SQL Server Status SHUTDOWN | Normal

Hi
I have one sql 2008 database .TDP backup is running for this server.now I am not able to take log backup on this server.It is failing.When I checked the database properties I found that status - Shutdown | Normal.
I am able to access this database and application is working fine and I am able to take SQL Native backup also.
Why this status showing Shutdown | Normal ?,Anybody can help me on this.

Now I found one more thing.
Actually this db is in mirroring .When I checked sys.databases I found that is_cleanly_shutdown column showing value 1
How I can make it to 0 ?Restart of SQL Server will resolve ?
If the Mirroring session is active, backup is not allowed on the database. More details
here.

    I can telnet the SQL port from secondary server. The log you mention only exist at primary server and nothing suspicious. Do I have to add the computer account secondary server to the SQL DB with same permission for primary server ?
    I have another environment that have SQL+SCCM primary in same box, I have secondary server too, but at the site system status there is no ConfigMgr SQL server. Is it correct ? So I mean the ConfigMgr SQL Server only exist at the secondary server if we use
    SQL remotely ?

    You don't require SQL for Secondary servers. And I don't think, you need to add secondary servers system account to SQL.

  • Extract the data from SQL Server and Import into Oracle

    Hi,
    I would like to run a daily job that will export the table data from SQL server table (it will be only one or two table) and Import back into Oracle table (it might one or two table tables).
    Could you please guide me that how can i do this using either sql server or oracle?
    We have oracle 9.2 and sql server 2005.
    Normally i do from flat file which is generated by source destination nand i dump into oracle using sql*loader but this time I have to directly extract/export the data from MS Sql server and load into Oracle table, mostly it will reload so i might doing any massaging data during the load.
    If you show me the detail approach, it will be really appreciated.
    I have access to Sql server but i don't how to use sql server to do this or using oracle as a daily job even becuase have to schedule the job for this as it will be a daily job.
    Thanks,
    poratips

    Unless you can find an open source ODBC driver for SQL Server that runs on Solaris (and I wouldn't be overly hopeful there) Heterogeneous Services would require that you license something-- a third party ODBC driver, a new Oracle instance, or an Oracle Transparent Gateway.
    As I stated below, you could certainly use SQL Server's ETL tool, DTS. Oracle's ETL tools would require additional licensing since you're just on 9.2. You could also write a small application (Java or otherwise) that connected to both databases and transferred the data. If you're particularly enterprising, you could load the SQL Server Type 4 JDBC driver into Oracle's JVM and write a Java stored procedure that connected to the SQL Server database via JDBC, but that's a pretty convoluted approach.

  • Data modeler cannot connect to non-default sql server instance

    I've just started using DM, it installed and loaded fine, I got the jdbc drivers v2.0 from MS so that I can reverse engineer a couple of SQL-Server 2005 DB's.
    All worked just fine until I tried to connect to a machine with a named-sql-server instance.
    Normal way of doing this for sql-server is to add instance name to end of hostname in the hostname field, like this: "server10\inst01"
    but this gives me a cannot-connect-to-server10 error.
    I copied database over to a different server that has just a default sql-server instance and it worked fine. (both sql-server2005 and 2000!)
    I also tried the older 1.2 jdbc driver from MS against the sql-server 2005 named instance, no luck!
    I tried putting the instance name in front of the port number, that didn't work either.
    Am I just doing something wrong? or does DM need a special way of specifying the instance name on the sql-server host?

    Hello,
    you don't need instance name in order to connect. It's only host and port - probably named instance is not listening on default port. It'll be unfortunate if dynamic port assignment is used - but probably that won't be the case.
    I hope someone can tell you the port number.

  • Migrating SQL server 6.5 to Oracle

    Does anyone know if SQL seveloper 1.5.5 work with SQL Server 6.5? i have been trying set it up, but i get the following error every time when trying to connect to the 6.5 SQL Server:
    Status: I/O Error: Stream 0 attempting to read when no request has been sent
    BTW, i do not hav ethe option to upgrade the SQL Server at thi stime
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jacques,
    Just to be clear.
    SQL Server 6.5 is not supported by SQL Developer or the old OMWB.
    The only supported version of SQL Server, is 7,2000 and 2005 which are supported by SQL Developer.
    Having said that
    The old OMWB can be downloaded here
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/migration/workbench/index.html
    And the old (unsupported) SQL Server 6.5 plugin can be found here

  • C# script to check SQL server Service Status

    Dear,
    i want any console application or asp.net web site project which give me sql server services status of my and other local machine which is using same network connect with other machine name.
    in other word, i want such asp.net website project or console application when i run it give me status of all sql server service status of other specific machine
    plz help me
    Asif Mehmood

