[SSM 7.5 BI CONNECTOR] Updating hierarchy from BW query

Hello
I'm working on SSM 7.5 SP2 with the BI Connector.
I've made a model with the BI Connector which read a simple query with one dimension. This dimension has a hierarchy which we will call H1.
Bi connector steps :
I import the schema...
I create my metrics...
I update my data...
SSM Admin steps :
I create a new KPI in my context with the measure from my query
I launch the Scorecard and i drilldown in the KPI screen and i see all my data in the hierarchy H1. Everything is Ok.
Now
I create a new hierarchy in BW, let's call it H2 on my infoobject which correspond to the dimension.
I edit my query in Query Designer to set the new hierarchy on the free characteristic. I do not change anything else.
I repeat BI Connector steps :
I import the schema...
I create my metrics...
I update my data...
I launch the Scorecard and i drilldown in the KPI screen and i see all my data in the hierarchy H1 not H2. So SSM is not up to date.
I tried many ways to solve this but i cant find a solution to update the scorecard.
So what can i do to make SSM Scorecard use H2 hierarchy instead of old H1 ?

Note : H2 has the same members as H1 but in a different order so there is data in both hierarchy.

did you stop the services and clear the cache?
In "Best Pratices - The BI Connector in SSM 7.0" it says:
"In early versions of the BICA Tool (pre 6 June 2008), if you did an Import Schema using BICA then changed the query definition in BI then tried to re-import schema using BICA (or even import schema to a brand new PAS Model) then the BICA may not have recognized the new query definition. This is because the old query definition is still in the Work Database of the PAS user that the BICA tool uses to connect to PAS. From BICA version 6 June 2008, u201CFORCEu201D has been added to all of the IMPORT commands so this should no longer be a problem. The other solution is to restart the extended listener (to close the work database of the PAS User) and then use the BICA to re-import the new query definition. Note that if you are working in PAS directly you would just issue an exit clear command and re-enter PAS u2013 the new query definition will then be available to you."
I don't know if this to SSM 7.5, but you can try.

Update Hierarchy from file flat

We have transferred the hierarchy of infoobjet 0IM_REPOBJ from OLPT, and a new hierarchy is created in SAP BW.
Now we want to add new characteristic (node) to this hierarchy, from upload file flat.
I have followed all steps of documentation from sdn but I can't do it.
After that, I think that from uploading file flat, only is possible created a new hierarchy or update a hierarchy created before for this way.
It's correct or exist any way for update by uploading file flat, of a hierarchy downloaded from OLPT?,

When I try to upload the new characteristic from file flat, the follow error appear:
RSAR 204: Error when you calculate the node level in ahierarchy.
There is two sap notes, but it not apply for our case.
When I create the infopackage of datasource from file, in tab "Hierarchy Selection" I can't select the herarchies available from OLPT, I have to create a new hierarchy. Although I create a new hierarchy with the same technical name of OLPT hierarchy, the system assign a new internal ID.
And I think that, when I execute the infopackage from file flat, try calculate the node level in the new hierarchy created and not of the hierarchy existing in a infoobject.
For this reason I guess that it isn't possible update by file flat of a hierarchy downloaded from OLPT.
Regarding your proposal of download the OLPT hierarchy, update it and upload to BW from file flat (deleting the existing hierarchy). I think that would be the more aproximate option, but we'll have to analyze the process, because the hierarchy will be updated both from OLPT as file flat.
Have I to assume that my guesses are right?.

BW: Cost Element Hierarchy - from R/3 plus additional node in BW

Hi all,
We have cost element hierarchy (say ZP14PL) which we schedule to update periodically from R/3 into BW . However we would like to add an additional sub-node under this same hierachy via RSH1. As this subnode is only for BW use, this is not maintained in the hierarchy ZP14PL in R/3. With the 'full update' or 'update Subtree' option in the infopackage the hierachy ZP14PL will be deleted and replaced with the latest changes thus removing the additional node which we created for BW only.
Any suggestion as to how we could have the latest hierarchy updated from R/3 without deleting the additional subnode that we added in the same hierachy in BW?
Appreciate all expert advice.

An easy way would be to include this link into the file using a start routine....
you should know the child node and parent nodes for the same and since the location of the same is going to be constant - you could add it to your start routine....
Or have a time dependent hierarchy but that would mess up your reporting...
Also this is not the correct forum to post BI relevant questions - suggest you post the same in the BI forums for more relevant answers....

How to Create Hierarchy From Flat file Structure

Hi Gurus,
There is a scenario for me regarding the Hierarchy.
Required Hierarchy structure - Region>Director>Manager-->Sales id
I have flat file which gives the info like user id , sales id , manager id, director id.
But the transaction data Flat file has structure with sales id, region id, sales amt, sales qty.
Note : Region id is another Master Data.
How i can create hierarchy from the first flat file which doesnot have region info in that but it is available in the transaction data Flat file.
Is there anyway we can create hierarchy based on the first Flat file structure which contains more that 1,00,000 records.
Try to Suggest me in this regard .

