Static Page Caching WAS 5

We have a need for caching a static page at server side so that it can be utilized by the client and also by a service being called by other processes. The data in the static page rarely changes but if it does there needs to be a mechanism to update it and then serve the requests with the updated data.
I have seen various approches of WAS plugin (ESI) and also File Server Enabler but I am looking for a more optimized approach involving less administrative work.

Report (not Page) caching to improve report loading times

We are trying out Cystal Reports Server 2008 as a replacement for Crystal Reports CR XI R2 for an ASP.NET Web Application. Running some tests we found that the same report loaded from the server was far slower than loading the same report locally, using the CRXI SDK.
Being the Clone/Refresh strategy on the standalone SDK several times faster than the reportAppFactory.OpenDocument on the server platform, i think that the server is loading from scratch the report each time I execute the OpenDocument method. So what I am seraching for is, Is there a way to setup or tweak report caching on Crystal Server 2008? What I need is not page caching, but the whole report, which is used different databases each time it's executed (implying different data for each execution).
Some insight on the problem:
As I posted on a previous thread we are moving from CR XI due to a limit on the number of active instances suported by the SDK (74 instances). We reach this limit because of a workaround for improving report execution times, leaving instances of each report active, so the next execution just recicles the active instance, greatly reducing the overall process time. Therefor introducing Crystal Server is a setback on this module (due to it's actual performance).
Part of the problem resides on the complexity of the report. Using the standalone SDK the report takes several seconds to load from disk, and several seconds to execute. Regretably, we are not at liberty to change the reports' structure, so optimizing it is beyond posibility for now.

This might be possible using the advanced print server configuration, with BI Publisher, using the same technique that is being used to print master-details reports (which is a type of a multi-region report) - http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html . The standard print server configuration only supports reports with a single region. If you have BIP in your organization, that’s great. Otherwise, CSV files don’t warrant it.
The only other option, I can see, is to create the CSV file manually, using the technique described in the following Blog entry, by Scott Spendolini - http://spendolini.blogspot.com/2006/04/custom-export-to-csv.html .

PE12: possible to incude a static page at start of video?

Is there a way to include a static page (one that will remain visible until the viewer clicks something else) at the start of a video in PE12?
You see this in some videos - a menu button to a page with notes, or a "read me first" type of page that has no time limit (just as the menu has no time limit).

If one is going to produce a DVD-Video as the final delivery, the only allowed Transcoding is MPEG-2 DVD, for that DVD-Video. Regardless what one feeds the authoring program, it will be Transcoded to MPEG-2 DVD, and will then be wrapped into a VOB (Video Object) file, or files.
Now, that MPEG-2 DVD is an older format, and there are newer and better CODEC's available now. However, MPEG-2 DVD was what was agreed upon for DVD-Video, when it was developed. It is a much older format now, but is locked in by the DVD-Video specs.. The only options are to either burn an HD Timeline to BD (Blu-ray Disc), or create an AVCHD Disc, which is sort of like BD, but with differences, and will only be playable via a BD player.
I *believe* that DVD Architect wants an MPEG-2 DVD file, to author. I do not know how well, or even IF it can ingest an HD file, say MP4 w/ H.264, and down-rez that file, for final authoring to a DVD-Video. Even if it can, I would caution against introducing an extra level of compression, into the mix. H.264, while very good, IS a compressed CODEC. Something is always lost, when compressing Video with a lossey format - each generation of lossey compression will reduce quality.
Now, I have no doubt that an MP4 from a Timeline, is better than the older MPEG-2 DVD - but remember, that is only for the output file. If one then has to compress once more, to MPEG-2 DVD for authoring to a DVD-Video, the quality will decrease.
When I author a DVD-Video, with Adobe Encore, I have basically two choices, with one variation. I can Export a DV-AVI file, which will be Imported into Encore, which will Transcode to MPEG-2 DVD automatically - doing a very good job. A variation of that woudl be to use that same DV-AVI in Encore, and manually set the Transcoding myself. I could also Export an MPEG-2 DVD, taking many things into consideration (using Bit Budgeting), and then Import that MPEG-2 DVD into Encore, where it will not need to be Transcoded again. Another variation is that with one of the Adobe Suites, I can dynamically link my Timeline from PrPro to Encore, where Encore will do the Transcoding of that Timeline. I do not need to Export anything. All of those workflows will basically yield the same DVD-Video. *

