SSL on application server

How do I configure your embedded Tomcat to do SSL? My JSF application requires user certificates, and I need to be able to debug it.

For those who want to debug programs using ssl, it can be done. you just have to get the non-ssl program to throw a FacesException (I check for a client certificate). Then you can load the same URL with https and port 11043 and it will debug. But there should be a way to get Creator to launch the debugger in the correct SSL context.

  • WebServer 6.1 SP3 SSL reverse proxy to Sun One Application Server 7

I have an application in the appserver7 that requires SSL authentication. I have already installed a self cert in the appserver7, and the authentication works fine when I browse directly to the appserver.
The appserver7 has both listener for port 80 and 443 enabled.
I'm currently setting up a webserver (WebServer 6.1 SP3) to act as a reverse proxy to the appserver7. The reverse proxy for the basic jsp pages found in the appserver worked fine.
When I try to access the login page, in the appserver, in ssl mode, I am unable to do so. I then try changing the obj.conf to the following, from http to https:
    <Object name="passthrough">
    ObjectType fn="force-type" type="magnus-internal/passthrough"
    Service fn="service-passthrough" method="(GET|HEAD|POST)" servers="https://172.2
    8.48.53"
    However, it still doesn't work.
Do I need to install a self cert in the webserver and enable the ssl listener as well?
Do I need to install any reverse proxy addon for the appserver? Any
setup for the obj.conf in the appserver?
Any ideas how to get this done?
    Thanks.
    Mac.

The Web Server 6.1 SP3 Reverse Proxy Plugin is supported, but it sounds like you're trying to do something that simply isn't possible.
If you want the Reverse Proxy Plugin to perform SSL mutual authentication with the Application Server using the client's certificate, that's impossible due to the nature of SSL mutual authentication. If the plugin could impersonate the client, then SSL would be vulnerable to MITM (Man In The Middle Attacks). Fortunately, SSL isn't vulnerable to such attacks because the plugin doesn't know the client's private key.
If you simply want the Reverse Proxy Plugin to pass information about the client's certificate along to the Application Server, that hapens automatically. There's nothing special to configure. Note that the plugin will not authenticate to the Application Server in this case. Rather, it will simply copy the X.509 certificate into the proprietary Proxy-auth-cert: HTTP request header.
The application running on the Application Server can inspect the Proxy-auth-cert: header using standard Servlet APIs. Alternatively, you can use Application Server 7's auth-passthrough AuthTrans SAF to cause the contents of the Proxy-auth-cert: header to be copied to the javax.servlet.request.X509Certificate Servlet attribute.

  • SSL test in Oracle Application Server 10.1.2

    Hi ,

Now we need to implement SSL to secure user credentials. So i am planing to implement SSL in our web cacahe server. Will this be enough to secure user credentials??I dont have any idea. Please help.
Moreover our web cache is not configured in SSL during the time of installation. Can any body suggest me a place from where i could get one demo Certificate to put it onto my web server and test the SSL confiration.EBS has provided one demo for application tier(inside $ORACLE_HOME/apache/certs/).
But we will have to implement in web cahe tier not in application tier.
We are using EBS 12.0.4 in Hp-Ux v11.23.

  • Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 and SSL

    Hi,
We want to use SSL in combination with Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5. I installed Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 on Windows 2008R2 64 bit. After that I installed 64 bit java(jdk-6-26-windows-x64.exe) to run jvm in 64bit. I'm facing the following problem. The wallet manager won't run on Windows 2008R2 64bit because we're using 64bit jdk. There is also a commandline version; mkwallet. When I start this up it says "Oracle Wallet Commandline tool for 32bit Windows" I also can't create a certificate or certificate request. When I install a 32bit java version I also get a different JAVA_HOME, and that I don't want.
What if I install Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.5 on a 32bit OS and use there also a 32bit jdk, then use wallet manager to generate a certificate? Can I than use this wallet on the 64bit windows and 64bit jdk?
What other options are there available in this situation to use SSL? Is for example keytool from java an option?
    Kind regards,
    Herman

    Hi,
Here an update on this situation. I installed Oracle SOA Suite 10.1.3.5 on Windows 2008r2 64bit in a seperate environment. After that I installed the 32bit version of the jdk we used in the test and production environment. In the seperate environment I can startup Oracle Wallet Manager. Here I created a certificate request and then import the reply certificates from the CA. Then the wallet says "Certificate ready". In the directory where the wallet is, I put the certificate request, and the reply certificates. After that I copy the wallet-directory to the test environment(with a 64bit jdk) and in the ssl.conf file I point to the copied wallet-directory. After a restart of the app-server I got SSL.

  • How to Setup SSL on Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1..2)

    Hi All,
Can anybody tell me How to setup the SSL on Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2).
I have all the required documents like
    1. Oracle Application Server Portal Server Configuration Guide.
    2. Oracle Application Server Web Cache Configuration Guide.
    3. Oracle Application Server SSO Administration Guide.
I tried to follow all this documents but still i am not able to set SSL for Oracle Portal Server.

