SSMS not saving Query Options between sessions

When I run a SQL query I always want to
1. Include column headers when copying or saving the results
2. Display results in a separate tab
3. Switch to results tab after the query executes
So, I set these Query Options and click OK, but the next time I open SSMS it does not remember my previous choices...which makes me have to go in and set them FOR EVERY QUERY WINDOW?  Is there a way to get SSMS to save my choices??
Thanks in advance for your help!

I believe the issue is that he is using these options and setting them but once he restarts, those settings are getting lost. I mentioned the registry key where these options are saved because it might be a permission issue (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\SQL
Server Management Studio\XX_CONFIG)

  • My systems preferences are not saved from each previous session! Mark

Each time I start up my new iMac computer, the system preferences I set up in my previous session are lost! Can anybody help me figure out what I need to do to make my preferences persist?

Usually a loss of preferences after reboot or logout is attributed to user permission issues.
First reboot your system then try this:
    1. Open a Finder window.
    2. Choose "Go" from your top menu bar.
    3. Choose "Home"
    4. Choose "File from your menu bar.
    5. Choose "Get info"
    6. Open the "Sharing & Permissions section using the disclosure arrow.
    7. Unlock the padlock in the corner with your password.
    8. Click the little gear button.
    9. Choose "Apply to enclosed items"
    10. Once process is done set your preferences and attempt a restart of the system.

  • Bookmarks/History not being kept in between sessions

When I bookmark a new site, most of the time it doesn't appear in my bookmarks the next time I start Firefox. Also, the history of my browsing doesn't show any of the sites I had visited during the previous few hours. This doesn't happen every single time I close/open Firefox, though it does occur over 75% of the time, which can be extremely frustrating. I don't have any other issues with my PC and have scanned my entire system thoroughly with anti-virus/malware scanners which always yield clean results. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when the bookmarks will remain and when they don't. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. Thanks very much!

Ted, I’m not familiar enough with Safari to know if that behaviour is within its normal range of preferences, but to me it sounds as though something’s become corrupted within it. (I hope that someone else will chime in if that’s a normal possibility for Safari!) Have you tried downloading [the latest standalone Safari package for Snow Leopard|http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net/content.info.apple.com/Safari5/ 061-8521.20100728.BhBgt/Safari5.0.1SnowLeopard.dmg] and reïnstalling it, to see if that would stop the duplication from happening?
If it has been corrupted, then perhaps that also might be having an effect on your browsing speed?

    Hi Rafi,
did you get services instead of the queries? If so then you have to modify your system connection to a SAP_BW system.

  • I clicked a link in another program that opened a link in Firefox, but only that opened, not any of my 50 saved tabs from last session. What can I do?

So I clicked a link in a program that opened in Firefox. I had over 50 tabs from the course of a couple months I was saving, so "go back in your history" is not a practical option. I use the "Restore Tabs From Last Session" (or whatever the exact wording is) so I can just close and open and get all my tabs back. This time only this one link opened, nothing else did (like I remember it usually doing). How am I to restore that previous session? It's crucial for me to get all that stuff back, it drives me crazy when this happens (it's why I dropped Chrome and came here to Firefox, better memory management and less crashes).

    Restore your Previous Session
    *https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-previous-session
You can try to restore a previous version of the sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak file. You need to rename the .bak file to .js to make Firefox see that session.
    *right-click: Properties > Previous Versions
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_Restore

  • Saving settings between sessions

I've tried to break this post up into sections for your reading ease.
The question is relatively simple, but I have a feeling the solution won't be so pleasant.
    Question:
I have a Java Application that I wish to save various settings from between sessions, so that the next time I start it up, those settings are restored. What would be the best way to do this?
    Solution Ideas:
If I were programming for windows, the solution would be simple: the registry. But this is a cross-platform application. The obvious alternative would be to store the settings in a file. I can do that, but to have 2 files, one being probably just 2 bytes in size, is not terribly appealing, especially if the user wishes to store the program on the desktop. The third and most appealing option that I thought up would be to store these settings within the Jar file itself, but I have yet to figure out how.
If anyone has any better suggestions, I would be more than happy to hear them.
Storing In Jar - What I know and don't know
As for storing the settings in the JAR, I've been trying various methods to get to the JAR, but have yet to even figure out how to get the JAR's File Location. I know I'm on the right track with the JarFile, JarInputStream, and JarOutputStream classes, but they offer no way to get the current Jar. I've tryed getting the source's location path with this ugly thing:
    getClass().getProtectionDomain().getCodeSource().getLocation().getPath()
but that just returns the parent folder - not the Jar file
I've also seen getClass().getResourceAsStream(from) but that's only an InputStream, where there is no desired OutputStream counterpart.
    Much Thanks in advance,
    -IsmAvatar

    That's perfect. Thanks a bunch.
Does it matter that Preferences and most of the
methods are Abstract, or is that just there in case
some class wishes to overwrite those methods or
something? No it doesn't matter. It's like that because there are many different implementations. The default behaviour on windows is to store the data in the registry.

  • History not retrained between sessions, tho set to do so !?

