I've just installed Firefox on my laptop and keep getting the message, "Windows cannot find 'c:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again." I get this message whenever I either try to open it from the Start menu or from the desktop icon. I've never gotten it to work and even uninstalled it and then redownloaded it and still cannot get it to open. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Are you installing from the official site? http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
If you use Windows Explorer (My Computer) to check that path, is the Mozilla Firefox folder there? That is the normal installation location, but I think it's worth checking.
If the folder isn't there or firefox.exe is not in it, I wonder whether some other software might be interfering. You might want to run some supplemental security scans. These two tools are highly regarded:

  • Blackberry Desktop Software installed, but not on start menu or icons on desktop

Blackberry Desktop Software installed, but not on start menu or icons on desktop
I got a new laptop Windows 7.  I installed Blackberry Desktop apparently successfully.  However, doesn't appear on start menu nor desktop.

    Hey tgcraighead,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
After the installation did you restart the computer?  If you go into Control Panel>Programs and Features do you see BlackBerry Desktop Software listed in the applications?
Did you have a previous version of BlackBerry Desktop Software installed?
I look forward to your reply.
    Cheers.

  • Failed to start Share could not initiate desktop share

we have calabrio QM recording as well as jabber running. we record their desktop with calabrio. however when we have a user that tries to initiate a desktop share with jabber it gives us the error "Failed to start Share could not initiate desktop share" when i stop the desktop monitoring and recording service from calabrio it works. i thought that there might be some port overlap but they have alot of ports that are open to chose form and i find that hard to believe.
i have been told that if calabrio and jabber use the same remote assistance windows api they will never work in harmony. Does anyone know if jabber uses the remote assistance api to for screen sharing?

This problem is not isolated to the Broadcom adapter. However, based on several inquiries, we list the following instructions based on other customers successfully working around this issue:
Place the Broadcom driver files in the original image folder (the image folder created when risetup.exe was executed for the first time).
    Example: i:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\(Original Image)
Place the Broadcom driver files in the i386 subfolder under the original image folder
    Example: i:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\(Original Image)\i386
Place the Broadcom driver files for the network adapter in the RIPREP Image folder.
    Example: i:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\(RIPREP Image)
Place the Broadcom adapter drivers in the i386 subfolder where the RIPREP Image is located.
    Example: i:\RemoteInstall\Setup\English\Images\(RIPREP Image)\i386

    Hello,
How can i add the shortcuts for Office 2013 feature (Word, excel, ext) to the users taskbar or desktop with using config.xml file while installing the Microsoft Office 2013 from SCCM?
I know how to do that with OCT, but i have another problem if i use OCT. So i have to do it with Config.file, but i don't know which code can i write on config.xml file to create shortcut on desktop or taskbar...
    Regards,

    Hi
There is a known issue about
changing the shortcut location for an Office 2013 application:
When you try to change the shortcut locations for Office 2013 applications in the Office Customization Tool (OCT), you receive the following error message:
Invalid start in folder. Please try again.
Then, you add the Start in location for Office 2013 and run a customized installation. When you double-click the shortcuts that are displayed on the desktop, Configure shortcuts does
not work and you receive the following error message:
Sorry, we couldn’t find your file. Is it possible it was moved, renamed or deleted?
To work around this issue, type a single open bracket ([) in the Start in
    field.
In addition, refer to the link below on "Configure shortcuts" in OCT:

  • Windows 7 on Boot Camp stuck at black screen with blinking cursor... starts up fine in Parallels desktop

    Hi,
Recently my dad's Windows 7 (Ultimate 64-bit) on his Mac Pro has stopped working. It gets stuck at a black screen with a blinking cursor. I've waited at least five minutes and it doesn't do anything, I have to power it off.
However it starts up perfectly fine and intact in Parallels desktop. If I insert the original installation DVD and boot from the Disc that says 'Windows' it will boot into the partition and work fine, unless I press a key to boot from the DVD.
I find both these things to be strange. The partition is backed up, which is fine, but I'd rather not have to re-install it if possible.
I have booted from the DVD and tried to repair the disk. It said it found a problem with something related to startup and that it needed to restart to repair it. I clicked yes, and then held alt/opt and (I think wrongly) booted back into the disc rather than the Windows partition. However it now says that it can't detect any problems.
In the repair my computer section when booting from the DVD, it detects the OS as Windows Vista Business. I followed these steps I found online:
Fixed! Peroblem was I think using OEM, which Bootcamp advise against using... they advise to use retail only. Fixed like this:
    1. Put the Windows 7 installation disc in the disc drive, and then start your computer.
    2. Hold down Option key till all available disks are displayed and select DVD. Press a key when you are prompted.
    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then 4. click Next.
    5. Click Repair your computer.
    6. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
7.In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
    Type (these commands are safe)
    Code: Bootrec.exe /FixMbr
    Code: Bootrec.exe /FixBoot
    Code: Bootrec.exe /RebuildBcd
    *Press ENTER after each command.*
    *Restart your computer.*
    Done. Rockin'
FixMbr was successful, as was FixBoot. However RebuildBcd reported that it found no Windows installations.
Does anyone know what could be wrong here? I should note that recently I removed the drive Windows 7 is installed on and put it back in. Also Windows Updates probably have been done by my dad. Not sure if they could be the problem.