There are several "better" Encoders, that range from a couple $100, all the way up to the Encoder software, that Hollywood uses, that cost $100,000's, and are run by experts, who do nothing but Encode for DVD-Video, all day long. Such software will allow many passes, in the Encoding process, where with other software, they likely only have the option to do a 1-pass, or 2-pass Encoding. That is one reason that a commercial DVD-Video can look so good - especially with high motion material. A 10-pass Encoding, in the hands of an expert, can do so much more, than we mere mortals.

Error reading data from static cursor cache.

Does anyone know what causes this error below. It just started happening out of the blue. I'm running Apache Tomcat 4.1 on Win 2000 server with MS SQL Server 2000 database.

hi,
i had a similar sort of error, something along the lines of "error setting up static cursor cache" using the SQL JDBC drivers on Win2K. i deleted the file entries in the TEMP folder of c:\documents and settings\<user>\Local Settings\TEMP and everything was cool after it. i'm not sure what the exact issue is (probably something like maximum folder size had been reached). i ran the FileMon utility from www.sysinternals.com and it reported a DISK_FULL error on a temporary file being read by the process. to cut a long story short, everything is NOW cool.

Save does not work in static pages

I can create the static pages but I cannot add text to the TEXT part of the tab. The changes to GENERAL and the INDEXING however get saved.
I tried multiple lines, and various other combinations to overcome this but to no effect.

Hi Mike,
What version of webtools are you using and what browser are you using?
I just tested this on my system and encountered the same problem as you using Firefox, but was able to enter text normally using Internet Explorer.
Currently Internet Explorer is the only supported browser for the administration side of things although I use Firefox quite frequently.

Newest update won't allow startup page to be blank, it loads to the last page Firefox was on, so how do I fix this?

Since the most recent update, every time I open Firefox, it loads to the last page I was on. I prefer a blank page to be loaded. I have this correctly marked in the options, and I've even uninstalled and reinstalled the program. Is there a fix for this?

Firefox 9 stalls when loading static pages, how do I fix it?

Windows 7 Firefox 9 beta worked fine up to about three days ago, now stalls loading static pages. Seems like Foxnews sites in particular. Have cleared caches and cookies. disabled realplayer with limited improvement

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

Both Mail and Safari have Activity Options that open a screen that shows you just how the site or mail is loading.
In Safari if you are having trouble with a site in activity you will see the count of items being downloaded - and if an error occurs it shows red.
On the top is the number of items it is loading or trying to load and the count should be increasing. If the count stops, and you don't have errors it may be that too many people are going after the same site and your request just timed out. Have had the time out on a news site when trying to load a most popular article.

Do you have backups of all the data on the startup drive? If not, do nothing else until you've backed up that data, if you still can.

Automatic MOLAP cube : Proactive caching was cancelled because newer data became available

When I process the cube manually after processing Dimension, It works fine. But when I append data into database column, It performs proactive caching, at that time it fails.
Sometimes: It does not get key attribute because measure gets processed before dimension
and sometimes it gives error:

201401 2' was being processed. Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred while the 'MSW' attribute of the 'call dim Monthly 201401 2' dimension from the 'callAnalysisProject' database was being processed. etc....

I have also seen this error occur in other scenarios.
In the first if you have set Pro-Active caching to refresh every 1 minute and your query takes 2 minutes to refresh the error above can be displayed. Solution increase your refresh time or tune your Pro-Active caching query.
In connection with the above if your server is limited on available resources this can also cause the slower query response times during refresh and the message above.

my name is kapil and i am trying to open one (which is downloded) pdf document.which giving me an error as there was an error processing a page. there was a problem reading this document (110) for some page only. i am using acrobat reader x. is it any 3d setting or any thing else please give me an idea. i am waiting for replay as soon as possible...........

