Stereo vision using commercial DSLR

Hi. I'm a Phd student in CE.
I'm going to build stereographic equipment setup using two comercial dslr cameras and labveiw.
The specific application is accurate target position estimation using stereoscopic (stereo vision system).
I know there are SDK package in Nikon and Canon for controling camera with computer. However, they don't provide multi-camera control solution so it is hard to construct it. Would it be possible to control cameras using Labview? Here, "control" means the camera control functions (such as live-viewing, zoom in/out, etc) , which are provided by commercial camera tethering software like 'Nikon Camera Control Pro 2'.
I heard that HYTEK (http://www.hytekautomation.ca/ ) made Laview VI's for Nikon cameras but I'm not sure it works for my setup or suitable for stereo vision. I hope use the software that NI provides.
Does anyone know about this topic? All suggestions/comments are welcom

dear chulminy
you can use usb camera or gige vision camera, much chiper than DSLR, and LabVIEW support those camera, you can install Vision Acquisition Software, then the camera can be config in max, and used in LabVIEW.

  • Stereo vision using 2 sync'd ps3 eye

    Hello too the whole forum!
I'm new to archlinux and i've been trying to make use of a synchronized pair of ps3 eye webcams. The hardware has been confirmed to be synchronized but i've been unable to make that usefull on the software side. I'm using OpenCV libraries, programming in python and have tried, unsuccessfully, to use the mkoval solution ( https://github.com/mkoval/stereo_webcam ).
Has any of you had any experience with it? If so, what have you done to make it work?
Nice to find such an active comunity here!
Thank you and have a nice weekend!

You can do this under the same computer login account or with another computer login account.
Doing this under the same computer login account will require having to log in and out of each iTunes library depending on which one you want to use for syncing, etc.
Doing this under another computer login account will require having to log in and out of each computer login account depending on which one you want to use for syncing, etc, and with OS X there is fast user switching making the process of switcing between multiple computer login account fast and easy. One way is probably not faster than the other.
How about making use of iTunes playlists with one iTunes library? There is no rule that your entire iTunes library must be transferred to an iPod or iOS device.

  • Stereo Vision Calibration

    Hello Everyone...
Can any one plese explain the GRID Calibration procedure for a Stero Vision Application in LabVIEW along with the following queries realted to the same.
    1) Would Grid Calibration will provide the 3D Position information of a Object?
    2) Is it possible to  prepare a test Srereo setup for Stereo Vision using USB Cameras(WEB Cams)?
    3) How to confind the Field of View of the Camera to a certain Area of  e.g 100x100x100 mm ?
    Thanks

  • Where is original point of Z axis in a stereo vision system?

    Hello, everyone
I use LabVIEW Stereo Vision module. After I calibrate my stereo vision system, I want to verify the accuracy of my system. I can get every point`s depth in my picture, but where is my original point of Z axis?
In the newest NI Vision Concepts Help, it is written that  NI Vision renders 3D information with respect to the left rectified image such that the new optical center will be at (0, 0, Z) position. Is the original point of Z axis is on the CCD of left camera or the optical center of my left camera`s lens?
So anyone can help me ?

    Hello,
I would say that the coordinate system origin is at the optical centre, that is the camera's projection centre.
So, yes, the optical centre of the left camera's lense. This seems most logical to me...

  • Stereo vision calibration failed

    Hi guys,
I'm using the Calibrate stereo vision.vi (NI Vision development module 2013) to calibrate my stereo vision system but I failed and I don't know why. My experimental setup is as follows:
    2 aviator 1600gc cameras, with 16mm focal lenses and a baseline of 1 cm;
    a calibration grid of 16*16 dots (dx=dy=4 cm), at a distance of 2 meters;
    2 light projector of 500 W.
I followed the VI instructions and made a lot of trials for 2 days, but i never succedeed in calibration. More specific, in the grid coverage control i always obtain NaN %, as showed in the picture in the attachment.
In continued to acquire images as long as all gride coverage control below are all to 100% but the VI doesn't proceed into grid vertex calibration.
    Can someone help me?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi there,
I got exactly the same problem! I hope it's okay posting in this topic.
I followed the instructions on http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370281U-01/imaqvision/stereo_vision_example/ but my top grid coverage just won't show any values.
The grid is from the NI folder, so actually it should  be okay.
cams: 2x DMK 23F618 from ImagingSource
    lenses: 2x 8mm F1.2
Furthermore, at most attempts I won't even get any values at all.
Even if all points are detected it won't show any values. This mostly happens when I use external light sources (tried it with infrared and a common 20W halogen lamp running on DC)
I hope you can help me out here! Thanks

  • Stereo Vision and Projected Light

    Hello!
I'm looking for examples for the technologies mentioned in the subject. Anyone has dealt with these? If yes, can he share an example about them?
I have found an example for Stereo Vision in Vision Development Module's help, but I'm looking for other ones, and so far no success finding any.
I would be helped out with a Light Projection example aswell.
    Thank you!
    Solved!

    Hello,
take a look at the following discussion:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/Machine-Vision/Stereo-library-2012-pointers/m-p/2171812/highlight/true#M3672...
Also, I am attaching a set of VI's (LV2012) that I used some time ago to obtain depth image from stereo image pair. They consist of three different stages:
    1. Images acquisition,
    2. Stereo calibration,
    3. Measurements.
When there is enough (distinct) texture on the measured surface, the projector is not neccessary. But in low texture setups, it can greatly enhance the quality of the measured data. If the projector is used, take care that the pattern is as random as possible. This should give the correlation algorithm a good basis. Take a look at the following paper:
    http://www.aurelien.plyer.fr/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/ptext.pdf
About "Light Projection" - if you are referring to structured lighting techniques take a look at the following page:
    http://mesh.brown.edu/byo3d/index.html
Hope this helps you in some way.

