Stereo vision using 2 sync'd ps3 eye

Hello too the whole forum!
I'm new to archlinux and i've been trying to make use of a synchronized pair of ps3 eye webcams. The hardware has been confirmed to be synchronized but i've been unable to make that usefull on the software side. I'm using OpenCV libraries, programming in python and have tried, unsuccessfully, to use the mkoval solution ( https://github.com/mkoval/stereo_webcam ).
Has any of you had any experience with it? If so, what have you done to make it work?

You can do this under the same computer login account or with another computer login account.
Doing this under the same computer login account will require having to log in and out of each iTunes library depending on which one you want to use for syncing, etc.

One way is probably not faster than the other.
How about making use of iTunes playlists with one iTunes library? There is no rule that your entire iTunes library must be transferred to an iPod or iOS device.

Stereo vision using commercial DSLR

Hi. I'm a Phd student in CE.
I'm going to build stereographic equipment setup using two comercial dslr cameras and labveiw.
The specific application is accurate target position estimation using stereoscopic (stereo vision system).
I know there are SDK package in Nikon and Canon for controling camera with computer. However, they don't provide multi-camera control solution so it is hard to construct it. Would it be possible to control cameras using Labview? Here, "control" means the camera control functions (such as live-viewing, zoom in/out, etc) , which are provided by commercial camera tethering software like 'Nikon Camera Control Pro 2'.
I heard that HYTEK (http://www.hytekautomation.ca/ ) made Laview VI's for Nikon cameras but I'm not sure it works for my setup or suitable for stereo vision. I hope use the software that NI provides.
Does anyone know about this topic? All suggestions/comments are welcom

you can use usb camera or gige vision camera, much chiper than DSLR, and LabVIEW support those camera, you can install Vision Acquisition Software, then the camera can be config in max, and used in LabVIEW.

Stereo Vision Calibration

Hello Everyone...
Can any one plese explain the GRID Calibration procedure for a Stero Vision Application in LabVIEW along with the following queries realted to the same.
1) Would Grid Calibration will provide the 3D Position information of a Object?
2) Is it possible to prepare a test Srereo setup for Stereo Vision using USB Cameras(WEB Cams)?
3) How to confind the Field of View of the Camera to a certain Area of e.g 100x100x100 mm ?

IPod Nano 3g no longer syncs (some) mp4 videos when they used to sync

iTunes 9.0.3.15 with iPod Nano 3g (1.1.3) on AMD Windows 7 64 bit
Videos which used to play on the iPod, no longer will sync to the ipod. They used to sync when I had Windows XP but after a disk crash and now using Windows 7 64 bit, they dont.
The videos play just fine in itunes, they just refuse to sync.
Some videos that I have do go, but there is no obvious difference between them (file names, formats, etc).
I have reset the ipod to factory.

Ok, I may seem like a noob, cos I am.
But, I did discover the 'create an iPod/iPhone' version' (right click the video file)
It creates a nice small file (about 30% of the original), in a location I cannot control and ends up showing me two identical entries in iTunes that I cannot pick the difference between without doing a 'Get Info' and looking at the filename!
Best of all, this nice small file has NO Video.
I failed to find any settings in which I could nominate the target device, after all, they all have different screen sizes, you would think I could optimise it for my devices screen size.
I even transferred the converted content (after finding it) to a real OS (linux) and mplayer spits about too many audio packets and vlc simply plays sound.
And Apple software is supposed to be user friendly...

Where is original point of Z axis in a stereo vision system?

I use LabVIEW Stereo Vision module. After I calibrate my stereo vision system, I want to verify the accuracy of my system. I can get every point`s depth in my picture, but where is my original point of Z axis?
In the newest NI Vision Concepts Help, it is written that NI Vision renders 3D information with respect to the left rectified image such that the new optical center will be at (0, 0, Z) position. Is the original point of Z axis is on the CCD of left camera or the optical center of my left camera`s lens?
So anyone can help me ?

Hello,
I would say that the coordinate system origin is at the optical centre, that is the camera's projection centre.
So, yes, the optical centre of the left camera's lense. This seems most logical to me...

Stereo vision calibration failed

Hi guys,
I'm using the Calibrate stereo vision.vi (NI Vision development module 2013) to calibrate my stereo vision system but I failed and I don't know why. My experimental setup is as follows:
2 aviator 1600gc cameras, with 16mm focal lenses and a baseline of 1 cm;
a calibration grid of 16*16 dots (dx=dy=4 cm), at a distance of 2 meters;
2 light projector of 500 W.
I followed the VI instructions and made a lot of trials for 2 days, but i never succedeed in calibration. More specific, in the grid coverage control i always obtain NaN %, as showed in the picture in the attachment.
In continued to acquire images as long as all gride coverage control below are all to 100% but the VI doesn't proceed into grid vertex calibration.
Can someone help me?

I got exactly the same problem! I hope it's okay posting in this topic.
I followed the instructions on http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370281U-01/imaqvision/stereo_vision_example/ but my top grid coverage just won't show any values.
The grid is from the NI folder, so actually it should be okay.
cams: 2x DMK 23F618 from ImagingSource
lenses: 2x 8mm F1.2
Furthermore, at most attempts I won't even get any values at all.
Even if all points are detected it won't show any values. This mostly happens when I use external light sources (tried it with infrared and a common 20W halogen lamp running on DC)

PS3 Eye camera + Facetime

Hello all,
Has anyone definitively achieved the use of a PS3 Eye camera with the FaceTime app on a mac mini. My kids want me to buy FaceTime but having only a mini can be an issue interms of Cameras. I have a PS3 eye and am hoping to repurpose it.

