  • Ssl_error_rx_record_too_long   with email

I am receiving Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long on Firefox when trying to access rcn webmail using  Verizon Wireless 4G LTE USB Modem 551L.. Any suggestions

    Try deleting your browser cache.
Sometimes if your system is a little slow, and or you have enough in your browser cache, the transaction will take too long and time out  and throw an error.  SSL is time sensitive for security reasons.
If you want, you could download CCleaner from  Piriform as an easy way to clean your browser files etc.
    Cheers

I can't seem to get any new email from TB. I'm on the latest version 31.4.0. I am able to get my Charter email on my phone and direct off the web. I have double checked the imap.charter.net:143 and smtp.charter.net:25. I did change my password yesterday online with Charter. Now, TB just sits and does nothing.
    I get the following errors:

Error: An error occurred during a connection to imap.charter.net:143.

That's an issue with your mail server. Try using another port (you can confer with your mail server's responsibles) or investigate link below:

  • I sporadically can't use certain Google features (Gmail, Documents, Calendar, etc.). The error I always get is "SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long"

SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.
    Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long
I get the above message often (but not always) when trying to access my Gmail account, Google docs, calendar, etc. There's really no rhyme or reason for when it works vs. when it doesn't, but I've found that typing in something like "www.gmail.com" never works. When I use the history (or the search bar) it occasionally works.

Just cleared out the cache and removed all cookies, but I'm getting the same error when I try to open my Google Calendar.

  • Ssl_error_rx_record_too_long keep getting this error message when trying to access amazon secure pages also on IE and on firefox android what is it?

thought problem was solved but keeps recurring; v frustrating since at times all works fine while at others...
    I have a direct connection and the no proxy option selected on firefox connection settings;

    I spoke too soon,
    I reckon the main feature of the problem is its fickleness;
a minute ago I managed a purchase on amazon, now I can't even log in.
Checked with isp provider; MTU size is correct ; they don't think there is an issue with them; they advised to check firewall settings; but this doesn't account for the problem being on and off. For what is worth I use windows firewall and norton as antivirus.
    Any ideas?

  • I am using FFnightly and all of a sudden I get the msg Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long) only one one website which I need to access

The website can be accessed ok from another computer in the office. It happened about 3 days ago (I think after an auto update) and I hoped it would clear. I use win8.1. I tried one of the solutions and deleted Cert8db in the profile, but that did not help. I also re-set Nightly and it did not solve the problem.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Check the connection settings.
    *Tools > Options > Advanced > Network : Connection > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
    See "Firefox connection settings":
Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
Some firewalls monitor (secure) connections and may be causing problems with secure connections.

  • I am getting an error code Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long when I try to open my website, but it does work if I open a new tab, why?

Is this a problem with my pc or the website? Does it make a difference if the site is password protected?

    Hi,
There was a LONG discussion on the forum 4 months ago about this exact issue and it was affect Shaw customers. You can see it at [/questions/976504]. However, cor-el mentioned a fix that worked for users and it said:
Make sure to reset the security.tls.version.max pref to 1 if you have previously changed this pref to 0 to disable TLS 1.0
Can you see if that helps?
This is most likely not what's happening but it's safe to go over previously solved questions.

  • [SOLVED] Apache Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long

    Hello,
I have been fighting with this error for the past week, with lots of googling, but no dice.
I get the above error when trying to access a web page through apache using ssl.
    Any pointers?
I am assuming this is a configuration problem...
    Thanks!

you obviously have the ssl mod enabled? i'v seen this problem occur when the module is not enabled but the admin thinks that it is. can you verify?

  • Connection error appears: "the internet connection has been closed because it cannot be analyzed", then if refreshed: "ssl_error_rx_record_too_long".

This is only happening on one computer in the house (the other computer and laptop access internet just fine). I can not access any websites.
In about:config nothing appears in the "security.enable" search
Proxy is set to "no proxy"
I am using avast antivirus (a detailed scan showed no viruses" I also did an AdwClearner, which did not help either.
THANK YOU for your help, this is really frustrating!

    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/security.tls.version.*
    0 means SSL 3.0, 1 means TLS 1.0, 2 means TLS 1.1, 3 means TLS 1.2 etc.

  • Error: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long

Was just using Facebook a few minutes ago and it was working fine. Went back to it and now I'm getting this error. Same when I go to www.google.ca. The webpages work fine in Internet Explorer, and the problem persists on the Firefox browser of every computer connected to my network. There is no proxy issue, it is set to "No Proxy". Going into Safe Mode doesn't work either. I have rebooted my router, and that also hasn't fixed the problem. There is also no problem with my HOSTS file. Have also attempted to disable my anti-virus and firewall. I cannot find any more solutions online so I've run out of things to try.

Check at the server side whether the certificate chain file has been configured properly. Sometimes the intermediate certificate is not defined (apache has SSLCertificateChainFile property for this).
