Do oracle HTTP servers support https/SSL failover??

Dear all,
my company plans to use a load balancer (F5) to distribute the workload to multiple
oracle http servers and oc4j servers (in different machines).
we prefer to put the ssl encrypt/decrypt to the http server (ssl pass throuhgh, not put
on the load balancer due to some reasons).
so i want to know if using https / ssl, will the ssl state replicate to multiple oracle http
servers so that when one http server / machine down, the existing ssl traffic can
transparently rout to other servers?
if yes, how can i achieve that ??
thanks.
lsp

I now have the standalone version of the Oracle HTTP server 10g.
I also have a signed certificate that I have been using on the old 9i Oracle HTTP server (with the parameters mentioned above).
It seems on the 10g version I have to use a wallet file.
I go into Oracle Wallet manager but I can't import a certificate request, I can only create a new one. Then when I import the signed user certificate I already
have, it tells me it doesn't match the certificate request file. I need to be able to create a wallet for my existing signed certificate.
cheers
Robert

  • Does GSS HTTP-HEAD supports https?

I am configuring a GSS to check an Web server that responds to https requests.
I put 443 as the port but I don´t see replies from the server and the Answer Status is always offline.
Other servers using http on port 80 are showing OK.
    The appliance is a GSS-4492-k9 Version 3.1(0).

    Hi,
https keepalive was introduced recently and is available as of version 3.2(0).

  • HTTP pipelining support in WL Server

    Greetings,
I've just noticed that the "HTTP pipelining" support in Mozilla-based browsers
appears to break WL 5.1.0 web apps when enabled. The symptoms are pages that
take forever to load, with images misplaced throughout the content (i.e., icons
will ne exchanged in what appears to be a random manner).
I posted a bug with the Mozilla team, and it looks like connections are being
recreated and torn-down repeatedly, as if each request is being cancelled.
Since the HTTP/1.1 spec requires that servers support HTTP pipelined requests
from clients, Mozilla/Netscape has no choice but to add the WL server string to
    the "pipeline blacklist".
The workaround is easy: disable HTTP pipelining. I'm just wondering if WL 6.x
or up meets the HTTP/1.1 spec in a more standard manner (at least in this regard).
Is this a problem for other apps out there? On other versions of WL?
Full pipelining support would be nice, as it significantly speeds up requests,
with a lot more information squeezed into every HTTP request. We are finding
that our web-based apps are becoming ever more popular; which means an ever-growing
number of customers requesting we make them more responsive.
HTTP pipelining is not a magic bullet, or an excuse to make poor web-based apps,
but it really helps at the connection layer to make each request more efficient.

I would open a support case to get clarification on whether DIGEST is supported. According to the WLS 8.1 book I found on google, it looks like it may have been supported in 8.1:
    http://books.google.com/books?id=TiAKHpPHpHIC&pg=PA836&lpg=PA836&dq=WebLogic+Digest+Authentication&source=web&ots=ciJMQOXm2q&sig=oJGOs-J5snfFGt_hWSPi-FXyERQ&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=10&ct=result
If that is the case, it is unlikely that they removed it, it just may not be documented well as it is very uncommon.

  • Newbie: does Oracle BPEL Process Manager support http-get/post binding?

    Hi all,
i'm a newbie in using bpel4ws. Two things i must know before using the Oracle BPEL Process Manager:
    1. Does the manager support the sub-specification bpel4ws?
    2. I want to orchestrate some services which aren't binded using http-SOAP or rpc. They are binded using http-GET and http-POST. Does the manager support these bindings too?

    Hi Clemens,
    thanks for answering.
Ähhm... as i told you, i'm newbie here. I searched for the content of
    samples/tutorials/702.bindings/http
But i'm afraid i don't know where to start. Its no URL and i didn't find the source of this path. Can you add the full URL or tell me how to get to the source of these samples?
    thanks

  • Creating multiple http servers on one machine

I created multiple http servers on one machine.
I did this in the following way:
Created a http service as nt service with the following command:
    apache -i -n Testservice -f d:\oracle\isuites\apache\apache\conf\httpd2.conf.
When I start the service, I always get an error:
Didn't return an error. Cannot start service.
    Can someone help me.
I need two httpd services as nt service. Because, I want to use oracle fail safe. So I need a service.
Alternative : I can create batch files. But I want to start these batch files as nt service. Is there a possibility on
Windows nt to do this, or an available tool.
    Thanks in advance,
    Iloon

If you want to have multiplie servers in the same machine and you want to cluster them then you need ip for each instance.
If you want multiple instances without clustering, then you can have them run on the same ip but each one should have a different port.

If you are accessing the ejb/services on the same server using a servlet. You can get the context, simply using the default getInitialContext(). This should return the context to the local machine. This shoudnt require any ip information.

  • Multiple HTTP Servers with Portal

I am trying to set up 9iAS (Portal) on a server that already has several HTTP servers on it. The System Administrator wants a "web services" on a single NT box. I installed 9iAS and that seemed to complete OK but now I'm getting some errors trying to use Portal...I can't get logged in to Portal30/Portal30.
Is it possible to run several Apache servers including Portal on a single NT box?
We are moving up to Portal 3.0 from WebDB 2.2 which is on a NT box by itself.

it is possible, just install 9ias in multiple oracle_homes, if u need 2 instances of HTTP server, install in 2 Oracle homes and each could point to same Login Server. Metalink has a good note on this.

