SSL on Oracle HTTP causes errors in IE 6/7/8
Hello,
We installed new SSL certificate on Oracle HTTP server (Centos, Linux, Oracle 10g) and getting an error in IE 6,7,8: res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm#https://...
Examining http headers provide following error description: ERROR_INTERNET_SECURITY_CHANNEL_ERROR.
Has anybody encountered such error and how was it resolved?
Thank you!

Strange error when enabling SSL on Oracle HTTP Server
Hi,
In our production environment Oracle HTTP Server starts fine when SSL is disabled.
We've enabled SSL in our dev/uat environments using instructions from the Oracle Documentation. It was pretty straightforward.
When i tried to do the same in our production environment, the Oracle HTTP Server wouldnt restart. I've had a look around the forums and havent seen anyone report the same error we are seeing in the logfile.

No Apache logs are being written to when we try starting the Oracle HTTP Server with ssl enabled.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? Any idea how we can get this working?
Thanks,
StephenNoticed that when it starts with apachectl startssl, it doesnt like any <VirtualHost directive
The line in the dms.conf file that it errors out at is :
<VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:7201>
When i added a redirect the httpd.conf file, it errors out at the <VirtualHost line also
Any idea why the Oracle HTTP Server wouldnt like <VirtualHost directives when running startssl? -
Hi all,
Inorder to test SSL, i created a certificate request in OWM.Then i got a trial certificate from verisign for this request. What should i do now ? I tried to import that certificate in Oracle Wallet manager but getting this error.
"Trusted Certificate Installation Failed.
Input was not a valid certificate".
Please guide me

PURPOSE
To list the steps needed to configure Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) to use the Secure
Sockets Layer (SSL) when installed with Oracle9i Application Server (9iAS)
Release 2 (9.0.2). The below instructions show, step by step, instructions for
obtaining a trial certificate from a Certificate Authority, such as Verisign or
Thawte. Please refer to the Oracle 9iAS Documentation for further details.
SCOPE AND APPLICATION
Oracle9i Application Server (9iAS) Release 2 (9.0.2 and above)
Configuring SSL with Oracle HTTP Server in 9iAS Release 2
There are two major steps needed to configure SSL in 9iAS:
I. Create an Oracle Wallet which contains an SSL Certificate
II. Configure httpd.conf directives to enable SSL with OHS
NOTE:
Only standard server certificates are supported. These are sometimes referred
to as "40-bit Certificates", but will allow 128-bit encryption provided the
browser supports 128-bit encryption. 9iAS Release 2 does not support Global
Server Certificates, called "128-bit Certificates", that allow 56-bit export
browsers to step up to 128-bit.
STEP I: Configuring Oracle Wallet Manager (OWM)
1. Start Oracle Wallet Manager from the 9iAS $ORACLE_HOME.
Note: If you wish to use AutoLogin features you must start OWM as the user
who owns the httpd parent process.
To start Oracle Wallet Manager:
On Windows: select Start > Programs > Oracle - ORACLE_HOME >
Integrated Management Tools > Wallet Manager
On UNIX: enter owm at the command line.
2. Create an Oracle Wallet which contains an SSL Certificate:
- Select Wallet -> New
- Enter a password for the wallet e.g Welcome1
- Create a Certificate Request.
- Enter the details for the request. For example:
Common Name: <hostname.domainname>
Organizational Unit: Support
Organization: Oracle
Location: Reading
State: Berkshire
Country: United Kingdom
Key Size: 1024bits
* Common Name has to match the hostname.domainname that the webserver is
known as. This is the Servername parameter in the httpd.conf file, and
is the hostname.domainname that users will enter in the browser URL.
- Click OK.
- Click 'Certificate:[Requested]' and select from the Menu 'Operations' and
'Export Certificate Request'
- Save to a file e.g server.csr
- Open the file in a text editor and copy the contents of the certificate
signing request, to be pasted in a Certificate Authority (Verisign) form.
An example is shown below:
-----BEGIN NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----
MIIBtzCCASACAQAwdzELMAkGA1UEBhMCR0IxEjAQBgNVBAgTCWJlcmtzaGlyZTEQMA4GA1UEBxMH

