Stabilization squiggles gone

I've analyzed events for stabilization, and all seemed to go fine. The red squiggle lines appeared under the shaky areas of the vid.
Issue: I moved the video from an internal drive to an external - using the event library. All went fine. But now when I view the event on the external drive - there are no red squiggle lines under the captured video, and when I check the video for stabilization iMovie says it has already been stabilized. Also, the small red squiggles menu at the bottom of iMovie next to 'Show' is no longer there.
Question: Is there a toggle or something to turn the display of sqiggles back on? I cant seem to find.
Thanks in advance for any help!

It's not a checkbox anymore, but it IS still an Option:
(just click on the "empty" box to the left of Stabilization -- it will turn on and you will have access to the options -- turning it off again will restore the footage to its original "shakiness".)

  • Warp stabilizer is gone..

    hello
if i tried to search this effekt in premiere Pro cc 2014 is not there anymore!!??
    can somebody help me?
    thanks

I ran into the same problem today and got it fixed. It appears for some reason my clip wasn't working because of clip length (or something along those lines). Nesting the sequence didn't work, neither did restarting premiere and/or computer; but when I scaled the clip back it worked like a charm. I tried this a few times until I got back to the clip length I was originally hoping for and it works. Looks like some random blip that occurred when I dropped the file down.

  • Stabilization disappears when uploading through Share Vimeo/Facebook/Youtube.

    Hey all,
I just shot a wedding video on Saturday. (I have five videos prior to this already uploaded on the respective three websites, all through iMovie 11 using the same method of clicking Share then each site).
Now, whenever I upload my latest video (fully edited, stabilized, etc.) the stabilization is gone by the time the video is to each site. The quality actually ends up worse than before it was stabilized. I use camera stabilizing equipmnt so there is hardly any tremor or sway in any of my shots so this should not be an issue. Some of my shots now shake like someone was jumping up and down very quickly. I rewatched an unstabilized version of my video in iMovie 11, QuickTime and I made a DVD to test on the TV. Yes there is some shakyness (because it is unstabilized) but, it's far superior than what is being uploaded into Vimeo/Facebook and Youtube.
So I tested a stabilized version doing the same three methods. Turns out near perfect. No shaking, very stable and smooth pans and shots. I reuploaded to Vimeo/YouTube and Facebook again last night. Same results, all stabilization gone and what appears to be an over exaggerated shaking of the camera.
Any ideas? I have never had this problem before this latest upload. I have OSX Snow Leapord up to date (refuse to buy Lion) and iMovie 11 up to date. It's becoming rather aggrivating as I rely on these sites to work correctly to help promote my business.
You thoughts and exptertise are greatly appreciated.

    Anyone by chance?
Just tried creating a Quicktime version of the video per Vimeo's tech support. Did the same thing. It's like the Stabilization is not taking. Ideas?

  • How can I reset/undo a movement stabilized clip?

    Hello everybody,
My question is regarding the dominant movement stabilization that Final Cut Pro X can do. It's very clever, but sometimes does more harm than good, the clips turn into funhouse funhouse mirrors. I believe it's doing its best with my shaky footage, but I can't figure out how to undo a stabilization of a given clip, or reset it – does anyone know how this can be done?
On non-stabilized clip I have the option to Analyse and Stabilize, as well as a Stabilization item in the Inspector. Here I can customize it manually.
But on a clip already stabilized via Analyze and Stabilize there is no Stabilization item in the inspector, and no mention that the clip has already been stabilized. It's a bit too Microsoft for my taste ('I know what's best for you') if I have to accept the application's fix.
Of course I could reimport the media all over and not have it stabilize it, but this clip is already edited on my Timeline.
    Any input appreciated - thanks!