  • Load Balance HTTPS servers with redirection

    Hello,
I have been tasked with ACE configuration at work as the prior go-to guy for load balancing is no longer available. Trouble is, I have little idea what I’m doing when it comes to the ACE. So, forgive me if the question I have is super basic. After doing some research I put together a LB config, but its not working.
I was trying to load balance 10 servers, split into groups of 2 using 5 VIPS (1 VIP for each group of 2 servers). The servers serve an ssl web app.
Below is my configuration. What am I doing wrong? Does the config have any glaring errors? I've been staring at this thing on and off for a week  and searching these forums trying to figure it out.
Any help provided will greatly appreciated.

    Fnu,
Thank you so much for your reply.
At this point I can get to the real server IP's via ping and https in a browser from my PC. I can also ping the gateway and all the real server IP's from the ACE context i'm working on. However, the VIPS are not working. When I attempt to use one of the VIPS in the browser, the request times out. When I issue the command ":show service-policy"  I see a hit count (which increments every time I try and reach the VIP via the browser) but the dropped counter is equal to the hit counter. I will paste the running config from the context I’m working in along with the output from the show service-policy command.
Any suggestions on how I can get this working would be greatly appreciated.

  • Https transport support for JAX-WS WebServices

    Hi All ,
I am trying to implement JAX-WS WebServices that support https transport .To do so I added the following annotation *@Policy(uri = "policy:Wssp1.2-2007-Https-BasicAuth.xml)* in my Jws Implementation file for the JAX-WS WebServices but I got parsing error. Can anyone please confirm that JAX-WS supports the policy annotation in Impl file.If it is supported can a link/pointer/example could be given to implement https enabled JAX-WS WebService and the required configuration in wsdl file.
    Thanks and Regards

It does but you've specified a policy that uses both HTTPS and basic HTTP authentication. If you require just HTTPS use "Wssp1.2-Https.xml". In turn you must enable the SSL port on the WLS server. See this blog post: http://one-size-doesnt-fit-all.blogspot.com/2009/02/enabling-ssl-and-disabling-non-ssl_17.html
If you use JDev to generate the JAX-WS web services, given the policy annotation JDev willl put the policy in the WSDL file appropriately.

  • HTTPS balance without a SSL Module

I have read thru the forum and found a couple threads talking about this issue but didnt find a solution to my problem.
I have 2 CSS11503s without SSL modules. I now have a need to balance a KVMoIP system that uses ssl on the servers(currently only 5 concurrent users). My balance is simply for ease of use for my customers so they dont have to know the url for the primary and secondary servers. Here is what I have right now:
    interface 1/1
    bridge vlan 241
    description "to users"
    interface 1/2
    description "to servers"
    bridge vlan 700
    circuit VLAN700
    ip address 172.20.241.181 255.255.255.192
    ip virtual-router 100 priority 1
    ip redundant-interface 100 172.20.241.183
    ip critical-service 100 css-up-down
    ip critical-reporter 100 css-sc1
    circuit VLAN241
    ip address 172.20.241.71 255.255.255.192
    ip virtual-router 1 priority 1
    ip redundant-interface 1 172.20.241.73
    ip redundant-vip 1 172.20.241.100
    ip critical-service 1 css-up-down
    ip critical-reporter 1 css-sc1
    service obsidian
    ip address 172.20.241.172
    keepalive port 80
    keepalive type tcp
    active
    owner avocent
    content kvm (Does not work)
    vip address 172.20.241.100
    protocol tcp
    port 443
    add service obsidian
    content kvm_80 (This works)
    protocol tcp
    port 80
    add service obsidian
    vip address 172.20.241.100
    active
The http to the server works fine but the https get "The page can not be displayed" when you go to https://172.20.241.100
Thanks for any insight into this issue.

    Hi Gill,
    thats what i?ve found:
    config-owner-content) application
To specify the application type associated with the content rule, use the application command. The application type enables the CSS to correctly interpret the data stream matching the content rule and parse them. Otherwise, the data stream packets are rejected. Use the no form of this command to reset the application type to its default setting of HTTP.
    application type
    no application
    Syntax Description
    type
Application type. Enter one of the following:
?bypass - Bypasses the matching of the content rule and send the request directly to the origin server
?http (default) - Processes HTTP data streams
?ftp-control - Processes FTP data streams
?sip - Processes Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) data streams
?ssl - Processes Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol data streams

  • ESB: WSIF HTTP Binding support

    Hi,
Is there a way to perform HTTP POST/GET a non-SOAP XML message from ESB? I know BPEL supports this via WSIF HTTP binding. Looking for a way to do the same in ESB.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Rajesh

I tested the WSIF HTTP provider from ESB using following binding and port definitions. My test case involves simple ESB RS forwarding the request to SOAP service configured using WSIF HTTP binding.
    <message name="orderRequest_request">
    <part name="orderRequest" element="inp1:orderRequest"/>
    </message>
    <portType name="execute_ppt">

Even after sending the user& password we are unable to access the catalog.
Does anyone encountered this problem? Does anyone have a solution for this?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Does FDF support https protocols?

Does FDF support https protocols?  If so, what type of encryption?  Are there any other options to support form data to an https server?  Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your quick answer!  I'm trying to learn some things to tell some tech people they're wrong and overcomplicating would could be an easy answer.  I want people to be able to pull up a form on the internet anywhere in the world, but submit it to a secure server, i.e. https.
I take it from your answer that I can't use FDF to submit it to an https server?  Or, when you say "HTML" does that include https?
When you say the entire PDF using HTTPS (SSL), do you mean via a webmail or web email that uses https?  My intent is to have my person in another city just click an easy button to submit the form without having to save a copy to their computer and manually upload it to a new https webpage.  That's why I liked this FDF option.
