Start up issues with T707, lit black screen and directional pad.
Hi,
I really need some help with my T707. I'm currently getting a black screen when I turn it on, and it won't advance further. The directional pad lights up, and it just stays that way. What can I do, is there anyway to reset it? Whenever I take the charger off, it is no longer lit, and I have tried a couple of batteries, and they don't appear to make a difference. I've tried restoring factory settings, but I can't get it to be detected by my PC.

My iPad just stopped playing videos. The original app that comes with the iPad opens with a blank black screen. I have shut all apps, and the shutdown the co ad, but no effect. Where to from here?
Try searching for the name of one of your videos on the iPad's spotlight search screen - swipe your first homescreen to the right, type in it's name, and if it finds it tap on it to see if it plays.
If that doesn't work then I normally suggest closing the Videos app via the taskbar and re-opening it, and then a reset by pressing and holding both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds unilt the Apple logo should appear - but as it sounds like you've alreadt tried that, then see if the spotlight search works. -
I ran a settings up date on an iPad 2 and now it won't open back up. Just a black screen with an apple. Any ideas?
Have you tried a soft-reset to see if that gets it to boot up properly ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo should reappear and it will hopefully boot up fully - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

My ipod touch was with the total black screen
mine ipod touch was with the total black screen, and itunes does not recognize it you not binding
Try holding down the on/off and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo.

Computer, black Screen and reboot problem
I have problems with my computer black screening and rebooting randomly recently. Tried a few things like downgrading the nvidia drivers and only using one monitorscreen.
I was using version 347.52 but downgraded to 344.11 but still got the problem
The times this happens can be anytime but happens most often while i'm playing games and at the moment i'm only playing on normal graphics while my graphics card should be well good enough to handle ultra graphics.

PopcornTime starts with a black screen and does not load
I installed PopcornTime from the AUR and it does not seem to load. When I launch the application, it simply loads a black screen and does not move from there. When I launch the application from the terminal, I get this output.

It seems as though quite a few files are missing, though the yaourt built the application just fine.I had the same issue with the git version. Install the stable version and it should work fine

I installed Mountain Lion in my IMac and now, some times, when I start up my mac it looks with a black screen and white text. I'm really worry about it, can somebody help me?
Don't worry, this is probably just Verbose Mode. It's perfectly harmless. If you're not specifically invoking it, than it's probably down to an unwanted setting in NVRAM. See this article on resetting NVRAM if it continues to bother you.

My Mac mini starts up with a black screen and white writing.
Okay basically I purchased a Mac mini (Intel Core 2 Duo 1.8GHZ 1GB RAM model) in Feburay 2008, and in June 2008 i decieded to bring it to a store to get it upgraded to 2GB. At the store the guys told me my Mac mini wouldnt accept 2GB, they reckon it was 'cause of the logic board. So they put a new one in and was able to succesfully install 2GB.
Since that day my Mac mini stopped starting up with the apple logo. Now it starts up with the white/greyish background without the apple logo, then goes to a black screen and just runs pass loads of white text then its ready to use with no problems. It does this all the time.
I've read a little about the Kernal Panic and looked at pictures of it, but what I have doesn't look like the kernal panic pictures i'm seeing.
So i am writing this pose to find out whats wrong with my Mac mini, can anyone help me?
Oh, I nearly forgot. When i turn the Mac mini off it does the same black screen with white text stuff before fully shutting down.Restart the computer with the Option, Command, P, and R keys held down, and release them when you hear the second startup chime; this clears a setting which causes it to start up into verbose mode each time.

Pro won't start. Instead get a black screen and a beeping every 2 seconds. Light at front right corner of keyboard flashes in sequence with beeping.
If it is giving a single beep every two seconds, then it is not seeing any of the memory. You could try taking the back off, remove the memory module and reinsert to see if that corrects the problem. Or just take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs do that for you.

Sorry, I'm new to the community, so apologies if I'm repeating myself.
OK, so I tried to install Windows Vista onto my iMac with the disk partition. Everything was going fine and it wasn't until last minute, when it was installed that an error came up saying that this can only be done with Windows 7. After this error, I couldn't access any errors of my iMac and when I shut down and restarted my computer, it automatically logged into Windows.
So after a panic, I rang Apple Care and the lady helped me log into my apple area, delete Windows from my iMac, and all was restored.
However, now when I shut down my computer and boot it back up, I think my iMac is trying to log into Windows areas that no longer exist. It loads up a black screen and doesn't move from there. To log into my Apple area, I have to do the whole process of holding Alt immediately after I switch the power on and access the Mac drive and log in that way.
It's beginning to become a real pain and I'm paranoid this process is going to damage my computer. Any advice on how to restore logging-in back to it's former glory when I first purchased it?

