Squeeze Oranges... (I know.. It's Weird..)

Well first of all hello to every one..
I'm Amigo and I'm new to this forum.
I will explain my situation:
I got an assignment to make a movie in Flash, but I am not a
Flash user. I'm more in the direction of film making.
But the thing is- I really need to make this flash movie.
And well.. I would like some help.
I have learned lots of stuff in Flash during the past few
days, but not enough in order to do this assignment.
What I need to do is the following:
Its an Orange Juice Factory.
1. an opening scene to the movie. The movie starts only after
clicking the mouse.
2. a box of Oranges comes in.
3. oranges are washed
4. bad oranges are spotted and removed.
5. the remaining oranges are packed.
6. a hand or machine removes the packed oranges and it start
over.
- between each scene you need to click the mouse in order for
it to continue.
- All the scene are from above, looking down at what's
happening.
Now guys, this is a huge thing to ask, but if someone can
give me ideas and explain how this should be done, or maybe show me
an example, I would thank you so so so much. I have to do this but
I don't have the slightest idea of how to do it..
Thank you so much every one.
Amigo.

the functionality of the clicking is straight-forward.
the animation really depends on how impressive you want your
end result. its like asking "is it easy to draw a person?" when the
answer really depends on whether you're drawing a stick figure or
painting mona lisa... begin with some animation tutorials perhaps.
again, this is probably not the best forum for advice in that area.
you should probably have a look at some basic flash
action-script tutorials as well. but to answer your question: put a
button on frame 1. give the button the instance name
'continue_btn'. now put the following action-script on frame 1.
stop();
continue_btn.onRelease=function() {
play();
in plain english, this basically says stop here on frame 1,
and when the user clicks on the button, called 'continue_btn',
continue playing.
good luck!

Well you can't use it. The iOS 7 Activation Lock is pretty secure and you can't bypass it.

  • Anyone know what this weird video artifact might be?

It's not in my original footage, and it wasn't there when I started working. But as I continue to work, they continue to pop up where they weren't before. And once they're there, they seem to be burned into the video.
If anyone can shed some light, I'd be very grateful.

    No problem.
The project was started in AE CS5.5 on my Macbook Pro, but as it got more complex, it became unwieldy to work with on the less powerful machine. So I transferred it to my work computer, which is running CS6 on Windows 7 with NVIDIA Quadro 4000 and GPU acceleration. I know, that probably complicates things significantly. It should also be noted that the computer is brand new and this is the first AE project I've run on it.
As expected when jumping up to a newer version, AE generated a new project file with a copy of the existing project. Everything seemed to transfer correctly, but only after I'd been working a few hours did these artifacts begin to appear.
I do not have any third-party plug-ins installed that did not come with CS6.
I haven't been able to find anything in AE concerning OpenGL, so I'm not sure if that might be responsible.
The footage is 1080 XDCam 60i in an mp4 container.
Hope this helps, and thank you very much.

  • Weird Video Squeezing Problem

    Hello.
I'm having a weird video problem and I thought I'd see if anyone else has experienced it.
I'm running the MSI nforce board with an AthlonXP 1700+ with two Micron 256MB PC2100.  Firmware 2.6.  Windows XP Home Edition with SP1.  I have a four-year old ViewSonic GT775 that I've always had good luck with.
I've been using the latest nForce 2.93 drivers since they came out and am running the 41.03 Detonator drivers.  I've tried downgrading to the 40.72 with no change.
I run my desktop at 1024x768x32bit and what has started happening the past couple of days is that the image on my desktop will randomly squeeze in about a half-inch on each side.  It will stay like this for a while and then randomly go back.  It wouldn't be a big deal if it just stayed like this, but it randomly clicks back and forth.  Changing the color depth or refresh rate does not affect it.  Even shutting down and then restarting doesn't affect it.  If it was squeezed when I shut down, it'll be squeezed when I restart.
Very weird.  For now, every time it does it, I just use the monitor controls to resize the display, but it is annoying to have to do it.  It seems like right before its going to switch, I'll see minor tearing.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Could it be my monitor?  I do have another computer at work and I could bring the monitor home.  My experience in the past with monitors is that when they start to go, the colors change and the brightness dims and then they just stop working.  My monitor today is as crisp and bright as the first day I bought it, so I think it's the onboard video.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

Your image resize problem sounds like a refresh rate problem to me. It looks as if your monitor cannot catch the correct refresh or follow the hi speed refresh you ask. It can come from either the board, the monitor or just a bad connection. I would tend to say the monitor, as it is getting a bit old.
Failures in monitor can come from diffrent parts. If it is the electron canon, you can see a lowering of the luminosity/contrast. Same for the high voltage grid. A problem on your deflection parts could lead to a color shift or distorted image. Here, i'd say it is a problem with your synchronisation signal. Try a degauss also. You may just have a shifty ground.

