SQL -generated for migration

I want to know where do I find the SQL statements generated by
the migration utility for Oracle 8.1.5 from Access.
Also where does the errors get logged?
Thanks in advance.

hi donal,
in my case even the same thing is happening Oracle workbench is having stored procedures in omwb_emulation like cdate, int_ , time_,time_1 (which i think are system functions provided by sql server, i don't understand why they are being migrated and stored under omwb_emulation?) also two packages with the name of globalpkg and utilities are created under omwb_emulation schema.
Which i have seen is being referenced a lot of times in converted PL/SQL Stored procedures like everytime a select statement in a SQL Server procedure is converted to some code which references omwb_emulation.globalpkg. I am not able to comprehend what's the reason behind this. can somebody through light on this and let me know is it really required?

• SQL pricing for Migrating an existing multi-tenant application

We have a client with an ~10 year old multi-tenant application running on a traditional dedicated hosting environment. The client is interested in migrating to Azure but only if they can benefit from PAAS features (managed backups, snapshots, scaling,
etc).
Their application automatically creates a new SQL database with each new customer signup. As such, there are 886 databases which would need to be moved. The total size on disk of all DBs together is only 3.82 GB. Only 3 DBs are more than
100 MB. 862 of the DBs are less than 10MB each (794 of those are less than 5MB).
The way I read Azure pricing, each of these 883 DBs less than 100 GB would cost $5/month. The only other alternative is to get a VM with SQL server on it -- but I can't see the advantage of that vs. the dedicated host they are already using.
Is there any other alternative to consider when contemplating an application made up of many small databases?
Thanks in advance for any advice,
Jason

Hi,
If you have existing applications or workloads you simply want to grab and move to the cloud, SQL Server in a Virtual Machine is the easiest path to realize the benefits of the cloud. If you are looking to innovate and build new relational applications running
in the cloud or extend parts of on-premises applications into the cloud, SQL Database is the best long-term solution.
In your scenario, if use azure SQL, you must pay for each database per month, refer to
http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/sql-database/for more information about SQL Azure, cost too much.
About use SQL VM, I suggest you read the following article.

• Invalid SQL generated for count query.

A SQL statement was generated with the table name information missing when
a count SQL query was issued (e.g. SELECT COUNT(*) FROM WHERE <SOME
EXPRESSION>). The same query worked fine before switching to vertical
class mapping.
Basically no queries work with the result set to "count(this)". The
temporary work-around was to retrieve the collection and get the size. I
would rather not have to do this.
Any ideas?

Brendan,
What version of Kodo is this happening with? Can you send a test case
demonstrating this to [email protected]?

• Tools for migrating data (documents) from MS SQL to Oracle

Hi,
Please let me know if there any tools available for migrating documents from one database like MS SQL to Oracle. Currently our documents are stored in MS SQL and we are planning to implement KM for document management with Oracle as the database.
Regards,

The old manual style still works - create the scripts for the migration objects, then use search & replace to rename the schema for all affected objects and finally run the SQL script to create them in the Oracle database.

How to see the SQL (OLAP DML) generated by Discoverer for OLAP
Posted: Aug 30, 2007 9:30 AM Reply
Hi,
I originally posted this query on the Discoverer forum, but it was then suggested to post it here in the OLAP forum. Please help.........
Is there a way to see the SQL (OLAP DML) generated by Discoverer for OLAP (the way we have "View SQL" in Discoverer Relational). The version in use is 10.1.2.48.18.

Directly within Discoverer for OLAP (or Viewer)? No - because there is no way to change the behaviour of the generated SQL, you cannot add hints or create any MVs to change the SQL generated. You can trace the SQL generated during a Disco for OLAP query though by switching on some of the OLAP tuning and diagnostic features. There is more information contained in the Discoverer for OLAP Best Practices Guide:

• Sharepoint full farm backup generates sql logs for search application differential backups

We are running full farm backups for sharepoint. Backup completes normally but SQL logs are generated for differential backups for search service application.
it says something like:
Database differential changes were backed up: database: search_serv.......
Thanks,
Basit

This can happen for a few reasons, such as is disk contention or network issues. Are you backing up to a shared directory on the SQL Server? If not, try that.

