Storing Server Variable in Database properly - format

I'm tryign to store the variable $_SERVER("SERVER_NAME") in a
database so
that info@SERVER_NAME can be put in as the default when
creating a staff
memeber. However, I"m having some problems with the server
translating my
<?php {$_SERVER['SERVER_NAME']} ?> to
info@<?php {$_SERVER['SERVER_NAME']}?>I can't
just put the code in the
source, as this info will *only* go in if they don't have an
email address
(which I think will be rarely). Therefore, I also don't
really want to waste
the resources for an if statement, much easier to just manage
it at the
database level.
Can somebody help me? My brain's kinda mush today.

Beginners question - making sense of form, item, pane & variable (with relation to where data is stored in the SQL database)

Hi Everyone,
I am new to writing reports (SQL code) for SAP, however I am aware that inside SAP Business One it is necessary to enable System Information (from the View menu) in order to see which tables (and related table attributes / column names) are related to various aspects of the various SAP 'modules' (e.g.: A/R Invoice).
Using an A/R Invoice as an example I can see at the row (or line) level that an item with the description of 'Opening Balance Transfer' is contained in the table INV1, within the attribute (or column) called Dscription.
However not every 'on screen object' shows a table / attribute. For example in the same A/R Invoice if I hover my mouse over the Balance Due field all I see is Form related information.
My question is 'How do I make sense of the Form, Item, Pane, Variable information?', with relation to where data is stored within the SQL database?
Links to online tutorials explaining how this feature of SAP Business One will be much appreciated, along with any personal advice regarding working with this information.
Any (and all) help will be greatly appreciated.

b. Item, column--->Useful in creating Formatted search queries (FMS)
c. Variable --> Some of the field values based on another values. ie. indirect values.

As per your second attachment, to get balance due ,you need doc total field from OINV table. For example,

ASP VBScript , Remote_User server variable, and Access DB

I need to recreate some ASP pages that were orginally created
in MS FrontPage once upon a time.
I have a table in an Access DB that contains the user's login
ID. I need to pull the date the user completed a quiz at the end of
a web training module.
My connection looks OK, b/c I can pull other info. I can pull
the quiz completion date if I put in my login ID. The login ID is
called Email in the DB and the completion date is called Time.
This works:
SELECT [Time]
FROM QuizComplete
WHERE Email = 'OCSP/BUTLER_A' AND QuizID = 109
How do I change the WHERE Email so it filters by the Server
Variable Remote_User?

As a test, create a blank page and put
<%=Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_USER")%> on it and
then display the
page in your browser. You will see what is returned so you
can then
double check your database. If you get nothing back, then
your IIS
server isn't configured properly, or you are using a browser
that
doesn't use your authenticated login from your domain
controller.
Firefox needs to have your servers names added to a special
section in
advanced options for this to work, IE does it by default,
Safari can't
do it at all and Opera will prompt for your username and
password.

How to get values from a stored package variable of type record ?

Sir,
In my JClient form, I need to get values from a database stored package variable of type record. And the values are retained in the JClient form for the whole session. The values are copied only once when the form is started.
What is the best way to do that ?

not sure what your model is, but if it is Business Components, I think I would expose the properties as a client method on the application module. This way all JClient panels and frames will have access to it. You could use a HashMap to store the data in teh app module.
If JDBC supports the record type, then you should be able to call it via a prepared SQL statement. If not, you may consider writing a PLSQL accessor to your stored procedure that returns something that can be handled.

I have a stored procedure in Oracle 8i database A on server A. I would like to call a stored procedure in Oracle 8i database B on server B. Both servers are on the same network.

I assume you want to initiate the procedure from server B and executed on server A. Is that right ?
1. Create a database link on server B
CREATE DATABASE LINK databaseA.world CONNECT TO username identified by password using 'DATABASEA';
2. Create synonym for the procedure
CREATE SYNONYM proc_on_databaseB for [email protected];
3. Execute the procedure using the new synonym.