  • Orange Screen in Motion or FCP

Why do i get orange screens or objects in Motion or FCP
Couldn't find anything in the manual under the word "orange"
does anyone know how to solve this ???

thanx for reply, read the article about rendering prob but this is something different
Also i already am updated to 3.0.1 and having orange screens.
Earlier i thought i had the orange screens because footage was too long in frames or too big in pixels
but today in this one shot as soon as i turn on the Key Primatte i get the orange screen.
What's weird is that Primatte worked all morning on other shots and ive already done primatte keys on this exact same footage before. In a pretty tight spots as to how i will get this shot done if motion refuses to cooperate ?

I deleted the playlists on my iPhone and when I now try to synchronize with my iTunes account to put the music back, nothing happens and I do not get the music back on my iPhone. Anyone who knows why that could be? Grateful for any suggestions!

I know it sounds weird, and that is the reason I posted my question.  Because my case is not like all the ones I've found online and it's confusing.  I added a screen capture of my itunes with my old iphone (the one that houses my playlists) connected to it.
My playlists "ARE"  in my iphone 4s.  They are still there even though they do not show up when I plug in to itunes in my computer.
When connecting my phone to itunes on my macbook, the playlists do not appear anywhere in itunes.  I have found my connected iphone icon, I have clicked on the arrow next to it and it does pull up the standard lists that come with the iphone/itunes:  Music, Movies, TV shows, books.  That's it! below that is "Genius" and below "Geniuns" is "PLAYLISTS"  but the only playlist of mine that shows there is one that I created several years back titled "90's music" and that one I created it on my computer, not my phone.  Under "90's music" there are also other standard playlists that itunes automatically adds.
Does anyone else have this issue or know how to get around this.  I am starting to think that I am going to have to recreate these lists on my computer

  • Firewire 800 speed weirdness

I recently purchased a four bay RAID array to replace the multitude of external drives that I've collected over the years. I installed four 1TB drives in a RAID 5 configuration to make up a 3TB array. The RAID model is the DM4 from Sabio (Sabio DAS DM4).
I connected it to my iMac via Firewire 800 (it has 2x FW800 ports, 1x FW400, 1x USB 2.0, 1x eSATA), and after hours of copying from the external USB drives I finally got everything migrated over to the new monster drive. However, I am seeing some weirdness in transfer speeds.
My iMac specs are as follows:
    Model Name: iMac
    Model Identifier: iMac7,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.8 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 4 GB
    Bus Speed: 800 MHz
    Boot ROM Version: IM71.007A.B03
    SMC Version (system): 1.21f4
I was testing copy speeds to the array by using the cp command in the terminal and watching the disk activity in iStat Menus (but you can get the same information out of Activity Monitor on the Disk Activity tab). Using cp, I was only able to push about 45MiB/s, which I found strange since this is near the maximum of FW400 (50MiB/s).
The truly weird thing, though, was using the same file, copying to the array in the Finder pushed the transfer up to 65MiB/s. The main question I have is why would that be? I've tried alternates on the command line as well, such as rsync but nothing moves as fast as the finder.
Now I get that writing to the array is going to be slower considering that I'm writing parity to all the drives, but I don't get the speed difference between the command line tools and the GUI Finder. Maybe it's a caching issue?
I'm also seeing a hit between the command line and the Finder with reads from the array. Unsurprisingly the reads are better than the writes, since I'm pulling from four drives. With the Finder, I'm able to pull at an average rate of 75MiB/s. The command line I read around 63MiB/s to 66MiB/s.
All these tests are the same file. The drive in the iMac is actually brand new (1TB Seagate), and it has barely anything on it so it's not some type of fragmentation issue. The only external drive on the iMac is this Sabio array.
So, does anyone have any ideas why I'm seeing such a speed difference between the command line and the GUI? Also, is there a way to work around this slow down on the command line? Hopefully someone knows more than I've found thus far.
    Thanks for your time,
    Adam.