When I encountered an error "there was a problem reading this document 110" in Acrobat Pro 11 on 28.7 MB CS6 file, it indeed was very frustrating.
I solved my problem, but since I don't know which step benefitted me, I've to enumerate all the steps I took:
Read below:
1.1. I could copy the file anywhere on the drive, but couldn't 'save as' from Acrobat Pro.
1.2. No document security was applied of any sort on the file.
1.3. Still in the first tab of the document properties, all details under advance section were empty. No 'PDF Version' 'location' 'file size' etc were populated. Nothing.
1.4. I couldn't change and save anything in any of property dialogue. I could comment on the text, but as soon as I tried to save, it gave an error (some sort of 'File reading' error).
1.5. When I tried to extract a page (I tried many), it gave 'reading error'.
1.6. I didn't try 'splitting error'. Since I was 100% sure, it'll give me same reading error.
1.7. I opened the file in Firefox and tried saving it as pdf from there. But no error, but no save either.
1.8. I ran 'Remove Hidden Information' from protection panel without any errors.
1.9. I tried 'sanitize document' from the same tab, but didn't succeed.
1.10. Then (here I think the problem was resolved), from Document Processing panel, I did some commands. 1st, 'Export all images', successfully. Then 'Remove all links', it found 0.
1.11. Then in 'print production' panel, I clicked/tried to open acrobat distiller. The same opened, did some processing. But I don't know if it did something in solving the problem or not.
1.12. Although I think my problem was resolved till now, but the last step I did was 'Saved As' the file (from the file menu) as a .ps file. Though I've not yet reopened/used that ps file (to convert it into a pdf file again). But around here I wanted to close the file and it asked me whether I wanted to save the file, I said yes. And it saved the file correctly. And I checked that in properties dialogue, the missing information was populated too.
1.13. Sorry for so lengthy instructions, but I had no choice.

Open tabs that go unused for a few minutes no longer work and cause me to lose the page it was on.

I like to keep many tabs open at all times, and recently Firefox has started messing up my tabs whereas I've never had a problem with this before. I believe it started after the latest Firefox update.
As mentioned above, if a tab stays open but unused for a few minutes while working in other tabs, the site's logo next to the page's title (such as Amazon's "a" logo with the arrow under it next to "Your Orders" for example) gets replaced with the spinning green ring that usually indicates loading, but it spins much faster than it does when it's actually loading something. When you click on the tab to open it again, it is simply a blank tab and I'm forced to manually hunt down the page I was on again. However, when I log off my computer or restart it while the tabs have the spinning green rings on them, the next time I open Firefox after logging back in to my computer, it opens all the correct pages and tabs, but only if I didn't click on/open any of the tabs while they had the spinning green ring, thus rendering them back to blank tabs. If I click on a tab with the spinning green ring (rendering it blank) and then log off/restart and open Firefox again upon logging back in to my computer, Firefox will have indeed lost that page's information and it re-opens as a blank tab, as it was when the system logged off. To top it all off, if any tab(s) is/are doing that fast-spinning green ring glitch, it makes whatever I'm working on run slower, such as making a video lag that I'm watching on Youtube. If I notice that happening I'm forced to go click on the tab (losing its data in the process) and manually go back to the page I was on again just so it will stop doing the fast-spinning green ring and I can watch my video smoothly, but this only lasts for a few minutes before those pages start the green ring glitch once again and I have to repeat the process. Another oddity of note is that this only happens to tabs I actually click on and open during each session. If I restart or log off my computer and log back in and start up Firefox again, the green ring glitch doesn't happen to any of the tabs I don't touch during my session. It only happens to tabs I actually open during that session, but it happens to every single tab that I do I open during that session.
This is getting highly irritating and it's making working in Firefox a huge hassle, as it's happening constantly. PLEASE fix this. Firefox has never done this to me before, so I don't understand why it's happening now. I haven't downloaded or installed any new plug-ins or add-ons to Firefox so I know that I've done nothing to the program to cause this.
Thank you for looking into this for me. I look forward to hearing back ASAP and finding a remedy for this problem. This glitch is driving me crazy.
