SQL Developer says Compile sucessful but it is not

I am trying to compile a procedure on a 10g instance. When I compile it, using any number of means to do so, it always says the compile was successful. Then when I try to view the changes in TOAD, they are not there. What is happening here? I using version 1.1.2.25 of SQL Developer.

True - but while I may be able to reproduce the problem on my database I can't provide the example without the 600Gb of underlying data.
Anyway, I've just located the package that was a problem last week and it was marked with a red cross indicating it was invalid - also double-checked that it had a status of INVALID in DBA_OBJECTS. (BTW - the problem was due to a dependent package having a duplicate variable declaration - but was still valid despite this being 'illegal')
So I right-click and select compile and this results in "SR_POLICY Compiled" being displayed in the Message Log pane. When I attempt to refresh the connections tree the staus flag does not change. Requery DBA_OBJECTS confirms that the status is still INVALID.
Then I right-click against the package in the connection tree and select Compile. This time I get the following message(s) ...
SR_POLICY Compiled
SR_POLICY Body Compiled
Also, the status in the connection tree has changed and the invalid flag has disappeared. The query against DBA_OBJECTS also confirms that the package is now valid.
Nobody else on the server, no changes to the underlying code, but the first attempt to compile fails.
It would be useful if others could contribute if they have come across similar examples on this sort of problem.

  • SOLVED: SQL Developer Code Compilation with warnings

Hi, I think I found one bug in sql developer.
I have one pl/sql package, that contains a lot of code. In the previous SQL Developer releases (prior to 1.2) when you compile the code, first appears the errors and then the warnings. Because of some type conversion in my sql statements i have more than 20 warnings, and now i cannot see the errors (i think that they will appear if i'm able to increase this "20 messages" limit). I was searching for some option in SQL Developer to increase the number of displayed warnings or errors (or turn off the warnings) but i cannot find such parameter.
Is this a bug, or i'm missing something ?
PS: because of this, i'm not able to compile my package with sql developer, and i'm compiling via sqlplus.

Yes, you're missing something: the forum's search feature.

The idea to jumpstart by change was not the smartest one, but gives you an opportunity to use that "temporary" account as permanent. You do not have a choice cause obviously despite you thinking that old account is no more -it does exist on Apple servers. And if you are unwilling to share your [email protected] with friend, just create one extra [email protected] for your friend. One suggestion - do not use gmail.

  • SQL Developer - No Compiler - Log

    Hi,
We are being asked to use SQL Developer instead of another app and finding it very tough going.
    I have Windows 7 64bit, SQL Developer 3 64bit and JDK 64bit
I have just installed version 3 and I am having a problem.
I open a new SQL worksheet and I type the following:
    begin
    dfsljk
    end;
I then press either the run statement button or the run script button hoping to see the compiler - log window appear with the error.
The last version used to do this.
Instead all I get is a text dump in the script output.
What has happeend to compiler - log?
How do I get it backl?
I have tried ctrl-alt-l but nothing happens

If Sue has had the time to follow up, it apparently did not manifest as a new bug. I did not check for any old bugs.
Anyway, the change in behavior was probably intentional to improve internal consistency in the tool. For errors in anonymous blocks in a worksheet, neither 2.1 nor 3.0 brings up the compiler log. Any error message displays only in the script or statement output tabs.
As for package, function, and procedure definitions, the first attempt to execute the DDL in a worksheet results in a new node of the appropriate name and type appearing in the Connections tree view (whether the compile succeeds or fails). This may require a "Refresh" for the object to display in the tree. If there is some issue during compilation, the 2.1 output tab shows, for example,
    PROCEDURE XYZ compiled
Errors: check compiler log <--- implying an intent to display details in the compiler log
whereas the 3.0 output tab shows
    PROCEDURE xyz compiled
Warning: execution completed with warning <--- implying no intent to display details in the compiler log
Subsequent create invocations (without the "or replace" syntax) results in a "ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object" error, hinting that opening the PL/SQL editor on the object from the Connections tree view is really the appropriate action to take.
Notice also, in the 2.1 compiler log, that right clicking on the error and selecting "Go to Source" does nothing for PL/SQL code executed from the worksheet. It only goes to the proper source line for code compiled from the PL/SQL editor.
The tool, by pushing you toward use of the PL/SQL editor, is probably doing you a favor. The PL/SQL environment is a superior development environment as compared to the worksheet trying to emulate SQL*Plus. For example, some SQL*Plus features (such as variable declarations for use as bind variables) are not fully implemented in SQL Developer. The implementation of the PL/SQL context seems much more solid.

