  • Cloning a test CMS from a Production environment - process?

Hi there - I am attempting to clone a test environment from a production CMS system database.
    ENVIRONMENT
    BO Version: XI3.1
    O/S: Linux
    Web Server: JBOSS 4.3
    Database platform: Oracle 10g
    BOXI SETUP
    1. BOXI environment type on Production (clustered with two nodes.)
*. Linux servernames for each BOXI node=Prod100 and Prod 101.
*. JBOSS ports on both nodes=15000. CMS port on both nodes=6400.
    *. Database Sid=BOCMS@PROD
    2. BOXI environment type on Perf (clustered with two nodes)
*. Linux servernames for each BOXI node=Perf100 and Perf 101.
*. JBOSS ports on both nodes=15100.
*. CMS port on both nodes=6400.
    *. Database Sid=BOCMS@PERF
    Process and requirement
For each project, as part of performance testing, we copy the production database (CMS / system database) in order to clone it. The idea is that we have a copy of production which we can then use for performance testing. We do not need to rebuild the BOXI 3.1 server (that remains there), but we need to rebuild system database. In version five we would copy the BO_REPADMIN schema into the PERF database and then change the connections in Supervisor. Can this process also be done in XIR3.1 ?
    Options considered so far
    1. The DBAs recommended just copying the BOXI CMS / System Database tables from PROD to the PERF database. My question is - don't we then need to change the settings in the CMS database (PERF) to somehow so point to the correct physical servers / correct SIA etc.? Could I just alter th FRS references and use the cmsdbsetup.sh to alter all the details or are there other steps required (manally altering ccm.config) ?
    2. Copying the CMS from the PROD to the PERF CMS schema. However it seems like this is not an option as the Admin guides stipulates:
"However, you cannot change the BusinessObjects Enterprise installation path, operating system, and machine name"
As the installation path for the BOXI performance environment is different to production and they reside on different physical machines it sounds to me that this isn't an option, right?
    3. Use the cmsdbsetup.sh script - create a blank new CMS on the PERF database then migrate all production objects from PROD to PERF using the Import Wizard.
Could anyone recommend further options? Thanks in advance.

    Hi;
Can any one explain the detaild process about Operating level snapshot to prepare a test setup from a production databaseMainly; We are using IBM disk and our disk team take snapshot of disk and we can work on those snapshot than storage team again revert back system orginal state.
As you can see its performed by storage team contact wiht your vendor.

Hi, we need to create the test environment from our production for oracle AP Imaging. we have soa, ipm, ucm and capture managed servers in our weblogic..
Can anyone tell me what is the best way to cloning the application from different environment, the test and production are in different physical server.
Can I just tar the weblogic file system and untar it to the new server and make the necessary changes?
Can anyone share their experiences and how to with me?
    Thank in advance.

    Hi Katherine,
yes and no . You need as well weblogic + soa files as the database schemas (soa_infra, mds...).

  • Auto add test insignia in non-production environment

I would like to add a graphic or insignia (like a watermark) that indicates a report has been run in a test environment as opposed to production. I'm using 10g AS. Is their any way to configure the Reports Server to add something (a graphic file or ??) to every report run.
I know I could add something to the reports, but I don't want to be forced to edit every file to do it.

Report server doesn't have any option to add a text or graphic autometically on the reports. You have to modify reports for this.

  • Problem on developing SSRS report in a production environment

Any problem could  be caused if have to develop SSRS report in a production environment ?
If so, how it can be prevented?
    Thanks!

    Hi ,
As per my understanding, Normally our environment setup contains Development, testing, preproduction, production and its varies from company to company.
We develop SSRS report in development environment and after testing we deploy it to production report server.
Development environment use development database for creating report like your database IP and credential will use development environment
setup. and production environment use production database for creating report like your database IP and credential will use production environment setup.

  • Automatic Deploying of Portal Configuration from Staging to Production Environment

    Hello,
I'm anlyzing the opportunituy to write an automatic procedure that synchronize
our WebLogic Portal production environment with the staging one. These two environments
    are physically separated.
I have found the BEA Propagation Tool. However it seems that is not possible to
define a procedure that is really totally automatic.
Firts of all, it is necessary to hava an manual operator that selects the objects
that have to be propagated and after starts the propagation process.
Besides it is necessary to have database connections beetween the progation tool
    and both the environments.
What I'm looking for is a solution that
    1. analyze the staging environment
    2. export some files that contain both code, configuration and data (code, LDAP
    and DB data)
    3. import these files into the second enviroment
has someone deal with this problem?
    Thans in advance
    Ciao

