  • SQL Server 2012 Deploy Database to SQL Azure...

I have spent many days trying to copy a simple test database from my PC to SQL Azure but with little success.  Then I installed SQL Server 2012 and see a new task:
Deploy Database to SQL Azure...  It looks like an automated extraction to DAC and then creating the Azure database all in one step.
I was elated, but got hit with the following three types of errors.
One or more unsupported elements were found in the schema used as part of a data package.
Error SQL71564: The element Extended Property: [dbo].[Accounts].[Address].[MS_Description] is not supported when used as part of a data package (bacpac).
Error SQL71564: Table Table: [dbo].[Activities] does not have a clustered index.  Clustered indexes are required for inserting data in this version of SQL Server.
Error SQL71564: Element User: [NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE] has an unsupported property AuthenticationType set and is not supported when used as part of a data package.
     (Microsoft.SqlServer.Dac)
May I know what I can do on the on-premise database to rid of the first and third error?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    1) Remove the Extended Property from the (?) column Address in table Accounts.
BTW, for small databases it's sometimes easiere to generate a script for the database (and modify it slightly) instead of using the Wizard

What is Extended Property?   What is this .MS_Description?   I can't see it in the table designer or the Column Properties.  (I don't know whether this was corruption caused by Data Sync I used earlier.)  How do I remove it.
Of all the methods of copying SQL Server to Azure SQL, this one gives the least mistakes.  If I can solve this Extended Properties thing hopefully I can migrate the database over.

  • Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services Error Code = 0x80040E05

I've been running a package for 6 months without any issues that pulls data from a cube via MDX and moves it to a database.
We've recently moved to a new server x64 and the connections all succeed but at runtime (in 64 = T&F) I get the following error:
[SRC AdExchange [87]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E05.

    I've installed SQL_AS_OLEDB, SQL_AS_ADOMD from Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP1 Feature Pack
    Why is my connection failing?

The server has a 10Gbps network connection.
    I've installed CU6 for SQL Server 2012 SP1
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2874879/en-us#hfi
I'm still getting the same error at runtime in BIDS:

  • SQL Server 2012 restoring database from backup file

    Hi All,
    1. I was restoring the database from PROD box to DEV box with the deferent name.
For Ex: Both PROD and DEV boxes are having "A" database. Now I am refreshing database"A" from PROD bot to DEV box with name "B". Now while restoring in SQL server 2012 I used GUI and took database name as "A" by default.
by mistake I executed the request. before completing I notice that "A" database in DEV Box went to restoring mode.
Now, in middle I stopped the query but still I am seeing database "A" is in restoring state.
Please guide me is there any way to bring database online with current data?
    2. Why sql server 2012 takes tail log backup of the existing database while restoring database with different name?

    Hi,

Check in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Setup Bootstrap. There is

It gave me something to look at. I first checked the Summary file for that install time and then looked at the Detail txt file but I can't understand what is causing the problem. Here are the final lines in that file. Any ideas?

  • Fails when executing job called syspolicy_purge_history (SQL Server 2012)

Hi friends i have the following  problem
The job syspolicy_purge_history  of my database engine failed, specifically on the third step called "Erase Phantom System Health Records" that executes a powershell.  This is the sentence that executes (All job syspolicy_purge_history
on any SQL 2012 has the same code):
    if ('$(ESCAPE_SQUOTE(INST))' -eq 'MSSQLSERVER') {$a = '\DEFAULT'} ELSE {$a = ''};
    (Get-Item SQLSERVER:\SQLPolicy\$(ESCAPE_NONE(SRVR))$a).EraseSystemHealthPhantomRecords()
.  When i see the job history i get the following:
    Message
Executed as user: NT Service\SQLSERVERAGENT. The job script encountered the following errors. These errors did not stop the script:  A job step received an error at line 1 in a PowerShell script. The corresponding line is 'import-module SQLPS  -DisableNameChecking'.
Correct the script and reschedule the job. The error information returned by PowerShell is: 'The specified module 'SQLPS' was not loaded because no valid module file was found in any module directory.  '  A job step received an error at line 2 in
a PowerShell script. The corresponding line is '(Get-Item SQLSERVER:\SQLPolicy\SRV01236$a).EraseSystemHealthPhantomRecords()'. Correct the script and reschedule the job. The error information returned by PowerShell is: 'Cannot find drive. A drive with the
name 'SQLSERVER' does not exist.  '  A job step received an error at line 2 in a PowerShell script. The corresponding line is '(Get-Item SQLSERVER:\SQLPolicy\SRV01236$a).EraseSystemHealthPhantomRecords()'. Correct the script and reschedule the job.
The error information returned by PowerShell is: 'You cannot call a method on a null-valued expression.  '.  Process Exit Code -1.  The step failed.
Aditionally i tested putting the policies in powershell like unrestricted (like i see on a blog). but it didn't work.
My SQL version is 2012 Standard SP1 X64
    Please help me with this
    Thanks for your help
    Greetings