  • Tables are not visible in SQL Developer 3.0 Navigator but are queriable.

I have installed SQL Developer 3.0 and have connected to an oracle 11g db. I can see all the tables of all the users in the navegation pane when I am logged in with the system account. I can not see any tables in the navagation pane when I am logged in as a schema owner even though I can query the tables and get results. I have verified my schema owner is the owner of the tables by querying all_Tables where owner = 'MY_SCHEMA'
I can see the tables fine when using sql developer 1.5.5 on the same machine with the same login credentials. Is this a beta release bug or is there a setting that is incorrect?

The sollution is to grant the Schema owner select Catalog Role. Not sure why it is needed but it works

  • PSE 12 and PE 12 says loaded sucessfully - but will not run it says my "trial has expired" ?

    I bought a DVD from Amazon .
Both products say they loaded properly. But I can not get past the Welcome screen.  Both apparently got registered properly. But it now insists my trial is over so buy another copy!
Obviously this is a simple retail pack bought on a DVD.
I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it 3 times - once even going back to an earlier restore point.  Once PSE opened.  But when I closed it down and configured it to always open not on the Welcome screen but on the Editor, From then on the shortcut wouldn't even open the Welcome screen - and I had to reinstall it..
I can only think somehow, when it activated itself with my serial number it now thinks it is an expired trial version - and Yes I am on WIndows [saw posts claiming some people got the Mac serial no's]
I have seen a few forum posts about this - but no way to fix it.
I just came to realise Photoshop is a great product - well version 9 was. But Adobe has THE WORST SUPPORT INFRASTRUCTURE that i have ever seen .
I think it is a deliberate ploy to lose a customer in a labarynth of semi relevant online questions; only to dump you at the end into a Forum like this, where basically its up to the generosity of existing users to help you.
Well that is a smart way to avoid hiring trained people for a proper support department.
So I need help any ideas?
Do you think if i return it to Amazon and get a replacement this would work?
The irony is I only bought Version 12;  because my old copy of PSE and PE Version 9 came bundled and preloaded with my Sony Vaio Laptop.  As there is no way to see the serial number of these products once installed and Sony are unable to give me one because it was factory installed!  Yep 8 emails and 3 months later I gave up.  Mental note never buy any preloaded software from Sony.
As I always felt vunerable because of this; eg say the program needed reloading; I could not do it without a valid serial number. So seeing the special offer, I thought well now is the time for safetys sake to put myself in a position where if I had a problem; then at least I could reinstall the product. Plus get the benefits of the upgrade.
So instead of improving my position;  I have ended up, unsupported, and with no running application!  And with no support from Adobe - pretty much no way of resolving it.
Unless some kind person on this forum know how it is done?
Been up all night till 6.46 am trying to solve it .
So if I do not post a quick reply it is not because I am not interested - just exhuasted - and so fed up!
But I will be back tomorrow.

Entshuldigen aber mein Deutsch ist ganz schlect. was is 'datei'?
Ich habe 3 stunden mehr ausgaben mit Adobe Support . noch ein problem! Und er war uberhaupt ein dumbkopft.