    Manish,
    to answer your questions -
    1. You can find the exact date and time for these refreshes/maintenance schedule on your production pod. Just go to 'Training & Support' in your production. There will be a calendar in which you can see the maintenance schedule. The details are quite accurate. to be sure of the time I would suggest you get in touch with the Service/Support rep at Oracle.
2 & 3) Oracle CRM On Demand provides a Migration Tool that can be used to migrate configuration changes from on POD to another. This can be between Staging --> Production and vice versa. Although, I would recommend that you go through the migration tool bookshelf and understand in detail the use of this tool. There are limited configurations that can be migrated. So it would be wise to create a plan based on what changes you are looking to migrate.
Note: Reports are copied on the Staging after the refresh only from Prod to Staging. This does not happen from Staging to Production. Reports will have to be created in Production and will be copied on Staging on a Quarterly basis (Check your refresh schedule)
    4) You can use the migration tool to migrate configuration changes from a live environment into another instance.
The migration tool can be downloaded from:
Admin --> Import and Export Tools -->Oracle Migration Tool On Demand
You can download the Migration Tool Bookshelf here:

  • Need to refresh Test environment from Production

    Hi All,
I need to refresh our Test environment from Production.
Can anyone help me with the list of special tools from different vendors to do it?
Any kind of help is appreciated.

    Hi Manoj,
Thanks for your response. I am aware of the system copy.
can you help me with some tools from different vendors that can be an alternative to system copy.
we have categorized the task into 3 categories:
    Database restore
    Client Copy
    Special tools
The third one includes tools from different vendors (for example: TDMS from SAP itself).

  • Migrating Trading Partner from test  to Production environment

    Hi,
My Production environment has configuration for two trading partner.
I need to migrate one more trading partner from test environment to (the existing) production environment.
I see Agreement level export, TP level export, Config level export options in Oracle B2B.
Can you please suggests as to which is the fastest and most accurate way to migrate new trading partner configuration?
    Regards,
    Ravi Shah

There is nothing as preferred option. However you can keep few things in mind.
    1. Agreement Export - Preferred option , if you would like to export only specific Trading Partner and Agreement details.
    2. Repository Export - For full repository export.
    3. Trading Partner Export - This option do not keep any TP in mind while taking the export, hence you may not information about Delivery channel and Agreement. This provides information about Trading partner profiles and Supported Document defition of the trading partner.
    Let me know.

  • How to port database changes from development to a production environment

How do I port database changes from the development to the production environment?
I am using v8 and have always had to redo everything using the schema manager all over in the production environment. Is there an easy way to generate a script, for example to dump the database changes on the development machine to be executed later on the production machine?

This should already be a clearly defined change control process. Once a procedure, function, package, trigger, or whatever completes the testing rounds, it should be promoted to production.
Forgive me if it seems I'm trivializing, but I don't see the problem, just copy the object(s) from your software library (or development) into production using whatever tool works best or has been chosen. If you are doing data copies then you have various options again including good old export/import.

  • Best way to transfer application from Test Environment to Dev. Environment

    Hi All,
We are try to create an application on Hosted Environment similar to www.apex.oracle.com.
    We got two work space
    1. app_production
    2. app_test
My application will have 200+ tables and many other supporting object.
My question is in hosted environment what is the best way to copy application from test to production environment (P.S In hosted environment I can uses SQL Developer / TOAD or any other tool .. its similar to www.apex.oracle.com)
With my present workaround I have to use
Go to Utilites -> Generate DLL
and then export this and application..
The main problem is 200+ table and associated structures .. its very difficult to keep track ...
Can anyone suggest me any good way for HOSTED ENVIRONMENT

    Hi,
    Just an idea:
1 - Do a DDL export of the source env
2 - Do a DDL export of the target env
3 - Use some tool to compare those files and highlight the differences. There are even some tools that are smart enough to generate SQL statements to apply the differences in the target env.
    I hope this helps.

