Srw.run_report desformat=pdf, output is missing

Hi,
Could someone please help me with the following:
I have 2 reports, rep1.rdf and rep2.rdf.
rep1.rdf has a formula column in which I invoke rep2.rdf with the following syntax:
srw.run_report('report=rep2.rdf '||
' destype=file'||
' desname=test.pdf'||
' desformat=pdf'||
' background=Yes');
On the client (windows2000), it works fine. After completion there is a test.pdf file in my directory.
When I run the report from the concurrent manager from Oracle Applications 11i, I don't get an error message, but there isn't a pdf file created.
Has someone any suggestions? I'm allready searching for 2 days and I'm not finding the solution...

It may be that rep2.rdf is not in REPORTS60_PATH. You can turn on tracing (tracefile=youTraceFile.txt traceopts=trace_all) and error file (errfile=yourErrorFile.txt) to see if there are any errors being detected which aren't being report through the concurrent manager log files. You can also use srw.message() functions to add to these tracefiles or the PL/SQL file IO functions to trace yourself.

I have reports2.5 and using srw,run_report I want to call another report. NOw I have registered this in oracle apps 11.0.3 . Now through oracle apps if I run the main report it has to call the child report (calling via srw.run_report) and the output should be put in the Unix server directory /tmp/

Some text goes missing in the PDF output after I convert FM8 book

Hi,
I am using Framemaker 8.0, Acrobat 8.0 Professional, Acrobat Distiller 8.0.
When I convert my Framemaker books to PDFs, some text (especially Table Heading tags) go missing in the PDF output. I have tried to change the font colour, change the cell shading, and many other options. But, the problem persists.
I saw some similar links on the forums with this kind of problems. For example,

After going through these links from the forums, I realized that this is a known issue. But, the above links direct me to Microsoft patches and these patches are available only for Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, and Windwos Vista operating systems. My operating system is Windows 7 Professional, 32-bit version.
One more thing I want to say is we have never faced this problem earlier. It started appearing now.
While I know that the world (many of us) moved on to Framemaker 9 and 10, I also know that there is someone out there to help me to overcome this issue.

Thanks for your response.
We tried this option also. In fact, the Distiller shows this option by default. Secondly, we have recently updated our old template to reflect the new corporate styles and we suspect something went wrong there. We once again took the old template and updated with the new colour definitions and fonts, this time very carefully and it started working. Now, the text is not missing.
So, the result is something is wrong with our template. Quite surprising is it is inconsistent and some places the text appears and some places it does not.
Where do you work? Are you in India?

Data missing in PDF output generated by RDF locally only for one time.

Hi All,
Could any one please help me in finding the reason of the below mentioned issue.
I have downloaded an RDF onto local machine and changed only sorting of few columns required.
After that I had generated PDf output on local machine for first few times PDF is generated with correct output.
Unfortunately when I again generated PDF output as final version, a few columns are missed in displaying in the PDF output. again I ran the RDF for next time and the PDF is generated correctly.
Now I want to know what may be the reason that for that time only PDF generated with missing data.
FYI, Problem occured in Report Builder *9.0.4.0.33*
This reason is really urgent and needfull for me.

What is the report orientation PORTRAIT/LANDSCAPE? What happens if you set the SYSTEM PARAMETER ORIENTATION to PORTRAIT/LANDSCAPE upon your report output and then generate again. While saving as PDF also see the page orientation.

Using srw.run_report in report server

Dear all,
I'm running a report (report A) on the report server and after it is running (printing output on screen), I need to run report B at the background and save the output of report B to the file system. In the report A's After Report Trigger, I have a srw.run_report function, the syntax is: srw.run_report('server='||v_serverName||' report='||v_reportName||' batch=yes destype=file desname=/tmp/output.pdf desformat=pdf p_startdate=''12-JUN-2003'' p_enddate=''14-JUN-2003'''). When I run the above syntax (without the server name part) in report builder, it works fine. But I couldn't get it working on the report server. Each time report A runs, report B couldn't be run at all (no job id was given or scheduled). Could anyone give me an idea on whether srw.run_report could be used in the report server?

our report is launched from servelet. because of some security issues, I would like to use this built in to change it to command line after user enter all the parameters through the parameter form.

Problems with SRW.RUN_REPORT on 10gReport Server (9.0.4)

I have recently upgraded to 10gReport Server (9.0.4) and for the most part have no problems running reports. However, when running reports that call other reports, the srw.run_report server call hangs. Found that this is a bug in 9.0.4. Work around is to not include the server parameter in the run_report string.
Current string appears this way in the Before Report Trigger:
srw.run_report('batch=yes report=(reportpath)\comptype.rdf destype=cache desformat=pdf');
srw.run_report('batch=yes report=(reportpath)\stdomicile.rdf destype=file desformat=pdf');
However, when running from the calling report, it will render in pdf for the user, but the comptype.rdf and stdomicile.rdf reports error with the following message:

When checking OH\reports\cache..all reports are available and printable, but for some reason they are not rendering in pdf to the screen. I did not have this problem prior to moving to 9.0.4 report server.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why the reports will not render correctly? Users cannot get to the cache file to manually print themselves.