  • Export to FCE from iMovie

Ok so I exported some video that I did a ruff cut on through the share menu vie the XML option from iMovie 09. When I bring it into Final Cut Express 4.0.1 the image stabilization is gone and my video is now all jerky again. Other than that all the other adjustment done in iMovie are preserved. Any way to preserve the image stabilization importing to Final Cut Express or exporting from iMovie. Or maybe an affect that Final Cut Express has that I can use to simulate stabilization. I do not want to just export the video as quicktime and then import it into Final Cut since this will mean I have to manually split all the different cense and then do more sensitive editing.

so, why not using iM as stabilizer-tool only?
drag all your material which needs stabilization into a Project, export as appleintermediate.mov
import the resulting file into FC/e, edit, raw or sensitive there.
I'm following this workflow in my projects for color-keying material - iMovie's 'green screen' feature is unbeatable in speed & convenience, compared to FC/e's color-key effects.

  • IMovie - how to re-analyze clip

I'm republishing some videos that I created a couple years back. I noticed, though, that the stabilization that I applied before (which did a very good job) is now terrible. It looks even like it has more shake than before. Is there any way to "re-analyze" the clip? I've tried creating a new project and dragging in the video from the events, but it's still using the same analysis (in fact, "Analyze Clip" is grayed out).
Any way to remove redo the analysis?
    Thanks,
    Tony

This worked perfectly, thanks! After doing what you suggested, I went back into iMovie and double clicked the clip, unchecked the stabilization box, and then clicked it again and it re-analyzed it.
I wonder what happened to the stabilization to begin with? The projects/events are two years old. I may have moved them to my new computer...don't remember. It is a bit worrisome that the application somehow "forgot" the stabilization (it actual keeps the original zoom but the stabilization is gone).

  • Image stabilization not working in iMovie 9.0.7

Imported footage from Nikon V1 at 1080 30 fps. Tried to apply image stabilizaiton to some clips. iMovie analyzes clips for stabilization and the icon for stabilized clip appears and indicators for rough footage appear, but on playback, there is no difference, and the slider for stabilizaiton amount is gone from the inspector. I have stabilized clips before from other cameras, so I know what it should look like, but it apparantly doesn't work for video from this camera. And yes, I added the clips to the project before trying to view it, still no difference. Any ideas?

  • Any way to get reasonable auto-shift stabilization performance?

    Hi all,
I'm trying to find a way to get much-better performance from a necessary, very basic, stabilization effect for a huge collection of archival video.
The context: 20k+ feet (500k frames?, ) of 8mm film that I'm capturing at HD resolution. Unfortunately there is a painful amount of per-frame "jitter" in the capture process. It should be easy to stabilize, as the sprocket hole is visible in every frame, so there's always a nice spot for a stabilizer to lock onto. All I need is the simple "shift and crop" level of stabilization.
My equipment: very fast brand new Win7 x64 Pro system, 32GB RAM, fast 12 core CPU, nVidia CUDA GTX 6xx series GPU.
The challenge: as others have found, Warp Stabilizer is AWFUL on performance during the first analysis phase. It appears to use no GPU at all and only one CPU (if that), working in the background. My machine is sitting there totally bored... which is more than a bit frustrating because a three minute clip requires 40 minutes to process through the first analysis phase!
What am I missing? Is Warp Stabilizer simply an incomplete feature? I remember using the basic SteadyMove/SteadiCam plugin that came with CS2 -- it worked reasonably well and was quite speedy even on my old computer. Have we really gone backward this far?
Any thoughts, suggestions, alternatives most welcome!
    Blessings,
    Pete

Been trying Warp there, and the AE plain single-point stabilizer. Incredibly UNstable -- ie AE crashes after about a minute no matter what I do. Hard to believe these have been tested very much. (But then, I used to get paid to break S/W... it's a gift )
The point stabilizer is soooo close. If it would not crash, and if I could add one more bounding box to limit the overall range of motion (when "sync" is lost), I'd be in fat city...

  • File size bloat still evident in CC 2014.1 (or just stabilization?)

