Stop Cursor moving on Return?

How can I stop the cursor moving when pressing Return on a completed cell in a simple Spreadsheet. I fill a cell up, then press return and the cell below comes alive. How can I stop this from happening as default system or indeed as a system peculiar to a particular Spreadsheet?

PS: It is Numbers 09, V2.1 and iMac with OSX lion 10.7.4.

select the table you want to change this behavior for, then open the table inspector and uncheck the "Return Key moves to the next cell" check box:

Need to stop cursor moving when external swf loads???

Hi, I am using a magnifying glass as part of my portfolio but when I click on another section and this loads an external swf above the main movie, because you can still see the main movie below, you can see the magify glass still moving as you move the cursor above??

any ideas how I can stop the magnify glass moving while i am on the external swf above?

OK, I wasn't following what that code was doing before, but try replacing all the code I gave you before with this (put it all on the timeline, and remove that function from the movie clip):

I have to keep my cursor moving in order for firefox to process.

If I stop moving my cursor, firefox stops processing. There is a new icon beside the tab title, that is a circle with a dot that travels around the circle and then circle turns green and rotates. Both these will stop moving IF I have stopped moving my cursor/mouse. I dont' have this problem in explorer but I prefer firefox. This just started the second day after I upgraded to newest version. This happens on every page, even logging into email or facebook, I have to keep the cursor moving in order for firefox to process and progress to the next page.

What exactly are you trying to do?

It stopped sending mail and moving messages between folders, junk messages stopped being moved.

Recently, Thunderbird stopped sending mail and moving messages between folders, junk messages stopped being moved.

Further notes (different user, same problem):
* This is a problem that started in Thunderbird 32
* This involves both automatic (filter) moves and manual moves
* This includes use of keys and hotkeys (the delete key, for example)
* Restarting Thunderbird does seem to "reset" the problem... for a while. I notice the problem most when either I've been away from the computer/program for a while or when waking a laptop computer from a sleep or hibernation state.

Can I stop the same Mail returning after deleting ?

I acn't seem to stop the same mail returning time after time. There are about 10 items of various previous dates that cme back from 'MAIL DELIVERY SYSTEM' - Delivery Status Notification (failure)...
I have tried, Bouncing, deleting and marking it JUNK but they reappear in my INBOX almost immediately.
I have also noticed that recently I am having to Force Quit MAIL very much more often.
Any one have any ideas, please ?

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.

How to stop cursor (pointer) moving to default button in dialog boxes?

My cursor has been automatically moving to the default button in dialog boxes. So if I'm "saving as..." it moves to the "enter" or "ok" button. In other dialogs it moves to the cancel button, or whatever is highlighted. I use a big monitor so my wrists are aching from rolling my trackball all day to get where I want to go and away from the default.
I'm not sure where this happened, but I can't find the cause. I've turned off all my menu bar items, and it still happens. But I can't find anything in OS preferences related, nor accessibility. Unless I'm missing it. Happens with the trackball unplugged, using just the trackpad. Happens in all apps.
I have a vague recollection of engaging something like this in the last OS, but it hasn't been happening until recently, long after I would have enabled it. I think it started on my upgrade to Yosemite, but not sure.
Can anyone help? Terminal commands ok.

It's likely that one of your login items is causing the problem. Select the Login Items tab in the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences. Delete any items that you don't recognize.

Remove the "stop" when moving cursor across monitors |BUILD 9860

I run a setup of 2 monitors. 1920 x 1080, and one 1440 x 900. When I try to move the cursor over from one monitor to the other it "stops" until i drag faster. Extremely annoying, is there any way to turn this off, or is it a bug?
Maybe I could keep it if it wasnt so hard to move the mouse over the screens, but this is terrible .. I cant use windows like this.
Also, its hard to find all the settings for the mouse, like the cursor acceleration etc.

It's the same in Windows 8.
I too have 2 monitors at work with Windows 10 and 2 monitors at home with Windows 8.1
On Windows 8 there is Charm panel at the right edge of the screen and Modern UI apps preview switcher at the left edge of the screen.
On Windows 10 they are disabled in Taskbar and Start Menu Properties, but it seems that traces of screen corner and edge navigation still remain.

Macbook does not shut down or restart. It stops at an blank white screen with the cursor moving around it. Updated to the latest software

I have a Macbook Air 13.3" 2012 model. For a couple of days my Macbook does not shuts down. It just stops at a blank white screen with the cursor still hovering around it. I have to shut it down forcefully every time using the power button.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
          SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Note the timestamps of the BOOT_TIME log messages, which refer to the times when the system was started. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
For example, if the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down for three minutes before you forced a restart, post the messages timestamped within three minutes before the boot time, not after. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract—not at the beginning.
If there are long runs of repeated messages, please post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
☞ When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
☞ Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Step 2
In the Console window, select
          DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
          View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". A shutdown stall report has a name that ends in ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. It's possible that none of these reports exists.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash or panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
☞ Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Lenovo g550 cursor moving Please help

Im struggling on here really....lol....
Im having trouble with my G550.......when im typing ....if im not watching the screen when typing, I find the cursor has moved into the middle of another word after pressing the space bar......also, after pressing the return key, the cursor has moved uptosomewhere bizarre and not where I want it to be.....
Its driving me mad and wastes so much time correcting sentences........
Im not a pc wizz but can get by !!!!

Network traffic only happens when mouse cursor is moving over Firefox window. It's even stopping me sending this message! Doesn't affect 32-bit XP machine.

Is there a way to stop iCal moving address info from event text into 'location'??

Hi, I've just come back to the forum after a long time away, so sorry if this has already been covered, but...
When I create a new event in iCal and type in text which includes an address, the address segnment is automatically moved into 'location'. I find this infuriating as for work reasons I later need to copy and paste all the event text into another app, and the address is now in a different place! As an additional irritation, iCal also screws with the address text and switches the postal code into upper and lower case, so I have to re-type part of it when I move it back into the main event text. Any way to stop this happening? Thanks!

as far as i understand iCal it is on the "receivers/subscribers" side to deal with email-updates (and not on the "senders/changers" side):

Cursor moving problem

Hi guys!
I face a problem with my flash movie and I will like to ask
for help. My movie consists of a map (jpg) and numerous buttons
(with the shape of umbrellas) . I have created the movie in
thefollowing way: when you place the cursor over the button an
image of a beach appears in the upper right side of the screen.
When you press the button you navigate in the dedicated web page.
If you move the cursor away from the button (without pressing it)
you stop seeing the image. My problem is the following: if I move
the cursor very fast in the screen sometimes the movie appears to
stuck and the image remains in the upper right side of the screen
even when I have remove the cursor from the button. I am thinking a
possible overlap between the in-buttons movie clips but i am not
sure.
Any suggestions? Also this is the first time i use a forum.
Where can i see the answer. Will you send it by mail or i have to
check on the site?
