Strange behavior in Webi : No data returned

Hi,
I am experiencing a strange behavior.
I have created a condition object in universe.
Start Date : DATE_DIM_TBL.DAY >= UPPER(to_char(to_date(@prompt('Enter start date','D',,mono,free),'dd/mm/yyyy HH24:MI:SS'),'dd-mon-yy'))
End Date : DATE_DIM_TBL.DAY <= UPPER(to_char(to_date(@prompt('Enter end date','D',,mono,free),'dd/mm/yyyy HH24:MI:SS'),'dd-mon-yy'))
Now when I create report to display years between 01-05-2005 and 04-05-2009. Report does not return any data.
Where as when I execute the generated query from SQL prompt it return correct data.
SELECT
  DATE_DIM_TBL.CALENDAR_YEAR_NAME
FROM
  DATE_DIM_TBL
WHERE
   ( DATE_DIM_TBL.DAY >= UPPER(to_char(to_date('01-05-2005 00:00:00','dd/mm/yyyy HH24:MI:SS'),'dd-mon-yy'))  )
   AND
   ( DATE_DIM_TBL.DAY <= UPPER(to_char(to_date('04-05-2009 00:00:00','dd/mm/yyyy HH24:MI:SS'),'dd-mon-yy'))  )
can somebody please give any pointers about what has gone wrong in WebI.

Yes I tried SQL*PLus on BOBJ Server machine. SQL returns correct data.
Do you think is it some setting in WebI, As It hapopens only when I use condition object as a filter in Webi report. When I create Report filter it works fine.

  • HTTP Handler strange behavior when updating HR data

    Hi there,
    Brief summary: Executing a function module from inside a HTTP Handler gives a different result than executing the function module direcly through SE37. The user defined for the SICF service calling the Handler is the same as the one we use for SE37.
    Details:
    We have created an HTTP Handler implementing the interface IF_HTTP_EXTENSION.
    We have also defined a new service through SICF that access the previous Handler.
    We have a web application accessing SAP through that HTTP Handler.
    Within our HTTP Handler (within the IF_HTTP_EXTENSION~HANDLE_REQUEST method), we are calling a custom function module that perform different actions depending on the parameters received.
    The solution works really well but we have identified an issue for some actions: when we execute some background updates (like calling HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION) and the transaction returns an error, the HTTP Handler suddenly stops and the HTTP call returns an error.
    The strange thing is that executing the function module directly (without calling the HTTP handler from the web) captures the error and continues the execution of the function module.
    It seems that when the function module gets called from the Handler, there is some screen or user parameters that affect the result of the transaction, and we cannot find the way to capture that error and let the Handler to continue.
    Any idea, suggestion, alternative solution would be much appreciated
    Best regards,
    Miguel

    Hi Olivier, thanks for your reply, nice to see you are still out there
    You raise a good point. We are reusing an "old" web app that was connecting to SAP through the DCOM connector. The RFC (the function module I mentioned on my first post) cannot be modified as it handles tons of different web calls, so we decided to call that RFC from the Handler.
    It may not be the best solution, but the web app has been modified to call the different handlers (for the different environments) and still hope to find a work around our current problem.
    Other than that, it works really well and performance is amazing
    Thanks again,
    Miguel

  • Strange Behavior for web deployment of Anyconnect essentials

    We've got a weird problem that has popped up and we've been unable to figure out what's going on.
    We have instructed our user community to start their VPN sessions by connecting to our ASA 5520 with a browser to download (if necessary) and initiate the Anyconnect essentials VPN client.  Everything was working fine until a few days ago.
    We have had several people report the same problem.  They connect with the browser, enter their login information and are greeted with our "authorized use only" message by the ASA.  Then, instead of downloading (if necessary) and starting the VPN client software, the web page just goes back to the login prompt without displaying any error message.  The client software is never downloaded or started.
    We've been able to work around this by installing the client software manually (where necessary) and starting the VPN client from the start menu.  However, this isn't our preferred solution because this method won't have them automatically picking up updated versions of the VPN client.
    We have seen this behavior before when there was a pending Java update that had not been applied.  However, that doesn't seem to be the case this time.  Clients have recently updated to IE9, but I have personnally been running the Anyconnect client and launching through IE9 for months.
    Any ideas about what's wrong or how to debug this?
    Thanks
    Patrick

