SSRS reports global access

I have created one project in MSBI - SSRS. Under that I have 6-7 charts. I have deployed them successfully on my localhost machine using ReportServer and it is working absolutely through browser.
My challenge is I want to access these reports from some other corner of the world; so that machine may not present in the same domain / LAN / etc. How should do this? Client don't want to install tool, etc.. they just want to see the reports by hitting URL
which should open in browser and should be able to see the reports.
Please help me out.

Hi Inssaurabh,
According to your description, there are several reports on your Report Server, now what you want is that deploy this report to internet, so peoples who not present in the same domain can access to them, right?
In this case, we can create a custom application, display the reports on it using ReportView control, and then deploy this custom application to internet.

  • How to pass server/domain credentials when accessing SSRS report through SSRS Web service programmatically?

    I am trying to render SSRS Report located on my remote report server in my ASP.NET MVC 4 app through reporting services web service programmatically.
    how can i send the server (windows/domain credentials) at runtime?
    tried below but no success.
    ReportingService2010 service = new ReportingService();  service.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential("username", "password");    service.Url = "http://MyReportServer/ReportServer/";

    Why are you using window domain credential ?
    Simply "rs.Credentials =
    System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials" should work.

  • SSRS Reports taking long time to load

    Hello,
    Problem : SSRS Reports taking long time to load
    My System environment : Visual Studio 2008 SP1  and SQL Server 2008 R2
    Production Environment : Visual Studio 2008 SP1  and SQL Server 2008 R2
    I have created a Parameterized report (6 parameters), it will fetch data from 1 table. table has 1 year and 6 months data,      I am selecting parameters for only 1 month (about 2500 records). It is taking almost 2 minutes and 30 seconds
    to load the report.
    This report running efficiently in my system (report load takes only 5 to 6 seconds) but in
    production it is taking 2 minutes 30 seconds.
    I have checked the Execution log from production so I found the timing for
    Data retrieval (approx~)       Processing (approx~)               Rendering (approx~)
    10 second                                      15 sec
                2 mins and 5 sec.
    But Confusing point is that , if I run the same report at different time overall output time is same (approx) 2 min 30 sec but
    Data retrieval (approx~)       Processing (approx~)                Rendering (approx~)
    more than 1 min                            15 sec
    more than 1 min
    so 1 question why timings are different ?
    My doubts are
    1) If query(procedure to retrieve the data) is the problem then it should take more time always,
    2) If Report structure is problem then rendering will also take same time (long time)
    for this (2nd point) I checked on blog that Rendering depends on environment structure e.g. Network bandwidth, RAM, CPU Usage , Number of users accessing same report at a time.
    So I did testing of report when no other user working on any report But failed (same result  output is 2 min 30 sec)
    From network team I got the result is that there is no issue or overload in CPU usage or RAM also No issue in Network bandwidth.
    Production Database Server and Report server are different (but in same network).
    I checked that database server the SQL Server is using almost Full RAM (23 GB out of 24 GB)
    I tried to allocate the memory to less amount up to 2GB (Trial solution I got from Blogs) but this on also failed.
    one hint I got from colleague that , change the allocated memory setting from static memory to dynamic to SQL Server
    (I guess above point is the same) I could not find that option Static and Dynamic memory setting.
    I did below steps
    Connected to SQL Server Instance
    Right click on Instance go to properties, Go to Memory Tab
    I found three options 1) Server Memory   2) Other memory   3) Section for "Configured values and Running values"
    Then I tried to reduce Maximum  Server memory up to 2 GB (As mentioned above)
    All trials failed, this issue I could not find the roots for this issue.
    Can anyone please help (it's bit urgent).