  • How to migrate reports from Development QA Production environment

    Hello,
we have 3 Oracle Discoverer 10.1.2.3 environments and I would like to know what is the correct way to migrate reports from DEV to QA and to PROD.
I'm researching about this by a couple of days and didn't find anything handy.
The most likely way that I found was to export the entire EUL from one environment to another with the eulapi with a command line like that:
    exporting:
eulapi -connect DEVUSER/pass@orcl -eul DEVUSER -export exp_all.eex -all
    importing using [ -import_rename_mode refresh ]:
    eulapi -connect QA_USER/pass@orcl -eul QA_USER -import exp_all.eex -identifier -import_rename_mode refresh -log imp.log
    That would work.
However if the developer delete some object from the DEV environment and then import in the QA environment the deleted object won't be deleted from the QA environment and after some time the QA and PROD environment would be a mess.
Another way that I figured out was to drop the eul from the PROD environment and then import all over. That would solve the problem but It has a lot of risks.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Jonas Zanon

    Hi,
I think the best approach is to export the EUL components (e.g. business areas, folders, hierarchies, workbooks etc) separately from your development environment and hold these in a change management system. You can then import the components into test and prod and know which version of each component you have.
Often when you make a change you will have to export/import several components. For example, if you add a folder you will need to export the folder, any business areas that hold the folder and if the folder is joined to any detail folders then these as well.
We don't have scripts to delete components from production. Very rarely do you need to delete anything from production and generally it is not a good idea because reports will stop working because the references in the reports are missing.

  • Working with Test/Production environment as application sets

    Hi to all,
does anyone here works with a Test/Production environment system?
We've got a single system (2 machines, one for the DB server, one for BPC), and we were thinking on making 2 application sets: Production and Test. While most of the things is easy to migrate from one system to the other one (since almost all of them are files), what worries me a bit are dimensions and some configurations of the application, security, and so on...
Has anyone experience about it? Would you suggest it?
    Thanks
    Daniele

    Hi Daniele,
As rightly suggested, duplicating an appset can be easily done on 2 different physical systems. In the source, you run the server manager and take the backup of your appset. Then copy the back up folder from source to the destination through the network. Again use server manager to restore the appset from the backup folder. With this process, everything will be migrated and you dont have to worry about anything.
The point of worry is, lets say you have moved everything to the PROD and then you continue doing development in DEV and then you want to move these changes also. Now, again taking backup and restoring will not be the right option because by now, there might be some PROD data available. and if you restore again, then all that data will be lost. So, after the first restore, whatever you are doing in DEV, keep a note of all that. So, that the same thing can be replicated in the PROD system.
    Hope this helps.

  • Links on Staging Portal/Environment open Production Environment Pages

    Brand New Admin Here.
I have been given the task to look into and fix the problem. In the Staging Portal/Environment there are several links ("payment" links, "menus", "detailed info" links) that open into Production instead of opening into the Staging
    Portal.
    1. location of link: Payment Links
https://contosobuild2.microsoft.com/finances/pages/deposits.aspx ---when you click it, it goes to ---->
    https://www.officialpayment.com instead of https://staging.officialpayments.com
    2. location of link: Teaching Scheduled Accessed Link
Teaching Scheduled Accessed from Staging Portal at https://contosobuild2.microsoft.com <-----This Opens Production url instead of staging url.
    opens Production url (https://catalog.microsoft.com)
    instead of Staging url (https://catalogtest2.microsoft.com)
    3. location of link: Section Detailed Info
Accessed from Staging Portal at https://catalogtest2.microsoft.com <-----This Opens Production url instead of staging url.
    opens Production url (https://catalog.microsoft.com/Lists/Sections/CustomDispForm.aspx?ID=2640&InitialTabId=Ribbon.Read)
    instead of Staging url (https://catalogtest2.microsoft.com/Lists/Sections/CustomDispForm.aspx?ID=2640&InitialTabId=Ribbon.Read)
Please advise on how to change the links to the correct pathway, instead of routing to production environment, I want it to route to the correct location in the staging environment

changes will depend on where they exist in the environment... if it's in the content area of the page, you'd need to go into the pages' edit mode to make the change... if it's in the navigation menus, you'd need to go into the site's settings to change the
navigation links... if it's somewhere else, it'll depend.
In regards to #1, no, there is no part of SharePoint that will ever "know" of an environment, and automatically change things around... just as when a file is copied from one computer to another, the file will never change... similarly, when the
SharePoint databases are restored from one environment to another, they are ignorant to the difference, and their contents will never "automagically" change.
In regards to #2/3, scripting the changes is a large topic, and requires knowledge of a scripting and/or programming language (PowerShell, C#, etc). But whether changed by script or by hand, you will need to know where the changes exist in order to apply
    the changes.

  • Copying/Duplicating MOSS 2007 Production environment to Test

    Hi,
We are planning to upgrade our MOSS 2007 environment.  For this, we need to create a test environment similar to the production.  So far we have created the VMs (cloned) of the WFEs and created fresh SQL 2005 server.  We have also taken
backup of all the content databases  from the production SQL server and restored it on the test SQL server.
Please guide us on the next steps to configure the test environment to work.
    Thanks,