You're right, I could use the Finder to do all my copies, but I typically don't use my systems at that level. I know that sounds weird, but I'm a Linux admin and systems engineer by trade and I live in the command-line/terminal all day long. I am a lot faster at manipulating the system via the command-line than I am with point and click. There are a lot of times that I just quit the Finder outright so I don't have to look at my Desktop icons (though I have the desktop turned off right now so I don't see any icons at all).
I generally use my iMac as a media center, where it serves media to my PS3 and what not. I also use it for some development work. My wife will use the machine for graphic design when she is working form home thus she's in the Adobe Creative Suite a lot of the time. With that said, the machine is mutli-user, and I typically use command-line programs to ensure that what I copy is copied correctly via rsync, or the cp -Rp commands.
Now, my observations were not really a concern, but more of a why-on-earth-is-this-happening type of thing. In the past, it used to be a lot faster and more efficient CPU wise to copy via the command-line than it was in the Finder. Now with Snow Leopard they seem to have gone the other way around. To me, it just seems that the command-line equivalent, which doesn't have any glitz or glamour at all, should be natively faster than the Finder, which has progress bars, drag-and-drop, etc.
So yeah, I can use the Finder, but it's not what I use normally.

  • What are these weird things in Apple Mail?

    Hi,
Does anyone know what these weird things are in Apple Mail? (Please ignore the yellow markers)
It often happens when I open the application in the first e-mail.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click the line of text below to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -f -a TextEdit
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Post the contents of that window, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}' | open -f -a TextEdit
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}' | open -f -a TextEdit
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null | open -f -a TextEdit
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • 720 progressive output from Sorenson Squeeze and Sony Z1 HDV

    Hi
I have a one off project where I need to film some shots in portrait 16:9 for output on (lots of) 720p digital screens on their sides. I plan on filming this with a Sony Z1 camera in 1080i HD mode on its side and then down-sizing in FCP and converting to progressive WMV files with Sorenson Squeeze.
I know the Z1 doesn't really do progressive filming. Would it be wise to hire a camera that does support it natively for best results? Or would Sorenson Squeeze do a good job of de-interlacing to 720p for HD LCD panels? Plus, does anyone know of a bracket-type attachment to mount cameras at 90 degrees on a tripod?
Any suggestions or tips for best results would be much appreciated, and thanks in advance for any help!

    Tom,
I don't think that your issue is with the Z1. I think that it is with HDV footage in general (nasty format and all) but you don't want to hear that so let's work on getting you going.
    1) You do need some sort of external monitor. YOu have several options, Cheapest is to buy a Matrox MXO and an Apple or Dell 24" monitor. Other options include cards from AJA or Blackmagic. If you are doing everything in HDV I would recommend something from AJA or BM that way you can capture to a more easily editable format like DVCProHD. Do a search for Kona, Blackmagic or capture cards aadn you will find a wealth of info.
    2) for this footage you need to look at the original tapes on an HD tv and see if you are seeing the same thing. This will determine if it is a compressor issue.
    3) How low did you set your bit rate? Max should be below 7 or some DVD players will have issues.
    4) in DVDSP you should be able to bring in your QT ref file and it will encode it for you. If it won't import it makes me wonder if it is being exported properly. Are you going out of FCP by FILE>EXPORT>QUICKTIME>with current settings, and check Make Movie Self-contained?
One more thing, in this process you are not working with film, others here may be more harsh about this but you are using video so let's call it what it is.

Thanks for the response, in regards to whether it is 1 or 2 Logical Facts, it is still the same behaviour. IN regards to the Logical Dimension, yes it is set with two LTS with the applicable content levels set. I even tried that as just 1 LTS doing the join through the General tab. Still the same behaviour with the drill-down. I am assuming it will always go through the full drill path regardless of what level the Fact you are hitting is at.

I have looked around and see a lot of talking about iMac G5 Rev. A and Rev. B, especially in topics on the fan noise.
I searched Apple's pages but found nothing to get more info.
How do I know what type of iMac G5 I have?

Ok, I know this sounds weird, but Revision A does not have an ambient light sensor (ALS), while Revision B has an ambient light sensor (ALS).
How do you tell if you have an ALS? If you do, it's located 1-1/2 inches to the right of the center screw on the base of the front panel.