    Just connect to the machines
    SCM and query it.
    Use the
    ServiceController class and especially this
    ServiceController constructor (String, String) to connect to remote machines.
    You may use the static
    ServiceController.GetServices(String) method instead of manually connecting to the remote SCM.
    E.g.
    namespace Samples
    using System;
    using System.ServiceProcess;
    class Program
    static void Main(string[] args)
    ServiceController[] serviceControllers;
    serviceControllers = ServiceController.GetServices("hoffmann-04");
    foreach (ServiceController serviceController in serviceControllers)
    Console.WriteLine("{0}", serviceController.ServiceName);
    Console.WriteLine("\t{0}\n", serviceController.DisplayName);
    Console.WriteLine("Done.");
    Console.ReadLine();
    When running this code within a ASP.NET application, this means that it will run in the ASP.NET application pool. This pool uses normally a local, restricted account, which does not possess the necessary priveleges to query a remote SCM.
    E.g. for SQL Server services:
    namespace Samples
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;
    using System.Linq;
    using System.ServiceProcess;
    class Program
    static void Main(string[] args)
    List<ServiceController> serviceControllers;
    serviceControllers = ServiceController.GetServices(".")
    .Where(sc => sc.ServiceName.Contains("SQL")).ToList();
    foreach (ServiceController serviceController in serviceControllers)
    Console.WriteLine("{0}: {1}", serviceController.ServiceName, serviceController.Status);
    Console.WriteLine("\t{0}\n", serviceController.DisplayName);
    Console.WriteLine("Done.");
    Console.ReadLine();

  • I keep getting an error message when logging onto iCloud. It states that "you cant sign in because of a server error".  But the cloud status is "normal".

    This is happened today after I udpated my iPad to IOS v7 and iTunes to 11.1.0.126  and only for one of my computers.  I keep on getting an error message when trying to log onto iCloud.  The error message is "you cannot sign-in because of a server error" but the iCloud status is "normal" and iCloud is fine on my other computers.

    Next day the problem still continued.  I did restart my computer a couple of times and then "it worked".  Not sure why - if it really was a server problem or something on my side.

  • Query to Find what SQL Server services running, what status and with what service account

    I need to check what SQL Server services are running(engine,agent,IS,AS,RS,browser and Full text) and what is the present status and what service accounts are been used by them on several servers in a single shot.
    Could any one help me in finding a good script for the same.

    I have been looking for the same thing, the issue I am running into is finding the Actual Service Name.  I know this question is old, and I personally do not understand the reply.
    so Far I have the following:
    DECLARE @ServiceAcount NVARCHAR(128);
    SET @Service = 'No Return Value'
    --MsDtsServer100 (SSIS)
    EXEC master.dbo.xp_regread
    'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE',
    'SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\MsDtsServer100',

  • SQL Server Reporting Service 2008 R2 - The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.

    I got the error "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized." when I call the Reporting Service Web Service.
    The code is very simple:
    // Initialise the reporting service Web Service
    this.RSWebService = new ReportingService2010();
    // Pass windos authentication credentials to Web Service
    this.RSWebService.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
    // List children
    List<CatalogItem> reports = this.RSWebService.ListChildren(folder, false).ToList();
    The SQL Server is installed on a different machine (say server A) from the Web server (say server B). We are using Windows Server 2003.
    The code work fine for all the scenario below:
    i) Run locally (XP) to call the web service on the sql server
    ii) Provide the Network Credentials with the username, password, and domain when calling the web service
    iii) If the web server and sql server is using same server (i.e. not distributed)
    I'm using windows authentication and impersonation. Any idea?

    Hi Raymond,
    If I understand correctly, the issue only happens in the environment that the web server is different with the SQL Server Reporting Services server. This means the web server is a remote server of the Report Server. Windows Integrated authentication is used
    in this case. When running the web page, the 401 error occurs.
    If so, it is actually a double hop issue. The double-hop problem will usually only be an issue to those of you who write some sort of web-based code (a web application or web service) that uses impersonation.
    To fix the issue, we can configure kerberos authentication for the web application and the SQL Server Reporting Services.
    Below is a great article that has delivered many solutions to fix the issue you met:
    http://odetocode.com/articles/216.aspx
    Additionally, you can read the following article to know more about double-hop:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2008/06/13/understanding-kerberos-double-hop.aspx

    Thanks Jin. I believe this is the cause of the problem as well.
    I tried to register the SPN but unfortunately it still doesn't work. I'm not sure whether I'm using the correct SPN name.
    I have 3 reporting server instance on the SQL box. So the Web Service URL is like
    http://Server:80/VirtualDirectoryDev,
    http://Server:80/VirtualDirectoryTest  and
    http://Server:80/VirtualDirectoryStaging .
    What's the SPN I need to register?
    I tried
    Setspn -a http/Server:80/VirtualDirectoryDev domain\account
    and
    Setspn -a http/aerver:80 domain\account.
    But both of them are not working :(

    This sounds quite strange because I'm able to collect most of Instances and Database infos. And I'm also able to connect with status: Success to other Instances hosted in the same cluster.
    Can you give me any good advice?
    Thanks in advance

