Storing a xml excel file in a field of type string in a transparent table

Hello Experts,
I have a program to maintain. There is a transparent table which stores a XML excel file. I have used where used list option to find out if there is an existing program which used that table but couldnt find one.
In debugger mode, when I view the contents of the field, i can see list of characters, when i choose the option of viewing in xml browser, it opens me the excel file.
My requirement is to make a simple change to the excel file and store it back to the table in the same format it is.
Can someone explain to me, how to convert that xml excel file into string so that it is stored in a field of type string.

You can use the parser method provided in CL_XML_DOCUMENT class. Search for this particular class in the forums, you'll find many relevant post.

Edit: If you insist on using the bridge, then take a look at the DatabaseMetaData class, or do a select * and look at the ResultSetMetaData class, although you are much better off not trying to use a Spreadsheet as a database, it isn't one, after all.

Excel size becomes large while creating excel file in jsp using content typ

Hi All,
I created an excel using jsp by setting content type as excel, the size of the excel is coming nearly around 5MB. If copy the content of that 5MB excel content and paste it and created another excel directly. The size of the new excel is coming around 1 MB.
It will be great if any body reply me as soon as possible.

How to change a field of type CHAR of a database table to DATS

I have a database table: ZLT_aztnew with fields M1, M2, K1, K2, A1, A2, P1, P2, S2, D1, D2, STD, BES. All these fields are of type 'Character'. except D2 which is of type DATS. The field D1 is date and is in format DD.MM.YYYY.
I want to convert this field D1 to type DATS so that I can use a date range through 'selection option' to select other data of other fields (M1, M2, K1, K2, A1, A2, P1, P2, S2, D1, STD, BES.) related to field D1 from the database table Zlt_aztnew.

Creation of a field of 2000 characters in a transparent table

I wanted to add a new field (say Z_LOC_TERM_COND) in a transparent table and the field should have a length of 2000 characters. But when i am going to create it ,its throwing an error that "Field Z_LOC_TERM_COND is too long (Specify a length between 1 and 255)". Kindly help me on that .

HI,
USe the data type STRING or XSTRING and then you need not bother to assign the Length of that.
But make sure that that field is the LAST field in the table.
Also you can alternatively use LCHR type.

Passing internal table with a field of type string to & from BAPI

Hello ABAP gurus,
I have a simple BAPI which has to send back an internal table.
Internal table structure is as follows
DATA: BEGIN OF itab OCCURS 0,
        config_id(8),
        blobdata like zstring,
END OF itab.
where zstring is a string of variable length.
When I try to activate the BAPI I get a message
"itab" must be a flat structure. You cannot use internal tables, strings, references or structures as components.
However, just for testing, I changed blobdata to type of char and I can successfully activate and use the BAPI.
But, our requirement is to pass a string of variable length.
How can I resolve this issue? I have searched sdn and other blogs but didn't help so far.
Any feedback on this will be highly appreciated.

     Try this way :
Acc to your requirement ,create a structure with a parameter and a string , create a table type for that structure .
use that table type in the changing parameter as you need that bapi to accept and return a table .
for the below example , ZTEST_05 is a structure , ZTT_TEST_05 is a table type of ZTEST_05 .
ZTEST_05 has got 2 fields , one is a param of type char(8) and another is a string of type STRING .
I created the below mentioned BAPI and I was able to activate it without any errors .
     FUNCTION ZTEST_BAPI_ITAB_01.

*"     VALUE(BAPI_P1) TYPE ZTEST_05

Create Excel file in application server but the field value is incorrect

Hi Experts,
i am facing a problem when create excel file in application server using OPEN DATASET command.
the internal table have 4 field and one of those field contains 19 digit number --> ICCID.
the code running well, successfully create EXCELfile in application server but the problem is SAP only copy exactly first 15 digit numeric only and the rest became zero 0
Example :
the field value in internal table is 8962118800000447654 but when i opened in the excel file the value became 8962118800000440000.
and if i add alphabet like a8962118800000447654 then it is correct.
is there is anything wrong with my code?

Opening Excel file now shows column type in field value...