    Hi UdayKGR,
    According to your description, your report takes too long to load on your production environment. Right?
    In this scenario, since the report runs quickly in developing environment, we initially think it supposed to be the issue on data retrieval. However, based on the information in execution log, it takes longest time on rendering part. So we suggest you optimize
    the report itself to reduce the time for rendering. Please refer to the link below:
    My report takes too long to render

    Thank you to post your question on TechNet forum.
    After reviewing the whole post, I have a question to you. You can access the report via the link, http://myServer/Reports_DEVPROJECT/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fData+Mgmt%2fSample+Letter.
    From the URL, I can see that the report is located at: /Data Mgmt/Sample Letter, instead of /DataMgmt/Sample Letter. In addition, I found that the target report is "/DataMgmt/Sample HAP Letter" instead of "/DataMgmt/Sample Letter" as the error described. I
    am not sure whether you post out the correct code segment.
    Please check the above things on your side, and hope it is helpful to you.

  • Generate SSRS Report and save as PDF in SharePoint

    Hi,
    I am working on a SharePoint 2010 Visual WebPart that lets a user click a button to generata a SSRS report and save the report in a SharePoint Library as a PDF file.  Code is mentioned below:
    try
    string siteContext = SPContext.Current.Web.Url;
    string strReport = siteContext + "/Reports/Quote/Quote.rdl";
    WR_SSRS.ReportExecutionService rs = new WR_SSRS.ReportExecutionService();
    rs.Url = siteContext + "/_vti_bin/ReportServer/ReportExecution2005.asmx";
    rs.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
    byte[] result;
    string format = "PDF";
    string historyID = null;
    string devInfo = "<DeviceInfo><Toolbar>False</Toolbar></DeviceInfo>";
    WR_SSRS.ParameterValue[] parameters = new WR_SSRS.ParameterValue[3];
    parameters[0] = new WR_SSRS.ParameterValue();
    parameters[0].Name = "EnqID";
    parameters[0].Value = enqID.ToString();
    parameters[1] = new WR_SSRS.ParameterValue();
    parameters[1].Name = "QuotationID";
    parameters[1].Value = quoteID;
    WR_SSRS.DataSourceCredentials[] credentials = null;
    string showHideToggle;
    string encoding;
    string mimeType;
    WR_SSRS.Warning[] warnings;
    WR_SSRS.ParameterValue[] reportHistoryParameters;
    string[] streamIDs;
    WR_SSRS.ExecutionInfo execInfo = new WR_SSRS.ExecutionInfo();
    WR_SSRS.ExecutionHeader execHeader = new WR_SSRS.ExecutionHeader();
    string SessionId = null;
    string extension;
    rs.ExecutionHeaderValue = execHeader;
    execInfo = rs.LoadReport(strReport, historyID);
    rs.SetExecutionParameters(parameters, "en-gb");
    SessionId = rs.ExecutionHeaderValue.ExecutionID;
    result = rs.Render(format, devInfo, out extension, out mimeType, out encoding, out warnings, out streamIDs);
    execInfo = rs.GetExecutionInfo();
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite(SPContext.Current.Site.ID))
    using (SPWeb web = site.OpenWeb())
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
    SPFolder folder = web.Folders[siteContext + "/Quotes"];
    string filename = string.Concat(quoteID, ".pdf");
    //remove old copies
    SPList lib = web.Lists["Quotes"];
    foreach (SPListItem i in lib.GetItems())
    if (i.Name == filename)
    i.Delete();
    break;
    SPFile file = folder.Files.Add(filename, result);
    SPListItem item = file.Item;
    item["EnquiryID"] = enqID.ToString();
    item["FinalQuote"] = "No";
    item.Update();
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;
    catch (Exception ex)
    LogError(ex.Message);
    The WebPart works fine in my local server and even on another development testing server.  However, once deployed to the live server that has claims authentication it stops working and throws an error that says:
    "Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.
    The request failed with the error message:
    <RSError xmlns="http://www.microsoft.com/sql/reportingservices"><MoreInformation><Message>An unknown error occurred with the Reporting Services endpoint on this SharePoint site. Contact the SharePoint site administrator for help.</Message></MoreInformation></RSError>
    If I open the report manually in SharePoint Site, it works fines it even works fine when try to view in a WebPart.
    Can someone help me with this ?
    Regards, Vikram

    Hi Vicky,
    Based on the error message, it is related to the service account for reporting service.
    If the Report Server service runs under a built-in account such as NetworkService, the Grant database access option in SharePoint Central Administration will not work correctly.
    Configure the service account to run under a domain user account as follows:
    1. Start the Reporting Services Configuration tool and connect to the report server.
    2. On the Service Account page, click Use another account, enter a domain user account, and click Apply.
    3. Click Web Service Identity, for Report Server, click New, type an application Restart the Report Server service.