You'll be getting this in your case update (answer in response to the internal conversation we've been having about your issue)
So if they really want to control wildcard searches then they should look in the "personalstore.properties" file for the domain (default: /var/opt/SUNWuwc/WEB-INF/domain/personalstore.properties) for the value of "db.idir.wildcardsearch". Its possible settings are documented in the comments. If they wish to disable all "*" and "*x*" searches (i.e. turn off the 'All' and selecting a letter options) they should set the value to at least 2.

Error in File (report server\ report.rpt): Database Connector Error

New installation of XI R2 - using Crystal Reports Version 11.5.8.826 for developement against Oracle DB.
Currently have around 20 reports running on XI (need to import ~1500 reports from Crystal Enterprise 10, but waiting to resolve this issue)
Some reports sometimes (not always) get the following error:
Error in File (report server\ report.rpt): Database Connector Error
If the report is re-scheduled, report will sometime run fine and sometimes gets the same error again.
There seems to be no logical way to determine which parameters will cause the report to fail or when.
I'm experiencing the problem on about 3 reports only - All against the same DB and only occassionally. These 20 reports were developed with CR XI and all run against the same Oracle DB.

I've got the same problem- the reports run fine in Crystal, but sometimes (not everytime) they fail in InfoView with "Database Connector Error" message. My report doesn't contain any data, just 8 sets of 4 subreports in different footer sections, which each connect to a different stored procedure. The report is to help with our server checks: we have a set of 4 different stored procedures which run on each of 8 different servers making 32 different SPs and there is a subreport in this report for each.
It does seem to be random whether this problem occurs or not- I have scheduled the report to run regularly (1 recurring instance) and sometime it works, sometimes not, but always the same failure message. I have increased the success rate by allowing the report to re-try on failure, but this does take time, and isn't really curing the problem.
I wonder whether this error could be caused by a delay in one of the SPs returning its data, and the report timing out since no data is being returned. Would anyone know whether this is likely to be the cause, and if so how to fix it? Or any suggestions what else it could be?

Storing XML schema in database

Hi everybody..I have question here related to the storing of the XML schema in the database. When an XML Schema is created like this.
dbms_xdb.createResource('home/DEV/xml_schema_test.xsd'),
then is the XSD created and stored in one of the database tables or is it stored physcially as an xsd file in the database repository or both?
If it is stored in one of database tables, then which table is it?
If it is stored as an XSD file in the database repository, then how can I access the xsd file if I created it like in the example above.
To access the xsd file over http, do I need to start the xsdhttp server or is it already started if I loaded XDK in my database.
Would the url for accessing the same over http be
http://db_machine:8080/home/DEV/xml_schema_test.xsd.
I think I have got information in bits and pieces but not able to put everything together.

Where is the UniqueID value stored in the SharePoint database?

I'm trying to find where the 'UniqueId' field is stored in the SharePoint database for a list item. Not the GUID, but the UniqueID. This value is usually formatted like [ID#;GUID]. The guid here is different than the item guid.
In the documentation the column has a description, 'Lookup to a GUID for an item.' ( http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd961684(v=office.12).aspx )
but I can't find it in the database.
Here is the query I tried.
SELECT UserData.*
FROM dbo.Lists INNER JOIN dbo.UserData
ON dbo.Lists.tp_ID = dbo.UserData.tp_ListId
WHERE dbo.UserData.tp_ListId = '[my list]'
This should pull all values from the AllUserData table but it doesn't list 'UniqueID' as a column.

If you have 2 lists, List A contains custom names, List B has a lookup field that points to List A. I go into list B and select a client name ("Contoso"), enter some info, and save it. On the back end, the list item will contain a value of something like:
34#;Contoso
In this scenario the 34 is the SPListItem.ID value of that item in List A. They start at 1 in each list and increment by 1.
Also, running queries against the database directly is not supported and can take your database out of Microsoft's supportability.