In the last couple of nights, the project I am working on (originally imported from 2014.0) has gone from 3MB to 16MB to 61MB without any new importing or explicit rendering.
It's a small project. A single 10-minute sequence with perhaps 16 master clips, most used 4-5 times or less. There's a lot of primary and secondary color correction (half to master clips) and vignettes, but not an excessive amount. I am new to Premiere Pro (but very very smitten with it ).
I have done most of my warp stabilizing over the last few nights (corresponding, perhaps coincidentally, with the 2014.1 update). Several people on these forums have suggested that the project file storage of warp stabilization data is to blame, but I have not heard this from Adobe and, as a software developer, that doesn't make sense to me. (I would think that the product of warp stabilization needn't be more than the stabilization "solution", an overall zoom value and an x,y for each frame.)
If additional "hint" data from the stabilization is also stored in the project file to help with future re-stabilizations, this would explain the growing file size but the optimization seems to be hurting more than helping. The clips took only 5-10 seconds each to stabilize initially and I lose that time with every auto-save. In addition, the performance of unrendered playback has suffered significantly on my Win7 i7 16Gb with 1100 CUDA cores.
If it is warp stabilization data, it would be good to know. I can disable auto-saves for now and, in the future, ensure that stabilization is done much later in the workflow.
I also want to thank you folks for all for the answers you provide here -- I have learned a huge amount from this community!

To be fair, the stabilization solution is more than just a 2-D offset, it's a warp stabilizer, after all.
I did a quick test using 3 of the 6 unstable master shots in a new project and made 6 clips overall to make a small representation of my larger project. As warp stabilization was added, the file size grew from 150k to 4MB.
Scaling this growth up to match the relative number of clips in my full project, it roughly matches. So question answered, I suppose.
The performance hit on adjustment visual feedback and playback has me seriously considering removing all the stabilization and repeating it closer to end of editing.

  • Only my email font size has changed....it's gone smaller while everything else including ads is normal size. How do I change it back to 12 pt type?

twice in the past few weeks the font size on my email has changed smaller. The first time it went from 12 pt type to maybe 10 pt type. Last night while I was chatting on Yahoo with our daughter, it went down to maybe 2 pt type. I couldn't find a way to change it back. This morning I opened up the computer to try to work on it again and the font size was maybe 1/2 pt type. The words look like little squiggles on the page. Both my email addresses on Yahoo have reacted the same but the ads to the right of the email on the mail page remain the same size. If I open up another window, and say go to foodtv.com, everything is normal size. I have opened up Safari and gone to my email and everything is normal szie so the problem is the Mozilla. I have also called ATT and gotten help and they couldn't help as it's definitely a Mozilla problem.

  • Premiere Pro CC's Warp Stabilizer BUGS...see for yourself. (7.0.1 & 7.1)