  • Open a PDF File from a SSRS Report

    I have a requirement to include a link of some sort on SSRS reports that opens a PDF file.  If this were being implemented in an Access report, a click event using the Application.FollowHyperlink method will do the trick.  Is there an analogous
    method to accomplish this on a SSRS report, please?

    Thanks to Bipin.P !  Although I do not yet have the product installed with which to work, I found the following in the RDL specs.  So, if SSRS functionality is identical to that of an IsHyperlink textbox, our requirement will be satisfied
    easily.
    Thanks again to all!
    From the SQL Server Reporting Services RDL (Report Definition Language) Specification document, page 41:
    Action
    The Action element defines a hyperlink, bookmark link or drillthrough action associated with a ReportItem.
    Name
    Type
    Description
    Hyperlink
    Expression (URL)
    An expression that evaluates to the URL of the hyperlink (18)
    (18) The Access IsHyperlink property of Textboxes will be supported via this more general mechanism. The Hyperlink property of the Textbox can be set to the same expression as
    the Value property of the Textbox.
    Implemented on an Access Report on 05/06/2010:
    Set the IsHyperlink property of a Textbox to Yes
    Set the Value property of the Textbox to =”Open PDF File#C:\UPDATES\HelpFiles\UIU Boot Menu.pdf”

  • Urgent : SSRS reports zoom in option is not working in IE9 compatability view

    Hi,
    We have SSRS reports which when viewed in IE 9 compatability view, zoom in option is not working properly.
    SSRS report have 4 charts inside a rectangle. when zoom in from 100% to 50% only rectangle shrinkes not the charts.
    Please let me know why it is happening and solutions if any?

    Hi Wendy Fu,
    Thanks for your support. Below are the steps and screenshots as per your requirement.
    /*******************Below are the steps to replicate ************************/
    This document explain IE9 compatibility issue with SSRS report (SSRS 2008 R2 and IE9)
    Tools and software used:
    Reports are rendered on Share Point 2010 server which uses SSRS 2008 R2.
    Reports are accessed using web browser IE9, IE10 ….
    Problem statement:
    To work OTHER reports compatibility mode in IE should be ON
    To work SSRS reports (mainly zoom) compatibility mode in IE should be OFF
    OTHER report is being used by customer and they will start using SSRS reports as well. While using both OTHER reports and SSRS reports customer do not prefer to keep switching between compatibility modes.
    “Browser Mode: IE9”
    Steps to reproduce Zoom issue for SSRS report with Compatibility mode is given below:
    Step-1: Select Tools menu -> Compatibility View Settings
    Below setting is suggested for OTHER users so tick as shown below,
    Step-2: On decision center select link and Open the report home page and click the link to open the report.
    Step-3: On SSRS reports Change Zoom level from 100% to say 50%. Here all charts are not moved with container frame.
    If “Browser Mode: IE8” is set with following steps then this issue does not happen.
    Press F12 and from and select IE8 as shown below.
         Press F12 again so this will set the mode and then try Zoom option it works fine. However this setting temporary and will remain for the session only.
    If compatibility mode is OFF then also this does not happen. Please see image below.