    Hi Patrick,
    Ideally, when you have Anyconnect Essentials enabled on the ASA, you cannot get access to the Clientless VPN (Web Portal access to the internal resources) however the Web Launch of the Anyconnect client does work with it.
    I see that you have implemented this a different way (workaround) by manually installing the Anyconnect VPN clients on the machines and then trying to connect it to the ASA, which works and this means that configuration on the ASA for allowing the Anyconnect connection is correct. Now it is not allowing you to launch it from the web portal on machines which means the download access has been restricted somewhere on the ASA.
    Could you please follow these two steps and let me know if you see something different.
    1. Get access to the ASDM and follow this: Configuration>>Remote Access>>Anyconnect>>Edit the tunnel-group on which you connection is landing>>Login setting. Please check if it says go to the clientless portal or launch Anyconnect. It has to be Download Anyconnect automatically.
    2. If you are not getting the prompt for the username and password on the webportal then go to Configuration>>Remote Access>>Clientless (not sure if it is under Anyconnect or clientless, please check both) where you get option: shut down portal login on the main page. Please make sure that it is unchecked.
    In your case I see that the users are getting prompt for the username and password however when you authenticate yourself you are getting error message: authorized use only then it could be something to do with the DAP Policies (dynamic access policy).
    Go to the dynamic access policies and you will get an option named as Anyconnect (please check if the correct option is checked under the same). If multiple dap policies are configured then please check the dap policy which gets pushed when the user logs in and make changes to that specific dap policy.
    Please let me know if this help else I would request you to open a TAC request and we will look into this issue. If you find something different then please share here.
    Thanks,

  • How configure a primavera web service to return data from the second database?

    Hi everyone,
    We have P6 with first WS deployed on a single server weblogic domain. The first WS return data from the first database instance.
    Then deployed advanced second WS on a separate weblogic domain server with a different port. Configured second WS with <WS2_INSTALL_HOME>/bin/dbconfig.sh, creating a new branch of a configuration that specifies a different second instance of the database. However, this configuration is ignored and second web services return data from the first database.
    We have one domain, which including next servers:
    Name / Host / Port / Deployments
    P6 / localhost / 0001 / P6(v8.3), p6ws1(v8.3)
    p6ws2 / localhost / 0002 / p6ws2(v8.3)
    Now we have two different file BREBootstrap.xml.
    P6 BREBootstrap.xml:
    <Database>
    <URL>jdbc:oracle:thin:@db1:1521:db1</URL>
    <UserName>pubuser</UserName>
    <Password>anycriptopass1</Password>
    <Driver>oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver</Driver>
    <PublicGroupId>1</PublicGroupId>
    </Database>
    <CfgVersion>8.330</CfgVersion>
    <Configurations>
    <BRE name="P6 Config_DB1" instances="1" logDir="anydir/P6EPPM/p6/PrimaveraLogs"/>
    </Configurations>
    p6ws2 BREBootstrap.xml:
    <Database>
    <URL>jdbc:oracle:thin:@db2:1521:db2</URL>
    <UserName>pubuser</UserName>
    <Password>anycriptopass2</Password>
    <Driver>oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver</Driver>
    <PublicGroupId>1</PublicGroupId>
    </Database>
    <CfgVersion>8.330</CfgVersion>
    <Configurations>
    <BRE name="P6 Config_DB2" instances="1" logDir="anydir/P6EPPM/ws2/PrimaveraLogs"/>
    </Configurations>
    ‘P6 Config_DB1’ and ‘P6 Config_DB2’ including Database property for 1 and 2 database respectively.
    How to configure a second web service to return data from the second database?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Dmitry

    OK, so I got this to work this morning with Username Token Profile (with little help from Oracle Support).
    I followed your steps 1-4 but in step 2 I didn't add the -Ddatabase.instance=2 because I want to check to see if my code could swap between different instances.
    It appears for Username Token Profile to use Database Instance, you need to set it in the soap header.
    So my soap request looks like this:

