Strange behavior when opening ESS iview in new window

Hi all,
I have a problem that i find very strange. In ESS, when opening a iView in a new window, for some users the link to the ITS service gets corrupt..
An example:
http://XXXXXX:54500/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.pagebuilder.IviewModeProxy?iview_id=pcd%3Aportal_content/com.ericsson.Ericsson/com.ericsson.ESS/com.ericsson.roles/com.ericsson.EP_ESS_HRMS/com.ericsson.personal_information/com.ericsson.previous_employers/com.sap.pct.ess.persinfo.pz28&iview_mode=defaultNavPathUpdate=false&buildTree=false
If you look at this link you can see that the & sign between iview_mode and NavPathUpdate is missing and makes the launch of the iview will fail.
If I use the same link for opening the page in a new window this error does not appear.
I have tried to change the parameters that are passed on but this does not help..
Any ideas?

Opening of IView in New Window

Hi All,
I have iView which is common to two different roles. In both roles I have to open in the same window but since a link cannot be provided with two different PCD locations. I want that iView to be displayed in a new window.
So on click of link how we can open an iView new window?
My other question is how do we workaround the problem i'm facing as i want that open the same link for two different roles. if i assign the iView to different role and call it then I'm affecting my Detailed navigation view. which i don't want to get effected.
Please consider it urgent

Hi Srikant,
In one of the iview property u can specify that open in new window.
What i would suggest for ur porblem is that use EPCM.doNavigate as the href when u click on the link...
Syntax

The navigation target specifies the location of an iView or a page in the current user role. The target can be obtained from the portal catalog as a value that is concatenated by folder id s, roles or other objects.
The navigation target has to be prefixed with the corresponding navigation connector name that is used for retrieving the navigation structure. When accessing iViews and pages in the role from the Portal Content Directory (PCD), you have to add the prefix ROLES:// to the URL.
Example:
We have created a custom role (MyRole) and assigned an iView (MyIView) to it:
portal_content (root folder)>>MyRole (folder)>>MyRole (role)>>MyTest (folder)>> MyIView (iView)
The corresponding navigation target is:
ROLES://portal_content/MyRole/MyRole/MyTest/MyIView

How to open URL iView in new window

HI,
We are not able to open the URL iView, which is assigned to page, in new window.
We set the property "Launch in New Window" to Launch in Separate Window but no use.
Please let us know the solution

Hi Tatayya,
Remove the delta-link that you have done for that iview to the page. Change the necessary settings on the iview level (skip this part if you have already done). Then re-"delta-link"the iview to the page and test if it open in a different window.
Could also be your cache, so go ..navigate via Sys adm--> Navigation -> clear cache.

VBScript message when opening URL's in new window.

Hi,
I've got a folio that uisng buttons to oopen up some external URL's. On some of them I get this error message
<%@ Language=VBScript %> <% ' Permanent redirection Response.Status = "301 Moved Permanently" Response.AddHeader "Location", "URL/" Response.End %>
And some work fine. I can't find any difference in the method of making the buttons or any consistency. Has any one else seen this message before?

Stops working when I chose to open something in a new window

When I open firefox, it takes about 5 minutes for it to actually open, and then if I go to a website and a new window pops up, or if something auto opens in a new window, or if I choose to open something in a new window, firefox stops responding, so I have to open up the task manager to end it and then restart it again. I've checked my plugins and made sure everything is up to date and have tried reinstalling firefox, and it's still having problems.

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). i'v try to changed ivew property @ Launch in New Window = Display in Saparate Window but still @ my portal iview is displaying in Content Area only i want display in new window.

Change workprotect.mode.default to 2
still its getting in sam content are plz can u help out ASAP..

Hi Richard,
The property Launch in New Window = Display in Saparate Window should work. Try to assign the iView directly to the role and check. It might also be some cache problem. Try to navigate to System Administration>System Configuration>Navigation Cache.
Clear them and check once again. Hope it might solve your problem.

Open iView in new window in fullscreen

Hi,
I would like to open an (URL) iView in new window and maximize it size to expand on all the screen. Something like: width=100% height=100%.
Unfortunatly, the window feature properties does not allow this, it only allows passing width and height in pixels.
Does anyone has a solution for this issue? How to open iView in a new window in full-screen.

Hi Aviad,
You could set "fullscreen=yes" (without quotes) for the property called "Window Features" (technical name: "com.sapportals.portal.navigation.WinFeatures") on the navigation element in question (iView or, if existent, surrounding page). Take care, this opens the window without frame and toolbar (closable by ALT-F4).
To get a 100% screen (with toolbar, frame etc), you have to calculate the clients resolution before, using JS for example. So you would need to build a workaround, for example an iView with no output but opening a new window with a certain NavURL as target.

