SSAS -- Process Update..?

All,
Good day .. :)
While i am processing the cube with Process Full.. It failed with Duplicate Key at one dimension ..
Again , i did the same cube with Process UPDATE. It simply executed successfully ..
I am bit confused .. why it is doing like that .. Could you please explain.
Thanks,
Mahesh Alam

Hi Mahesh,
In your scenario, when processing the cube with Process Full. It failed with Duplicate Key at one dimension. However process the same cube with Process update, it simply executed successfully, right?
Based on my research, the issue can be caused by the ErrorConfiguration Property of dimension. The ErrorConfiguration object is central to the management of data integrity errors. The server comes with a default error configuration (in the msmdsrv.ini config
file). The error configuration can also be specified on the database, dimension, cube, measure group and partition. Please refer to the links below to see the details.

  • CAN ANY BODY EXPLAIN ABOUT "PROCESS DEFAULT" IN SSAS PROCESSING OPTIONS

Hi, i am working with SQL Server 2008R2.
    working for SSAS Tuning.
I want to Know about "PROCESS DEFAULT" option, whether it calculates the aggregations on Measure groups and Dimensions for both or not.
Please explain me about this Option in detail..
    SUPRAJA'S

"Default" processing is mainly useful during development, when you tend to change structures of objects of the cube, but the data content does not change. Then it optimizes processing, only processing the parts of the cube affected by the structural
    change.
Default processing detects the state of all objects like dimensions, cubes, measure groups, partitions, aggregations. The state can be any of processed, unprocessed, or partly processed. Process default brings the partly or unprocessed objects to processed
state. It does not check if any data has changed on the relational data source, it just checks the state of the objects in the database.
An object can get to unprocessed state in one of the following ways:
    If you newly create it.
If you change the objects structure. making sub objects just visible or invisible does not change the structure, nor does renaming sub objects in most cases, but adding or removing sub objects does.
If you explicitly unprocess it (using the Unprocess or Clear process options of the process command).
If you process an object on which the current object depends, and do that in a way that does not keep relations. E. g. if you do a full process of a dimension, all measure groups related to the dimension will get unprocessed. If you do a "Process Update"
of the dimensions, the measure groups stay processed.
Please mark as Answer if this helps!

  • Automatic row processing updating my primary key

    Hi all!
In Apex 3.2, I've got an Interactive report with a DML form on a table. My table has a primary key which use a sequence (trigger based). When I created my forms, I specified that I wanted to use an existing trigger as the source type of the primary key.
When I try to create a record, it work. If I try to create a new record and save, my trigger give me an error message because the automatic row processing is trying to update the primary key too. (My trigger on the update specify that the primary key should not be updated).
So my question is : How can I make the automatic row processing update everything but the primary key ? (I noticed that I could have asked APEX to use my SEQUENCE directly instead of the trigger (in the creation Wizard). But I dont know how to change this now that my form is created.)
Is there a source type that I can change in my primary key item ?
Note : My primary key item (id_emp) is protected and hidden. If I display it as "Display only", the update works... But I dont need to see id_emp on my form.

    OK,
From your first post, it sounds as though the process is trying to perform an INSERT rather than an UPDATE. It is, therefore, trying to create a new record using a primary key that already exists on the table.
If that is the case, then we need to go through the points along that route:
1 - when you load a record into the page, the primary key page item should be given a value. So, firstly, check the link is populating the correct page item. And then, when the page has loaded, click the Session button on the Developer's toolbar at the bottom of the screen and check that the value is there
2 - when the page loads, one, and only one, page item should have the primary key value. This should be P3_NO_EMPLOYE*. Check other page items to make sure that their source is not NO_EMPLOYE. Again, check with using the Session button to see if the value appears anywhere else on the page
3 - when the page loads, the "SAVE" button should become visible. Check that this is conditional on P3_NO_EMPLOYE being NOT NULL
4 - there should be one, and only one, button that triggers the SAVE action. Check that there are no other buttons that either (A) are called SAVE or (B) trigger the INSERT SQL database action
5 - when the SAVE button is clicked, the "Process Row of..." process should be triggered and, because the button is SAVE and, therefore, sends "SAVE" as the REQUEST value, the process identifies this request as an Update database action. Check that you have Update ticked on the process and that you only have one process that can perform the update
6 - it is possible to change the value of the Request after a button has been clicked, so check that you have no computations or processes that run before the "Process Row of..." process

  • Is anyone else having problems with App Store not processing updates?

For last 36 hours, App Store is not processing updates. Rebooted, and hard rebooted. Tried tapping on apps to force a download, from the Purchased list and the home screen. Ipad also will not access new 8.1 version today. Any suggestions?

  • Processing Updated Publish Criteria taking too long...