  • WebI does not return failed when scheduling a report which only holds parti

    WebI does not return failed when scheduling a report which only holds partial results.
    We have scheduled reports which take some time to run. When they are scheduled they sometimes show successful even though the report only holds partial results. The only indication is when you open the report as webi report you see the warning that it holds partial results.
    When running the report manually, it works file.
    The issue is not in the no of rows in the universe settings because we this unselected. The issue is that it times out.
    The reason that it times out is that a lot of resources are used for loading and processing data when the report is scheduled. When running it manually, it works because at this time the serverload is less. the time in the universe is set to 10 min.
    The version we have is BOXIR2-SP4.
    Ok. Issue identified.
    The question is - why is the report successful when it holds partial results? If this is normal behavior, noone can really trust the scheduled reports, especially when you save it to excel and send it by mail.
    Is there a solution for this except increasing the allowed query time which would not solve the issu but only allow more reports to complete?

    Hi ,
    Currently this problem exists in XI R2. This feature will be part of thenext Service Pack i.e XI R2 SP6.
    This CER will be delivered from IDC Webi and BIP Platform as part of Jupiter Sp6.
    Problem Statement:
         Scheduled WebI Reports which are partially refreshed are distributed to the destinations for Users to View and make decisions. These users arenu2019t usually aware that these reports have u201CPARTIAL RESULTSu201D
    Recomended Solution:
        Allow the Schedule Creator / Modifier to set a parameter to stop the distribution of the u201CPARTIALLY REFRESHEDu201D WebI report.
    Thanks
    Salini

  • Web Service Data Controls don't refresh properly.

    I am runing JDeveloper Studio Edition 10.1.3.2.0.4066
    I have developed several Web Service Data Controls and pages to use them to display output. The pages seem to have a problem refreshing output when the value of the input parameter is changed, but only once data has been successfully fetched once.
    I have tried several settings for the refresh attribute:
    IfNeeded: retrieves data only once. Even if other valid values are put in, displays same data. Values that would retrieve no data show a blank screen UNTIL a data set is retrieved, then goes to same data displayed instead of blank form.Scrolls through multiple records. This is true for every option which has IfNeeded in the name
    Always: retrieves different data every time the parameter value changes. If the parameter value would result in no data being retrieved, the screen displays the last data retrieved with another value instead of blank. Scrolling is broken because every time I hit the navigation buttons, the screen refreshes and puts the current row back at the first record.
    PrepareModel: retrieves different data every time the parameter value changes. If the parameter value would result in no data being retrieved, the screen displays the last data retrieved with another value instead of blank. It will scroll thru records, but every couple of records I get this error:
    JBO-35007: Row currency has changed since the user interface was rendered. The expected row key was oracle.jbo.Key[1 ]
    RenderModel: Same as IfNeeded.

    After adding a refresh condition, RefreshCondition="${adfFacesContext.postback == false}", to the invokeAction for the Execute operation, I was able to query new data when the parameter changed, and maintain correct scrolling behavior. Thanks to Oracle's Chintan Shah for helping me confirm this solution.
    However, I still have a problem. If I get a set of data and then pass a parameter which would cause the web service to return no data (a null result set), the screen displays the old set of data rather than a blank screen. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

  • Strange behavior  in entity bean : get Timestamp

    Hello:
    I'm working with SUNONE 7 AppServer , over SunOS 5.9
    I've a strange behavior with entity's get methods which return Timestamp value.
    For example, I've got
    Timestamp date;
    If I do
    entity.setF(date) , ( date is a Timestamp with value "12/12/2005 12:30:00" )
    all works right, and in database is wrote right ( "12/12/2005 12:30:00" )
    But , if I do
    date = entity.getF()
    the, date variable has the value "12/12/2005 00:00:00"
    So, in get method is lost the time value of a Timestamp data
    Could be a code bug in my source , but if I use Jboss AS over Windows XP , all work right ( set and get methods ). The database is the same one ( Oracle 9i )

