Storing Java Types????

Hi Iam fairly new to Java, and maybe this is a really stupid question, but I am going to ask it anyway.
Q. I have seen many examples how to create and store java types in a db, what is the purpose. what is it good for??.
(practical example??)

My question was that I dont�t see any point to the following example or am I missing something?
Is this example just to show how to use statements or does it have any other use that you can see??