We're having the same problem with our upgrade to 10g (9.0.4). I'm getting the REP-52251 error and no report output in Adobe.

SRW,Run_Report not working on Report Server

1 The plan is to do a select in the mother report. Get a number of rows, among them a company name, which the SQL is sorted on.
2 In the data model I have a function that checks if a global variable is the same as the company name. If not, it will set the global variable equal to the company name, and then it will run a global defined function that starts the SRW.Runreport call that generates a PDF for this company.
3 Next row the same thing will happen, and maybe the function is run again, or maybe it is the same company, in which case the SRW function will be skipped.
The report runs nicely from reports builder, but when I try running it on the server it fails with error: REP-1401: 'cf_doc_trans_letterformula': Fatal PL/SQL error occurred. ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called.

Are there any special settings I must make, when running on a Reports Server as opposed to the Reports Ruilder? Do I need a SERVER=REP_SERVER in the SRW.Run_Report parameter list?

How to use srw.run_report without userid parameter in 10g

I have the following function which works fine when I supply the userid parameter.
Is it possible to run srw.run_report without the userid? If not is there another way to run a batch report to create a file?

Font subsetting issue with srw.run_report

I have PDF subsetting as
"Courier" = "MSGOTHIC.TTC"
I have a report emp.rdf. This emp report just displays the data from emp table.
I have a report dept.rdf. This dept report just displays the data from dept table.
In the after report trigger of the dept, I added
srw.run_report(report=emp destype=file desname=emp.pdf desformat=pdf);
I am running the dept report from command line as
rwclient server=<servername> userid=<user/pwd@db> report=dept destype=file desname=dept.pdf desformat=pdf
The report hangs. I tried moving the after report trigger to before report trigger and it fails too.
Any ideas?

Can you try running this report from the Reports Builder, ie, use File > Generate to file > pdf, and see if both the master and child files are generated.
If yes, can you post both server and engine trace file contents (last few lines) of the instance when you run it from the server, and not from Builder.

I had a requirement with reports
Explanation of the requirement.
I had a report aaa.rdf which gives a (one)employee monthly details.
which need to be output in PDF.
now the requuirement is
I had added labels "next-month" and "previous-month" labels at either side of report title.
I need the code to kept in these labels such that when this report is executed and taken into PDF file, when user
user clicks on the "next-month" or "previous-month" in that PDF file, the action to take is it should re-ran the same report(aaa.rdf) and should display the output in PDF in the same window but now the output should show the
coressponding next-month or previous-month results respectively of that employee.
please let me know if this make sense.
please guide for the above requirement.

it is not too late ....
It's possible to add such Hyperlinks to the pdf-Output of a report.
With use of the built-in rw.set_hyperlink('hyperlink') in a format trigge you can realize that. "hyperlink" is for example then something like:
'/reports/rwservlet?destype=cache&desformat=pdf&report=drilldetail.jsp&userid=scott/tiger@josi&p_deptno='||:deptno
In your case it's a call to the same report you run before and you had to set your month-parameter in the call depending your current month (next or previous).
With srw.set_hyperlink_attrs('string') it's possible to add additional attributes like for example
srw.set_hyperlink_attrs('target=_new')
which opens a new browser window.
This works for HTML & PDF.

Diff bet. run_product and srw.run_report

In reports 6i is there any difference in architecture between using run_product and srw.run_report(which according to 6i doc calls rwrun60.exe)? The reason is I that have the same report submitted by the above two processes produce font difference in the output pdf file. One gives courier and the other gives courier new where as my actual report font is courier.
Is ther any difference in the architecture?(run_product uses any in-process report server where as rwrun submits to the report server??)?
Any advice or suggestion or pointers will be highly appreciated!!

Ensure that your uifont.ali does not have aliases for Courier font under the [Global] or [Printer] section.

srw.run_report package may not be used in webservice. It does fit to server/client application.

Srw.run_report problem

i'm trying to run a report inside another report using srw.run_report routine, but i get the following error:

Action:     You can take the following actions to correct this error:
        If Case 1:     Make sure the file is stored in the specified directory under the specified name. If it is not, change the directory and/or filename as appropriate.
        If Case 2:     Make sure that you have the privileges necessary to open the file. If you do not, change your privileges accordingly.
        If Case 3:     Consult your operating system documentation or contact your system administrator.Hope this helps.

I have one report "analyse" that calls another report "pdf".
In "analyse" i have a function pdf_rep:

SRW.Run_Report is not working in Reports from 6i to 10g

I have a report .rdf file that submits another .rdf report using the SRW.Run_Report. This code was working fine in Reports 6i version. We are upgrading the Reports 6i to Reports 10g, and did a small change in the call i.e., Removed the server parameter, and it is not working. This is in Oracle E-Business Suite environment. The first report is called as a Concurrent Program. Here is the call that was working fine in Reports 6i (i.e., Oracle Apps 11i environment)

Yes, it's done using MOD-PLSQL version 10.1.2.0.2.
I did as you said: compared the 2 generated HTML files. It's not that it doesn't generate all tags. It generates all tags but some of them are different, that is it screws them up.
Here it is some example code.