• Issue with LDT file generated for the XML Template

Hi,
I have defined a Template in 11i instance. Attached an .rtf file to the same. Now, I have to migrate the Template definition along with the .rtf assignment to the template to R12 Instance.
I was able to download the Template definition using FNDLOAD command. LDT file got generated in the same directory where I executed the FNDLOAD DOWNLOAD command.
But, I was trying to download the .rtf assignment using the command - java oracle.apps.xdo.oa.util.XDOLoader DOWNLOAD.
I have specified a .ldt file along with the command, but the .ldt file doesnt gets generated. It says the default file is xdotmpl.ldt.
Where does the .ldt file gets generated for this command?
Thanks in advance.
Kiran

I gave the command as follows -
java oracle.apps.xdo.oa.util.XDOLoader DOWNLOAD \
-DB_USERNAME apps \
-DB_PASSWORD apps \
-JDBC_CONNECTION server1:1525:instance02 \

-APPS_SHORT_NAME IBY \
-LCT_FILE $XDO_TOP/patch/115/import/xdotmpl.lct \
-LDT_FILE AP_FORMAT.ldt
I was expecting a ldt file - AP_FORMAT.ldt. But infact I get a AP_FORMAT.drvx file.
Also, when the above command is executed, I am getting an error message -

• Different sql generated in CR4E compared to standalone CR?

Hi,

We are currently working with CR4E and have found that a report generates different results in CR4E previewer than the standalone Crystal reports previewer - and upon closer inspection the sql statements are different.

We are running oracle (with thin client driver) and the problem seems to stem from join types - we cannot specify a join type in CR4E, but this can be specified in standalone CR - resulting in incorrect results in CR4E (we frquently need to use left outer joins). I am guessing that the sql generation code in CR4E does not understand the join types specified in the report file generated in standalone CR - is this a known problem? Is there a standard migration procedure - we really need to be able to preview reports correctly in both apps.

We already have a workaround of copying the sql generated by the standalone report and using this as a complete sql command within the report - but this is obviously far from ideal for our needs.

Also, when is CR4E likely to support join types - this is a key requirement for us.

Many Thanks,

Peter

Hi Peter,

If you believe the root of your issue is linked to the Join type then you can modify this today in Crystal Reports for Eclipse. Below is a screenshot that demonstrates where this option is exposed. Essentially, if you change to the Outline View while on the data pane, when you select the Link in the Outline view you will see the Join type exposed in the Properties View

Give this a try and let me know if it resolves your issue.

Regards,
Sean Johnson (CR4E Product Manager)

Rate this plugin @ Eclipse Plugin Central

• Inputs on capabilities of Noetix Generator for OBIEE requested

Hi,
We are looking into a scenario where we are required to migrate large number of Discoverer 4i reports to OBIEE. We have good number of custom reports and views too that are to be migrated.
I am aware that [Noetix Generator for OBIEE|http://noetix.com/Products/NoetixGenerator/OracleBISuiteEEPlus.aspx|Noetix Generator for OBIEE] can handle it to some extent, but at the repository level - how seamless is the integration and how much customization/ETL would be required for the custom reports to be built on custom views (say 50 reports from 60 custom views).
Appreciate inputs from the experts based on their previous experiences.

• SQLloder scripts not getting generated for CLOBs

I am trying to migrate MYSQL 3.23 database into Oracle 8.1.7 and after creating the Oracle model and after converting the MYSQL text datatype into CLOB of the Oracle model the SQLloader scripts is not getting generated for CLOB datatypes. I mean the scripts are getting created but there is no change in the script for CLOB datatype.
The script generates the following for the table containing CLOB datatypes:
mysqldump -h <HOST> -u <USERNAME> -p<PASSWORD> -T <DESTINATION_PATH> fields-terminated-by="<ec>" lines-terminated-by="<er>" test av_wbt_course
Please let me know how to load data when the datatype is of CLOB ?

I was able to resolve this issue by using OWM Oracle Migration instead of using offline method by sqlloader scripts.