I don't know about FaceTime, but I definitely used to use a PS3 Eye camera with Skype OK.

I'm looking for examples for the technologies mentioned in the subject. Anyone has dealt with these? If yes, can he share an example about them?
I have found an example for Stereo Vision in Vision Development Module's help, but I'm looking for other ones, and so far no success finding any.
I would be helped out with a Light Projection example aswell.

Also, I am attaching a set of VI's (LV2012) that I used some time ago to obtain depth image from stereo image pair. They consist of three different stages:
1. Images acquisition,
2. Stereo calibration,
3. Measurements.
When there is enough (distinct) texture on the measured surface, the projector is not neccessary. But in low texture setups, it can greatly enhance the quality of the measured data. If the projector is used, take care that the pattern is as random as possible. This should give the correlation algorithm a good basis. Take a look at the following paper:

PS3 Eye in Arch

Hi there,
I'm just wondering if anyone knows how to get a PS3 Eye working in Arch. From what I've been able to find it should just work with recent kernels but mine seems to not behave as expected. When I plug it in it loads the gspca_ov534 module automatically and I can get output with mplayer tv:// but the contrast or brightness is way off.

I've had a look for module parameters as I noticed in one of the pages on it that there was an option for contrast but /sys/module/gspca_ov534/ doesn't have a folder parameters.
Does anyone have any experience or ideas?

Playing with mplayer brightness and contrast produces similar effects to with cheese (actually brightness doesn't do anything and and contrast will only change the difference between the about of white you see and the tiny amount of black it picks up), but I did notice on the mplayer output:

I tried what you said with lsmod but it still failed on fatal error: linux/autoconf.h: No such file or directory and with a bit of searching on that I found some vague reference on line that that should be generated/autoconf.h so I changed all the references to this and it seemed to get a bit further before dying:

I suspect that the source is designed to work with the Ubuntu 2.6.31 kernel judging from the guides to using it. I'm running 2.6.34-ARCH.
I found another site with a patched version of the driver that requires applying it to your kernel source and rebuilding the module. http://bear24rw.blogspot.com/2009/11/ps … patch.html so I tried following the arch Kernel Compilation From Source guide (as I've compiled from source before on Gentoo and this approach seemed most similar). However the build died when I got as far as building the patched driver. I suspect that this was because I was still using version 2.6.34, but from kernel.org, rather than downgrading to 2.6.31. This may work, I've yet to try it, as I'd much rather have an up to date kernel if possible.

How do I use Active Sync to view SharePoint Lists (Contacts and Calendars) on a Mobile Phone?

We are attempting to use SharePoint 2010 in combination with Exchange 2010 to implement shared calendars and contact lists throughout our organization. We are able to connect the lists to Outlook 2010, but have been unsuccessful in viewing
the calendars and contact lists from our mobile phones. How do we use Active Sync to view SharePoint Lists (Contacts and Calendars) on a Mobile Phone?
In trying to answer this question, we have come across a few different possibilities, all of them falling just short of a long term solution for us. After doing research, we found that Active Sync will only show the default folders of the account. To
solve this, we downloaded an Add-In for Outlook (CodeTwo FolderSync) to synchronize folders and synchronized our SharePoint list with a new Contact list in the default folder. The issue we came across with this method is that the Add-In we are using
is not capable of automatic synchronization. There is a button and it must be clicked after every update is made, which is not ideal for our solution. We then went to the company (CodeTwo) and found server side software (Exchange Sync) that they
offer which will automatically synchronize the folders. After installing that on the Exchange Server, we now are running into the issue of not being able to locate the SharePoint lists on the Exchange Server.
Does anyone happen to know how we can get to the SharePoint lists from the Exchange Server? Has anyone else been able to use shared contacts lists and calendars from SharePoint on their mobile phones using Active Sync? If so, are we in the right
direction with what we have found so far?

How do I change the Apple ID that iCloud uses to sync the iPad?

How do I change an iPad's iCloud Apple ID without deleting that entire iCloud account? When I go to Settings>iCloud on this iPad, the Apple ID email address is not an active field, so I cannot enter the new Apple ID. The iPad is currently syncing successfully using iCloud--but to my husband's account/data. I want to enter the Apple ID that my Mac uses to sync with my Mac. I see "Delete Account" below in the iPad Settings>iCloud, but I don't know what "delete" means here.

Cancel my question, please. I found the answer: delete the account, enter the new Apple ID and save data to device and merge data, and create a new account.

I used to sync my ipad on an asus laptop, now I have a Mac mini and want to sync with it. Can I? Can things be transferred from laptop to Mac mini?

I synced my ipad2 with an asus laptop. Now I have a Mac mini that I want to use for syncing and backup. But when I connected my ipad to the Mac mini it said something about the ipad being already synced to another computer and backup is permitted only one computer at a time. How can I transfer my backup to the Mac mini ? And delete my previous (I.e. asus laptop) iTunes backup system?

You don't have to delete anything from the Asus. You can copy your iTunes library from the laptop to the Mac. Read this for more information.

Add another computer
Do these steps on the computer you are trying to add to Firefox Sync.
At the top of the Firefox window, click the Firefox button and select Set Up Sync. The Firefox Sync Setup window will open.
Click I Have an Account.
Since you're not near the device with Sync already set up, click the I don't have the device with me link.
Sign in to your Sync account:
Enter your account email address
Enter your password
Enter your Recovery Key
Then click Next
You will see a Setup Complete screen. Click Finish to complete adding this device to your Sync account.