                Defining the source system from which to load data
Choose the source system tree File ® Create.
       2.      Defining the InfoSource for which you want to load data
Optional: choose InfoSource Tree ® Root (InfoSources) ® Create Application Components.
Choose InfoSource Tree ® Your Application Component ® Other Functions ® Create InfoSource 3.x ® Direct Update.
Choose an InfoObject from the proposal list, and specify a name and a description.
       3.      Assigning the source system to the InfoSource
Choose InfoSource Tree ® Your Application Component ® Your InfoSource ® Assign Source System. The transfer structure maintenance screen appears.
The system automatically generates DataSources for the three different data types to which you can load data.
○       Attributes
○       Texts
○       Hierarchies (if the InfoObject has access to hierarchies)
The system automatically generates the transfer structure, the transfer rules, and the communication structure (for attributes and texts).
       4.      Maintaining the transfer structure / transfer rules
Select the DataSource for uploading hierarchies.
IDoc transfer method: The system automatically generates a proposal for the DataSource and the transfer structure. This consists of an entry for the InfoObject for which hierarchies are loaded. With this transfer method, the structure is converted to the structure of the PSA during loading, which affects performance.
PSA transfer method: The transfer methods and the communication structure are also generated here.
       5.      Maintaining the hierarchy
Choose Hierarchy Maintenance, and specify a technical name and a description of the hierarchy

Product Hierarchy from R/3 to BW

Hi
I have a problem with product hierarchy in BW. First, i extract master data for material (0Material, infoobject), but attribute 0PROD_HIER was not update, all records has this value in blank. After that, i extracted hierarchy from R/3, with datasource 0MATERIAL_LPRH_HIER, and hierarchy was activated in BW without problems. Now my problem is how to insert the material en hiearchy, as i have it in R/3, i think that it should be when i extract the hierarchy, but it not happened. So how can i insert the whole material in their node as they are in R/3??

Measurement hierarchy from Essbase to BIEE physical layer

According to official documents, the measurement hierarchy from Essbase should be imported as one flat level on Physical layer in OBIEE Administration. However, after importing, I can't see those measurements shown ! What I can see is the "Measure" dimension which has 5 gen of hierarchy~
What I want is to put the measurements (e.g. unit sold / unit sold (east region) / unit sold (west region) / unit count / sales per week .... ) to presentation layer for users. How can I handle this? Is there anything I miss while building the cube in essbase?
Since my essbase has just been upgraded from v.6 to v.11.

Welcome to the wonderful world of OBIEE/Essbase integration!
Your "Measure" dimension basically should be your Account dimension of Type "Accounts". When a dimension has that type, it will automatically become the "fact" in the flattened out representation in the physcial layer.
Funny that you mention this since I anyways wanted to blog a bt more on this since I got quite some questions recently (for all who were there: result of that nice discussion in Brighton), since you may have multiple measure hierarchies and then there's a bit more config to do ;-)
Update:
I just saw your other post and I'm a bit confused now. You state you have the "Measure" table which I assume means you have it in the BMM layer already. As of 10.1.3.3.2. if you import Essbase metadata, you can just drag and drop it from physical to BMM to presentation layer and the models and presentation tables are created automatically. Not much manual intervention needed (initially, but you'll do a lot of modification afterwards).

Extract hierarchy from a flat file

Im trying to extract hierarchy from a flat file.
The hierarchy is built from 3 different infoObjects each infoObject represent different level in the hierarchy. I built the hierarchy in the last level of the hierarchy and put all the levels as external chars in the hierarchy.
(I used the blog: Hierarchy Upload from Flat files: /people/prakash.bagali/blog/2006/02/07/hierarchy-upload-from-flat-files )
When I extract the data into the PSA it looks fine but when I choose to update the PSA data into the infoObject the request stays yellow. Three is no dump and I cant find the job in SM50.

Hi David,
Thats the problem with using PSA for flatfile hierarchy loads. If you can change the transfer method to "IDOC" then change and retry the load. The IDoc method gives you an advantrage when dealing with flatfiles as you can debug and notice which record # has errors.

It seems like while updating few records may be no in the format of the field in which it is updated.

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

My question
On point 6:
Assumption:
- Company_id is PK of pcs.Company and FK in pcs.individuals
- It should be feed by sequence (v_pcs_comp_id_seq)
Now how can i insert the same value for company_id (current.v_pcs_comp_id_seq) in both pcs_companies and pcs_individuals ? I've tested it in the above INSTEAD OF Trigger.It failed.

Update data from ODS to ODS with infopackage selection

I am trying to update data from one ODS to another ODS with selection criteria in InfoPackage which is created manually.For Full load I can give selection criteria in InfoPackage. When I initialize data Selection is greyed out even selections for Full load exists. Please advise me how to give selections for delta loads from ODS to ODS loads.

Once you started an ODS as destination in FULL mode from a DS you cannot get back.
So if you want to update from ODS to ODS using Change Log but considering only some data records you could create an Update Routine with a Start Routine that DELETES undesired records (e.g. DELETE DATA_PACKAGE WHERE ...) and then start an Init-Delta Loading.

How to get updated values from the loops while they are running

Hello,
I am having difficulty solving a very basic problem, how to access the updated values from the 'FOR loop' while its running? Basically, the VI I am currently working on calls two sub VIs. Each sub VI has a for loop, and both VIs may or may not run for same number of iterations. My goal is to read the values at each terminal inside the loop of both sub VIs, in the Main VI. I tried to achieve it using Global Variables, but in main VI it displays only the last iteration value from both sub VIs. Could anyone please tell me whrere am I going wrong? Is there any other/better way to achieve this.
I appreciate any input on this issue.

In attached VI, I can see the values changing in the sub VI from the main VI with the numeric indicator whose reference is passed on to the sub VI. Now if I wanted to store or use those values how do I do that? I tried to chnge the indicator to control and read from it (in the attached VI) , but the the indicator updates only once. Tried to create a property node and read the Value from it and it didn't work either.