LiwpRB6do7MBrVgMRiv3AyTkJkgRzSxABWAgNpBPbhH+L6PZj5tSjOPErKA=
-----END NEW CERTIFICATE REQUEST-----
3. Request a Certificate from a Certificate Authority:
- Load a web browser and go a Certificate Authority website of your choice.
The examples below are from www.thawte.com:
- Click on 'request your free trial'.
- Fill in the necessary name and address details etc. and 'Submit'.
- Paste in the certificate request into the box under the
'Certificate Signing Request' Section.
- Select "Test X509v3 SSL Cert" and hit "Generate Test Certificate"
- Once submitted the Trial Certificate will appear on screen similar to below:

- Copy the certificate to a file called server.crt
- Get the Trusted CA Root certificate by accessing:
https://www.thawte.com/roots/index.html
- Copy the certificate that appears on the screen to a file called
servertest.crt
- Ftp or move the files to a directory on your server
- In Wallet Manager select Operations -> Import User Certificate.
- It will then ask you if you want to Paste the certificate or load
from a file. Choose 'Select a file that contains a certificate'.
- Select the file server.crt and hit OK.
- At this point, the Wallet Manager may complain that the Trusted CA Root
Certificate does not exist in the wallet. It will ask if you want to
import it now. Select Yes. See Below
- Select 'Select a file that contains a certificate' and select the
servertest.crt file.
- If this completes successfully you should see Certificate:[Ready] and the
Thawte Test CA Root will appear in the list of trusted certificates.
- If you desire Oracle HTTP Server to AutoLogin to the Wallet, then select
AutoLogin. (Wallet Manager must have been started as the owner of the
httpd parent process for this to work).
- From the menu, File -> Save
Save the Wallet in a directory where the 9iAS user has permission to access
* If you generated your test certificate via www.verisign.com there is an additional
step required if OWM is not accepting the Trusted CA Root Certificate. The step is
as follows:
In OWM, at the point of message "User certificate import has failed because the
CA certificate does not exist". You are expected to import the CA certificate.
For Verisign, that would be the 'Test CA Root' for the Trial version. Verisign's
email has instructions on how to download the Test CA Root. One problem with the
Test CA Root is that it is saved as DER encoding, but OWM expects BASE64 encoding.
Please do following, using Internet Explorer 5.X as example.
1. Following Verisign instructions and install Test CA Root
certification into IE.
2. Export 'Test CA Root' from IE in BASE64 format
Tools -> Internet Options -> Contents -> Certificates
-> Trusted Root Certificate Authorities
Select CA issued by Versign with following Description in 'Issued to' column
"For Versign authorized testing only ....."
Export -> Next -> select Base-64 encoded X.509(.cer)
The file saved must me accessible to OWM
3. When prompted to load 'CA certificate ', provide the Base64 encoded file.
Then, continue where you left off when OWM did not accept your Trusted CA
Root Certificate.
STEP II: Configuring Oracle HTTP Server (OHS)
Please review the default directives in the httpd.conf file that relate to SSL by
opening the file in a text editor and search on "SSL". If you have not already
done so, please make a back up of this file. Do NOT hand edit this file without reading
the precautions in the 9iAS Documentation. You should use the Enterprise Manager (EM)
Website to modify this file. For SSL to work, the SSL 'listen' port must match the
"VirtualHost _default_" directive within the file. All other SSL parameters are
set to the default, and you can modify at a later time, depending on your needs.
## SSL Support
Listen 80
Listen 443
#443 is the SSL port number.
##Further down in file:
<VirtualHost default:443>
For the purposes of a basic SSL configuration, you should only need to
change the following directives:
SSLWallet
SSLWalletPassword
- Change the SSLWallet directive to the path where you saved your wallet, i.e:
SSLWallet file:/tmp/wallets
- If you get an error, ADMN-906025 with exception 806212, when starting OHS
after modifying httpd.conf, it is because you need to supply this password.
You may also see errors such as the following:
Error Failed to restart HTTP Server.
Timeout has been reached. Timeout has been reached.
If you did not select AutoLogin, then you need to change the SSLWalletPassword
to your clear text Wallet password by adding the following into your httpd.conf
SSLWalletPassword <yourPassword>
- If you wish to encrypt the SSLWalletPassword refer to the following:
[NOTE:184677.1]
How to Use IASOBF to Encrpyt a Wallet Password Within 9iAS Release 2
- Save the configuration, and restart Oracle HTTP Server
- Test a URL to Oracle HTTP Server in SSL mode:
https://<hostname.domainname>:<port> -
Dear Guru's,
I am not able to solve the above issue for last couple of days.
I am newbie to the webservice
My Issue...
I am using Jdeveloper 11.1.2.4.0 Release 2
1. Using Jdev I built one small Web Service with two methods.
While testing the Webservice...
I passed User Id as Parameter and it successfully return the values (user id, user name and description) from fnd_user table
2. I created another application to consume the web service i created.
1. I added the webservice SOAP and added the method.
2. Created a jsf page and drag and drop the parameter and return values to the jsf page.
3. While executing the created jsf page I received the error message as below
"oracle.jbo.NoDefException: JBO-29114 ADFContext is not setup to process messages for this exception. Use the exception stack trace and error code to investigate the root cause of this exception. Root cause error code is JBO-25058. Error message parameters are {0=Attribute, 1=UserName, 2=UserName}"
Even I know that this issue is repeated one in our forum, I was not able to solve this issue.
Can anybody help to solve this issue.

