I'm still experiencing a rootfs entry + normal root partition in a df -h even after patching my /etc/rc.sysinit as described in this thread. Are others? FYI - I believe that the initscripts package in the repo now contains the patched rc.sysinit so everyone should have the patched version referred to in the post I referenced. Is this double entry normal behavior now or am I missing something?

I just downloaded firefox 4 but still have the file/edit/view/etc of firefox 3...?

In the walkthrough of Firefox 4 it shows just one orange button where everything is kept all together, but I still have all the single buttons from Firefox 3. I tried re-downloading Firefox 4 but it didn't change it to the new version, so I'm kind of in limbo between Firefox 3 & 4. Is this just a glitch or how can I get the *full* Firefox 4?

To get it you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry.
If you need access to the menus you can press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display them.

Arch won't boot after -Syu: /etc/rc.sysinit can't execute things

Hello,
I was not getting any updates for about a week or two so I checked my mirrors and added a few more. I ran yaourt -Syu, there were 30 updates.
I shutdown my computer and when booting I got several messages saying "cannot execute binary file" from /etc/rc.sysinit.
Here is the first of such messages:
/etc/rc.sysinit: line 45: /bin/dmesg: cannot execute binary file
rtc_cmos 00:04: rtc core: registered rtc_cmos as rtc0
rtc0: alarms up to one month, y3k, 114 bytes nvram
/etc/rc.sysinit: line 84: /sbin/hwclock: cannot execute binary file
Arch Linux Fallback has the same problems. I also tried to get to my files with the Arch livecd but I could not mount them:
mount: can't find /dev/sda3 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I have some things on there that I don't want to lose.

From a knoppix disk I mounted sda3 and other partitions to their respective mount points and used chroot.
I ran pacman -S base but many of packages did not install correctly according to the messages.
The reboot with the hard drive fails and I am dropped to a recovery shell.
I can't chroot in again after this because of "Exec format error" however both the Knoppix disk and the Arch install are both i686. Maybe x86_64 base was being installed by pacman.

FiOS Quantum Update and I still have DVR issues after three weeks!!!

I have not been able to set up a NEW SERIES on my Quantum DVR for three weeks and I am getting tired of it.
I went through all the troubleshooting with a tech on the phone, and had two techs come to my house. It is not my equipment, it is a BUG in the latest and greatest update, and I cannot revert back to the previous version! I am tired of paying extra money for a service I cannot use. Nobody has communicated with me in over a week. This is ridiculous and your customer service is really upsetting me. I am very disappointed in a new service that is now not working due to a poorly executed automatic update. At least let us choose to do updates. I usually wait a few weeks to make sure other people do not have any problems. Well, a bit buggy and as I have said, I am tired of it.
GET IT FIXED, OR GIVE ME BACK MY OTHER EQUIPMENT THAT WORKED FINE. TIME TO DOWNGRADE, TO GET THE SERVICE I AM PAYING FOR.
I will continue pointing people toward DirecTV until this is resolved. I am telling anyone who will listen about the poorly executed update and the poor customer service.

Your stuff may be working great at this time. There are several others who are having problems. We all know that only a handful of people ever post on forums. After doing a search on the Quantum DRV update problem, it is obvious Verizon has some issues that is affecting their customers. We (peers) can all agree on that.
You say you dont want replies from peers, just Verizon, but Verizon doesnt read these posts at all like you think they do. These are simply peer to peer forums. Only the mods who run the forums are here and esculate issues to support if the issue qualifies.
Verizon does have a long list of bugs since the latest update that they dropped the ball on and we can only hope they are working on it and will push out a fix very soon. They did release the update without properly testing it first. There's not much we can do except wait and I'm hoping since its taking some time to roll a new update out they are doing it right this time and are not only fixing the issues, but testing them before just rolling it out. I highly doubt the top guys in Verizon do google searches looking for issues we are having when they already know about them. The only thing that would possibly send them a message on if one is frustrated is leaving them all together.

make sure you export your photos to your computer, backup your contacts and create a backup of your phone and you should be fine. My phone is the same as it was except for the new iOS

FNDFS Listener not starting after patching

We recently did patching on our R12 system. The system is online, however the concurrent managers are not working due to the APPS_NPCP listener not starting. When attempting to start FNDFS this is the error we get. This was a working system prior to applying the patches. I can provide a list of patches if needed. There were just under 30 of them I believe. The majority of them were in doc # 437878.1

Nothing really should have changed in the context file or in how the tnsnames.ora is generated, looking at the file it appears correct. What else can I check as to why this won't start anymore?

Where the patches applied to the correct ORACLE_HOME?
Have you verified the contents of listener.ora and tnsnames.ora file under $TNS_ADMIN directory? Running AutoConfig should usually fix those files (assuming it completes successfully and you have proper entry in the /etc/hosts file and your FND_NODES table entries are correct).

OSMServer still loaded in launchd after uninstalling Opdicom Opditracker

Some questions were asked about this a year ago but are now archived, so I couldn't reply.
Opdicom Opditracker leaves a daemon registered with launchd after uninstalling Opditracker.
You can check this by opening Console application (In /Applications/Utilities) and looking for entries from com.opdicom.osm or com.opdicom.osmservercontrol
If you still have these entries appearing in Console after uninstalling Opditracker, open Terminal and run the following commands to remove the daemon.
*sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.opdicom.osm.plist*
*sudo launchctl unload /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.opdicom.osmservercontrol.plist*
You will be asked for an administrator password.
Then you can delete these files using Finder or in the Terminal use,
sudo rm /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.opdicom.osm.plist
sudo rm /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.opdicom.osmservercontrol.plist
That should fix it.

