Standalone Player (Projector) SOL Fails in Vista

I have a Flash MX application compiled as a Projector to run
as a Windows standalone (no browser), but it needs to get data from
a server application using sendAndLoad (through plain HTTP). This
data must be stored in Shared Local Objects (.sol files) for the
app to run. It works fine in Windows XP, and did work fine in
initial Windows Vista. But now it fails in Vista SP1 (although
server logs show it still runs the server app). So either Vista SP1
is blocking the data return (and the firewall
is open for the Flash exe), or preventing the Flash exe from
writing the SOL file to disk - or something else I haven't thought
of.
Grateful for a solution.

BTW, the ZT works fine on an XP system using same software as on Vista

  • Standalone player (projector) for Linux 64?

I'm looking for a standalone player (projector) that will run on 64 bit linux (specifically ubuntu 11.04).  There was a projector included w/ v10 but it appears to be 32 bit only.  Is there or will there be a standalone player for linux 64?  I need this to run automated tests (FLEX SDK w/ TeamCity) on a headless box.
    Thanks!

i am looking for this too, any ideas?

  • How does Flash Player projector/standalone connect to the Internet

I know that when a web service call is made from a flash player in the browser that the underlying browser is used to handle the traffic.  I also know that this isn't the case with flash projector because the security docs say that the projector files can't take advantage of SSL because they aren't run in the context of the browser.  So what mechanism does a standalone or projector application use to connect to the Internet?  I'm trying to analyze a possible application for someone from a security point of view, but I'm not sure what mechanism is in place.
Thanks to anyone who knows or even knows of some decent references.  I can't find much on projectors....

As far as I know, the standalone player does not connect to the Internet - it just plays local Flash content.
Or can you actually give it an Internet (http) location to play?  (I do not currently have Projector installed, so I cannot try it.)

  • How to customize title of standalone player?

I have a small Flex based calculator that I need to publish
    as a standalone .exe
I open the SWF in the standalone player, and File > Create
    Projector.
I can rename the file, but the title of the player window and
the tab on the windows taskbar says "Adobe Flash Player 9".
Is there any way to generate the projector and have the
titile be sometthing different? It makes sense, since the player is
running, that it identifies itself, but I was wondering (for
application distribution) if there is any way to change it somehow.
    Thanks!

  • Files not bundled with standalone player

When creating a Mac projector file from Flash CS4, I'm only getting the standalone player app (13MB) not the project files bundled together. Before I encountered this problem, the final projector files were around 25MB. I've reinstalled Flash and am still having the problem.

What keeps you from crossgrading if you've got other FCS apps?
Here's another option. Get Apple Motion used. Then crossgrade to FCS for 200[total it's a freakin deal]! Where there's a will there's always a way...Hey.

  • Change standalone player version in .exe?

I need to publish an .exe with Flash Player 9 embedded as the standalone player. I have CS4, which embeds Flash Player 10. Is there a way to change the standalone player to version 9 without using CS3 to export the .exe?
I have attached a .jpg displaying visually what I need.
Thank you for anyone who can provide assistance!

After several days of putting things together, I have successfully gotten CS4 to export different standalone player versions. Here are the steps:
1.) Go to http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html and download old debug versions
2.) Navigate to Flash folder, rename Flash 10 player to "FlashPlayer2" and paste, in my case, version 9r45, rename as "FlashPlayer"
3.) Relaunch Flash CS4, export as .exe, and it exported as version 9r45... now they interchange easily
All of this was necessary because of the FullScreen bug in v9r115 and above to v10. I went back to 9r45, changed the casing of the string values, and it worked perfectly.
Hopefully this will help others in the future.

  • Flash Standalone Player

After reading a post that helpfully informed how to download files by double clicking on them in Safari's Activity window I managed to get some Flash files from YouTube.
When I double click on them I am asked for a default application - which I reckon should be Flash Standalone player - but the only one I can get to open the files is VLC.
How do I get a Standalone version of Flash or has it been installed and I can't find it? I've been to the website, downloaded the installer but I don't see any option to download or install a standalone app.
    Ta.

Anyone who encounters this issue please give it a vote in Adobe's bug base

  • How can i test my web applications SWF in the standalone player?

I have been using flash builder for a bit, and i love it!, but i don't want to test webb applications in my browser, i want to be able to launch them in the standalone player or debugger. After numberous google searches, it seems my flash builder IDE has something wrong with it, ( Even after re-installing it ) because when i try to make a new launch configuration, it doesn't have a field to accept a run or debug path. only a path for the html file used in the browser. This conflicts with all of the adobe help posts . I'm stuck here. can anyone help? thanks.

    I would avoid using <center> tags, they're deprecated (http://www.w3schools.com/TAGS/tag_center.asp)
instead I would do something like
    <div style="margin: 0px auto 0px auto; width: 800px;"></div>
put your content inside that div and it should be centered. Set the width to whatever you want.

  • Unable to launch swf in standalone player

I'm unable to launch swf's with the standalone player from
within flexbuilder, it will always use the browser.
I've unchecked the option 'Generate HTML wrapper file' from
the 'Actionscript Compliler' settings menu and I've tried to force
it to use the debug player to the best of my knowledge.
    I'm on OSX 10.5.1 ( macbook ) and using FlexBuilder 3 beta3.
I've done two reinstalls of the OS, and the problem still comes up.
I've installed FlexBuilder first and then Flash CS3. I've prayed to
the internet search engines with no sign of hope, so please
adobe... you're my only hope :)

    Hi toknee,
There was a bug related to this problem. The next FB release

  • Non-Debug version of standalone player?

Both Flex Builder and the SDK include the debug version of
the standalone flash 9 player. How to I get the release (non-debug)
version of the standalone player for Windows? Does it exist?
I see a place to download the release version of the
standalone player for OSX but not for Windows.
    Thanks

    And the answer is...
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/ts/documents/tn_19166/Install_Flash_Player_9_Acti veX.zip
(Until the link breaks some day...) Adobe really hid this gem
well as far as I can tell, buried in the flash install trouble
    FAQs. But whatever, happy now.

standalone as the name says "stand alone". it runs on desktop
    not in the browser.
In fact, security will never allow to run standalone in
    browser nor any type of
    such file for that matter.

I believe you need to go into System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement so the image you want appears on the projector.

  • Can I start adobe flash player projector with parameters?

I need to execute adobe flash player projector on the Windows command line.
How can I execute it with parameters like " -fullscreen"?

i couldn't find any documentation on the command line arguments, but you could add a couple simple lines.
    for example:
    on (load) {
        fscommand("fullscreen", "true");
that should bring into fullscreen when it loads.