Error starting up ApEx's Oracle HTTP server
Hello.
I have just configured a brand new Oracle HTTP server on a brand new ApEx database. When I try to start the server, it doesn't start and I see errors in the log files.

</Location>
orp244a is a 10.2.0.4 database into which ApEx has been installed per the install guide with no errors. The Oracle HTTP server is 10.2.0.1. Both run on Zemple. I have substituted the domain name and the password for APEX_PUBLIC_USER account with <my domain here> and <my password here>, respectively, for security reasons.
When I check http://zemple.<my domain here>:7777, I get the standard Oracle HTTP Server page. But when I check http://zemple.<my domain here>:7777/pls/apex I get the "Page cannot be found" error.

Oracle ADF Secured App Gives HTTP 401 Error
I am new to Oracle ADF Framework. I develop on JDeveloper 11g R2 with Weblogic 10.3.5.0. I developed an project like described in a Firebox training video on Youtube link: [http://bit.ly/HT1HZ9] . You can download my project from http://db.tt/Y8J3fj3y
The video was about creating a custome login page. You have to create login, error anad the target pages. When you try to open target page login page comes then you enter your credentials. After success yoou should be directed to the target page. I used a backing bean to process credentials but instead of redirected to target page the response page gives:
Error 401--Unauthorized From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1: 10.4.2 401 Unauthorized
And the weblogic console this error:

SSL Certificate problem in the Oracle http server
Hi,
I have setup the oracle http server (OHS 11g) in linux machine and we created a virtual directory to access a web application.
In NON SSL connection it is working fine but when we try use the SSL connection we are not able to access the web application the port (4443) is not up.
Require help in this issue ?