You can probably force it where you want it with a keyboard shortcut

Strange behavior when I try to match a mpeg2 video with the menu size image

hello all,
got a strange behavior when I try to match a mpeg2 video with the menu size image,
menu size is 1920 x 1080 (photoshop file)
mpeg2 video 1920 x 1080 (1second 19 frames)
the idea is to go from the menu link to the next sub menu with a video as transition, using the same image on the video as the menu and then zooming in (in my case through a door) to end up after the zoom in the next level menu.
I try to achieve a smooth change from the first play menu picture to the video image into the next level menu picture,
everything works good but when I watch it on the preview mode on the left and right side of the video it shows a black bar at least 15 to 25 pixel wide, that means the video image appears smaller and it causes a little jump what is preety disturbing and can not be sold as a professional work.
why encore treats the video size and picture differently?
it's gratful appreciated if somebody who got experience in a transition I mentioned obove posting any solution,

Hi all
I'm having a very similar problem with Encore. My menu items are distorting (a minor but infuriating squashing top and bottom) when previewed.
Using Encore,PS,AE CS4
DVD format SD PAL DV widescreen
I created 3 menu frameworks and 3 video transistions to link them in AE. On the final frame of each transistion in AE I saved the frame with Composition>Save Frame to> Photoshop Layers. In PS i added the button functionality and saved.
In Encore I use Dynamic link to import AE transistions as timelines and imported each PS menu twice, once as "menu" and once as an asset.
When I link the timeline transistions to the menu and preview at the point the menu begins the whole image is squashed. When the next transistion is activated the image returns to its original size.
Thinking it was the use of PS that was causing the menus to distort I used the menu asset directly in the time line. Obviously no menu functionality but also no distortion. The AE transistion flowed straight into the "menu" just as I expected.
In the properties panel the menu Aspect Ratio 16:9
The AE transistions PAR is SD PALwidescreen 1.4587.
I did try the Blu Ray suggestion above but the same distortion was apparent.
Any suggestions short of squashing the video to match the menu would be welcomed.

Grey Screen when opening a old or new project in CS 5.1....I can then click on the outside of the screen and see the project screen but as soon as I release the mouse button it goes grey again. Any ideas?

Does turning off OpenGL in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Strange problem when opening word doc situated in WLS virtual dir

Hi all,
we have a strange problem when opening word doc
situated in C:\Oracle\Middleware\as_1\forms\webutil
we put some word docs there and tried to open from forms using for example web.show_document('http://wp0606:9001/forms/webutil/mug00103.doc', '_blank');
no problem using FF, however in IE8 the word doc is shown in its binary format, this also happens when we try to open the doc in IE8
however when we google and search for instance for a test.doc and then click on this url a file save dialog is shown
that's why we believe that this might be due to a configuration issue of WLS
any help would be greatly appreciated

I think you have 2 ways to go here. Figure out what html is from wherever weblogic gets it, meaning you have to delve into the docs, snoop
around in directories and find what it must be sending (This is going to be unavoidable if you are going to change what weblogic is doing.
Sooner or later you have to try to figure out where it gets this stuff from)
or
you can experimentally snoop on your url with a tool like wget or curl. These are fundamental web tools.
The latter is always a useful thing to be able to do. (you need to formulate a query to get the content-type).
Whoever managed to get weblogic to serve any files in the first place probably can figure this out.

The EPCM.doNavigate('target') takes several arguments, one of which let's you specify to open in new window.
EPCM.doNavigate('target',2)
0 (or missing): Same window
1: New window without navigation
2: New window (with navigation)
The API is defined as:
EPCM.doNavigate(String target, [int mode, String winFeat, String winName, int history, String targetTitle, String context])

I would like to open links in a new window but cannot find where to put the setting. Have unchecked the "Open new windows in new tab instead" box in the Options dialog box.

When I click a link on a webpage or other software, I would like for it to open in a completely new window.

You can hold the Shift key and click the left mouse button a link to open that link in a new window.
The setting in Tools > Options > Tabs is only for links that specify a target window and you can divert such a link to a new tab instead.

Open Sub Report in New Window

Hi,
We have an application which is integrated with crystal reports.
So when you open a report from the application it opens up in a new window. (Ours is a web based application and crystal reports opens up in IE browser)
We have some reports which have subreports (on demand ), is there any crystal report configuration through which these subreports can be opened in a new window, as of now they open in the same main report window.

you may wish to look into saving the subreport as a separate report and then:
1) calling the report via opendocument (if your app sits on top of businessobjects enterprise or crystal reports server)
2) calling the report via URL reporting if your app does not utilize the above platforms
i can't guarantee the above will work as it may depend on your environment that you are hosting the reports in.

as per using a subreport and opening in a new window, this doesn't really work.
if you want though, you can use a Report Part link to go from the open subreport back to the main report. please see more on Report Part linking in your crystal report's online help.

Issue while opening Shop Link in New Window

Recently We have upgraded SRM5.0 to 7.0 and now we are using Portal for Front end application. We have configure the SRM appliation in Portal EP 7.0.
Now i can fetch the data from SRM but problem is when i am opening Shop Link ( Employee Self Serviece --> Shopping Area ) in new window then it's navigating to Home Page instead of opening the Shop application.
When i am opening the Shop Link in Content area that time its opening correctly.
Can you please assist us how we can resolve this issue when i am opening Shop link in new window.
