem to be populated from the settings on the OS of the PC it is running on. To test that this was the case I did the following
I work on a Windows XP system with Regional Options - Standards and Formats and Regional Options - Location set with English (United Kingdom) and United Kingdom respectively.
I unzipped two clean SQL Developer instances (both Version 1.2.1). The first instance I first ran under my current PC set up without importing settings from a previous installation. The Preferences - Database - NLS Parameters - Language and Preferences - Database - NLS Parameters - Territory had been populated with English and United Kingdom.
I then changed the Regional Options on the OS to English (United States) and United States and ran the second instance of SQL Developer for the first time, again without importing settings. In this instance of SQL Developer the NLS Parameters were populated with American and America.
When the first instance of SQL Developer was the checked under these OS settings the NLS Parameters were still English and United Kingdom.
I was not aware this was the case and, if my test is correct, it seems to contradict the SQL Developer user guide http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10405_01/doc/appdev.120/e10406/intro.htm#CHDBHCAG

  • Just Loaded Update And SQL Developer is Dead

Called up SQL Developer and the Updater popup notified me of a new update. Did a check for updates and checked the update for SQL Developer and loaded it with settings transferred to new instance. Now the entire blue pane with all the details is toast. Nothing. Zero, Nada. Terrific update.
    Bree

    Winning move!
I just renamed it, created a blank system folder, and then restarted SQL Developer. I said No to the migrate settings from other version screen. Then I put back the dbconnection folder and got my databases back. I can selectively add back preference folders and should be able to reconstitute.
Looks like the bug is in the setting migration routine.
    Thanks!

  • Copying from Oracle SQL Developer to Microsoft Word doesn't retain formatting (Font, colors etc)

Copying from Oracle SQL Developer Worksheet doesn't retain formatting (font, color etc...)in Microsoft Word but copying from other programs such as
visual studio, chrome browser etc works fine. This doesn't work even after changed the setting to Keep Source formatting of Options-> Copy and Paste Settings

    Hi,
I notice that you have cross posted in Answers forum and Oracle forum. Have you tried Mr. Peter's suggestion?
Then, I recommend we check the Word settings:
    1. Go to: Options > Advanced > Cut, Copy and Paste
    2.  Make sure that Use smart cut and paste is ticked.
    3. Click the Settings button next to this option
    4. Make sure that Smart Style
    Behavior is checked.
If the issue still exists, please upload a sample through One Drive, I want to test.

  • How to get these settings in sql developer

as per this link, when I selected my rows in sql developer am not getting any of the options shown in the screen shot of the link,
my sql developer is Version 3.2.20.09 windows 64 bit, to use this options do I need to do any settings?
    http://www.thatjeffsmith.com/archive/2013/02/how-to-copy-only-column-headers-from-query-results-in-oracle-sql-developer?
when I highlight and right click am getting only
    a) Save Grid as report
    b) Single record view
    c) count rows
    d) FInd/highlight
    e) Export

Once you have identified the desired column headings by highlighting one or more related data cells in the results grid, position your cursor over any column heading and right-click to get the context menu shown in Jeff Smith's blog.

  • SQL Developer 2.1 loses "recently used" type settings

I'm having an issue with 2.1 that I did not have with 1.5.5. Each time I start SQL Developer all my "recent" settings go back to default. I'm not quite sure how to articulate appropriately what I am seeing, so I will give an example...
For instance...Each time I restart 1.5.5 and I go to the Files tab, the last drive/folder/file that I last worked with is highlighted. When I export a given result set, and then export another, the last drive/folder that I used is what is brought back into the export dialog box. In 2.1 I seem to have lost this function, and have to drill down each and every time I open, or do another export.
I have searched through the preferences, and can't really find anything that would seem to relate to this issue...
Had anyone else experienced this, and if so, have you been able to overcome it?
    Thanks for any help....
    Tim

The above is my problem at this moment, too . Will anybody help ... us ? ^^

  • Prevent SQL Developer from writing to c:\documents and settings\

    Hello,
does anybody know how I can change the directory where sql developer is writing to under windows?
Currently it is writing to c:\document and settings\... (my %APPDATA% path in windows).
I have quotas on my profile and the quotas are exceeded by SQLDeveloper.
    Kind regards,
    Marcus
    Edited by: user12019413 on Feb 3, 2010 6:33 AM

If you want to change the directory where the SQLDeveloper configuration files are stored you can add:
    AddVMOption -Dide.user.dir=DIRECTORY_YOU_LIKEto SQL_DEV_INSTALL_DIR/sqldeveloper/bin/sqldeveloper.conf

  • Allow Custom Font Settings on SQL Dev

    Hi,
Well this is just simply a polite bump on my request.
I had posted on the forum about setting font on various SQL Dev component more that two years ago.
2.1.1 UI : Inconsistency Fonts setting on SQL Dev
And put on Exchange here :
    https://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=43135:7:242850196580001::NO:RP,7:P7_ID:23701
Well, to be honest, it seems although each released of SQL Dev introduced new feature, many of the users requested features on Exchange are simply neglected.
Quite sad though, as the Exchange should be considered as the main customers wish to see on the next version.
I just curious to know which any of the top 20 of the request marked as implemented on this SQL Dev 3.2?
Even for this request status is Open for more than two years, and not even a single comment from the team.
Perhaps they don't even care to read the Exchange though.
And this new 3.2 coming out without early adopter release as it used to be.
Well, for the bugs (or missed bugs) I've seen from some of the posts here, would simply have to wait another 6 months from now.
    What a waste....
What I've seen is this long cycle issue has caused lots of retiring 'used-to-be-active' users.
To put on weight for my request,
Isn't it funny that you cannot distinguish the query result grid between 'Oracle' and '0racle' from this 0racle's tool (or was it Oracle's)?

    Hi,
In User Interface perspective, mostly stands for, What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG).
Maybe that's what Sven's referring to, and that's one of the reason I started this thread.
Let's just wait for the team to decide the broad range of Font settings which are customizable, perhaps including Edit dialog as one of the customizable. And let the forums to give their opinion.

  • Need help with SQL developer settings

    Hi Folks,
I am trying to access a schema via a user (with read-only privilages). What this means is that off the command line interface, I have to pre-qualify all my tables using the schema name. E.g. desc schema_name.table_1 etc.
When I connect to the schema via SQL developer, I do not see any tables. Are there any settings in the SQL developer that will automatically add the pre-qualifier before each table ?
BTW, I am using Oracle SQL Developer version 2.1.1.64 and my database is 10g.
    Thanks in advance
    rogers42

The Tables node only lists your own tables. For others' objects, use the Other Users node.
Alternatively, you can assign synonyms to other users' objects to list them in your own tree.
    Have fun,

  • SQL Developer 1.5.1 - SQL Worksheet - Font Corruption

    Hi All,
I'm running SQL Developer 1.5.1 on Windows Vista x64 + Nvidea 8800GT graphics card. (all with latest versions)
Whenever I scroll the SQL worksheet - the text becomes unreadable / corrupted.
SQL Developer - SQL Worksheet is the only program that exhibits this problem.
    Thanks

UI and especially scrolling issues point to Java problems. Which JDK are you using (About in Help)?
You could get the latest (non-beta) JDK from Sun and edit +\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf+:
SetJavaHome C:\Archivos de programa\Java\jdk1.6.0_07You also might get faster/better results tweaking Direct Draw (combinations of true/false) inside \sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf:
    AddVMOption -Dsun.java2d.ddoffscreen=false
    AddVMOption -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=trueHope that helps,
