  • Training New ABAP Team Members

    Hi All -
Will be required to identify training for ABAP team members for fresh install of ECC/BI NW2004s (EP and XI out of scope for Phase I).  Is the content of these intro/intermediate courses (E.g. BC400, BC405, BC411,...)now drastically altered to the current release of NW2004s, or, as I have experienced in the past, is the change in these courses to consider NW2004s technology minor compared to the same courses as presented when current to say 4.6C?  I.e. is the incremental change in course content for the intro/intermediate level ABAP courses vast between the releases or rather minor?  Also, would the current version of these courses actually present NW2004s (AS 6.40) material?
Additionally, comments on best approaches to training new ABAP developers appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Pat

Your newbies really need to understand the system structure(3 teired)  what each part does and how they interact,  then move on to the development environment,  they need to understand the objects, what is a report, a module pool, a function module, a class, a method, etc.  They need to know the data dictionary and what that is all about.  Now comes the syntax,  data declarations, types, select statements, write statements, etc.  Then  start them off writing a simple program using the flight db. Selecting data and writing it out.  At the end of all of this "in house" training, you will be able to see who is going to take it and run with it(meaning who is going to be able to figure all of this out on his own) and who is going to struggle and need to take these basic courses.
You can save a little money on those who are picking it up on there own.  Of course they may not like not being able to go for training.

  • Intelligroup Training for ABAP Developers

    Hello All,
My company is looking into the possibility of a company called Intelligroup comming in to train our ABAP developers.  Does anybody have any experience with Intelligroup?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Ofcourse you can go with that one.  Intelligroup is in SAP practice for a long time. Infact it  has started SAP Practice quite earlier than few big companies.

  • Start BPM process from ABAP report. Need some investigations.

    Hi there!
I have to start a BPM process from ABAP report. I found an article http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/10d75b45-7fef-2b10-bc8e-c6012e0a9457?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true and have done everything it describes but the process doesn't start.
    What I've done:
    1) Created a service proxy in SE80.
    2) Created a logical port in SOAMANAGER.
    3) Write a code to start a WebService in ABAP Report.
But when I start a program nothing happens, no errors.
    What analysis I did:
    1) See logs and traces in SOAMANAGER - there is nothing appears after I start the report.
    2) Tried to test connection to my WebService in SM59 - the connection works, but it use a POST method instead of GET:
Error: com.sap.engine.services.webservices.espbase.server.additions.wsa.WSAddressingException: com.sap.SOA.wsr.030104 - Expected request method POST. Found GET.
But I think it is OK and from the report it use a right method.
    3) Tried to delete a logical port - the error of communication problem appears. So it means that all settings are right.
    4) No logs in NWA logs
My thoughts - if there is not any errors and no result, it can be because the user authorization. E.g. it tried to start a process by a user who doesn't have SAP_BPM_SuperAdmin role. But I can't find a way how to check what really happens. So I want to ask for a help, colleagues:).

    Dear Kirill Zhuklinets,
Can you share your solution as i am facing the same error while trying to consume BPM webservice from SRM ECC
Error Message from SRM ECC :
Exception occurred in communication framework:Error in HTTP Framework:405Method Not Allowed
    Log from BPM Web service
    Error: process()
    [EXCEPTION]
com.sap.engine.interfaces.webservices.runtime.RuntimeProcessException: com.sap.engine.services.webservices.espbase.server.additions.wsa.WSAddressingException: com.sap.SOA.wsr.030104 - Expected request method POST. Found GET.
    Please share your solution..

  • Weblogic Server self-training resources

Could anyone point me in the direction some good self-training resources (books, CBT's, etc.) for Weblogic Server - preferably 8.1? We're getting our feet wet with a third-party app that incorporates Weblogic Server 8.1, but we have no experience with it.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

  • How to disable automatic start of SAP NetWeaver ABAP trial in Windows XP

    Hello experts,
please, how is it possible to disable automatic start of SAP NetWeaver ABAP in Windows XP after windows startup?
    Thank you,
    Ondrej

Right-click on "My Computer", and choose Manage.  Open the "Services and Applications" node on the tree structure on the left, double-click on "Services".  Find the service called  MAXDB:NSP  Right-click on this and change the startup type to "Manual".  Click "Apply", then "Ok".  Then go to the service labeled as SAPNSP_00 and do the same thing, setting it to manual.  That should be it.  These services will then be starting only when starting the system via the MMC

  • Self Training Product

    Hi there,
I would like to get certified as SAP Consultant and Im pretty use to work by myself taking some self training course. Now I was looking for SAP self training course & I found a web site http://erpselftraining.com/produit_detail.php?id=72 , this web site offer a self training material but based on SAP Business One 6.50.
My first question is if somebody got those material & ask for a feedback and then the second question if there are a big difference from the ver. 6.50 and the 2005A PL 43.
The last question is where I can find material to prepare by myself for the exam as SAP Consultant
Thanx in advance for any answer
    Cheers
    Roberto

    Hi,
Here is the link to know about certification preparation and training:
    https://websmp108.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000694147&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000183&_ADDINC=011000358700001192682007E&
For your 1st question, I think delta training and material for SAP B1 2004A and 2005A are what to need to find the different between 6.5 and 2004A and also 2005A.
The second question, there are a lot of different. As I can see in the delta training material.
Just look for the pdf file i.e. solution in brief, solution in details, factsheet and highlight ppt file in the link or service.sap.com/smb --> solution --> SAP business one

