Stopwatch which can save split/ Laptimes to a file

I am using Labview 7, and an E-series daq card. I would like a stopwatch which would start and write a split time to a file when an increased voltage is seen. I cannot program a clock which will save a split time. This is for an undergraduate project.

I am not really clear what code you need. Here is an example program for measuring split time.

  • Can I split a PDF / PCL file when generating using Crystal Report

    Hi,
I can generate a big PCL file from sending it to a PCL printer from Crystal. Can I add something to split the PCL file while generating it from Crystal?
Any pointers towards splitting a PCL would be appreciated.
    Thank you
    Deepa

    Hi Deepti
Crystal Reports is just a tool to present the data.
Unfortunately there is no functionality to instruct to split the report pages while sending to the printer that too automatically from Crystal Reports Designer Stand Alone application.
You can select the page range according toyour requirement.

  • Can you add an object which can be updated via a different file (such as a .xml ) ?

    Hi guys,
I want to create a flash application which I can upload to a website which could give details of dates, times etc.
The problem is I don't really want to keep re-making the application every time an event expires or a new event needs to be added, so is there a way to update a section of a flash application created in Catalyst CS5 via a callback (I think) file such as an xml? I've looked into Flash Builder but it looks incredibly complicated...
    Thanks in advance,
    Dale.

You can complete the layout in Fc but would need to open Flash Builder to connect a dataProvider (XML)
Here's an article on how to create an XML-based dataProvider: http://blog.flexexamples.com/2009/11/04/using-an-xml-data-provider-with-the-spark-list-con trol-in-flex-4/

  • Why can't I "Save as Text" a pdf file received as an email attachment?

I can "Save as text" a pdf file which I have created in my own computer (that is, it goes into MS notebook that I then can Copy and Save as an MS Word file) but not when I receive a pdf as an email attachment. (The file is saved, but it is empty.) Why would I want to convert my own pdf back to text? Well, in case I no longer have the original Word document I suppose, but the thing is "Save as text" works with my pdf, but not with those I recieve from others. How come? Thanks!

Is this a scanned PDF? If so, it must first be OCR'd.

  • Can I speak into my mac and save it as an audio file with garage band

Can I speak into my mac and save it as digital audio file?

Looking at the specs, the mini does not appear to have a built-in microphone as the iMacs do. You can't just plug a microphone into the input socket, as that is line level and a microphone doesn't have enough output. Your easiest move would be to buy a USB headset such as the one Plantronics makes for use with Skype: this should work straight off.
Sound Recorder is a simple audio recorder: I've not used it, so I don't know if it's any good, but it would at least cost you nothing to try it.
Amadeus II and Amadeus Pro are reasonably priced and are fully featured sound recorders and editors which can save in a number of formats.

  • How can save/convert a preview file into a Microsoft Word/.doc file?

Basically, I've open some email attachments and they've opened in 'preview'
I have tried to save them as a .doc file so that I can open them in Microsoft Word, but have been unable to do this.
I have tried 'save as...' but it doesn't come up with a .doc option
I have also tried the 'Open with' in the get info pop up, and have changed it to microsoft word but when I then try to open it, it comes up with a 'Convert File' box.
I have tried some of the options available but none of them work
Am I missing something? or am I going down the wrong route?
Is it even possible to do?
I'm not great at computers and so answers with obvious steps would be great!
    Thanks!

Are these PDF files that you're attempting to save a .doc (or .docx) files. Preview won't do it. You can use a number of third-party application to accomplish what you want, but none of them are that inexpensive.
The least expensive application may be PDFpen - you can save Word documents from PDF files with it, amongst other things.
    Good luck,

  • How to split H.264 video file then playback with FlashPlayer

    Hi all,
I want to develope a Flash or Flex application that can stream a video file in H.264 codec.
It's easy to do this with FMS, but it becomes difficult with my budget
I have an idea to do the streaming (not really streamming ) via HTTP.
My idea is: Split the large H.264 file into small pieces.
The client can download the small files then play back in order. (MyVideo1, MyVideo2.dat.....MyVideoM.dat)
The client first will download the metadata in XML format.
The client is able to play/jumb to the middle stream, the client will start download from MyVideoM.dat...(1<=M<=N)
My question is: How can i split my large Video file in H.264 codec in to smaller pieces (MyVideoN.dat) that flash player can play.
Which is the minimum metada that i have to put into my small file so that FlashPlayer can understand my video files?
Am i able to simply split the video file at serverside, then Client will inject the metadata into the downloaded small DAT files using Flash??
    Thanks for your support

  • Specify a custom save location for Project & Event files

Does anyone know how to change the location in which iMovie saves its project and event files?
By default they're saved in ~/Movies but I'd like to be able to "create a project" and choose where I want to save my iMovie Events and iMovie Projects. Any help or suggestions would be extremely helpful.
    Morgan

    Morgan,
Events and Projects are saved by default in either the iMovie Events folder or the iMoive Project folder inside each users Movie folder.
When you start a new Project, you'll be presented with a dialogue box where you can choose a Project folder an a diiferent drive, but the Project file will still be created in a iMovie Project folder on that drive.
Likewise with Events.  You can pick and choose what drive you want them stored on, but they are still going to be in a iMovie Event folder on that drive.
iMovie uses this organiztion in much the same way that iPhoto uses your iPhoto Library.
You can read more about the Project and Event Libraries here:

  • How can I convert a DSS dictation file to mp3?

Am new to using a Mac and my last place of work I used a PC with Speechexec dictation software.  I need to convert some of the old dictation files to play on either QuickTime or iTunes etc.  Anyone any idea?