So I have installed Lightroom 4 along with an updated plugin for Smugmug....
My question is...everytime I start Lightroom or try to export to jpg etc. the following process starts with this message -- "Processing Updated Publish Criteria for com.smugmug.lightroom.publish" and takes about 2 minutes to complete.
I thought this was related to the Smugmug plugin and contacted the developer...he didn't think this was normal and suggested I post on here...
    Anyone have thoughts on this?
    Thanks,
    Chris

The same problem had been bugging me since switching over to LR4. The only way I found to fix it was to delete any of the smugmug publishing services you have set up; that would be the area on the left sidebar where you drag images to be published. Right-click (in windows anyway, I don't know how other platforms work) on the publish service, then click "delete publish service". I had to do that for ALL the smugmug publish services I had set up. Now go back and recreate your publish service(s).
This process will cause your new publish service to be without any references to images on your smugmug site. If that's important to you then you need to tell the plug-in to sync the photos too. To do that, go to the smugmug plugin, check the box "Sync Photos" and click Sync Now. It may take some time to do a complete sync and you may need to verify images manually.
I haven't found any other workaround for the problem, but this does work.

  • 8.2 EPPM which process updates the extended schema?

Hello which process updates the 8.2 EPPM extended schema and is it possible to invoke from sqlplus command line?
Is there any doc. that shows which extended schema fields map to the main schema, are there any calculations being done or is it a straight copy?

Here are the services you need to start:
    Project Arbiter service
    Publish Project service
    Publish Enterprise Data
    Publish Enterprise Summaries
    Publish Resource Management
    Publish Security

  • Automatic Row Processing (Update not running)

I have an Automatic Row Processing routine that returns the success message, but it never performs the updates.
I Put a special message in the Process Success and Failure Messages and the Success message comes up everytime with no database updates happening.
I changed the table name to a table that DOESN'T exists just to see if the failure message appears and I still get the Process Success Message.
Any ideas why the DML say's it's success when it's not doing anything?

Edited by: spuchc on Jun 4, 2010 7:48 AM

That doesn't appear to be the issue.
When I update the data for the of views on the page they work fine and have specific button names.
Also I've tried used PL/SQL Expression instead of button controls to fire the DML and it does fire.
Since it's not generating the update statement (when I look in V$SQL), why would APEX even given me back a "Success" message?
Also when I change the view name in the DML process to a bogus name, it still tells me "Success".
I'm going to look at calling my backend API's directly without the Apex DML because I've tried everything I know and it's just this one view that won't updated.

  • To find out how many rows are processed/updated?

    Hi Gurus,
I have given an update statement with parallelism. The data to be processed is huge around 50 million records.
I know that from OEM, we can find out how many rows it has processed or completed. I would like to know the dictionary view/ query to find out the same in SQL Plus.

  • Background Processing & Update Task

Are "background processing" and "update task" processing the same? I have a function which is timing out and I need to have it run in the background.  If I used the CALL FUNCTION <name> IN UPDATE TASK, would that provide the same resource level and time allowance as having the logic run via a SUBMIT?

    Hi,
This is the F1 documentation for calling a FM in Update task
Flags the function module func for execution in the update task. It is not executed at once, but the data passed with EXPORTING or TABLES is placed in a database table and a subsequent COMMIT WORK then causes the function module to be executed by the update task.
This is the F1 documentation for calling a FM in background task
Flags the function module func to be run asynchronously. That is, it is not executed at once. Instead, the data passed using EXPORTING or TABLES is placed in a database table and the next COMMIT WORK executes it in another work process.
    Hope this helps

  • Can a process update report Headings?

Does anyone know how to use a process to directly update Report Headings, perhaps using the HTMLDB API? I need dynamic headings determined at run time, but I cannot use the PL/SQL Headings Type because I have too many columns in the report (the delimited headings string exceeds HTMLDB's length limit).

    500 columns!
I thought there was a limit of 60 columns on report regions.
In any case, there is also a limit on the total size of each row returned (regardless of number of columns). Are you not running into that limitation?
See the discussion at Re: Report with Tabs - Enhancement Request? , that might help you. Basically, break the 500 columns into groups that make sense and put each set of columns in a tab and flip between them using the techniques in that thread.
This way, each report has a more manageable number of columns and you can stay under the varchar2(4000) limit.

  • PSI - Budget Field is not getting after running Process Update Summary Bal

    Hi,
I have a project with Budget being created through Financial Plan types. After Baselining the budget and performing Actual Transactions, i run Process 'PRC: Update Project Summary Amounts for a Single Project' and 'PRC: Update Project Summary Amounts'. System updates Project Status Inquiry - PSI with Actual Transactions but Budget field is getting updated and it keeps on showing as Zero Budget.
Whereas when i create project with Budget Entry Method and not through Financial Plan Types, PSI is correctly updated after running these processes. Is PSI budget field intended for Budget Entry from Application Based Forms Only or there is something else i need to do get the PSI Bidger field updated.
Thoughts on this would be highly appreciable.

    Hi Dina
Thanks for your reply, please confirm what i have to do in order to populate the data to PSI from Financial Plan.

  • Fuji X-Pro 1 Raw file processing updated in 4.2?

With the release of 4.2 now supporting Fuji X-E1, does anyone know if this update fixes Fuji X-Pro 1 raw files?