Before you burn your cash for certification course…..
What I suggest you … ... first thing you
need to do is to join a course in any small institute in
    “UNIVERSITY OF AMEERPET”… …..wondering …. from where
this university has born???????…. don’t worry... This is
    NOT really a university… just kidding…
There is a place called “AMEERPET” in “HYDERABAD”

How can I prepare for the exams?
Concept is tested. If you understand the concept, you have a better chance of answering the question than trying to remember the actual bullet points in the academy course material.
Use the online help to find and review the concepts covered in the certification course material. The information in the online help is presented in a different format to the course material and will therefore solidify the concepts presented. You will be much better prepared to answer the questions regardless of how the question may be worded. This really works.
How many levels will the exam will be conducted?
The certification exam is conducted in three levels, associate, principal and master. If you are a first timer then go with associate level, and there aftre gaining experience you can enhance your career with other levels of exam.
    the pass %age is 70
    Certification duration: 3 hours
    Number of certification questions: 80
You cannot go for all three levels at the same time.It depends upon your work experience, which one will be suitable for you.
You can contact genovate or siemens which are SAP education parteners, and they are based throughout the country(India).

    Hi Kishore,
first of all, there's probably a problem with server0. Generally it should come up automatically. And one can see JCONTROL and DISPATCHER, so there must be some problem with SERVER0. This could be a timeout for instance. One has to check dev_server0 and std_server0 files.
However, you can of course start/stop the Java part independently from ABAP using the transaction SMICM. That's the official way. You should be able to use "soft shutdown with restart" if you just want to restart the Java stack. If you have doubts that this process went fine, trigger a "soft shutdown without restart" and wait until all java processes are gone (JCONTROL, DISPATCHER, SERVER<number>'s and SDM). Then use "Restart Yes" to trigger a new start.
But, as I said, there's probably some issue in server0...
    Best regards,
    Christoph

    Hi,
Please provide the full log entries of server0_out.log.
You can access UME service properties in config tool by following this path..
    Global server configuration -> services -> com.sap.security.core.ume.service
There you can set the following settings for new client 900 (it u want to change it)
    ume.r3.connection.master.client
    ume.r3.connection.master.user
    ume.r3.connection.master.passwd
Refer this [useful link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/45/1bbdccc7850064e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm] to get more detailed information. Refer [Config Tool actviities|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/c0a3d713-5ab6-2c10-ddb1-e7487bc33384?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true]  link To get more information.
Also, Make sure that the Users J2EE_GUEST, J2EE_ADMIN, SAPJSF ABAP Users exist in the ABAP client (i.e. client number as mentioned in ume.r3.connection.master.client ) and they are not locked. All the required roles need to be assigned properly.

  • Self Training in SQL Server

    Hi All,
Is there a way to train myself in the SQL server?. If yes, can anyone please tell me what to do.
    Regards,
    Harish

    Hi Harish,
I echo all the recommendations you have been given so far. All the recommendations you have been given have different strengths meaning the different recommendations compliment each other and are not either/ or choices.
You've not mentioned which version of SQL Server you need to get trained up in. I recommend that you focus on SQL 2005 and SQL 2008. Most live systems out there (certainly in the UK are running SQL 2005), most managers who line manage SQL Server professionals are
aware of some of the advantges of upgrading to SQL 2008 such as improved Business Intelligence support. However I find when moving from client to client site that there is too much fear based on the past experience of migrating from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005,
where in fact there is much less effort involved in migrating from SQL 2005 to SQL 2008. The end result is there will be live SQL 2005 systems out there for a while.
Decide which SQL Server job role emphasis you want to specialise in there are 3; - Database Administrator, Database Developer and Business Intelligence Developer (skill sets between these 3 roles over lap).
    I recommend chipping away at
Certification the following is the first one for an SQL Developer; -
MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-433): Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Database Development ; -
    http://www.amazon.com/MCTS-Self-Paced-Training-Exam-70-433/dp/0735626391/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1277577799&sr=1-4
(this is much more than a book which of course covers all the basics such as stored procedures and much more)
Purchase a copy of the developer's edition to put on your personal laptop; - SQL Server 2008, Developer Edition; -
    http://www.amazon.com/SQL-Server-2008-Developer-Edition/dp/B001B8EZR4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=software&qid=1277577956&sr=1-1
    Install AdventureWorks 2008R2 RTM; -
    http://msftdbprodsamples.codeplex.com/releases/view/45907

    I hope the above helps,

  • String "starts with" function in ABAP

    Hi!
I need to check in ABAP, if a given profit center (char 10) starts with P172. It could be filled with zeros -> 0000P17255. So I need to perform 2 actions:
    1)
    Lefttrim the 0 -> Result: P17255.
    2)
Check, if the string starts with P172.
How can I do this in ABAP?
    Thanks,
    Konrad

    Hi,
You can do as below :
    1st scenario :
    loop at itab.
"Below code will delete leading zero.
SHIFT itab-prctr LEFT DELETING LEADING '0'.
    "Second scenario
    if itab-prctr(4) = 'P1972'.
"Do necessary coding as per your requirment.
    endif.
"If you wnat chnage tje contensts of the itab you can use modify else you append to append to another internal table.
    endloop.
    Thanks,