I think this is probably a sign that your network could be better than it is.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • Using Commercial Printer Profiles in LR4

this question might belong in the color management section, but since it deals with Lightroom I'll post it here.
I am having trouble using commercial printer profiles in LR4.  I import all images as RAW files from the camera, and save them as DNG files when done editing.  Generally, the printing services I use want to see JPG files, and I am unsure how and when to apply the printer profiles as I move from a DNG to a JPG, in preparation for sending the job to the printer.
I'm sure the good folks ad Adobe have thought this through, but I'm stuck.
    Thanks!
    Jeff Zens
    Salem, OR.

I called back and spoke to a manager who let me know that the profiles are, in fact, RGB profiles.  So I believe that I should be able to print to JPEG rather than an attached printer, so long as I have the correct printer/paper combination selected in the print dialog.  Do I have this right?
    Thanks....

  • Best non-BT Router for BT Vision Use

Just a question thats been going through my head...
Was the best Non-BT Router (Not HomeHub etc...) for giving a decent connection for BT Vision use??
Im guessing it would have to support this QOS thingy..
has anyone had any positive experiences using a Non BT Router over a longish line while not getting any BT Vision C01/V04 Errors??
    JC

same as above I have used both netgear and Dlink routers with bt vision without any problems and have used a netgear router configured as an Ethernet switch (asdl and dhcp turned off ) connected to the homehub to extend the number of ports available.
i am using a white homehub at the moment simply because i want to use the hub phone

  • Stream to 2 stereos AND use internet

    Hi,
I can stream to one stereo and use the internet, but when I stream to 2 stereos the internet stops working, even on another laptop that is not doing the streaming.
    Everything is up to date.
    iTunes 4.7.2
I have a base station and a remote base station set up as a WDS. I have two other Expresses hooked to speakers and setup as music/printer only. All units are on one network.
    Any ideas?

Can you describe in a little more detail which part isn't working? For example, is the VPN not starting up when you start Firefox, or is Firefox not able to use the VPN tunnel?
If we can't solve it, here's the process to roll back:
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, download and save Firefox 3.6 to your desktop for future installation. http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-older
You could install Firefox 3.6 over Firefox 4 (many have reported success) or you could uninstall Firefox first. If you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
Unless you have installed an incompatible add-on, Firefox 3.6 should pick up where you left off. If there are serious issues, please post back with details.
Note: I haven't actually tried this myself!

  • HT4589 How do I change the audio to dual mono from stereo when using Share to DVD in Final Cut 10.1?

How do I switch the audio to Dual Mono from Stereo when using Share in Final Cut Pro 10.1? Even though the audio is all in dual mono in the timeline, it lists it as stereo in the share box.

    Hi rationale1,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The share to DVD settings in Final Cut Pro X use the Dolby Digital settings which are stereo for DVDs. So this can’t be done directly in Final Cut Pro X.
The link below will explain the Dolby Digital parameters and options in Compressor 4.   You may need to research a different DVD authoring software to achieve your desired result.
Dolby Digital - Compressor 4 User Manual
    http://help.apple.com/compressor/mac/4.1/#cpsrb71736a2
    Dolby Digital
The built-in Dolby Digital settings (in the Create Blu-ray and Create DVD destinations, as well as the built-in AC-3 and EC-3 audio settings) use the Dolby Digital transcoding format. This format encodes Dolby Digital (AC-3) and Dolby Digital Plus (EC-3) audio files that contain multiple audio channels, including 5.1 surround sound. You can also create custom settings that use the Dolby Digital transcoding format.
Note:  All files intended for video and audio DVD authoring must have a 48 kHz sample rate as required by the DVD specification.
DVD Video: Choose this option if you’re encoding for use in a DVD video authoring application.
DVD Audio: Choose this option if you’re encoding for use in a DVD audio authoring application.
Tip:  For stereo encoding, rates of 192 kbps and 224 kbps are typical and will produce good results. For Dolby Digital 5.1 encoding, a rate of 384 kbps is recommended. For 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus encoding, a rate of 192 kbps is recommended.
    Cheers,
    Judy

  • Tunes wirelessly from iPad to stereo without using the PC?

Does AirPort Express allow me to play iTunes music from iPad wirelessly to stereo without using a PC? I have a wireless network already set up.

Dropbox will work, and as long as you can live within a 2GB limit, it is free.  You only pay for dropbox (or box, sugarsync or one of the many others) if you need more than the default complementary storage space.

  • Connecting iTunes/Macmini to stereo receiver using cable

I was wondering if anyone had experience connecting their computer to stereo receiver using cable of medium length (30 - 40 feet). I have Airport Express, but want to circumvent the conversion of aiff files to Apple Lossless that seems to be hard-wired into Airtunes.
    macmini   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Yes you can hook up your mini to your stereo using the combined optical digital audio output/headphone out (minijack). On my Powerbook, I have used both my headphone jack and an iMic to connect to my A/V receiver. Remember, with an analog signal, the longer and/or thinner the cable, the more degradation you will get, but only your ears can tell you if you can hear the difference caused by that degradation on your system.
