Stop windows console in background

hey again!
how do i stop the windows console popping up in the background when i run my java program? i just want to be able to call my main class and not see the command prompt in the background. (when i run the program from an application program)

Can I stop Windows 7 from warning about security on every linked PDF?

I am working on a project for which I have created one central document (an index) and 120 linked documents. Each document, on every page, has links to the next alphabetical document and back to the central index. This project will be distributed on disc to people with unknown computer platforms.
I am a Mac user, and this works well on my iMac using Adobe Reader. It also works on my ancient Windows XP machine. A tech friend has looked the project over, and he says that on Windows 7 (used by more than half of computer users), every time a document links to a new document, Windows 7 throws up a warning about PDF security hazards. With a large number of documents to open, this could be tiresome.
Is there a way to stop Windows 7 from warning about security on every linked PDF?
This tech person recommends joining all the PDFs into one file (around 50 MB by his estimate), which would require relinking every current link.
Acrobat offers to do the same with its Portfolio, but I'm not fond of the graphic styles offered, and I worry that one large file might be a challenge for older machines.
Any suggestions?

Can you get a screen shot of this error message or at least the exact wording? I suspect the error message is being displayed by Reader/Acrobat and not Windows.

PrintStream to the Windows console

Hi,
I'm printing the copyright char � (Unicode u+00A9) to standard output. This works perfectly in Linux using JDK version 1.5.0_01 and 1.4.2_06 and _01, using either of a UTF-8 and a ISO-8859-1 locale. Unfortunately, when I run the same class in Windows XP with JDK 1.4.2_03 and _06 it fails to show the correct sign. The weird thing is that it's output correctly to a file through the Java logging API, but fails to print the expected character when using a ConsoleHandler as well as with the PrintStream.
I guess the Windows console is not so great, but this is Windows XP, there's no DOS here, isn't it supposed to work properly?
My source file is in UTF-8, which if I'm not wrong is the default encoding used by javac. I'm only compiling this once in Linux, so there's no chance that Windows is misinterpreting the source file. I checked the bytes printed on Linux and they reflect the encoding set through the LANG environment variable. That is 0xa9 and 0xc2 0xa9 for ISO-8859-1 and UTF-8 respectively. I couldn't test this in Windows, but I guess it's outputing on CP1252 and the console uses something different.
Anyway, is this a bug in Java because it's using the wrong system encoding (as the the PrintStream documentation says) or Windows because it gives the wrong encoding to Java?
I found two or three very old similar reports in these forums but they were very old and were related to property files.

Well, I found the bug report... I think this ruins my luck for 2005. See bug #4170549.

In my opinion, Windows file copy on Windows Explorer GUI level is not multiplethread file copying, only when using comamnd or utility like Robocopy, then we can copy file using multiplethread.

Call Library Node + Windows Console

Hello NI developers!
I have a DLL for LabView.
Inside the DLL there are many "printf("...Text....")" calls.
If I compile source code as an .exe and run it - it runs a windows console and shows text outputted buy " printf(....) " and even somewhere expects input from keyboard.
I want my DLL, when I execute VI, also launch console and show all the information the same way as a console application.
I understand that I can simply make a VI which executes .exe application, but I need to receive data from this program to Labview, so I think I should use a DLL.
Could anybody point me at a possible solution of this problem?

I've already tested AllocConsole(). It opens a console and attaches it to VI's process. So if I close either the console or VI - both of them closes immediately.
I even learned how to print text in a new console. But I reached a problem that my driver uses a custom function which processes inputs from a keyboard.
And it is quite difficult to edit this function. So this solution is rather complicated.
Could you tell a bit more about those "ogPipes" ? or post a link to a some kind of doc.
And what If I do not want to run my VI from a Console by typing every time? Then I could make two VI's, 1st VI simply launches command line and runs 2nd VI, which does all work.

