States of EJB in replication mode

During in memory replication in a cluster, is the replicated EJB active? Is the
replicated EJB in the "Passivate" State, "Active" State or "Bean not in existence"
State?
Appreciate your prompt response. Thank you.

As far as I know it is in passive state on the secondary.

• How to deploy JSP as EJB in Remote Mode

Hello:
I used JDeveloper and BC4J to create a JSP web site.
When I was running the JSP creation wizard, there is a option let me to selete run the JSP at "Remote Mode" or "Local Mode".
When I selected to run at "Local Mode", after I deloyed the JSP to 9iAS, it works fine.
But when I selected to run at "Remote Mode" and deployed the application module as EJB session bean, there is a RunTimeException occurs, the error likes "The applicaiton module can not be instanced".
I saw the JSP config file, it just a little different.
In Local Mode:
config name = XXXX.XXXXXX.XXXXXX.AppModuleLocal
password = xxxxxx
In Remote Mode:
config name = XXXX.XXXXXX.XXXXXX.AppModuleEJB
password = xxxxxx
I read the web page about deploy JSP to 9iAS: http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/jdev/technotes/JSP/Deployment.html
but the page seems just show that deploy JSP in the local mode.
Can you give me the complete procedure to deploy JSP application as EJB in Remote Mode?
Thank you!

HI Welcome to J2ee...
I am also new to this...But i ll share my ideas with you...
In EJB 3.0 No need of any Deployment Descriptors....
And If you are using Eclipse You can Deploy(as jar) using Export in File tab...
XDoclet is not mandatory...

Looks like the single quotes around Frozen are not ascii single quotes. They seem to be a copy paste job from MSWord.
It should be 'Frozen' and then you shouldnt have that issue

• Maintaing state with ejb web services

Hello,
I understand there are no straight way to maintain state with ejb web services. Basically I have a stateful session bean and I would like to maintain state across requests. What is the best/cleanest architecture I can use in order to maintain state with web services?
Any reply appreciated,

• State Diagram "Single Step" execution mode

Hello,
I am realtively new to LabView, at least the 8.0 version I am currently using. Used it when it first came out some xx years ago :-)
I am using the State Diagram Toolkit to create a test vi. I am able to create a SubVI of the test vi. I did **not** have to unlock the generated code to do this, and I could still open the subvi diagram in the State Editor later.
However, if I in the State Diagram Editor select "Execution Mode" to "Single Step", then LabView 8.0 crashes when I save the vi.
Please help me on this one, as I would like to explore using subvi's developed using the State Diagram Toolkit and the Single Step execution mode.
(I have indeed searched without finding the solutiion to this problem)
Also, if anyone have an examples on how to use a "Single Step" subvi developed with the State Editor Toolkit, I would appreciate this !
(Especially how to return the next state from the subvi and use it in the next call)
Tips and examples appreciated !

Hi,
A work around has been found for the issue. If after changing the state diagram type to single-step, you make a change to the block diagram then you can save with out a problem. There are two easy ways of doing this.
1. One is to add a new state to the state chart after changing the mode (this can be deleted after the save).
2. The other is adding a Boolean constant to the block diagram (which can also be deleted after the save). Adding a control on the front panel or moving a label in the block diagram is not enough.

• Error deploying Bean with EJB QL statement in ejb-jar.xml

Hi,
I'm using Oracle iAS 9i Rev:9.03.
I've tried to deploy a Entity Bean with the following EJB QL Query:
</cmp-field>
<query>
<query-method>
<method-name>findByProcessStep</method-name>
<method-params>
<method-param>java.lang.Integer</method-param>
<method-param>java.lang.Integer</method-param>
</method-params>
</query-method>
<ejb-ql>SELECT OBJECT(p) FROM Processparameter AS p WHERE p.stepid=?1 AND p.stepversion=?2</ejb-ql>
</query>
</entity>
Without the query statement everything works fine. As soon as I include it I get the following Error message from dcmctl:
ADMN-300075
Nested exception
Base Exception:
java.rmi.RemoteException:Failure to initialize EJBQL descriptors: java.lang.RuntimeException: No method found for XML query element: Ambiguous or invalid <query-method>
Is this an Oracle iAS error or is there an error in my query?
Thanks in advance
Jens

• About state in ejbs

where does a stateful session bean holds its state between method calls? I have read it in book as application variables. stateless session beans also have application variables then why dont they maintain state?