    Well, I found the solution.
    The problem was the ojdbc14.jar driver, which made wrong schema files.
    Exactly, with the bad ojdbc14.jar, generated this entry
    <_type>91</_type>
    when the right one for date types ( Timestamp ) is
    <_type>93</_type>
    I dont know why the new ojdbc14.jar works fine, but I paste its size
    good ojdbc14.jar : 1181679 bytes

  • Strange behavior in Financial Reports (drop down feature)

    Hello Gurus,
    I have currently performed migration of Financial Reports from 11.1.1.3 environment to 11.1.2.2 environment with the help of a staging environment.
    We migrated the reports over to 11.1.2.2 using LCM from the Staging 11.1.2.2 environment.
    We are observing some strange behavior with the Financial Reports that have drop down functionality in our new environment.
    When we open a report in our current environment (113) and select a particular member (India) from the Page dimension(Page has almost 30 members in it) it returns appropriate data, however when the same report is opened in new environment (122) and when we select the same member(India), it does not return appropriate data(Page has almost 30 members in it).
    However if we design a sample report with the same member in the page (Page has only 1 member (India)) and then open the report it shows correct data.
    So the issue occurs only when we have more than 1 members in page and it works as expected when we have only 1 member in page.
    Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    hyperionEPM

    Hello Neeraj,
    We are trying to understand the potential reason as to why is it causing this. Is there anything similar caught in .303 patch?? I will have a look at the .303 patch readme.
    Thanks,

  • Partial Solution:Web Service Data Controls don't refresh properly.

  • Strange Behavior of program while using BAPI_PO_CREATE1

    Hello SAP GURUs,
    I've created an Upload Program using BAPI_PO_CREATE1 for Mass Service PO Creation.
    When I execute the program and Specify the File for uploading, It Gives me errors as
    E     BAPI     1     No instance of object type PurchaseOrder has been created. External reference:
    E     MEPO     0     Purchase order still contains faulty items
    E     6     436     In case of account assignment, please enter acc. assignment data for item
    But when I come back to Selection Screen of the Program and specify the SAME FILE AGAIN and Execute,
    The Program runs successfully and generates the PO number.
    I have never seen such strange behavior in any BAPIs before.
    Pls help..

  • Strange behavior of HtmlPanelGrid.getChildren().clear();

    I have some problem, described in previous messages.
    Investigating it, I found some strange behavior, which I cannot understand.
    I builded a small application to isolate this strangeness.
    There are two pages, first and second. There are hyperlinks from first page to second. Secon page serves as an indicator, that navigation was successfull. It is not so all the time.
    There is a bean, which constructs a hyperlink at runtime and which contains my problem, as I think.
    The config file is (header and footer skipped):
    <navigation-rule>
    <from-view-id>/welcomeJSF.jsp</from-view-id>
    <navigation-case>
    <from-outcome>select</from-outcome>
    <to-view-id>/secondPage.jsp</to-view-id>
    </navigation-case>
    </navigation-rule>
    <managed-bean>
    <managed-bean-name>bean</managed-bean-name>
    <managed-bean-class>Buggy.Bean</managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
    </managed-bean>
    One can see, that navigation is always controlled with the one constant string literal -- select. The bean is called just "bean" and it exists during a session.
    First page is (header and footer skipped):
    <f:view>
    <h:form>
    <h:commandLink id="link1" action="select" value="link1 (hardcoded)"/>
    <h:panelGrid id="panel" binding="#{bean.panel}" columns="20" border="1" cellspacing="0">
    <h:commandLink id="link2" action="select" value="link2 (hardcoded)"/>
    </h:panelGrid>
    </h:form>
    </f:view>
    One can see, that there are two hardcoded hyperlinks, one is inside the panelGrid, second is outside. Also it is seen, that the panel is binded with bean property as a whole.
    The second page is just displaying a text to be sure the navigation occured.
    Now the bean (header and footer skipped):
    private HtmlPanelGrid panel;
    public HtmlPanelGrid getPanel() {
    return panel;
    public void setPanel(HtmlPanelGrid panel) {
    this.panel = panel;
    Application application = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getApplication();
    MethodExpression expr = application.getExpressionFactory().createMethodExpression(FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getELContext(), "select", String.class, new Class[0]);
    HtmlCommandLink link = (HtmlCommandLink) application.createComponent(HtmlCommandLink.COMPONENT_TYPE);
    link.setId("link3");
    link.setValue("link3 (softcoded)");
    link.setActionExpression(expr);
    panel.getChildren().clear();
    panel.getChildren().add(link);
    One can see, that a third (softcoded) hyperlink is added to the panel dynamically, with preliminary clearing panel content.
    * STRANGENESSES *
    1) despite the fact, that the panel is cleared prior to adding softcoded hyperlink, I CAN see it on the page (all 3 hyperlinks are seen)
    2) in the debugger I can see, that while executing code, the children list is empty; this can mean, that the order of execution of the Jave code and JSP code is reversed; despite this fact, I see the hardcoded link BEFORE the softcoded
    3) the link2 (hardcoded) is not work, i.e. it is not leads the second page to be displayed
    4) if I comment the line panel.getChildren().clear(); then all 3 hyperlinks start to work