Hi Max,
Windows file sharing requires two daemons, nmbd and smbd. They can be started/stopped as follows:
To start (type the following all in a single line):
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/nmbd.plist /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/smbd.plist
To stop:
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/nmbd.plist /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/smbd.plist
The option "-w" indicates that the default setting (whether start them at boot time or not) is also modified (the same effect as you turn them on/off via System Preferences -> Sharing). This means, if you start them and shutdown your Mac without stopping them, then they will be automatically restarted next time you reboot the Mac.
If you use "load -F" instead of "laod -w", then they are started but the default setting is not modified (if it is off then remains off).
If you use "unload" instead of "unload -w", then they are stopped the default setting is not modified (if it is on then remains on and will be started at next reboot).
If you feel the commands are too long to type, then you can devide them into two commands, for example:
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/nmbd.plist
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/smbd.plist

How to stop windows 8.1 from installing default apps??

Hey guys,
Are there any ways to stop windows 8.1 from installing those pesky default apps for new users (Travel, Games, Food and Drink, etc)? Ideally, if there is a way to manage this through a gpo that would be great, but I know of no such way. The point is to deploy the machines without the end user having any access to those apps or the app store. I've written a simple logon script in powershell that uninstalls them, but that seems way to inefficient and a lag on the network. Any thoughts??

I am successful for trial and error correcting problem, other dual boot operating system with Windows 8 (64 bit), Windows 7 Enterprise (32 bit), made unknown corrections internally for Windows 8 eliminating problem of hanging of Windows 8 because of electricity
supply failure.

We are using WLS7.0 to publish our web pages. Is it possible to stop admin console
in case of not accessing to console from Internet? Now the admin console and web
application are on the same port.

i think is not able since you have the two things running on the same port and
so server ...
if you want to do so, you need to separate admin from managed server ... and use
nodemanager to communicate them
you may need to re install bea, using admin server + managed server install profile

This problem started when i install OSX Mavericks, I already tried to enable "Access For Assistive Devices".. didn´t work.

There have been some reports of iPhone's mail app 'forgetting' to check for new mail, but the phenomenon you see of an already-read email (read on another machine) not getting marked as Read right away on the iPhone is a byproduct of the design of the app. Since it can't hold an open connection all day long, the read status is only updated when you open Mail and it polls the server. The iPhone will also only update the unread count when it either Fetches at your predetermined interval or it receive a Push notification. Neither of these actually update the status of current mail on your system, but merely get the new text and increase the unread count appropriately.
But, as I said above, some people are seeing iPhone behavior where its not checking for new mail at all. This, unfortunately, is a bug that rumor has it is high on Apple's to-do list.

How to stop Windows 7 computer from advertising DLNA on the LAN?

I have a streaming server and client on my network, but when I use the client, the server list is cluttered up with the Windows 7 computers I have. I will never, ever be using these computers to stream videos, so how can I remove them from the list? I discovered
that I can do it by removing the Windows Media Player component, but if I do that, then my computers can't play videos either! I just want Windows to stop advertising DLNA services on the network.
Incidentally, this question is not as simple as it seems, because I do have streaming turned OFF. If I use my DLNA client to select one of my Windows computers, I get an error on my TV screen saying that streaming isn't enabled. I want to stop Windows advertising
a service that isn't there...
A workaround would be to remove Windows Media Player and install a third-party media player, but I don't really want to do that.

Yes, that's it. I never found the thread when I searched for an answer because no one mentioned DLNA in the thread at all, which is weird because that's what it's about...
So the service is called "Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service". Thanks to bawoodruff for that.
I echo the frustration described by "jase-in-atl" when he complains that streaming can be turned on, but not off again. My streaming was OFF because I'd never used it, but I had to turn it ON before I could set all the devices to "blocked".
When I blocked all devices, it no longer showed up on the client's list, as I wanted.
It's certainly a very user-unfriendly option, that I have to turn streaming ON, in order to successfully turn the DLNA advertisement OFF. Turning streaming ON seems like a backwards step. Microsoft's attempts to simplify things, or possibly to cajole people
into using certain windows features, certainly makes the settings harder to understand.
