my bb q5 has been stolen today and my blackberry protect is off becuse in that time i didn't realize how important it was to do .
so is their any other way to locate it or wipe all the data ?
other way not the blackberry protect .

From what you report here, you have done some, but not all, of that.
Second...unless you put something more onto your BB before this happened, then there's nothing on it to leverage for tracking it. Like insurance, things to help your situation must be done BEFORE the need arises.
Lastly...warranty certainly will not cover your situation.

No, you cannot trace it via the IMEI, but your mobile provider might be able to do so, most often they will not unless you have a police report asking them to do so.

Stolen Blackberry PIN should be lock

My daughter's blackberry was lost today, I tried to call but the founder did not wanna pick up the call and later jus hung up my call.
I have tried to use the Blackberry Protect to lock it but it always shows "Unable to communicate with your device. The command will be delivered the next time your device is accessible on the wireless network."
I have tried many times but the same message keeps on appearing.
I hope RIM can improve the security system as soon as possible.
And I would also propose to start a thread with all those ppl who have lost their BB to post their PIN on this forum to alert those who wanna purchase a second hand BB so that they do not purchase any stolen or lost set

As far as Protect is concerned, if the device battery is dead or the SIM card is removed, there's no communicating with the device. That's not a bug, it's like taking the lifeline away from the device.

Stolen device with BB Protect installed

Hello,
my curve got stolen. I had BB protect installed and tryed locking the device online. The meassage coudn't be sent though.As Protect works PIN specific it is ultimately connected to the device right? Meaning it is impossible for anybody to ever use it on the network without the password set by me?
I want to turn the phone in a worthless piece of plastic!

I have many machines that are encrypted, but say "Protection Off" and are therefore failing compliance in MBAM 1.0. Here is what their status looks like:

My question is: Why are so many machines in this state, and is it safe for me to just run the "manage-bde -on c: -cn AAAAAA" on them or could it cause problems?

I mean to say, it's the MBAM agent who sends information to the MBAM Server about the recovery keys and TPM information. So when you are using manage-bde commands for encryption, the recovery keys will not get stored to the MBAM DBs.
What you need to do is to start the encryption with manage-bde and then at the next client wake up frequency which you have set in your environment, MBAM Agent will send the recovery information to the MBAM web servers an dthen the recovery keys will be
stored to the MBAM DBs.
But in this case also, TPM ownership information will not get stored to the MBAM DBs. For that you need to run a script if you have saved the TPM information in Active Directory. I have posted the script on Technet Gallery.

No. All you can do if you have Find My Phone setup is erase the device or lock it. It must be connected to Wi-Fi in order for the commands to take effect.

Try the following.
Just pull out the battery and reinsert it again for the POWER restart.
Once it reaches to the loading screen, just connect your device to the charger and keep it idol for 2-3hours.
At times BlackBerry Curve 8520 takes longer time then the usual for rebooting.
Hope this resolves your Problem!