    But when I put links creation code in bean's constructor, it was lost.
    It seems to me, that the system creates panel independently and only after that calls setter of my bean. Ergo, the data from the panel field, initialized in constructor is overwrited.
    Where I should place programmatic filling of panel element?

  • STRANGE BEHAVIOR OF NVL

    Hi everybody,
    Can you please explain me this strange behavior of NVL function:
    SQL> select nvl(10000,'none') from dual;
    select nvl(10000,'none') from dual
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-01722: invalid number
    SQL> select nvl('none',10000) from dual;
    NVL(
    none
    Can you explain what goes on internally to make these statements different?
    I mean why is it expecting a number(as a second arg) in Case 1 and why is it not expecting a character string as a second arg in Case 2? Has it got to do with implicit type-conversion?
    Finally, does NVL need both arguments of the same type?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Kishore.

    The return type of NVL is the datatype of the first argument. If the two arguments have different datatypes Oracle applies a conversion. That's why you got your results: in effect what you were running was
    select nvl(10000,to_number('none')) from dual;and
    select nvl('none',to_char(10000)) from dual;Of course, 'none' is not a valid number, hence the ORA-1722 result, whereas 10000 can be successfully rendered as a string.
    If you do not provide NVL with arguments of the same datatype it will apply an implicit conversion to the second datatype. It is always better (that is safer) to avoid implicit data conversion.
    Cheers, APC
    P.S. For bonus points, which argument determines the datatype of a DECODE function?

  • Strange behavior of flex4 service call

    Hi Techies, I am stuck with strange behavior of flex4 service call. Our is a dashboard application where i have four modules(separae file for each) in a page. when page renders all these modules makes separate service call through remote objects. Though destination file is same but methods are separate for each modules. db+java takes 5 second for 1 and 3 module, 9 seconds for third module and 15 seconds for 4th module. Sinch LCDS calls are asynchronous ideally after 5 seconds module 1 and 2 should display data. similarly for 3rd module after 9seconds. For my wonder it doesnt go this way. data for all the modules appears simultaneously after 15-16 seconds.  It behaves like when data for all the modules is available then only it populates charts and grids. Looks like call is being made in sequence and once maximum taking method is done then control returns back to flex. Any pointer will be helpful to improvise this.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

  • Strange behavior of db update in debugging and no debugging execution mode

    Hi Experts,
    I am finding a strange behavior of certain Z update function (to update equipment install base) : The update happens perfectly if I go into debug mode and do a F6 on the function call. But if I executed it completed without going in debug mode, that update does not happen!
    I checked the function and found that it does have COMMIT WORK AND WAIT which gets triggered every time I call this function.
    Also does compiling the code with some changes and executing in cycles have any affect on the behavior of code? Do I need to do a /nse38 every time, before I do executing? I am not sure this is in any way related to the problem.
    Will appreciate your helpful responses on this.
    Best regards,
    Vishnu T

    Withing the Z function, it is the calls to SAP standard functions that are doing the update. Here is the function body