Do oracle HTTP servers support https/SSL failover??
Dear all,
my company plans to use a load balancer (F5) to distribute the workload to multiple
oracle http servers and oc4j servers (in different machines).
we prefer to put the ssl encrypt/decrypt to the http server (ssl pass throuhgh, not put
on the load balancer due to some reasons).
so i want to know if using https / ssl, will the ssl state replicate to multiple oracle http
servers so that when one http server / machine down, the existing ssl traffic can
transparently rout to other servers?
if yes, how can i achieve that ??
thanks.
lspI now have the standalone version of the Oracle HTTP server 10g.
I also have a signed certificate that I have been using on the old 9i Oracle HTTP server (with the parameters mentioned above).
It seems on the 10g version I have to use a wallet file.
I go into Oracle Wallet manager but I can't import a certificate request, I can only create a new one. Then when I import the signed user certificate I already
have, it tells me it doesn't match the certificate request file. I need to be able to create a wallet for my existing signed certificate.
cheers

Implementing SSL in Apex3.2.1 using Oracle HTTP Server 11.2g
Could anyone please point me at any up-to-date documentation that deals with implementing SSL on Apex3.2.1 and 11.2g Standard One Oracle HTTP Server or something close.
I'm using Windows 7 with Browser, HTTP Server and database all on the same machine for testing purposes.
I have done the following from what I have found so far:
In Oracle Wallet Manager I have created a Certificate Request, sent that to a CA and then imported the Trial SSL Certficate, Trial Secure Server Intermediate CA and Test CA Root Certificate from the CA.
I have updated Apex Admin Services/Manage Service/Instance Settings/Wallet with
file:directory-path and wallet password.
I rebooted the machine to restart all the services, in case I missed any.
However when I change the url from http to https and this is the only change I make then page not found appears. It maybe I need to change the port or some conf files but I'm not sure.
Thanks
dfrostThere is also DRM and Strategic Finance that use IIS, here is the oracle doc on it http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epm_install_start_here_11121/ch06s03s02.html

Error installing 11.1.2 on redhat 5 --Oracle HTTP server -- -failed
when i am installing 11.1.2 on RHEL 5 ,i see that Oracle HTTP server installtion failed.
I am not understanding what could be the reaosn .?
Else is there a way to avaoid the Oracle HTTP server and go for apche HTTP server.
Help neededInstalling Oracle HTTP Server manually may be an option here.
It seems straight-forward enough. You can run the Oracle HTTP Server installer in GUI mode, outside EPM System Installer, using setup.exe (Windows) or runInstaller from EPM_ORACLE_HOME/common/ohs2_tmp_stage/Disk1. Specify MIDDLEWARE_HOME/ohs as the target installation folder, and accept the defaults for all other settings.
Good Luck...!!!! -
HTTP response error :Connection reset
Hi all,
I am getting following error in log while sending message to the trading partner and the main problem is that once this error comes then after that I am not able to send any more message to any of my Trading Partners. Even if I try to send message to any other Trading Partner, nothing comes in the B2B log and report as well. After restarting the B2B I am able to send message again to other Trading Partners.
Can anyone please tell the reason for getting this error? I also want to know that after getting this error once, why am I not able to send message to any Trading Partner?

Please help.
Thanks & Regards,
Anuj DwivediHi Sinkar,
Thanks for the reply. I confirmed it with my Trading Partner and their server is not running but still I want to know that why am I not able to send message to any other Trading Partner after getting this error once. And if I restart the server, it again acts normally and I am able to send message to other Trading Partners.
SSL is configured properly because I was able to communicate with this Trading Partner earlier when their server was up.
We are working on 10.1.2.3.0 with 7457066 MLR 5 patch. Please guide if any other patch required.
Thanks for the help.
Warm Regards,
Anuj Dwivedi -

I am a bit confused with the Note ID: 123718.1. Could you please clarify me on the below things?
1. SSL can be implemented at three levels,
(a) Oracle Web/Apache Server Level
(b) Oracle Form Server Level
(c) Oracle Database Level
Can Implement SSL on any one or any two component levels? As per Note:123718.1, we MUST configure SSL for both the Oracle HTTP Server and Oracle Forms Level and these cannot be configured independently.
2. As per the Note ID: 123718.1, Option 2.1. Certificate Provisioning for Oracle HTTP Server
Point b in point 2 says to execute "$OPENSSL_TOP/bin/openssl sha1 or* > $HOME/.rnd"
But which will be the OPENSSL_TOP?
Please advise on these above two queries.
Thanks in advance
Regards,
SravanThanks Hussien,
I have completed SSL configuration at all level including database. Forms are not getting launched. I am getting below error in the Java Console.