How can I change Country/Region when I still have store credit balance?

I registed an iTunes account when I lived in Japan and I used Prepaid Card to redeem Japanese Yen to account (Country/Region=Japan). I have 60Yen in account now, this amount is smaller than cheepest apps (cost 85Yen).
Right now, I came back to Vietnam and want to change Country/Region and to continue purchase apps in Apple Store:
- When I change Country/Region, I received error message "You have a store credit balance; you must spend your balance before you can change stores.". But I couldn't spend money due to not enough money.
- When I change Payment Type to Visa card, I received error message "You payment method is not valid in this Store. Please enter a new payment method."
How can I change Country/Region when I still have store credit balance? Please help me solve this issue.

You can't change your account's country when you have a balance on it. Patch for Macromedia Director 6.0 Upgrade for Windows - DOES ANYBODY STILL HAVE IT?

Hello, I am a collector of 1990's multimedia who likes seeking out older, pre-Adobe versions of Director. I have the upgrade version of Director 6.0 for Windows, and it's unfortunately part of an early batch that comes with a corrupted copy of the Projec32.skl stub projector file, rendering 32-bit projectors made with the upgrade version of Director 6 for Windows unusable (only 16-bit projectors will work).
Macromedia released a patch on their old website to address this issue shortly after the release of Director 6 back in 1997, but I can't find it anywhere on the Internet these days. Does anyone still have this patch, and if so, can you share it with me? (FYI, the filename for the patch is "D6wpatch.exe") Or, alternatively, if any of you still have the full, non-upgrade version of Director 6 for Windows, can you share the Projec32.skl with me? (it can be found in Director's installation directory, normally "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Director 6")

UPDATE 11/23/2012: I finally found the solution... after calling Adobe tech support to no avail (they searched, but didn't find it - they said that all the old Macromedia files got lost after they purchased Macromedia a few years back), I managed to solve the problem myself! I manually extracted the projector stub code from a working 32-bit Director 6 projector executable in a hex editor, and saved that code as a separate projec32.skl file. I replaced the corrupted projector stub, and I proceeded to make a 32-bit projector with a small test movie I made. And guess what - it worked! Thanks, everyone, for viewing this post. I hope that helps!

After countless hours of reading I finally discovered what the problem was. I did not read thoroughly through the support documentation which allows a person to update their IPOD video very easily simply follow the directions "and I mean the entire directions" within the following link. I would also strongly suggets following the area which state to d/l Quicktime separately from Itunes. This completely rveresed my problems, and now I have a great functioning IPOD once more.

Still have the "Created with Adobe premiere .. trial versions" even after purchasing premiere E 12

I had decided to use the trial version of PE 12 to see if I'd like it before buying it. I used it on a previous project that I had started with a previous version of PE (version 9). After few days, I decided to buy it.
I did, entered the serial number, signed in etc... Now I still have this "Created with Adobe Premiere ...trial version" banner all over the images and video clips? You'd think that Adobe woulld automatically remove this now that I purchased the the program.
Anyone can help me with this?

When you say that you still have the Adobe watermark on your images and video clips, are you specifically talking about those images and video clips within a given project (project.prel file) OR are you referring to exports from the tryout product (file saved to hard drive or burn to disc)?
The Adobe watermark cannot be removed from an export of the Premiere Elements tryout. It can be removed from a project.prel file created in the tryout version. I have found it is an automatic process although some have reported the classical fix worked for them, that being, deleting the rendered files. If you were dealing with your issue at a project.prel level, did that deletion of the rendered files work for you?
If not, this brings up a possibily interesting twist in this FAQ since you are working with a project.prel created in another version before it was opened in Premiere Elements 12. I have always looked at a project.prel created in the tryout not one created in another version and opened in the later version.

MS11-061 still vulnerable after patch applied

I have a Windows 2008 R2 Server serving as an RDS gateway. We also use Qualys to do vulnerability scanning. Qualys is still reporting: Microsoft Windows Remote Desktop Web Access Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability (MS11-061).
This server is fully patched. I have looked through all patches applied and I see where KB2546250 has been applied. If I try to apply it again I just get a pop up that says it is already there. I need to get rid of this entry on my Qualys
report for audit purposes. What could be the problem? Thanks

The problem... most likely... is that Qualsys is WRONG. If the machine is fully patched, then there's not much else you can do to the machine, eh? You wanna get rid of the entry.. call Qualsys and have 'em prove why they're right.

Yes, by all means, use a third-party scanner! The purpose of a third-party scanner is to find stuff you've MISSED. But if you know for a fact that you've not missed anything, then don't let the third-party scanner waste hours of your time trying to
prove a negative.

Wont open after upgrading---i figured it out!!! but still have one question

ok well i updated my ipod to the new version but it wouldnt open i tried everything i could but it didnt work! i unistalled it and reinstalled it at least 5 times and still nothing, i tried what everyone said to do on here and nothing. well finally i went to my norton antivirus and turned off the firewall for 1 hour, and my itunes opened!! you can customize your firewall to allow itunes and that should solve some of yall's problems i hope this helped you because it really helped me after i struggled for days with this. i still have one problem though, now when i plug my ipod in to update it and wont let me..? any suggestions on what i should do?
