Start Workflow Java Code

Hello
I want to initiate WLI 8.1 Process Flow from a java client. I ahev searched BEA/Google
without any results. Please anyone pull me out of this.
Thanks in advance.
Re,
Pranay P Parsatwar

Function activities of type "External Java" were first introduced in Release 2.6. To use this type of activity, you would need to upgrade
to a higher version of Oracle Workflow.
Note: Although you can use a Release 2.6 or higher Workflow Builder with a server running Release 2.5, you cannot use any features such as external Java function activities that
were not part of Release 2.5. For details, see:
http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/oracle9i/doc_library/release2/workflow.920/a95265/dfwf09.htm#owbsrvver
I can use Java Workflow API to create and start Process in Java Code ,
but the Activity Function define As "External Java" doesn't work ...
The Workflow Engine is v.2.5.1 and I think It's running on the same machine with DB (O8i 8.1.6) Server...

• Start workflow in code - access denied

Im trying to start list workflow (sp 2013) from MVC app.
the mvc app (win auth enabled) is running by a user that is site owner.
i always get ASP.NET access denied
var workflowServiceManager = new WorkflowServicesManager(web);
var workflowSubscriptionService = workflowServiceManager.GetWorkflowSubscriptionService();
SPList oList = web.Lists["Employee"];
SPListItem item = oList.GetItemById(557);
//access denied on this line
var subscriptions = workflowSubscriptionService.EnumerateSubscriptionsByList(oList.ID);

Hi
Earlier I was putting the button (link) in the wrong place now that its in the dataform webpart @ID works !
This link now will jump to the workflows page, the problem is that I have two workflows so the user may start the wrong workflow. Then I tried to link to the initiation page instead but this is where the error occurs.
This is the workflow page link (Copied from browser url)
http://sp20104/HitsMissesApp/_layouts/Workflow.aspx?ID={@ID}&List=deff1c34-4aec-43ad-b1e8-00444d3ab674&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fsp20104%2FHitsMissesApp%2FLists%2FHitsandMisses%2FAllItems%2Easpx
This is the initiation page link, has a few more parameters. (Copied from browser url and used static ID for test)
http://sp20104/HitsMissesApp/_layouts/IniWrkflIP.aspx?List={deff1c34-4aec-43ad-b1e8-00444d3ab674}&ID=6&TemplateID={8f72c2a0-7ec7-44ac-9bb7-c0a527a6b91a}&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fsp20104%2FHitsMissesApp%2FLists%2FHitsandMisses%2FAllItems%2Easpx
When I enter the intitation link in SPD, SPD error with 'Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component.' and then crashes.
So I can only link to the workflows page not the inititaion page. Perhaps the IniWrkflIP.aspx can only be called from a select page or something?
Code for insering asp link:
<asp:LinkButton runat="server" id="LinkButton1" PostBackUrl="http://sp20104/HitsMissesApp/_layouts/Workflow.aspx?ID={@ID}&List=deff1c34-4aec-43ad-b1e8-00444d3ab674&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fsp20104%2FHitsMissesApp%2FLists%2FHitsandMisses%2FAllItems%2Easpx">Start Workflow Feedback</asp:LinkButton>
Alternatively, the button/link could simply start the workflow as I dont require the initiation page. Dont know if this is any easier though.
Any assistance welcome on this .
Thanks

• SQL Tracing for session started from Java code

I am working with Oracle 10g on Solaris 9. I am facing a problem when trying to enable SQL Trace for Oracle sessions initiated from Weblogic server. I am querring V$SESSION to get the SID and SERIAL# of those sessions and then using DBMS_SYSTEM.SET_SQL_TRACE_IN_SESSION(<sid>, <serial#>, TRUE); from the SQLPlus (using sys login). But the trace file is not being generated in UDUMP even after some queries are fired from the application. But when I am using the same procedure to turn SQL Trace on for SQLPlus sessions or SQLDeveloper sessions, they are just working fine.
Can anyone please help me out?

• Starting exetutable java file from java code

Hi I was wondering how I can start a executable java file from java code?
thanks

Hi Mkaveli,
Yes, it's possible. If you have a JAR executable, you've just to call the main method of its starter class. For a simple executable class, just call its main method.
This way :
SomeStarter.main(null); // if there's no argumentSmall precision : the executable JAR or class must be specified in the classpath of your application.

• I need to set a proxy to visite internet, when i invoke the firefox 3.6 from my Java code, my setting would be disappeared. So i wonder whether the fire fox has the start up parameter to control this, thanks!

1: I need to set aproxy in firefox 3.6, which allow me to access the internet.
2: Currently i am using some Java code to invoke the firefox, the path is D:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe. When the firefox launched by Java code, I found the proxy is missing.
3: looks like the Java code make the firefox go back to the orininal status, just like the fresh installation.
I wonder whether there are some parameters or files that can be used to control the firfox starting.

Thanks for your reply, here is what i tested:
1: Upgrade my Firefox version to 3.6.8
2: The installation path is D:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
3: For the ProfileManager, I tried to run the firefox.exe -ProfileManager in command line, the firefox was started up but not the profileManager. No sure why this happened. :-(
4: I updated some features after the installation, like add some bookmarks, delete some default bookmarks and added the proxy. When the firefox is started from my code, the profile would be the default one(No new bookmarks, no proxy).
5: Start the firefox from the command line and by double click is ok, my adding bookmarks and proxy is here...