Hi
Stateful session beans store the bean status into persistent files. and retrive them back into the bean whenever required,.
In of of the ejb-jar.xml files we mention the pstoredirectory name .
The data willl get stored into this folder

I upgraded to 7.0.4 on my iphone 4s and now it isn't working and itunes states that it is in recovery mode - help - I don't want to do a factory restore!!!!

If you're phone is in recovery mode, then all your data is already wiped off. you'll need to proceed if you want to use your phone.
However after it is done recovering, you can restore back from your backp.
You do backup on a regular basis right?

• Electronic Bank Statement Redirect postings using Account Mod

We wish to redirect postings using the same bank transaction to various bank subaccounts depending on the contents of the note to payee field. We set up the search string and the search string use with a target of account modification. The account symbol refers to the name of the account modification and so does the search string. We are successful in getting a hit using the search string simulation model hit and mapped hit appear as expected. However during the import of FF_5 there is no posting and the following message is rec'd "internal transaction za60: Account symbol in account assignment is not replaceable
Any experience getting postings to various accounts based on note to payee greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes that is correct. For bank code 108 we are getting Visa, MasterCard or Amex deposits. We wish to redirect to a dif account depeding on which one is noted in the note to Payee - the first 3 characters are either MC, VSA or AME so based on that we want to call the account mod. Thanks for your assistance.

• Backup while database are running in replication mode

We have to devise the stratgey for backup and restore of database which are involed into repliation e.g. master database and snapshot database

I am sorry, but all of the iPad content is gone now. With no backup, there is no way to retrieve anything. You cannot backup now either. Use recovery mode, restore your iPad and download your content again and start all over. You have no choice.

• Removing statful session EJBs without passivation

We're currently migrating a legacy application to SJSAS 7 from Iplanet. We have no requirement for passivation within this application, just bean removal after a period of idle time.
My question is: Can a deployment be configured so that stateful sessions beans are removed from a bean pool without first being passivation. If so, what are the deployment descriptor values.
Thanks in advance.

Hi
The SunONE product does allow a modicum of configuration of how stateful session beans are passivated and/or timed out but, in my view, it would be a bad idea to rely on this to get the correct functionality in the application. Why? Because the EJB Spec does not mandate any particular policy, and therefore anything that isn't pinned down by the Spec is liable to change from one revision of the product to the next.
The rule, according the Spec, is that containers are allowed to render elligible for garbage collection any stateful session bean that is believed to be idle. The definition of `idle' varies from product to product, of course, but is usually based on timing the intervals between client calls. This process -- getting rid of unused instances -- is a time-out, not a passivation. In general time-out and passivation are totally different mechanisms. The purpose of passivation is to remove from memory temporarily sufficient instances to prevent over-usage of memory. The purpose of the time-out is to remove from memory permanently any instances that are idle.
With the SunONE product, you can be sure that a instance of the implementation class that has not been accessed for longer than the set timeout period will be disposed of (that is, made available for GC). What you can't guarantee is that ejbRemove() will be called. The fact that ejbRemove() is not called is not any indication that instances are being left idle -- according to the EJB Spec, the container must not call ejbRemove() on an instance that has been passivated.
The reason for this is that un-passivating an instance is an expensive operation, and it is hopelessly wasteful to perform this operation simply to tell the EJB that it is being deleted. The consequence of this design decision is that you can't rely on ejbRemove() ever being called. If the timeout period is reached and the instance happens to be passivated (and this is not generally predictable, on any EJB product), then you won't get a call to ejbRemove(). If the instance is active, you will get a call to ejbRemove(). But I want to stress that the absence of ejbRemove() calls is not an indicator that instances have not been tidied up.
Best wishes
Kevin