Installation Problem about ORACLE HTTP SERVER 10g
I tried to install oracle http server on windows xp sp2. Everthing was all right until
it made some recommend tasks while installing. It could'nt start the http server at there. I completed the installation. After then when i connect to the internet and try to start http server it starts. But when i do not connect to the internet it gives an error like apache.exe couldn't start on executing ApacheModuleonsinst.dll. I want to learn what causes to this problem.pparkko wrote:
With this type of behaviour, you always need to find out the real error.
Try opening a command prompt (cmd) and running the command from the command line.
Then you can see what is going wrong.I have a question, I just upgraded our test 11i database (9i) to 10g (10.2), as a part of that upgraded forms, reports, graphics to patchset 18. Now planning to install 10giAS on appsTier on which forms, Apache and discoverer running. If I install 10giAS in differnet home, how can I get that in to appsTier?, does it mean adapcctl script no longer be used to start webservices?. I haven’t done this before, if my question is stupid, please ignore :). -
HTTP 302 Error When Scheduling OEM Report
I'm trying to schedule a custom report to run out of OEM 11.1 and am receiving the below error. The report displays properly from the OEM console, but seems to get an HTTP 302 error when trying to schedule the report to run, have changed the schedule options from daily, weekly, one-time immediately, one-time later and all generate the same error. Not sure what is causing the HTTP 302 redirect during the report execution, any help is appreciated.
This is a scheduled report.
The most recently generated report completed with the following error.
Error: Unexpected error getting the HTTP response stream while generating report: oracle.sysman.eml.ip.publishJob.HttpConnectionException:Response code:302
Error Message :302 Moved Temporarily

Thanks,
ShawnIssue was related to the Console URL setting in the Grid Control Overview tab, it was set to http://<host>:<port>/em/console and should have been set to http://<host>:<port> instead.

Hi,
I have some (but not much) experience with OAS and am currently stuck. So hope to find someone who can help me further here.
When i open Oracle Application Server Control from the SOA Suite 10.1.3.5.0 home page i get most of the times an HTTP 500 error.
Initially i got this even when i opened the login page (/em) but worked around this by increasing the ThreadsPerChild from 100 > 250 in the httpd.conf and replacing the loopback adres 127.0.0.1 in the dms.conf for the virtual host configuration to the actual (fixed) ip-address.
The current situation is that when i restart the environment (opmn stopall & opmn startall) i can open the the EM login page.
After logging in om the Enterprise Manager, the page is partly loaded and a HTTP 500 error is shown when i refresh the page.
The apache log files now still shows the following errors;
[Tue Sep 07 15:46:19 2010] [error] [client 10.157.1.68] [ecid: 1283867060:10.150.50.110:10312:9568:5,0] mod_oc4j: Failed to find a failover oc4j process for session request for destination: application://ascontrol (no island or jgroup).
[Tue Sep 07 15:51:20 2010] [error] [client 10.157.1.68] [ecid: 1283867060:10.150.50.110:10312:9568:5,0] mod_oc4j: request to OC4J SOA-WTST:12501 failed: Connect failed
Any hints ?
Kind regards,
PeterIf finally found the cause of the problem, lack of PermGen space for the home instance;
When opening the EM Console most of the times i was able to open the login page, under stress opening this page failed most of the times.
The ascontrol-application.log pointed me in the right direction;
10/09/07 15:26:59.111 ascontrol: Servlet error
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space
When monitoring the PermGen of the home instance, is showed that the system was running out of PermGen space.
Increasing the PermGen size for the home instance in opmn.xml did the trick
<data id="java-options" value="-Xrs -server -XX:MaxPermSize=128M......"