Thanks for your help princekumar8 and gona_david
Hello Gona_david,  You are right, when i execute the powershell sentence Get-Module -ListAvailable
    the SQLPS module doesn't appear.
Look i have another SQL Server 2012 in another server, but this is patched on SP2 and the syspolicy_purge_history here runs OK.  Also when i execute the powershell, the SQLPS appears in the list.
So, my question is: If i patch my server SQL Server 2012 with the error from SP1 to SP2, is Possible that the error will get away? In fact, Wouldn't be yet necessary runs the SQL install?
Basically what you recommend me in this case?
    Thanks in advance
    Greetings

    Hello,
Please try to manually download and install MS VC ++ 2005 SP1 from the following link:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5638
Run Windows Update to install a security update from 2009 for VC++ 2005 SP1.
Then try to reinstall SQL Server.
    Hope this helps.

  • Error when creating a database on SQL Server 2012(Virtual Machine)

    Hi,
I create a virtual machine on VMWare Workstation 10, then install Windows 7(32bit), then install SQL Server 2012 Enterprise version.
Then I write a Visual C++2008 program and using ADO to connect to the local SQL Server, with the connection string below:
    “Provider=sqloledb;Data Source=(local);Integrated Security=SSPI;”
The connect succeed, then I try to create a new SQL Server database by calling:
    m_pConnection->Execute(_T(“create database MyDatabase on primary (name = ‘MyDatabase’, filename = ‘E:\\MyDatabase.mdf’)”), NULL, 0);
where E: is a USB drive plugged in.
When running the above statement, I can even see the MyDatabase.mdf file is being created, but finally get an error and error number is 80040e31 when checking the error from m_pConnection, after analyzing the com exception, we find it reports the error as
“IDispath error #3121”. Both errors seem to indicate a “Timeout error”.
Then I try to create the database on the local drive in the virtual machine, as follows:
    m_pConnection->Execute(_T(“create database MyDatabase on primary (name = ‘MyDatabase’, filename = ‘C:\\MyDatabase.mdf’)”), NULL, 0);
Then I get error number: 80040e14 from m_pConnection, and com error is “IDispath error #3092”
    What is the problem?
    Thanks

  • Errors while Changing the Database to Mutli User Mode from Single user mode in SQL Server 2012

    Hi,
Good Afternoon :).  Need your help in resolving one of the issue with SQL Server 2012.
Today, we kept one of the database in the Single User mode and wanted to bring back to Multi User mode.  But we are getting the below error.  There are no user sessions connected to this database which are blocking each other.  I see multiple
SYSTEM sessions are in blocked state.  The blocking is not cleared even affter restarting the SQL services.
Verified the SQL Server Errorlog and couldnt get much useful information to troubleshoot the issue.
pasted the information from the sys.sysprocesses as well for your kind reference.

    Hi,
This 3rd time I followed this link. But nothing new, same error.
Can you please tell me how to do follow, I cannt do the 1st step, how to change the local system to windows level account, vice-versa. It is shown mine as
    Server Configuration Manager(Local)
From here I folllowed the steps ---[I cannt insert link/image :-(]
SQL 2008/R2 setup fails with "Wait on the database engine recovery handle failed"
If I right clicked on SQL Server Service, there is no option to change the account.
    Hello,
Thanks for your patience, did you tried stesp mentioned in below article
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqljourney/archive/2012/03/16/sql-2008-r2-setup-fails-with-quot-wait-on-the-database-engine-recovery-handle-failed-quot.aspx
To resolve it, follow these steps:-
When the installation throws this error, click on OK and allow it to proceed. It will fail for Database Engine, but the SQL Server service should have
been created. Check the Services console.
If the service is present, perform the following steps:-
    1. Go to SQL Server Configuration manager, right click on the SQL Server service, and change the service account (if it is local system, give
it a windows level account, and vice-versa). It might throw a WMI error but you will see the account getting updated anyway. If not, then use the Services console. Change the account for SQL Agent as well.
Use this link to change sql server service account
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345578.aspx
    2. Next, try to start the service. It should come online.
    3. However, you will not be able to log in to the SQL Server
    4. Now stop the service and start it from the command prompt using -m -c -T3608 parameters.
    5. Now try logging in to the server using admin connection from sqlcmd (sqlcmd admin:<server name>\<instance name> ...)
    6. Once logged in, use the sp_addsrvrolemember '<domain\username>','sysadmin'.
Also add the builtin/administrators to the sysadmin role
    7. Now stop the service from the command prompt and start it from SQL Server configuration manager
You should be able to log in to the server now.
    Hope this helps someone.