I'd love to hear from Adobe Staff on this one. Hopefully they can focus on fixes over features for the next update, especially for one it's most touted effects.
Warp Stabilizer works great at stabilizing clips in Premiere Pro CC...but I'm beginning to learn that it's quite buggy. The two bugs below simply cripple the user experience when you use the effect a lot like we do. Here's a link to a sample project with just 2 clips (around 1 minute in length each) on two separate timelines with each clip stabilized using the Warp Stabilizer effect. It's only a sample/test project meant to show the issue which can be MUCH larger in a longer/bigger project. Relink to any longer media and you'll quickly see what happens when you have multiple warp stabilizers applied to a Premiere Pro CC project and how problematic it can be.
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/105331144/Warp_Stabilizer_SAMPLE_Project.prproj
    See for yourself.
Two VERY Annoying BUGS and One Unfortunate Feature:
BUG #1: (It affects 7.0.1 and the new 7.1 Release/Update)
    1) With GPU Acceleration Enabled and both sequences open, once the timeline render bar has turned yellow, hit save.
    2) Now toggle to the 2nd sequence and you'll notice a delay/freeze as the render bar switches back to red and then yellow again.
    3) Now toggle back to the other sequence and you have the same thing occur. Then, you can toggle back and forth with no delay...until...the project saves (or auto-saves) again...and then the delay/freeze will happen all over again.
    4) Side Note: Even when you right-click on the sequence in the Project window, there's a delay. Right-click on a sequence with no Warp Stabilizers and the drop down list pops up immediately.
What's the Big Deal?: When you have tons more warp stabilizer effects applied to multiple sequences, not only does it take a while to save, but when it does, you are forced to wait while Premiere Pro freezes momentarily. This affects AUTO-SAVE too!!! The more warp stabilizers, the longer the wait. Our sequences have delayed up to 30-40 seconds depending on how much we've used warp stabilizer in each sequence. Imagine if you have Auto-Save set to every 30 minutes or less, well that means that every 30 minutes or less you'll be forced to stop while premiere freezes up for 30-40 seconds or so (depending on how much this effect is used). Other effects do NOT have this issue.
BUG #2: (It affects only the new October Release/Update of Premiere 7.1...this issue is NEW and does NOT occur in 7.0.1!!!)
    1) Take the above project into Premiere Pro CC 7.1 (again, this does NOT occur in the previous 7.0.1 release) and hit FILE>EXPORT>Media.
    2) You'll notice a delay while the EXPORT SETTINGS popup opens.
    3) Toggle to different "FORMATS" in the export settings window and there's more delays every time the format is switched.
What's the Big Deal?: Again, this is a small sample project. When you have a much bigger project with lots more Warp Stabilizers applied to many more clips this "delay" can extend up to several minutes!!! Yes, on a recent project over an hour with MANY warp stabilizers applied to lots of clips, it took 7 minutes for the Export Settings window to pop up after hitting EXPORT>Media. And there was about a one minute delay now when switching formats. This occurs whether GPU Accleration is enabled or not. It ONLY occurs on Premiere Pro CC 7.1
    UNFORTUNATE FEATURE #1:
We obviously use Warp Stabilizer A LOT. It's a great effect. The above bugs cripple the user experience. This last issue isn't a bug, but rather a default setting on Premiere Pro's warp stabilizer that should be changed. Within the settings of Warp Stabilizer there's a section called "Method". The default setting is "Subspace Warp". That sounds pretty cool. But in practice, and we have had lots of practice (eg. THOUSANDS of clips stabilized in just the last few months alone (no exaggeration)), we've found that switching the default method to "Position, Scale, Rotation" is a MUCH more effective way to stabilize a clip. Most of the time it cuts down on that "wobble" that you might see in complex moving clips...but more importantly, 9 out of 10 times it crops the video either the same or less than when you use the default method. By "crops less" I mean that the "Auto-Scale %" is less. Of those 9 times, I'd guess 7 or 8 of them would crop in on the video less while the other 1 or 2 times there would be no change to the Auto-Scale %. Less scaling = better.
What's the Big Deal?: Well, as cool as Subspace Warp sounds, our numbers don't lie. Again, we use this effect on HUNDREDS of clips every week. When you have to go into hundreds and hundreds of clips every week and keep switching the setting so the effect will work better, it gets old real fast. We end up wasting so much time doing this but it's worth it because the results are undeniable. Why not create a CUSTOM PRESET???! Well, that'd be nice if it worked...but it doesn't. The problem with a custom preset like that is that when you drop it on a clip, it doesn't activate/analyze the clip automatically so you have to manually go into the settings and hit analyze which negates any time saved. It's be great if the default "method" was simply changed to Position, Scale, and Rotation. Or at the very least, it'd be great if one could create a custom preset that would automatically activate/analyze the clip it's dropped on (just like the original effect does).
(BONUS FEATURE: It'd also be nice to have the ability to set a "max scaling %" too so you never crop in more than a preselected amount...but first things first...fixes over features.)
NOTE: I'm on a 2011 suped up iMac running OSX 10.8.5