  • G3 won't start from HDD (CD-Rom OK, Flashing ? & Mac Logo)

    Hi All,
I recently purchased a 2nd had Power Macintosh G3 (Blue & White) from the local school who were using it as their server.
When I got it home and plugged the monitor, keyboard, mouse and power in I fired it up.
All I get is a "?" inside a folder alternating with a face (Mac Logo?). I can hear the HDD's working, but they don't sound like a roulette ball (As discussed in other areas).
What I have tried (From other messages in this forum):
    1. A flashing question mark appears when you start your Mac - Article http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58042 including resetting the PRAM
    2. Booting from Power Macintosh G3 boot CD-Rom and running the "Disk first Aid". When both HDD's are installed, the util doesn't recognise anything other than the CD-Rom.
    3. Disconnected slave drive and attempted to boot from the HDD I got a message in a big black box asking me to reset the computer in multiple languages.
    4. Booted from G3 CD-Rom with only the master HDD installed I get:
This disk is unreadable by this computer.
Do you want to initialize the disk?
Mac OS Standard 9.5Gb / Mac OS Extended 9.5Gb
If I press [Cancel] I finally get booted (From the G3 CD) I can run the first aid util and it recognises "Untitled - ATA Bus 1 Dev 0" and when I verify the HDD I get different errors each time I run it and "Test done. Problems were found, but Disk First Aid cannot repair them. The volume "untitled" could not be mounted"
    5. Booted from G3 CD-Rom with only the Slave HDD installed I get the same result as #2 above.
Thanks in advance for your advice...

It's good to know at least the main hardware is working
Sorry, but I am unable to find the utility that you mentioned. I checked all the menu's (Including the Apple Logo) and no profiler was there, so I used the built in help and it also mentioned the profiler, but when I clicked on "Open the Apple System Profiler for me" nothing happened...
You mentioned Mac OS X, I don't know what OS is on the HDD's. Going by "about this computer" the boot CD is Mac OS 8.5.1 Mac OS ROM 1.2.
As for the "Drive Setup" utility, it doesn't recognise any of the two HDD's if they're both connected, and if the Slave is disconnected, I get the error I mentioned in my original post (Ref Point 4) and drive setup shows the following:
Volume Name Type Bus ID LUN
    power Macintosh G3 ATAPI 0 0 0
    <not mounted> ATA 1 0 0
Sorry for the delay in my response. I have been talking to the school to see if they have been experiencing any problems and they said that before they decomissioned it, it was working perfectly as their server.

  • VDI - RemoteApp does not start in "Virtual machine-based desktop deployment" environment

    Hello dear community,
I would like to familiarize myself to the subject of desktop virtualization and have built up a test environment for this purpose. Most went smoothly, but now I'm trying for days to figure out, why the deployed RemoteApp programs in my test environment not
start. Unfortunately posts here and in other blogs were not helpful. I hope you can point me to the right direction. :)
    My environment
    Server 1
Windows Server 2012 R2 Std with the roles
        AD DS,
        DNS,
        DHCP
    Server 2
Windows Server 2012 R2 Std with the roles
        Hyper-V,
Remote Desktop Services (Connection Broker, Virtualization Host, Web Access),
        IIS
    VMs
    Windows 8.1
    RD Client 1
Laptop with Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 9, Firefox 28, RemoteApp and Desktop Connections
    RD client 2
iPad with Microsoft Remote Desktop App
    Setting up the environment
The installation of the environment I made as mentioned in the following blog post. http://blog.itvce.com/?p=1569 But with only two physical servers.
    What does work?
Prepared with SysPrep and "cloned" Windows 8.1 VMs created in the collections of virtual desktops are accessible via WebAccess (RDWeb) using IE, FF, Windows Start menu and also from the iPad as a complete desktop for authorized users/groups. The VMs
wake up in Hyper- V from the saved state and roll back to it after the user logs off. So far so good.
    What does not work?
Now to what does not work. One collection of virtual desktops I have reserved for the publication of RemoteApp programs. So this new collection - like the above - was created. The VMs were built and successfully registered in AD. Then I used "publish RemoteApp
Programs" wizard in the collection. The available programs were successfully read from the VM. WordPad, Calc and Paint I used for the test. The programs/apps will then appear in RDWeb.
In RDWeb I now click on the Calculator, the warning described in many blogs appears that resources are passed through and then that the certificate could not be verified. Although I have already added the certificate to the trusted root CA in the user and the
computer area, I acknowledge that I would like to connect despite the certificate error with "Yes".
After about 20 seconds the "Connect to ..." window disappears and that it was. In Hyper-V Manager the corresponding VM does not move even if it's running. If the VM was not running and in saved state, it is at least started. But the Calculator will
    still not start.
Can anyone give me a proper hint what to do, which Bing, Google and Technet did not have?
    Thank you in advance!
    Kay
PS: Since I am from Germany, I have asked the question first in the German forum. Unfortunately, without success.