The Portal Configuration Guide, available on OTN at http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/appserver1012.html does provide some very specific information on how to set up OracleAS Portal.
Section 6.3.2.1 Configuring SSL for OracleAS Portal describes various configurations, such as:
    SSL to OracleAS Single Sign-On
    SSL to OracleAS Web Cache
    SSL Throughout OracleAS Portal
External SSL with Non-SSL Within Oracle Application Server
For larger enterprise configurations, you can refer to the Enterprise Deployment Guide.
Can you give a bit more background on what you are trying to set up? Which scenario, what sort of hardware, software versions, and so on.
    Regards,
    Pete

  • What should be done in certmap.conf for 2-way SSL support from a standalone Java application to an SSL enabled LDAP Server

To support certficate based client authentication using 2-way SSL from a standalone java application which uses JNDI and JSSE1.0.2 to connect to an SSL enabled LDAP Server how do we configure the certmap.conf? Is there any additional setup required at the LDAP Server side apart from enablinf SSL with the option"Required Client Authentication" enabled. The 2 way SSL handshake goes through but the access log file (After configuring the certmap.conf for the issuer DN of the client certficate etc..)shows SSL failed to LDAP DN?But inspite of this access log error the Java client does get an SSL Connection object with which it is able to connect to the LDAP.IS the certmap.conf file being looked up by the LDAP Server at all?

  • Run Form in HTTPS or SSL mode without installing Application Server

    Hi all,
I have installed Oracle Database 10g and Oracle Developer suite 10g in my PC (Window XP). Now I want to implement SSL or running forms in HTTPS mode instead HTTP and I don't want to install Application server.
Any workaround is there to run Forms in HTTPS mode without installing Application server.
    Thanks,
    Omer

Performance issue? How old is your hardware? I am running OAS 10.1.2.3 on a Server 2003 VM which basically consumes 512MB RAM and ludicrous amounts of CPU/IO.
In any case: as said if you want to test SSL in a real life scenario then enabling SSL in OC4J is not what you want to do. In production the configuration is completely different, as there you would configure Apache to run your forms via SSL.
What comes to my mind would be to install Apache 1.3 (this would be the version OAS 10.1.2 uses), configure mod_oc4j there and configure it with SSL. On the other hand this also isn't the configuration you have in production so this also is not exacly what you want.
If you want to verify if your forms application will run via SSL then most certainly it will run without changing your sources. The only things you might have to change would be if you do HTTP Requests from the database to your application server via utl_http or from the client to the application server via java beans or via the java importer.
But for tests I'd strongly recommend doing it via an application server installation, and not via developer suite.
    cheers

  • Application Server 10g installation with SSL

    Hello,
I'm planning to install the new 10g application server on a Red Hat Linux. I need the infrastructure and the middle tier components to work on SSL. Anybody has installed and configured the 10g with SSL? Is it as difficult and time consuming as in the 9iASR2? Is there any guide to do that?
    thanks.

Pls refer to "Oracle Application Server 10g Administrator's Guide", Chapter 1.6 for more information on how to configure in SSL mode. By default SSL us not configured in 10g.

  • Sun One Application Server 7 SSL Reverse Proxy Setup?

    Hi,
I've made a similiar post on the Web Server forum,
    http://forum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=95666&tstart=0
I've noticed there's a reverse proxy plug in setup for Web Server,

I've so far successfully installed the reverse proxy plugin for

appserver that requires to be viewed/accessed in https mode
and I'm guessing the Web Server to Application Server communication
    should be in https?
Anywhere I can find references on how this can be done?

I want to deploy a application EAR on newly created domain. For this :
    1. Got the 8.2 Java application server installed on solaris box.
    2. Created domain using the asadmin command -> create-domain --adminport 4848 --adminuser admin <DOMAIN_NAME>
On starting the domain with this command - sh asadmin start-domain --user admin <DOMAIN_NAME. I am facing the below issue. Please note this is a fresh installation of the app server and a new domain
To troubleshoot this, I have already followed below steps , without any resolution:
    1. Checked port with - netstat -an|grep 45184 and also checked the processes using ps -fu <unix_user>. Even after killing the process, same error.
    2. Gave full permissions on /AppServer8.2/imq/var/instances
    3. Logged in as root user and then tried to start domain
    4. Updated domain.xml with some other port , checked this port if it is free , then replaced in domain.xml

    Hi,
Try to manually download the file from application server using standard transactions, and than check how many records are you able to download from app. server.
I guess there might be something wrong with the format of 583rd record, which makes sap assume that the file has come to an end.
    Hope this will help you.

  • 10.2 Application Server SSO setup issue.

    Hello,
I just installed a 10.2 Application Server Infrastructure installation, and I'm trying to set up SSO w/ PKI.
I followed the following in attempted to set this up:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_11/idmanage.1012/b14080/appendixe.htm#sthref2671
I succeeded in setting up the SSO partner login page on 4443, however when I attempt to log in, I get a 500 error from the HTTP server.
Looking through the logs, I see the following error from the ssoserver.log:
Mon Oct 26 13:30:27 EST 2009 [ERROR] AJPRequestHandler-ApplicationServerThread-5 Auth object, null could not be created: null
Mon Oct 26 13:30:27 EST 2009 [ERROR] AJPRequestHandler-ApplicationServerThread-5 Unexpected Exception received

I suspect something isn't registered correctly, or I need to enable SSL someplace that wasn't mentioned in that document.
Does anyone have any pointers/docs they could point me at that could help?
    -Dennis

Thanks a lot, I followed those instructions and it worked.