• ASP code to start a Java program (with parameters)

Hi! All,
I am trying to write some ASP code which should start a java program. Does anybody know a simple way to do this? Am new to ASP
Thanks

It doesn't have anything to do with java.
Basically you need to make a system call which will start an external application. The external application can be anything including something like "java MyClass".
So either find an ASP forum/board/newsgroup to ask how to do a system call or read some docs on it.

Scenario :
PO is currently pointed out to User A for approval, but when they increase the dollar value, this increase will take it out of User A's Delegation. Now PO should point out to User B for approval. This was working before and stopped after applying patches to the system.

• [Best practice] How to call a service from custom Java code

Hi all,
I'm wondering what the best method is to call a standard service from custom Java code?
In a specific situation iDoc script is extended with custom functions with a custom component. There's Java code mapping to these functions that is executing these functions. The iDoc script functions are called from a workflow entry script.
In the Java code that runs when the custom iDoc functions are called, I want to call a standard Content Server service. I don't think that the m_service variable is available, so filling the binder and using m_service.executeService() probably isn't possible.
Also, if it were possible (that is, if I want to call a standard service from my own custom service Java code), what would then be the best method to do so?
Regards, Stijn

Hi Sapan,
Let me explain a bit further.
I'm an UCM consultant trying to solve a problem that occured at a client when they installed the CS10gR35CoreUpdateBundle.
Content items are entered into a Workflow when they are checked in. Part of one of the entry scripts of the a workflow step is that related content to the content item in the workflow is (re)submitted for conversion.
To achive this, a custom component provides an iDoc script extension. This iDoc function (resubmitForConversion) is implemented in Java (the class extends ScriptExtensionsAdaptor).
In this Java method, first the related content items are fetched. Then the service RESUBMIT_FOR_CONVERSION should be called for all dID's in of the related content.
Thus, at a certain point in the custom Java code, a native Content Server service must be called. Of course the class of this Java code does not extend the Service class, so the m_service object isn't available.
The thing is: before installed the 10gR35CoreUpdateBundle everything worked OK. This code was used to execute the service:
Workspace workspace = CommonUtils.getSystemWorkspace();
String cmd = binder.getLocal("IdcService");
if (cmd == null) throw new DataException("!csIdcServiceMissing");
ServiceData serviceData = ServiceManager.getFullService(cmd);
if (serviceData == null) throw new DataException(LocaleUtils.encodeMessage("!csNoServiceDefined", null, cmd));
Service service = ServiceManager.createService(serviceData.m_classID, workspace, null, binder, serviceData);
UserData fullUserData = CommonUtils.getFullUserData(userName, service);
service.setUserData(fullUserData);
binder.m_environment.put("REMOTE_USER", userName);
ServiceException error = null;
try {
service.setSendFlags(true, true);
service.initDelegatedObjects();
service.globalSecurityCheck();
service.preActions();
service.doActions();
service.postActions();
service.updateSubjectInformation(true);
service.updateTopicInformation(binder);
} catch (ServiceException e) {
error = e;
} finally {
service.cleanUp(true);
if (!CommonUtils.isWorkspaceConnectionInTransaction(workspace)) {
workspace.releaseConnection();
}the first problem was that the CS began to complain that a transaction was started within another transaction. So I suspect that the 10gR35 update wrapped a transaction around a workflow script entry.
With some decompiling I figured out how a service is called from iDoc with the <$executeService()$> command. So I replaced the code above with:
String cmd = binder.getLocal("IdcService");
ServiceData serviceData = ServiceManager.getFullService(cmd);
if (serviceData == null) throw new DataException(LocaleUtils.encodeMessage("!csNoServiceDefined", null, cmd));
Workspace workspace = CommonUtils.getSystemWorkspace();
Service service = ServiceManager.createService(serviceData.m_classID, workspace, null, binder, serviceData);
UserData fullUserData = CommonUtils.getFullUserData(userName, service);
service.setUserData(fullUserData);
binder.m_environment.put("REMOTE_USER", userName);
service.initDelegatedObjects();
service.executeSafeServiceInNewContext(cmd, true);This solved the transaction problem but introduces another problem: !csUnableToResubmitItem,(null)!csIllegalScriptAccess,RESUBMIT_FOR_CONVERSION
The Service Reference Guide says that the access level for RESUBMIT_FOR_CONVERION is 33 (Read, Scriptable). However, in shared/config/resources/std_services.htm the access level is specified as 2 (write).
Thus, my question still is:
What is the best method to call a standard Content Server service from any Java code (so without extending the Service class, or having the m_service object available)?

This is not actually a Workflow component, this is part of the Oracle Warehouse Builder product, although the name is similar to the Workflow Agent Listener in v2.6.
I have registered jobs with OEM using Warehouse builder workflow deployment
wizard. Following jobs has been registerd with OEM :
1) ACRM_IWF_ACRM_PWF
2)ACRM_IWF_OWB_STD_BEGIN
3) ACRM_IWF_OWB_STD_END
4) ACRM_IWF_OWB_STD_ERROR
Now i submit "ACRM_IWF_ACRM_PWF" from the OEM . I shows me status of the JOB as
"Failed" and gives the following error message:
Error in starting workflow listener: ** Initializing queue listener
** Initialized queue listener
** Recovering item type ACRM_IWF
** In recovery mode
** Recovery complete