  • How to hide columns in each page of SSRS report for grouped tablix

    Hello all,
    I have a requirement like when SSRS report (used row grouping)is exported to EXCEL
    1)  Each report page should be exported to a separate excel sheet
    2) Each sheet will have different columns (that is some columns will hide in sheet2, sheet3...)
    3) Eg: If a country report is there with details like country name, country code, currency code. Now each country details should export to separate excel sheet and sheet 1 should show Country Name and Country code; Sheet2 should show: Country Code, Currency
    Code; Sheet3 should show: Country Name, Country Code, Currency Code.
    I am done with point#1 above: Each report page should be exported to a separate excel sheet. Can some one help on point#2:Each sheet will have different columns (that is some columns will hide in sheet2, sheet3...)
    Thanks,
    Paandey : Dont forget to mark it as Answered if found useful

    Hi paandey,
    According to your description, there are three columns named country name, country code, currency code in the report. When export the report to excel, you want to show Country Name and Country code in sheet1, Country Code and Currency Code in sheet2, and
    show all of the three columns in sheet3.
    In Reporting Services, we couldn’t achieve your goal by setting visibility of columns in one tablix. As a workaround, we can use three tablix in the report, then add page break to the tablix. For detail information, please refer to the following steps:
     1. Since you have created a tablix with three column, copy and paste it to the report twice.
     2. Right-click column handle of Currency code in tablix1, click Column Visibility.
     3. Check Show or hide based on an expression, click (fx) button, then type the expression:
    =(Globals!RenderFormat.Name = “EXCELOPENXML”)
     4. Right-click column handle of Country name in tablix2, set its visibility like step3 above.
     5. Select and right-click tablix2, click Tablix Properties.
     6. In General pane, in Page Break Options section, check Add a page break before check box.
     7. Click Visibility in left pane, check Show or hide based on an expression, click (fx) button, then type the expression:
    =(Globals!RenderFormat.Name <> “EXCELOPENXML”)
     8. Select and right-click tablix3, add page break to it like step6 above.
     9. Set its visibility like step7 above.

  • How to display an "All Day Event" date correctly in an integrated SSRS Report?

    I have two event items in a calendar list in SharePoint 2010. Both items have the same start time and end time. One of them, however, has the "All Day Event" checkbox checked. If I access them through a REST service, this is how the data is
    returned:
    <!-- item 1 -->
    <d:StartTime m:type="Edm.DateTime">2014-03-21T00:00:00</d:StartTime>
    <d:EndTime m:type="Edm.DateTime">2014-03-25T23:55:00</d:EndTime>
    <d:AllDayEvent m:type="Edm.Boolean">false</d:AllDayEvent>
    <!-- item 2 -->
    <d:StartTime m:type="Edm.DateTime">2014-03-21T00:00:00</d:StartTime>
    <d:EndTime m:type="Edm.DateTime">2014-03-25T23:59:00</d:EndTime>
    <d:AllDayEvent m:type="Edm.Boolean">true</d:AllDayEvent>
    I have a report in the same SharePoint 2010 site that uses SSRS in integrated mode. The data source is the calendar list mentioned above.  The date fields are not formatted, just displayed as them come from the list/database.
    My locale is set to en-US. When I run the report, the start date for item 1 is displayed as "3/21/2014" ('all day' set to false) but the start date for item 2 is displayed as "3/20/2014" which is incorrect ('all day' set to true).
    I did some research online and found out that SharePoint stores all date fields as UTC except for 'All Day Events', which are stored in local time (our servers are in Central Time, but I'm running the report fom Pacific Time, in the US).
    I coudn't find a solution to display the date correctly in the integrated SSRS report. Is there a way, maybe some straightforward formatting, to show All Day Event dates correctly? I tried adding hours but this is inconsistent with daylight saving hour changes.
    I would appreciate any help.
    C#, Sharepoint

    Hi SharpBud,
    The date for all day event stored in SQL in GMT time, the start time for an all day event returns the start time in GMT time, which is not the current time most likely.
    This is a confirmed issue, as a workaround, I would suggest you to use a calculate column for the event for the column, using the following format:
    IF(TEXT(([End Time]-[Start Time])-TRUNC(([End Time]-[Start Time]),0),"0.000000000")="0.999305556",IF([Start Time]=ROUND([Start Time],0),[Start Time],DATE(YEAR([Start Time]),MONTH([Start
    Time]),DAY([Start Time])+1)),[Start Time])
    Thanks,