Screen problems - black screen and lock-up (plus HDMI issues)
Hi, I'm not sure if these are related to the same fundamental issue, but they are both serious problems that need resolution.
I have a new mid-2012 MBPretina. I am on all the latest updates (10.8.2).
The first problem is the most recent, and the most serious problem. Since I updated the Java a couple of days ago I've been experiencing random black screens and lock-ups. Essentially, what happens is that sometimes when I perform an action (opening an app, clicking a link on a webpage, performing other kinds of in-app actions, etc.) the computer screen will go black. About half the time I can, through my own memory, try keyboard combinations to quit or force quit the most recently used app (the one where the action was just performed), and I will get some glimpse of the underlying apps, while the menubar and other areas will remain black until I move a window on top of the black space. Sometimes no key combinations work and I am forced to perform a hard restart with the power button. This is a serious issue, obviously, since I will lose current work/progress in my apps. I'm not sure if this is because of the new Java update, or has to do with something else, but it started happening shortly thereafter, over the last 2 days. I work most of my waking day on my laptop, and this "black screen of death" has happened about 5 or 6 times a day.
The second problem I have been experiencing since I starting using my MBPr with external HDMI displays in August/September. The problem is that I will plug the MBPr into an HDMI display, the screen will temporaliy go black, and then bring me to the login screen (as if it's crashing, albeit softly). This happens about 1 out of 4 times nowadays.
How can I fix these problems, especially the first?UPDATE:
Clearly there's a problem because a third of the way through a clean reinstallation from scratch it black screened again. Hmmmm.
Now this is not good. Problem is I can't rule out potential updates from Apple that might have caused this either.

Hello all
Got an iMac since January 2008 and I do like it a lot, even though it has some issues:
-- It displays (quite often) lines partially across the screen
-- Lines appear as well when opening applications or when menus come up
-- The system freezes more than I like to admit (more than my Windows/Ubuntu box)
I don't know if the freezing has to do with the lines that are shown on my screen. But I assume that both issues relate to some video card problem. I can't be sure - but that's what I assume from living with this issue day to day.
The line on the desktop (most of the time it is there before login) I can always get rid of by changing the display resolution to something else and then changing it back. Normally the line is gone, or, reappears on a different spot on the desktop. But repeating the procedure removes the line.
However, this does not mean that the lines are not showing up again when launching apps or displaying menus!
And since those lines appear to happen randomly, I think it's safe to assume that we're not talking dead pixels here, either...
About the freezing:
My iMac freezes sometimes when I move the mouse around, when switching desktops using "spaces" or when the zoom function of the Dock kicks in. Sometimes the screen goes completely black, sometimes completely white. The mouse, however, always works. But the system requires a reboot.
Again, this happens too often to feel comfy about it.
With my little knowledge of Mac troubleshooting I assume that there's something wrong with the ATI card that's built into my Mac. On the other hand, some people say that they started getting similar issues after updating their OS to Leopard. Again other people say that such issues stem from an ATI revision that is too old and the Mac should get a new ATI card. And how would that work? Isn't that an "all-in-one" machine with everything soldered onto the mainboard?
So, any help in this matter is greatly appreciated...

iPad 2 screen won't turn on. It only shows a dimly lit black screen when I open my smart cover or press the lock button. It still works and charges, but the screen remains black. I know it still works because it still makes the charging noise and the lock noise.
I've charged it fully and I've also tried to restart it by holding the lock button and home button. It restarts but I cannot see the apple symbol because of the black screen.Hi Kayleah,

my ipad 4th gen started flickering and then went to a black screen and now dont even turn on. Ive bought a new screen, new battery pack and a new charge port and replace all and still nothing. Ive also done the ten second deal with the power button and the home button and still nothing. any ideas?

For some reason, there is no way to manually delete drafts on this IMac. I'm using Mail without any extensions, and three accounts in total. 3 pop boxes on an internal server. They disappear in the list view, but the number of drafts aren't changing.
