Startup error:error 1157,1110

Question

Oracle 8 on linux:
My Oracle server used to work fine.Then this computer crashed
(for some other reason).After rebooting the system,I tried to
startup oracle but this is what I get :
SVRMGR> startup
ORACLE instance started.
Total System Global Area 4754704 bytes
Fixed Size 48400 bytes
Variable Size 4222976 bytes
Database Buffers 409600 bytes
Redo Buffers 73728 bytes
Database mounted.
ORA-01157: cannot identify data file 6 - file not found
ORA-01110: data file 6: '/main/u02/oradata/test/df1.dat'
'test' directory and it's files were removed long time ago,but
oracle still sees them(they still exist in v$datafile).Is there
anyway to get around this?

Since the file doesn't exist, but the Oracle database still
thinks it does, you might have to rebuild the control files.
Try these steps:
1. In server manager, execute the following:
svrmgrl> alter database backup controlfile to trace;
2. Go the the trace directory. This directory is specified by
the init parameter BACKGROUND_DUMP_DEST and find the file
containing the contents of the previous command. /> ls -lrt
will give you the most recent trace files first. The trace file
will be named like ora00380.trc. This file you are look
for will have the contents similar to the following:
Dump file e:\ORANT\RDBMS73\trace\ORA00280.TRC

3. Remove all of the lines before STARTUP NOMOUNT and all of
the references to the missing Oracle file(s), then save it as
$ORACLE_HOME/admin/scripts/rebuild_Control.sql ( or where ever
you want).
4. Shutdown the database ( immediate).
5. Backup the original control files. Back up everything if
you like in case of a major disaster.
6. Go back to server manager:
svrmgrl> connect internal;
svrmgrl> @rebuild_Control.sql
