Stack questions

I have created folders with multiple applications to be used as stacks. On the dock it shows these folders with multiple icons. Is there a way to edit/choose a single icon for each stack instead of having jumbled mess of icons.
Thank you

I just typed stacks icons into Search Discussions field & screen came up with, above the results, the following fields:

Restrict by Category or Forum (This can be changed to All Categories if it isn't already set)
Restrict by Date Range
Restrict by Username

The other way of getting to this screen is to click the More Options link above the search field.

  • 3750 stacking questions (2)

My first questin has to do with the Console port in a stack. It has been observed that the console port on the master switch is designated "Con 0". So my question is how do I access the other con ports on member switches to configure them?
The second question is what is the mechanism for statically numbering all of the switches in a stack so they are always numbered the way I configure them to be ie in case of some disaster or power outage I need to know that switch 5 will come back as switch 5 even if switches 1-4 do not come back to life.
    Thanks

    1. When you connect via a console cable to any of the switches in a stack you always access the stack master. The stack master is the only switch that can be used to configure the stack and its members. Assuming you have a stack of two 48 port (10/100/1000) switches; switch 1 is the master and switch 2 is a stack member. If you want to configure ports on switch2 you just use the appropriate port numbers (int gig 2/0/1 to 2/0/52). If for some reason you need console access to a stack member you can use the 'session ' command; however, do keep in mind that this access will be limited to only show and debug commands. All configuration is done via the stack master.
    2. You can renumber a switch to ensure that it always retains the same number by using the 'stack renumber ' command. For example to renumber switch 2 in a stack to 3 you will use 'switch 2 renumber 3' global configuration command.
The following URL has great information on how to manage switch stacks.

  • 3850 Stack Question. I'm new to stacks

So, I have two 3850's I want to put in a closet.  Do I stack them or just leave them stand alones...  My plan was to connect each to the core switch using fiber and users on each switch.
When I conenct the switches using the stackwise cable, I have an active and standby...  Is there a way to make the standby a member?  is the standby in true "standby" mode?  Can I use the ports on the standby switch?
SO many questions   Apppriecte any help..
    Thanks

BTW, when you stack your pair, ideally, you still want an uplink from each switch.  Depending on L2/L3 configuration, on both your stack and core device, you should be able to use the bandwidth from both links to/from the stack too.  Also, if possible, try not to have the two links terminate on same line card on your core device, to avoid that also being a single point of failure.

  • Stack question

I use a series of <1 or 0> values in a two-dimension array, and use a boolean[][] variable to store them. But the size of each element on the stack is static, isn't it, so if I need the 1/0 values as binary strings, I might as well use an int[][] variable? I mean, it wouldn't take up any more memory or any more system resources to process? The difference actually is of little importance in my program, but I hope I'm not the only one to find the question interesting.

What ever you are actually looking for, the answer is "it depends". See
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/vmspec/2nd-edition/html/Overview.doc.html#22909 and
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/vmspec/2nd-edition/html/Overview.doc.html#6654
What comes to memory usage, boolean arrays (equivalent to byte arrays) are smaller than int arrays. That means that the stack size, which may vary, can be smaller if you use boolean arrays.

  • SG500 stacking question

Hello we have 3 SG500 switches in my company's network, my question is can we stack them using a combination of udp and sfp cables? The problem is that the first switch is approximately 60 meters away from the others two.

    Hi ,
Stacking is supported with twinax cable , not with UTP copper cable or SFP fiber cable .

  • 500 Series Stacking Question

I'm sure this is a silly question, but I wasn't able to find a definitive answer elsewhere.
If I have two stack cables connected between two SG500-series switches, it my effective link speed between the two devices 2000Mbps in each direction, or does one of the stack cables sit idle waiting for a failure?

Thanks.  As a followup, if I had a stack connection and a trunk connection between the two switches, then would my effective link speed between the two be 2000Mbps, or would the stack link be only used for management in that case?  I'm trying to see if I can increase my bandwidth between the two switches using only two cables already in place.

  • Beginning Bluetooth Programming - Basic Stack Question

I have moderate but not extensive experience with Java development, and have just stumbled across the javax.bluetooth JSR-082 packages. I'm interested in using these packages, but have a general question or two that deals just as much with bluetooth as it does with Java itself...if anyone could be of help, it would be much appreciated.
Despite all the articles I've read, I'm a bit confused about the initialization of the bluetooth stack. My laptop has bluetooth integrated into it, is running XPSP2, and from what I can tell its now using the WIDCOMM driver. Does this mean that I have access to the WIDCOMM stack (ostensibly using the Broadcom SDK)? Or do I need additional software? I also keep reading that XP has included the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack...but nowhere do I read how to access it, nor any instructions, nor the beginning of instructions, for initialization of either the WIDCOMM or Microsoft stacks within the context of JSR-082. Any suggestions or input would be appreciated.