    Hi Kay,
    Thank you for contacting Microsoft.
From your description, I learnt that the issue you are experiencing is that you want to eliminate the certificate warning when launching the Remote App applications. Please let me know if I misunderstand your purpose.
Firstly, please let me know what certificate you are using. Then please export and import the certificate on the RDSH server. We need to manage the certificates. Please refer to
    the steps below.
    1. Open the Collections which you want to manage, click
    Edit Deployment Properties.
    2. On the Certificates page, select
    Select existing certificate.
    3. When the
Select Existing Certificate page appear, please select Choose a different certificate, locate to the right exported certificate path, and type the correct password, and
select Allow the certificate to be added to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities certificate store on the destination computers.
    4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to finish the certificate configuration, here we can use the same certificate.
If anything unclear, please feel free to let me know.
    Best regards,

"This Program can't start because ExtendScript.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"
If however I try to launch from the directory of the installation or the task bar it launches with non of the errors stated above I will also state that

    Hi awroecreative,

Did you run the 15.1 update from Help > updates or from the CC Desktop Application?
Try installing that, if still fails, might need to uninstall, and reinstall.

  • Network dissapeared from desktop

Just lost workgroup network on my iMac.Running updated Leopard.I'm able to connect to shared workgroup drives via "last used" but i don't see the network icon or computers anymore. Please advise.
Also constantly freezing while on slide show screen saver. After going to sleep, unable to use keyboard or mouse to get into the system. Slideshow frozen on the screen between two pictures. Have to hold on power button in order to restart iMac.

    Hi George
Last night i restored the system via Time Machine and rolled back to 02/01/08.
I was able to get the network drives on the desktop, again by using the option LAST USED FOLDERS.
When i do that than one of the network computers shows under shared (the one containing the shared drives. But does not shows on the left side of the window until i manually invoking to connect to the shared drive.
Others still unable to see or to connect to, even the mack book.
I tried to do the system test. I inserted the TechTools disk in, hold the C key and restarted the Mac - nothing happened, the system just booted. (I installed the upgrade for TechTool Pro previously)Tried this for 5-6 times.
I tried to clean the PREM to with no succes - hold the CONTROL + OPTIONS + P + R, started the Mac while holding the power key pressed - nothing, the system just booted to login screen - no BEEPS at all????????
Kind of LOST in space i guess.
I changed the settings for screen saver and power saver: instead of showing a slide show, i choose the RSS feed, to turn on after one hour of inactivity.
I disabled the power management so the system nor the HD won't go to sleep.
I'll post you with findings on this. I did it last night.
Buy the way the system is iMac 20" duo w/2gb ram.

  • OS 10.4.1 Start Up disk missing from desktop

Is it my imagination or do Macs these days have a proliferation of oddities occurring when you least expect it.
Anyway, my problem is that I booted up my Intel 2.66 dual this morning, it started up fine, system running, apps all there etc. But then I noticed the hard disk icon for my Start Up disk was missing from the desktop.
Its there, its mounted, its running the system, all my apps work but you can't see it to double click on it on the desktop and when you go into a finder window its not listed in the drives available.
Its mounted, its verified, its seemingly all okay but its just not visible on the desktop or in the finder window.
I can get to it by opening a finder window from one of the two other disks attached to the machine and then searching for something on that disk - ping - the file is returned in the finder window with the directory showing the Macintosh HD as its root. I can then select that in that finder window and it opens up the window for the disc.
Any clues as to why this might have happened and more importantly how I can get it back.
    Cheers
    James

    Dale
Oh yeah - just updated it ! The 2.66 dual replaced my G5 Quad which died on me recently. I must say i've been pleased with it so far. I produce CGI work for architectural projects so speed is of the essence. Needs the ram though (possibly not the 8 gig I've got but that's so i can run four renering apps at once with 1.5 gig assigned to each - which incidentally works a treat). When i first got the machine it came with 1 Gig of ram and it was horribly slow, now it flies. Ideally I'd have got a 3 ghz machine but had to buy this off the shop floor in the local Apple dealer (Cardiff) and it was the only one they had.
So on balance I think its a pretty good machine. I've had a few glitches with it but that's down to early release UB software rather than the hardware.