Just in the last 2 weeks, excel files that have fields set as 'General' are now displaying the word 'General' in the field. If you change it to another type (i.e. number or text) then it just displays the value. The file is originally created in OpenOffice and saved as an MS Excel file and works fine being opened in Excel on Micorsoft. It only has this problem on the iPhone and just started in the last 2 weeks. Any ideas?

if the Excel files contain multiple records is it able to convert the data into internal table records.

Import Excel file into SQL, using bulk copy - date issues

Hello. I have a VB project where I need to import multiple excel files with lots of rows and columns into SQL 2012. Currently the import is set up, using OleDbConnection and insert commands and it takes up to 10 minutes to process all the spreadsheets.
I'm trying to switch the code to use SQLBulkCopy, but experienced issues with dates columns. Some rows have Null dates and those are interpreted as strings and won't import into SQL tables. Is there a way to format the column prior to import programmatically?
Any advice is appreciated.
Note -
If I add column mapping and exclude all dates columns - import works fine. All excel files have date fields, excel files are reports from other vendor and change on weekly bases, manual formatting of the excel files prior to import are out of the question...

Hi Alla,
This issue might be caused because the field contains a NULL value, but the date/time columns in your table does not allow NULL values. Furthermore, please aslo take a look at "Data Type Issues" session in the article below:

How to Display the content of Excel file into Webdynpro Table

Store data in mysql after reading from excel files

I have of course plenty of such files which contains many more rows and columns. The purpose of my program is to read the data, create table named as the name of the excel file and the fields of each table to be the first rows of the excel file. Afterwards the values will be the rest data of the excel file. In the code below i have managed to read them, show the data in the console. Afterwrds i am trying to call a database with JDBC but there i have problem when i create the table.

Changing the datasource in an excel file

Hi,
we used Oracle ODBC Version 7.3 V2.5 for a lot of Excel sheets. Now we are upgrading to ODBC Version 8.0.5 because the old version makes problems with Windows 2000.
As the datasource is stored in the Excel file I need to know how to change the data source in the Excel file without having to create all the queries from scratch.
Can anyone help me with that problem?

OK. The section
DRIVER={Oracle ODBC Driver};SERVER=fe;UID=scott;;DBQ=fe;DBA=W;APA=T;PFC=1;TLO=O;
is called your connection string. Your Excel script is using this rather than a DSN to specify the driver to use and the parameters for the connection.
If you install the latest Oracle ODBC driver for the 8.0.5 client, I believe that the driver name will need to change to "Oracle ODBC Driver in <name of your Oracle Home>". If you're using an older version of the driver that is not multi-home compliant, the driver name will remain the same. If this is going to be run on a lot of machines, you may want to consider changing to use a DSN rather than specifying the driver name, just in case other people used different Oracle Home names when they were installing. If you set up a DSN named "DSNfe", your connection string would be something like:
DSN=DSNfe;UID=scott;PWD=tiger
The other thing you need to ensure is that you have a tnsnames.ora entry in your 8.0.5 Oracle Home named "fe" that tells your client how to connect to the database.
As a side note, the "SERVER=fe;" option is ignored by the Oracle driver, it's not a valid connection string attribute.

Vendor data to XML local file

Hello all,
I am looking for a way to create a background job able to generate or update regularly a xml (or csv or xls) local file containing all my vendors data. I think transaction MDM_CLNT_EXTR on object CREDITOR_EXTRACT can be a good start for this, but I can not generate a local file with this.... Do you have any idea to get to this result?

Hi,
Using MDM_CLNT_EXTR you can not generate a local file. This extracts data from source system and sends to PI. If you want local file then you can choose the following options:
1. Execute MDM_CLNT_EXTR. this will create an XML message and will try to send to PI using Proxy framework. Go to transaction SXMB_MONI in you system and download the XML message.
2. Else, you can go to the transparent table for vendor data and can export it in an Excel file from the table.
Note: If you have PI system in your landscape then You can also automate the process by configuring PI interface.

Uploading my Excel file

Hi
I have an Excel File I wanted to upload it to a SAP Z table. How it can be done.
I saw an option in edit menu for download the data from database table to excel file.But there is no option for upload the data from excel table to database table.
My excel file name is total.xls. It is stored in C:\. My Database table name is Zud_total.
Please guide me in doing the same.