I would like to validate and recommend the solution mentioned by Mark Dachille. I, too, have conducted extensive Google searches to find software which can convert Olympus DSS audio-formatted files to mp3, only to discover that there is no such animal out there. NCH Software offers Switch, but if you check out the list of formats supported by Switch, you will learn that while Switch is supported for Windows, Switch is incapable of converting Olympus's proprietary DSS audio files to any other audio format. Any attempt to do so will reveal a message that the file is empty, no data is found, etc. But if the Finder shows that your DSS does have data, then all Switch is saying, in effect, is: "Hey, I can't see anything in this file," which would be a more honest and a more accurate message, instead of using misleading language about the file itself.
(As a related issue, which I will not elaborate upon here, I have a problem with NCH Software. I detest their software upgrading policy;  I find their technical software abominable; and I caught them lying in a recent Google search, where their AdWord at the top of the page alleges that Switch "Easily convert dss audio dictations to wav or mp3 on a PC or Mac. Works on Windows and Mac." Don't believe this marketing hype. It is a blatant lie. I wrote them a letter, and I published it as an open letter in the record for Switch at MacUpdate.com, for anyone wanting further details.)
As far as converting DSS files to mp3, I have found no direct route. As Mark points out, the most elegant option is to use the Olympus DSS Player software. Fortunately, version 7.5 works with Mavericks; I just tested it out once again to confirm that. The Olympus web site provides downloads to the previous versions of DSS Player, which accompanied the purchase of an Olympus recorder, but it may not allow downloading of the original application itself to which you can apply those upgrades. However, if you do a deep Google search, you may get lucky and locate the original application.
Once in DSS Player, you import your DSS file(s). After they are listed in file window, you can export them to AIFF files. From there, you can either use Switch or any other audio converter which can convert AIFF files to mp3 files.
I happen to use Switch, because I bought a license years ago, and it does the job quite well, while also working in batch mode to convert many files at one go. But that does mean I recommend buying Switch, for the reasons I discuss in my comments at MacUpdate.com. Be careful dealing with this software company: have your eyes open before you purchase.
NCH Software has had years in which to empower Switch to work on the Mac, but they either cannot code the program to do this, or they do not want to. Either way, they should not lie about saying their program CAN do in their Goggle AdWord, while admitting on their website, if you probe before you buy, that Switch can NOT convert DSS to mp3 after all. I have a bias against liars.
I find it interesting that NCH Software is not above slamming Olympus for having developed, in NCH's opinion, an inferior audio format for recording dictation. Whether that is true or not, I cannot comment for it is a technical matter beyond my expertise. However, I can say that setting your Olympus recorder (in my case, model DS-2, which has worked flawlessly for me for years), allows you to record many more messages before the storage capacity (of about 68 MB on my device) is reached. So, there is an incentive, in my case, to use DSS on the device, but to convert the source DSS files later on to usable formats on my Mac.
My calculations indicate that when you convert a DSS file to an AIFF file via the DSS Player, your file size will increase about 13 times, meaning that a 1 MB DSS file will convert to a 13 MB AIFF file. Converting that AIFF file via Switch reduces that file to about 9 MB, which means that an mp3 file is about 9 times as large as an original DSS file. The vast difference in the file size allows me to record up to 22 hours at DSS (at 200 - 3,000 Hz) vs 1 hour at Stereo High Quality mode, which delivers an AIFF file (at 100 - 17,000 Hz).
I like being able to choose the quality settings, and I like the ability to call upon the DSS setting to record long conversations, interviews, or dictation, without fretting that I will run out of storage space. The ability to convert those DSS files, via the DSS Player, to AIFF, then to mp3 gives me the flexibility of choice.
The key to the whole process of converting DSS files to other audio formats is the Olympus DSS Player software: it is the essential intermediate step for a Mac user, without which you are stuck, unless you want to run the Windows version of Switch. I don't.

  • How to save the current Indesign defaults file?

Hi, I've tried following the Indesign Classroom in a book but I find it left a lot to be desired for anyone new to this e.g ME!!!!. So can someone please tell me how I can save the current InDesign defaults file on a windows and if you can please do so like you would, for lack of a better word or term, an idiot because I'm fitting that description pretty well right now. Any help will be greatly appreciated and you will forever in my mind be a god, thank you =DDDDD.

Hi, im not too sure (I thought it was a stock standard thing, sorry) so I'll fust give you the instructions my book has.
To save the curren InDesign Defaults file, Follow these steps:
    1, Quit Adobe InDesigns CS5.
2, Locate The Indesigns Defaults file.
. In Windows, the InDesign Defaults file is located in the Documents and Settings/Users/Username/Library/ Application Data/ Adobe/ InDesign/ Version 7.0/en_US folder.
3, Drag the Indesign Defaults file to another folder on you hard drive.
When you launch Adobe Indesign CS5 after moving the InDesigns Defaults file to another folder, a new InDesign Defaults file is automatically created and all prefrences and defaults are reset to their original factory setting.
Okay that's all of it and as far I can get is to the app data, for some reason my notebook doesnt have it and I've been trying to find other ways of getting to it but im having no luck. I would really like to avoid the Ctrl+ Alt+Shift thing because I'll apparently lose any saved settings that I might want to keep.
Hopefully that all makes sense, thank you for responding and your time =3.

  • Can application A access the "itunes file sharing" files of application B

    Hi,
Suppose that application B has files in itunes file sharing (i.e. files which can be saved onto the pc desktop via itunes). Can application A access these files?
I know that there is some sandboxing, but dont know to what extent.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I mean the files which can also be viewed in the  "file sharing" section of itunes e.g. :
    http://slidetorock.com/help/itunes-file-sharing.png
Clearly these files are stored in a different way to other files associated with the application. e.g. If I connect my iphone to a linux machine I can easily view these files for the different applications (but not other files of the app).
I presume apps can also access other apps files which are viewable in "file sharing"?
    Thanks