  • SQL Developer 1.5.5 version sysasm role not available

    Hi,
I am trying to use SQL developer 1.5.5 to access 11gR2 ASM instance type. Currently, I don't see the option for the connection role type for sysasm. I think, we may need this to access ASM catalog. Also, we may need the SID type to be ASM to access ASM instance type.
When I go in as SYSDBA role and try to access any of the tables, synonyms etc, I get the error ORA--01219 saying that the database not open. However, I can access V$asm_disk by running the SQL query through SQL developer.
Please let me know your thoughts on this.
    Thanks,
    Prem Ramamurthy

    Hi,
Have you tried the latest SQL Dev 30EA3?
I think SQL Dev 1.5.5 functionality does not cope up with Oracle 11g new feature.

  • SQL Developer: View menu selections Reports and Connections not working

Downloaded latest SQL Developer May 9 updated version and my dropdown selections from the View menu for Connections, and View Reports do not work. However, Snippets does appear when selected. Hate to lose some of the User Defined reports I had created. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know if I get what you're saying: the entries Connections and Reports from the View menu don't work?
On top of the connection tree, if you get one, aren't there the two tabs with these options?
If you're unable to view the whole tree, you're installation would be corrupted. Install from scratch in a separate folder, first without migration to see if that resolves the issue. Then you could do the same with migration to retrieve all previous settings and connections.

  • SQL Developer 1.5 - The Network Adapter could not establish the connection

I was using SQL Developer 1.2 until this afternoon. I saw that 1.5 was available so I decided to try it out.
Unfortunately, I cannot connect. I've tried connecting the same way I've done with 1.2 and it gives me the error:
"Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection"
No firewall changes, tns changes have been done the whole 10 minutes I was transitioning over from 1.2 to 1.5.
Any ideas how I can get 1.5 to connect?

    Hi Echoi ,
1/Do you want us to look at the tnsnames.ora and see if we spot anything?
    2/There are complications with existing ORACLE_HOME s:
Re: 1.5 not working at all for me
    post from dooneill:
    Hi Thomas,
SQL Developer does pick up the JDBC drivers from your local ORACLE_HOME.
To ensure your using the shipped JDBC drivers you could use the following small script.
I would appreciate if you could tell me if this works and what version of Oracle you have installed locally.
    1) Close SQL Developer
    2) Create a sqldeveloper.cmd file in the SQL Developer root directory
    3) With the following contents
    SET ORACLE_HOME=%CD%
    start sqldeveloper.exe
    4) Run sqldeveloper.cmd
    Thanks

  • I updated Firefox to 37.0.1 and often when I close it there is a message saying it crashed, but it is not true.

As said above, after updating to 37.0.1, Firefox is OK but when I close it sometime (not always) a message says it crashed, but it never actually crashed.
    Thanks & best regards

I agree with you. adobe sometimes crashes(has been doing this as long as I can remember). But, i think it is another problem with firefox. This was not happening before 37.0.1

  • Flash says already installed but it is not

As stated.  I was having problems viewing some videos and figured it may be a problem with flash.  I had the 32bit version but I am running windows 7 64bit.  So I uninstalled adobe flash from the computer using the control panel, then rebooted.  Now When I attempt to download the Flash 64bit from the website (using IE 9, 64bit) the program downloads, and once it begins to say installing it stops and I receive a message saying A newer version of adobe flash is already installed.  But it is not installed and does not exist anywhere I can find on my computer.
    thanks for any help

  • SQL Developer 1.1 Patch 3 still does not work on 64-bit Windows

There has been a long-standing problem with SQL Developer 1.1 not working on 64-bit versions of Windows. When sqldeveloper.exe is executed, a very unhelpful error dialog stating "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc00000018). Click on OK to terminate the application" is displayed.
While there is a workaround that involves running the sqldeveloper.bat file in the \sqldeveloper\bin subdirectory, it is a bit inconvenient and requires the user to discover this workaround. Furthermore, SQL Developer 1.0 did not have this problem, so it is a bit puzzling as to why the problem was introduced with SQL Developer 1.1 and why it is still not fixed with the latest patch.

I can confirm that we have a fix for this problem. I'm not sure when this fix will be available in SQL Developer.
The bug was introduced in 1.1 due to optimizations in the way that the native Windows launcher works to better support products like SQL Developer.
    Thanks,
    Brian
