Storing notes on mac and not on iPod

Hello!
I have an iPod touch with some notes, and they're all synced with Mail. I'd like to continue storing those notes on Mail, but delete them from the iPod. How do I do that?
If I delete a note and then sync the iPod with iTunes, iSync tells me that more than 5% of the data is being modified and I have to click 'Cancel' every freaking time..
I tryed unchecking the "Sync notes" option on iTunes, but nothing changes I guess
Thanks for the help!!

I've tried many different ways of transferring files & notes & settled on Evernote (free for up to 40MBs of file transfers per month). Available for almost any OS/phone.
Works well for simple notes as well as for Web clips/pages, including images. You can choose to keep part of your data local (resides only on your desktop or laptop computer) or sync to the Evernote server & to your mobile device. And of course, sync from your mobile device to your computer.

    Jennifer,
Welcome to the discussions. I'm not quite sure what happened here. However, I have a few questions. Currently, if you plug your iPod into your Mac, does it show up in iTunes? Have you run the latest iPod updater on your PC? Now, are both of your iTunes versions the same on Mac and PC?

    Hello Casey B,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Try re-installing the latest version from this page on top of the current installed version and see if that helps.

If nothing else, remove the Application from your Mac entirely, and again download the latest version from the link above.

  • Storing files from Mac and PC on Time Capsule

    Dear All,
I am about to add a time capsule at home and I am looking for any advice/recommendations on my planned setup.
I have a Macbook Pro and will be using TC for my Time Machine backup's and as my wireless connection.
My wife also has a PC running XP SP3, and we are planning to store family photo's/movies and a few important documents on to the TC. Also the TC would be the wireless connection for this machine.
From my research, I cannot see any think of any issues with this set up, (I will ensure any files stored from the PC are scanned for viruses before storing them - although I am happy with the security of the PC) but I have not used TC before.
I would welcome any advice/comments on this proposed set up, as to whether it throws up any potential problems or concerns.
Many thanks in advance for any help.

Apologies for posting this in the Discussions>Airport>Time Capsule - obviously should have just been Time Capsule. (I blame a bad day at the office!!)

  • I want to take all the data stored on my mac and put it on an external hard drive, what all can be moved off the computer and still work and what can't?

Im looking to get some external terabytes and move data or files from my internal drive to the external drive, i was wondering what has to stay on the computer to function still and what can me moved if not all of the files on the internal drive. i know i can move the videos and pictures, but what about program data or files or whatever may be nedded to run all of the apps and programs i have on my computer. if i could get some insight, it would be greatly appreciated.

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • Address Book (on Mac) and Contacts (on iPod don't bhave the same way...

    Hi all.
In Address Book (AB), I've flagged some contacts as "Company"; these are business contacts and AB displays them based on the company name which is OK. It doesn't display the person's name in the list, which is OK. If I do a search on the person's name, though, AB finds and displays the appropriate contact. This AB is synced with my iPod touch (IPT).
HOWEVER, when I do a search on the person's name in Contacts on the IPT, it doesn't find it!
As far as you know, is this a limitation of Contacts or am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks!

See: How to Transfer Music Between the Computer and iPod
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.
Manage the iPod either Fully-Auto, Manually or via Selected Playlists.

  • Connection between mac and ipod

Hi I would like to know why, after having tried to connect my ipod 5 o any apple device to my macbook pro retina using splashtop for remote control, despite having istalled the streamer on mac and personal on ipod and connected both in the same wifi, it comes the satellite icon like they are on different network. I also tried joypad connect, to use my ipod as joystick.I have it on both the apple products but my ipod is not found because to work joypad need same wifi. but they are on same wifi!!!! How can I do? I supposed it was a firewall problem, so I turned it off but there is no change. Is it a wifi problem? My modem is a tp-link 150mbps Wireless N ADSL2+Modem router.
    Thanks in advance

    Grazie in anticipo

Your profile says you are using OSX 10.4.11. If you have iOS 4.2 on your iPod you need at least 10.5.8. Also what version of itunes in on your commuter? OSX 10.4.11 can only go as high as version 9.x of iTunes but 10.x is required for iOS 4.2

  • HT1420 Duplicated album and music on ipod and itunes

Whenever I connect my ipod to my itunes, I discover that my music is duplicated in my ipod. I just reset my ipod to the factory setting but I need to delete the duplicate Albums and music in my itunes before I syncronise my ipod with the itunes.
    Please help with suggeste\ions

You can't sync or drag your non iTMS music back directly from an iPod to iTunes. The transfer of non iTMS content is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod, the transfer of purchased content has recently been introduced with iTunes 7. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews of some of these here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

For more on the new function in iTunes 7 look under under File>"Transfer Purchases from iPod" which transfers iTMS purchases. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer

  • Cross compatibility  mac - pc - 5th G ipod??

Can anyone help? ... While visiting a friend in yorkshire i bought myself a new ipod.....i downloaded some music from itunes on to his mac and updated my ipod with them...now when i connect it to the pc it tells my i must reformat my ipod .... is there anyway of doing this without losing my tunes??

No. Windows cannot read from a Mac formatted iPod.
Tell him to burn the songs onto a CD and mail them to you.
A Windows formatted iPod can be read by a Macintosh.
If you are planning on going to see him again, you could wait until you go, format your iPod with windows and then when you go, you could upload the songs to your iPod again.

    - You can redownload yur apps at no additional cost.  See:
How to redownload purchased apps from the App Store
    - You only get one download of music and it is up to you to make a backup.  However, sometimes if you explain what happens the iTunes store may allow a redownload of music.  You can contact them by starting here and selecting the appropriate topic:

You can wipe the iPad's contents completely by going to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. This will remove all of the previous user's apps, data, settings and so on from the iPad and you can set it up as your own.
