Statspack Downloads.

I attempt to download the Statspack file: 817_prod.tar. I click the link which brings me to the disclaimer page. I click all of the check boxes, and click the "I Accept" button. I am returned to the original download page without error, and no download.

The link is still broke, but I performed the following workaround:
1. Find a server with Oracle 8.1.7 installed.
2. Copy all files with names that start with "sp" from the version 8.1.7 $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin directory to the same directory on the version 8.1.6 server. All of these files do not exist is version 8.1.6, so they can be copied directly into the $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin directory without negative impact.
3. Follow the upgrade instructions in the spdoc.txt file.
4. File list follows:
spauto.sql
spcpkg.sql
spcreate.sql
spctab.sql
spcusr.sql
spdoc.txt
spdrop.sql
spdtab.sql
spdusr.sql
sppurge.sql
spreport.sql
sptrunc.sql
spuexp.par
spup816.sql

You might want to take a look at the docs: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10500_01/server.920/a96533/statspac.htm#21708
    Note:
It is not correct to specify begin and end snapshots where the begin snapshot and end snapshot were taken from different instance startups. In other words, the instance must not have been shutdown between the times that the begin and end snapshots were taken.
At the first part of the report the database id is given. Do a select * from STATS$DATABASE_INSTANCE and verify that the DBID present matches the database/instance you are attempting to run the reprot upon. The report should be ran from the same instance in which the snapshots were taken.

  • StatsPack report check

What are the imporant things to check the performance degradation in StatsPack report?

Check the performace tuning guide from Oracle.
Most common things to look at are
    Top wait events,
    Hit ratios
    Top SQLs

  • Statspack report analysis

    Hi,
How should i analyze my statspack report. what are major attributes whihc i should concentrate more in analyzing the SP report.
    Thankx.....

After checking the generic hit ratios section,
Check the top 5 wait events and most expensive SQL queries.
Oracle Performance Tuning Guide has good explanation on most common wait events.

Any good suggestion is welcome.Perhaps the first good suggestion would be that you should not be advertising your product and touting for email addresses on the OTN forum.
You might then consider that you've posted (to date) six times on the forum: three times to advertise your SPAnalyzer, and three times to ask for help with performance issues. That's not a good track record for someone who hopes to get people interested in a tool that is supposed to analyze statspack reports.

  • Error SP2-0640 when installing Statspack

    Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 . Windows.
Trying to install statspack, keep getting the same error in spctab.lis
    SP2-0640: Not connected
I have read this is a connect string issue. I have read I should run the spcreate.sql even as system instead of sys. I have unsuccessfully installed, then used the spdrop.sql to return.
I connect through SQL*Plus as this: sys/***@***** as sysdba - all on the one line.
I am able to create the perfstat user and allocate required tablespace and temp space, but when creating STATS$... tables the process fails with said error.
If I try to run later a query such as exec statspack.snap; I get this error
PLS-00201: identifier 'STATSPACK.SNAP' must be declared
    Sources used:
    http://www.akadia.com/services/ora_statspack_survival_guide.html
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/server.920/a96533/statspac.htm#21605
I read that one should run the three scripts individually:
    spcusr.sql as sysdba
    spctab.sql and spckg.sql as perfstat
    Thanks.

    sqlplus sys/***@*** as sysdba
    has never worked on Windows
It should be sqlplus "sys/***@** as sysdba"
The first document you claim to have read actually does use the double quotes.
Posting an error message without context in this case is vague.
The PLS-00201 demonstrates statspack doesn't exist in the user PERFSTAT.
As you are calling an Ascii script, issues with a readable script usually can be resolved by reading the script.
When I read the script my conclusion is you never created the PERFSTAT user.
In either case, if you don't post spcusr.lis nor spctab.lis, I can only recommend you troubleshoot this yourself. It is not that difficult and you could actually learn something.

  • Application download slow down

Downloading Free apps one at a time isn't an issue, but try 2 or more is a difficulty. My problem now is there are 3 apps are sitting there, partial downloaded, waiting, but it's not moving. I'd like to remove these apps, but tapping them doesn't make them respond. The icons are in grey. I've run restore, powercycle, anyone with a solution how to cancel & remove them. I'll stick to downloading one app at a time.

  • Statspack Tables

    Hi All,
How to identify whether STATSPACK is configured or not in 8x DB (thru an SQL)?
We use the following tables for the purpose mentioned next to it in 9x.
    stats$snapshot -- Snapshot Details
stats$sql_summary - Statistics of SQL executed during a snap
    stats$sqltext - SQL text executed
    sTAtS$SYSTEM_EVENT - System events during a snap
    STATS$FILESTATXS - I/O Stats during a snap
But what are equivalent tables from where we can find the similar information in 8x?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Jaggyam

You need probably to check if there's a PERFSTAT user/schema and what objects are owned by it.
" STATSPACK differs from the existing UTLBSTAT/UTLESTAT performance scripts in the following ways:
    * They collect more data, including high resource SQL.
    * Many of the manual calculations which were required with BSTAT/ESTAT are now provided; for example. the first page contains a summary of instance performance and load.
    * Permanent tables are created. Each time a new "snapshot" of data is taken, it is added to these tables, with keys which allow comparison between snapshots.
    * A new user, PERFSTAT, is automatically created. All objects created by this package are owned by PERFSTAT. This user has limited query-only privileges.
    * Written in PL/SQL and uses SQL*Plus as the reporting tool.
Like UTLBSTAT.SQL and UTLESTAT.SQL, STATSPACK can be found in the ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/ directory on UNIX and in the ORACLE_HOME/rdbms81/admin directory on NT. "

Thanks in advance.by default , the spauto.sql script will setup snapshot collection jobs to run every hour, on the hour. you can change the frequency of hte snapshot statistic collection period by editing the spauto.sql script. after making changes, re-execute the script spauto.sql will cause statistic collection to occur on the schedule you specified.
the location of spauto.sql script in unix $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/sqpauto.sql, windows %ORACLE_HOME%\rdbms\admin\spauto.sql