I come across these sorts of post all the time while searching up information on a particular subject. You get some big shot in the community throwing a non-helpful reply out there.
The big shot with their non-helpful reply always seemed a bit… I don’t know, careless, smug. A lot of times I’m trying to research a subject and the reply comes across a lot like, well, I know it and so should you. Not always the case though. (In my job I’m asked a lot of simple questions, what I consider obvious. Things that are in the manual. I never brush people off so hastily though. I sit and help them because I don’t know… that seems like the proper thing to do)
Perhaps it’s just me, that I don’t think it’s appropriate to just brush someone off so easily. Perhaps it’s in my nature to put a thoughtful reply up. That even if I don’t fully understand the subject, I’d take the time to do a little research and see what I can find to help someone. I don’t subscribe to the mentality of just telling someone to “Google it”. I understand that Ian didn’t tell OP to google it, but I feel his replies are based in that same mind set.
It’s not just about brushing people off because they ask a question you feel they can answer themselves. I understand there’s a lot of information out there to those that know how to seek it. Not everyone does though and it’s wrong to assume as such. It’s better as a community to help people, even if their questions seem straight forward.
All I’ve found concerning raw files for the X-E1 so far are lab pictures. They don’t really correlate that well to real world performance and images. Though they may exhibit some of the problems, it doesn’t feel like I’m getting a clear image of the situation. Most of the threads I’ve found on the subject only have one image propped up as an example (Typically an image I don’t consider to be all that well shot, so what I can judge from it is still debatable)
Plus, I’d want other people’s experiences. Especially as a potential owner. I can only gather so much from a few sparse raw files.
Lastly, I’m not in a position at the moment to download random raw files and put them through lightroom. Even if I have a few moments to share, I’m not at a computer where I have access to lightroom/can install lightroom trial. This will change, in time, obviously, but at the moment this is the spot I’m in.
Sometimes there are problems like this, but at some point they get fixed. It can be difficult to sort through months of post of people complaining before you find the post where they say it’s fixed. People tend to quiet down after problems are fixed, so mostly what you still come across is the hordes of people that complained about it being broken.
Dog me if you’d like over the fact that I replied to a post that was a few months old. I don’t care. Obviously it reached someone.
P.S. Sometimes it’s really nice to talk to another human being when you have a problem or question. I think a lot of people are conditioned to do that. Questions may not always be necessary, but that doesn’t mean they should be shrugged off. There was a time where we didn’t have this magical land of porn and cat photos and in those days it was quite acceptable to ask each other questions, even on simple subjects.

  • How do I process updates in Service Station

My previous message did not show so am repeating.
I am asked in Service Station to press a Download button for a CyberLink Power DVD update but there is no such button.
Another update says press the Download/Install button but I would like more info before using the Install button.  Is that meaning press download first then install or press either button if one exists?
Am I correct in presuming the references to Download, Download/Install all mean press Install?
If so how do I learn more info about the updates in Service Station before installing?

Windows 8.1 Toshiba service station has the buttons you specified, yes the install button means download and install.
I updated the CyberLink Power DVD using the Toshiba service station, click install and it showed download progress then asked permission to extract and install.
The Toshiba service station will show bios updates also, verify by going to your support page to see if that new version is available for you model. I have updated the bios using the service station without any problems except this time, the picture below shows a bios update that is not on my support page and when I tried to install it an error came up saying this update is not for my computer. So apparently it can make mistakes. Verify first, and you can download and install manually if you want to.

  • SSAS Cube Dimension Processing Fails Reporting: File system error: A FileStore error from WriteFile occurred

    Hi,
I have a SSAS Cube Database for which the processing had been stopped since the year 2012, but as the requirements have again come up, this cube needs to be processed on a daily basis again, to refresh the cube with new incoming data.
As i was testing the cube processing steps before finally re-activating the cube processing in production, i came across a weird error while doing a manual processing for a Dimension.
File system error: A FileStore error from WriteFile occurred. Physical file: \\?\D:\MSAS10.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Data\Citi.184.db\Dim Extended Data.0.dim\54.Extended Data.ksstore. Logical file: . . Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred
while the 'Extended Data' attribute of the 'ExtendedData' dimension from the 'Citi' database was being processed.
This error came to me while i was doing a process update for the dimension, i even tried to do a Process Full for the same dimension which did not help. I then did a Unprocess and then a Process Full, which didn't work as well.
Can anyone please help me with this issue. I am using the SQL Server 2008 where the cube is hosted and the processing used to work fine earlier, but now its failing with this error.
    Thanks

This looks like the 4GB string store limit. If you can upgrade to SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services, you can change a simple setting and grow beyond that 4GB string store limit.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg471589(SQL.110).aspx
If you can't upgrade, what data is in that ExtendedData attribute? If it's a meaningless surrogate key that you don't need users to see, you can use this trick to avoid the 4GB string store limit:
http://cwebbbi.wordpress.com/2012/08/10/storage-and-the-namecolumn-and-keycolumns-properties/ But if it's something the users need to see, there's not an easy way to fix it without upgrading to SSAS 2012.