Browsing several sites 3 x wk'ly to read commentary, but this history is not retained between sessions tho set to do so as far as I can see after perusing Firefox repeatedly over several wks....not browsing privately , etc....recent trovi malware infestation seems negligible,???, tho I still see it in IE. Any suggestions , Thanks....L F

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Browsing History
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/remove-browsing-search-and-download-history
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
There is software like Advanced SystemCare with its Surfing Protection feature that can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes.
If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.
Your System Details list shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: Open with) if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

  • Query View name not saved in "Analysis Grid Properties" under Data Provider

    Hi BW World;)
    We are on BI 7.0
I have created a BI workbook which contains a query view.
However when we go into design mode and then "analysis grid properties" for this query view then "change data provider" it does not show the query view name but the query name. (we have saved the workbook)
    Is this the normal scenario?
Surely should show the "query view name " and not the "query name" as confuses what data provider is being used?
    Is this a bug?
    Best
Stevo.... Points of course... Thanks in advance.;)

    Hi,
You have created a workbook on top of a Query View which is again depends on a Query. Now the base for Query View is a Query. So the underlying Data Provider for a workbook is a Query.
Hence when you go to Properties of grid->Change Data Provider,it shows the Query and the InfoCube, but not the Query View.
So this is not a bug and this how its been designed.
If you click for the Information of that workbook,it will show the Query and Info Provider, but not the query View.
Though it looks like wierd,it is not a bug.

  • The latest version of Firefox no longer asks if you want to save open tabes for your next session..I HATE not having that option. What were they thinking?

    Question
The latest version of Firefox no longer asks if you want to save open tabs for your next session..I HATE not having that option. What were they thinking? (I think this is self explanatory)

Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    <br />
    Another possibility is to use:
    * [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox (Tools) > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Query completed but session still not released.

    Hi Everybody,
We are trying to refresh a materialized view using a below mentioned command,
    exec dbms_snapshot.refresh('NESTER.MVREPAIR','?');
While querying v$session_longops we are getting the work complete output.
    1* select sofar,totalwork, time_remaining from v$session_longops where sid='245'
    SQL> /
    SOFAR TOTALWORK TIME_REMAINING
    32018 32018 0
However the session from where we are trying to referesh the materialized view is still not released.
It seems oracle is still doing something in the background.
Also after querying LAST_CALL_ET from v$session, the value keeps on changing.
    select LAST_CALL_ET from v$session where sid =245;
    LAST_CALL_ET
    1099
    SQL> /
    LAST_CALL_ET
    1102
    Please suggest..!!

    Am I missing something here?
LAST_CALL_ET is a number indicating the time since the last query from the session was fired. It would go on increasing till the session is connected and remains idle.
If you have not done anything from that session after the refresh, the LAST_CALL_ET is going to go on. Ever increasing.

  • Diff Between Saved Query Views and Work Books

    Hi..
Can some one explain me the diff betwen Saved Query views and Workbooks interms of their use, and operation..
    thanks..
    kishore

    hi kishore,
We use workbooks for excel formating, like font changes, lay out changes etc...
Workbooks into which queries are inserted are no different in appearance than other Excel workbooks.
They can be saved as files, copied, sent and (using Excel functions) edited however you like and even supplemented with other data.
Views are primarily used for BW Web Reports, it is similar to the concept of workbooks is for BEx.A local view can be accessed only within a workbook in which it was saved, where as a global view can be accessed globally in the system, it is not attached to a workbook. Only Global view can be used in BW Web Templates.

  • TOC does not retain bookmarking between sessions

    Hello,
One of my complete courses developed in Captivate for SumTotal LMS is not retaining bookmarking between sessions.
When you re-enter the course, some of the bookmarking is lost.
Does anyone know of a fix for this issue?
    Thank you ahead of time.
    Chuck

    Hello Lilybiri,
Yes, Self Paced Learning is selected in TOC settings.
The individual that was testing the functionality was viewing the content linear.
He left the course after viewing about 10 slides out of 85.
When he returned to the course, the first 10 slides did not have a checkmark.
It did return him to the spot that he left off, and started placing checkmarks from their.
No issues with the knowledge checks  or final quiz not working.
Only issue is that the checkmarks were no longer present for previously viewed section.
He stated that this is an issue.
I do not see it as such as long as performance is not compromised.

  • Firefox keeps remembering a website and won't allow me to log out and will not return to login page. been to cookies, saved passord options, nothing helps

firefox keeps remembering a website and won't allow me to log out and will not return to login page. been to cookies, saved password options, says no password is saved but it is. nothing helps

It might be that you are logged in with HTTP authentication (either basic or digest). This authentication is arranged by the browser, so you would have seen a pop-up dialog asking for a user name and password while logging in. It seems that these are cached by the browser and it requires you to restart the browser to log out...
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_access_authentication
    http://www.tolaris.com/2009/09/08/logging-out-of-http-auth-with-firefox/
Because I found that having to restart the browser quite annoying I stumbled on this question and also on the HTTP Logout add-on that allows you to log out without restarting your browser. Not many sites use HTTP Authentication, but you might give it a try.