Would it help to  Render these Warp Stabaliized clips instead of leaving them in the sequence w/ the Effect applied?
Any way to "Batch" Warp Stabalize your media before editing so the effect is not needed during the edit?
Sounds like you guys could benefit from having your shooters use a "Stabalizer".
Thanks for the rendering tip rEvolution. Rendering the clips does help with BUG#1, however, I'm not sure if it would truly save us any time because of the constant need to render and rerender tons of very short clips with this effect as we make adjustments to the edit. Warp Stabilizer is GPU Accelerated so playback is really smooth which is great but why does saving a project have any effect on this and cause it to freeze up? And then it works great...until the next time the project is saved. Using any other effect, there is no issue (that I've found) when a project is saved or auto-saved.
Rendering unfortunately has no effect on BUG#2 in Premiere 7.1 (again, this bug/issue did not occur in Premiere 7.0.1)
Regarding "batch" stabilizing...I'm not entirely sure what you mean. We do stabilize dozens of clips at a time before editing because it's imperative for us to know which clips (the sections we've pulled) will stabilize effectively. And then once the longer edit is complete we end up pulling all the best shots from that long sequence and copy/paste it to another sequence to make a 2nd shorter edit.
To say we've gone back and forth about the use of stabilizers would be an understatement. The fact is that we've spent almost 4 years creating a unique way to shoot based almost entirely around the effectiveness of warp stabilizer. It's taken years of trial and error but our style of shooting effectively allows us to mimick and thus replace the need for stabilizers, sliders and cranes. The extra freedom allows us to get MUCH more varied coverage of live events. It's different, I know, but it's fun and rewarding having a unique style. Granted the extra work is passed on to the editing side, but it's worth it IMO especially if these issues were addressed/fixed.
Regarding the "unfortunate feature" I mentioned, I would be satisfied knowing the default method works great for others if one were simply able to apply a custom preset of the clip with the adjusted method and it activated automatically and began analyzing the clip without the need to manually go into settings and hit analyze. That would be nice.
    Thanks again for your input.

  • Stabilization doesn't crop after I export.

    Hey all,
I am somewhat new to Motion in general but a veteran at FCP. My questions is this:
I have a project that I created in Motion 5 that uses the stabilization feature. While in Motion, I used the "zoom" feature to keep the frame filled and leave the black out of the picture. When I am in motion and I play my project, I can see the program moving the full frame around so that the canvas is filled and stable. This is exactly what I want. When I export the video, all of the sudden that zoom crop is gone and I see the full frame like the zoom is no longer taking place. What setting do I need to change to fix this? Let me know if you need screen shots or video shots of what is going on. Thanks!

I'm having same problem here. I had to render twice to make sure it wosn't my mistake.

  • Stabilize Multicam clip

Just completing my first multicam project using FCPX. I need to add some stabilization to one of the clips. The problem I have is the stabilization controls are not visible when editing multicam. I am sure that there must be a way, once finishing selecting the different camera angles you can return to normal editing mode.
Addittional information: as their are 12 diffrent camara angles I editied in Proxy and have now gone back to Proress 422 to see if the stabilize would appear..no luck.
    regards

Double-click the Multiclip itself, in the Event Browser, to open it into the Multiclip editor (not the project).  Select the angle to stabilize and do it there.

  • Can't stabilize digitized video?

I attempted to analyze an entire 2 hour clip captured by digitizing an 8mm analog tape. Analysis took about a day, and the surprising result was a two-hour-long red squiggle. Is this "normal", that you can't apply stabilization to analog conversions?
I'm converting my old analog 8mm tapes to DV streams using a Sony camera I got on e-bay for this purpose. So far it's going OK and the captured video looks better than I expected. BUt I'm surprised that I won't be able to apply stabilization. Would it help to break up the clip?

I think it would definitely help to break up the clip. You can do this with MPEG Streamclip really easily.
Do the first clip with MPEG Streamclip and then analyze to make sure.
Hint: Drag 2 hour clip into MPEG Streamclip. Set playhead at "in" point for first clip and press I. Set playhead at 'out" point of first clip and press O. Then Export using QuickTIme at current dimensions and codec. Then repeat the process until you have all the individual clips you want.
Another Hint: After you do this, set the date using "A Better Finder Attributes" or by renaming the clip thus: clip-yyyy-mm-dd hh;mm;ss.ext where hh is 24 hour time and ext is the current extension (e.g. DV, MOV, etc.)
Now when you import into iMovie it will show up in the proper year and month in the Event Browser.