  • PS CS3 extended "load files into stack" question

    Hi,
I've been trying to use the "Load files into stack" script in PS CS3 extended but the problem is that if for example I have files with these names:
    File_1
    File_2
    File_3
when I use the script it puts them together but in the wrong order so in my layers they are like this:
    File_1
    File_2
    File_3
which would be wrong because the File_1 is my first image but it's the last layer so if I make this into a gif file and watch it, it would play backwards.
I was wondering if there is away to fix this. thanks in advance.
PS: If there is anything I need to provide to make it easier for you to help me, please ask.

Thank you jugenjury for your fast replay, but let me explain what exactly I'm doing maybe it helps, I'm not very familiar with PS so I'm kinda confused about what you just said.
I'm trying to make a .gif from an .avi file. I tried using the File>Import>Video Frames to Layers but I get all blank layers so I used another program to take mass screen shots. so I have 133 images which I want to make into a .gif file. I use the Load files into stack script then in the animation tool I select the "make frames from Layers". It all works out so far but the problem is that the video plays backwards because of the problem I explained in first post.

  • CS6 Bridge "Auto-Stack" question

As a landscape photographer I shoot multiple exposures of the same image for use in HDR.  I recently used the Auto-Stack feature under Stacks in Bridge.  It did not work well, it grouped the images incorrectly.  Now I want to undo this and go back to the basic panel where all the images are shown in sequence.  How do I do this?  I have tried to purge this file, restarted Bridge but always shows it with stacks.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Don't have Bridge active for the moment but in the same menu as you found autostacks there is an option to unstack all from groups. You probably have to select all files first. After unstack all you can use the sort filter date created to getbthem again in the right order.

  • 3750G Stack Question

If I have a 3750g EMI image switch and I add 3 SMI image 3750G switches, will the IP services EMI image overwrite the SMI's?

    Hi Friend,
No It will not overwrite the SMI images with the EMI. More likely in this case the IOS will have the different major version revision number and Switches with different major version numbers are incompatible and cannot exist in the same switch stack.

  • Cisco 2960-X stacking question

    Hi all,
We're planning buy 6 set of Cisco 2960-X with stacking with existing two firewall with HA function (please see attached diagram), if firewall 01 down will auto failover to firewall 02, is this network design good ?
Please some expert give us suggestion.
    Thanks

    1. Do 2960-X support 6 member stacking ?
2960X support a stack size of 8, however, you need to be careful.  The stacking speed of the 2960X is 20 Gbps.  So you need to know if stacking up 8 is beneficial or not.
    2. Do 2960-X support Bladeswitch stack cable ?
No.  The stacking cable for the 2960S/X/XR are specific only for this models.
    3. I think need buy stack module, right ?
    Stacking modules and stacking cables.

  • SF500 and SG500 Stacking Questions

I'm having trouble finding specific answers for features on the 500 series, so I figured it may be good to ask here.
    1) Is the stacking port for the Sx500 series on the front or back?
    2) What's the speed of the stacking port?
    3) Can you build an etherchannel across the stack (using one port from each switch?)

I was wondering if it is possible to configure the stack ports individually?
It would be a good feature if you could configure the stack ports individually. I want to configure multiple stacks of 2 switches, but use one of the ports (G25 or G26) as an uplink port to the next building, but not stack between buildings.
    Eg:
    Bld 1                   Bld 2                    Bld 3
    Unit 1         /----- Unit 1         /------ Unit 1
    Unit 2 -----/         Unit 2 -----/          Unit 2
I've done a bit of research, and it looks like they are paired, so I assume not? The problem then is that one port is wasted from the stack pair (eg G26) which could be used as the uplink port. This means that it is better from a port density point of view not to stack them and use G25 and G26 as uplinks.

  • Stacking question

Is it possible to stack two different models with the WS-X3500-XL. When it is possible i would like to stack a c2950G with a C3550-12T.

    Hi Ahment,
The link you have pasted is about the Cisco StackWise Technology which is exclusively for Cisco 3750 Series Switches which is totally different from the Stacking mechanism.
Stacking could be well achieved between many models using GigaStack GBIC Modules.
Also the link below will give you the details about the same.

Do i need to order network module (C3KX-NM-1G) to stack two 3750X Switch other than stacking cable?
No.  The network module, in the -X series, it to allow differ uplink ports.
What you might need to order it a stacking cable of a longer length.  From Cisco, stacking cables come in three lengths.  Don't know if still true, but it used to be, I believe, that a 3750 would come standard with the shortest stacking cable which is long enough to go between nearby units when physically stacked vertically together.  In larger physically stacks, you would often need to order the longer cable to go between top and bottom stack units.