Storing images inside the database

we are running oracle 9ir2 on Solaris and would like to know how to go about achiving the following:
would like to be able to read/write/create/delete bitmap image files in a file share on the same server as the database which would be stored in a table within our schema in the form <filename varchar2>,<image-file-contents blob>
Is this possible?! If so - any pointers in the right direction would be great!

To some extent, this was covered a few days ago in the PL/SQL forum. There are some examples of uploading image files to blobs in the database here.

If you want the images to be visible on a file system, you may want to use BFILE's, rather than BLOB's. BFILE's are essentially pointers in the database to file system objects, while BLOB's are stored completely in the database. The major disadvantages of BFILE's are that
- the file may be deleted or moved, leaving the Oracle BFILE pointing at nothing
- the file won't be backed up with the rest of the database
Going up a level of sophistication, you could store the images using interMedia. This gives you significantly more options for manipulating the images within the database.
Finally, you can use Oracle iFS (or whatever it's been renamed to today) to provide a file system interface to an Oracle database. This is the most robust of the options, but is also the most work to configure.

WD MyBook Properly Formatted?

I just connected today (via firewire) a 500GB WD MyBook to my iMac to use as an external drive for Time Machine. There was already data on the drive that was no longer needed. When the WD was first connected, it was immediately recognized by my iMac. I indicated that it was to serve as a backup drive via Time Machine. I was also asked to erase the existing data/drive --- to which I indicated yes. Presumably the erase process proceeded without any hitch and the Time Machine started its first backup at about 1.5GB/min.
My question is: Should I assume that the WD MyBook was properly formatted? At no time was I asked to reformat as Mac OS Extended? Was this automatically performed during the erase process?

Why assume when you can know for sure? Select the Time Machine volume in the Finder, type the letter i (eye) while holding down the Command key, & read the format from the "Get Info" window that pops up.
To be sure everything is as recommended go one step further & open Disk Utility & select the parent drive of the TM volume from the list on the left (the TM volume name is indented under it) look at the bottom of the window. The last line of text there will tell you the partition map scheme of the drive. For a drive used only with Intel Macs, this should be "GUID Partition Table." Otherwise, it should be "Apple Partition Map." It should not be "Master Boot Record."

Back Up Server - for 10g Database

I have the following requirement:
I have a production databaser running on Dell Server with Windows 2003. I want to create a back up server for the same and it need to be updated daily evening. So i have writtent a batch fil as follows:

Now from the above file you can see i am using the exp utility and taking a full backup of the database and copying it to S drive which is nothing but one of the drives i have mapped for coping over the network to my back up server. Now on my backup server i have installed Oracle 10g Database same version as on production with the same SID. Now after doing the export can i run import on the back up server using system user to load all the data from the export file?
Will it work also i have to perform this exp/imp daily evening automatically so what will happen to the data which is on Back up will all the users data will overided or what will happen, I will be thankful if anyone can explain and guide me in performing the above mention task.
Note Db Size is 450MB.

If you want to use an export as a supplement to a viable backup mechanism, the least you could do is use datapump. However, if this is all that you use, like damorgan says, you are a disaster waiting to happen.
Physical backups are backups of the physical files used in storing and recovering your database, such as datafiles, control files, and archived redo logs. Ultimately, every physical backup is a copy of files storing database information to some other location, whether on disk or some offline storage such as tape.
Logical backups contain logical data (for example, tables or stored procedures) exported from a database with an Oracle export utility and stored in a binary file, for later re-importing into a database using the corresponding Oracle import utility.
Physical backups are the foundation of any sound backup and recovery strategy. Logical backups are a useful supplement to physical backups in many circumstances but are not sufficient protection against data loss without physical backups.
Unless otherwise specified, the term "backup" as used in the backup and recovery documentation refers to physical backups, and to back up part or all of your database is to take some kind of physcial backup. The focus in the backup and recovery documentation set will be almost exclusively on physical backups.