    We can try to see if a detailed log might reveal where the breakdown occurs. To get the detailed log, follow these instructions precisely:
    With MAP closed, rename the existing MAP log file which is located in "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\MAP\MapToolkit.log" if the default was used during installation. It is recommended that you include a number or date when renaming so that we can keep the logs
    in order if we have to do this again.
    Open Notepad as Administrator
    Open "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\MAP\Logging.cfg" in Notepad
    Change the line that says “.default=Info” to read “.default=Trace2”
    Save and close the file
    Open MAP (this creates a new log file)
    Go to File > Select a Database
    In the window that opens, select the radio button called “Create an inventory database” and enter a name
    Click ok
    On the Overview page in MAP, click on “Perform an inventory”
    Choose the "SQL Server with Database Details" inventory scenario
    Choose only the manual entry discovery method and enter just one target machine
    Make sure that you use the All Computers credentials for the user name and password
    Once the inventory has completed, exit MAP
    Open Logging.cfg is the same manner as before and change it back to “.default=Info”
    ZIP and send us the new log file

  • Monitor SQL Server service Broker queue status

    I need to monitor SQL Server service Broker queue status.  If the queue is disabled, send me an email alert.
    Can you let me know what's the best way to accomplish it using SCOM?

    1) create a queue for notification
    2) create a service on notification queue
    3)Create an event notification for broker queue disable. Associate this with the queue that you are monitoring.
    4)Create a procedure that send you and email with this event happens
    Example:
    ---- Notification
    CREATE
    QUEUENotify_queue
    -- Service
    CREATE
    SERVICE[http://queue_Notify]
    ONQUEUENotify_queue([http://schemas.microsoft.com/SQL/Notifications/PostEventNotification]);
    --Event
    CREATE
    EVENTNOTIFICATION[http://queue_Notify_event]
    ONQUEUETarget_queue
    FORBROKER_QUEUE_DISABLED
    TOSERVICE'http://queue_Notify','current
    database';
    GO
    procedure will be something like...
    WAITFOR
    RECEIVETOP(1)
    @RecvReqMsgName=message_type_name,
    @RecvReplyMsg=message_body,
    @RecvReplyDlgHandle=conversation_handle
    FROMNotify_queue),TIMEOUT5000
    IF(@RecvReqMsgName='http://schemas.microsoft.com/SQL/Notifications/EventNotification')
    BEGIN
    DECLARE@cmdNVARCHAR(MAX)
    SET@cmd='dbo.sp_send_dbmail
    @profile_name="Name XYZ",
    @recipients="[email protected]",
    @body="CAST(@RecvReplyMsg as NVARCHAR(MAX)",
    @subject="Queue Disabled Detected";'
    EXEC
    (@cmd)
    END

    I think the clearest statement about this is on page 11 of the Master Guide (SAP BPC 7.0 M Master Guide at [http://service.sap.com/instguidesEPM-BPC]).
    Look at the rows for OLAP Server and Microsoft SQL Server.  In each of those, you wil find this statement:
    "Can be 64‒bit when separate from Application/web services"
    On page 10 in the Installation Guide, for look at the rows for Application server Web Server.  The prerequisites are as follow:
    App Server:
    Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard or Enterprise Edition SP2 (32-bit) configured with NTFS, set to English (United States)
    Web Server:
    Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard or Enterprise Edition SP2 (32-bit) configured with NTFS
    Finally, the PAM is a bit confusing.  For product SAP BPC 7.0 FOR MICROSOFT, click on the tab Operating Systems and then click on the tab BPC Server.  That is the software that you install for the Application Server and the Web Server server types.  The Operating System Version listed is WINDOWS SERVER 2003/IA32 32BIT

  • SQL Server 2005 Connection Status Pending

    Hi all,
    How do I debug a SQL Server connection in ?  The status goes to pending and stays there.
    MII V12.0.4
    VMWare/Windows 2003 64bit
    SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver 1.2, a Type 4 JDBC
    I deployed the sqljdbc.jar to MII (downloaded and deployed).
    I created a new IDBC type SQL.  I changed the following:
      JDBC Driver: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
      Password: abcdefg!
      Server URL:   jdbc:sqlserver://xx.xx.xx.xx:4813;databaseName=MYDB;
      User Name: my_user
    I am able to use a Java program from my PC to connect to the database using sqljdbc.jar
      Class.forName("com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver");
      String connectionUrl = "jdbc:sqlserver://xx.xx.xx.xx:4813;" +
            "databaseName=MYDB;user=my_user;password=abcdefg!;";
    I used NetWeaver Administration/Sys Mgmt/Monitoring/Logs  and didn't see anything interesting.
    I don't know what to do next and I don't have access to
    Thanks,

    Amy,
    Where is the server located? I think its the problem with some firewall blocking that port. Configure the firewall to allow the port.
    One more option you can try is to use system name instead of IP. Make an entry in the hosts file(drivers\etc) and use the server's host name and try. I had faced similar kind of problem before and this thing had worked for me.