  • Leopard weird freeze after 1-5 min. after login

Really don't know what this weird freeze is caused by. The freeze happens randomly, not in a specific application or anyting. But when it freeze, I can move the mouse, but it's the colorwheel thingy, and everything else works as normal, that is until I click it. Then it freezes.
    Example:
I'm running Firefox and surfes. Suddenly the colorwheel comes up. If I move this colorwheel outside of Firefox (down to the dock) it becomes an arrow again, and I can switch between icons in the dock. But when I click on an icon in the dock, then the dock freezes (again with the colorwheel).
And that happens with everything. The clock too. No shortscuts work either.
Only thing to do is power it down, with button on the back of the screen.
When I bought the computer, I also bought an extra ensurence with I used two weeks ago, with the same problem as descriped above. They sent it to Apple in Denmark and I got it back, with a note that they had changed the Harddrive. It did work until today. Now the same problem has come back to hunt me.
    So, here I have a 8 month old iMac I can't use
All tips and ideas are welcome.
    Really really need some help!

    Hi,
No one should have an iMac for eight months and not be able to utilize it. The most important thing you can do for such an investment is to learn how to perform maintenance tasks.
Have you tried booting from your restore disk to check for errors?
    If not...
Shut down your Mac. Now, press the power button, hold down the C key, and insert the restore disk all at the same time. Keep holding down the C key until you see the Apple logo. An Installer window will open but DO NOT proceed with any installations, instead from the Menu Bar, select Utilities/Disk Utility. In the DU window, select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab and click: Verify If DU reports errors, click Repair. When it's finished, from the Menu Bar select Utilities/Startup Disk and select MacintoshHD 10.x.x and click Restart.
And have you performed any maintenance lately?
Go here: Mac OS X: How to force background maintenance tasks (logs and temporary items)
Repair Disk Permissions using Disk Utility.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select FirstAid, then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.

  • Noob question: Casting and coverting

I thought I completely had my head around this before, but now I wonder if I do...
    I know that for:
    class citrus {
    void squeeze() {citrus juice}
    AND
    class orange extends citrus {
    void squeeze() {orange juice}
    citrus C = new orance();
C.squeeze will give me orange juice, because although the reference in a citrus, the object is actually an orange.
My question is, under what circumstances will I get citrus juice?
For instance, will ((citrus)C).squeeze() give me citrus juice?

My question is, under what circumstances will I get
    citrus juice?
    citrus C = new citrus();
C.squeeze(); // Will give you citrus juiceNow, you got me thirsty. :)

  • Docking iPhone crashes mac

This doesn't seem like quite the right category, but is the closest of any I saw (as contacts and calendar are part of syncing, and that's when I have trouble).
I've had an 8GB iPhone since November, working fine until recently. A couple of weeks ago, when I put the phone in the dock, my primary monitor went blank, got the little "no signal" dialog on it. My secondary monitor remained on, but the comp was locked up. Had to hold the power button to get it to power down.
After rebooting, I docked the iPhone and it worked fine.
The next day, the same thing happened, except that the monitor did not go out, the comp just locked up upon docking. After weeks of this, it seems that - and I know this is weird - the problems occur only the second time I dock the iPhone after a reboot. In other words, start up the computer, dock the iPhone, take it out of the dock - all without problem. Dock it again, the computer locks up; sometimes the monitor goes out.
Any ideas how to go about troubleshooting? I've repaired permissions and run diskwarrior.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Update: this happened again last night, and I noticed that the monitor did not say "no signal", but rather "out of range", as if docking the iPhone had somehow changed the monitor resolution. It must be more than that, though (as if that weren't enough), because if it were a change in monitor resolution, it would revert back without a confirmation, right? Also noted that it wasn't completely locked up: I was able to move the cursor over to the other monitor and watch the spinning beach ball as long as I wanted, though I couldn't get anything else to happen. I've tried apple-option-escape before, but I guess I wouldn't know if it worked or not, as the dialog box would come up on the knocked out monitor, so I end up powering down with the power button.
Also, I didn't mention in my original post that I have tried resetting the iPhone - chose the factory fresh option rather than restoring from a backup in case that would help (didn't, obviously).
One other detail: when I booted up again, the monitor display was only displaying about half the screen - the other half was dark. The half that was showing was displayed correctly (it wasn't the whole image "squeezed" into the left half of the display). Turning the monitor off and on corrected the problem.
Also, after posting yesterday, I updated to 10.4.11 and the January iPhone release; this latest crash happened with the updates installed.
