Strange soapUI TimeOut

Dear,
I've a very simple asynchronous scenario: web service -> SAP PO 7.4 -> file.
Without a operation mapping in my ICO object, it performs as expected.
But when I include the operation mapping, containing a graphical message mapping with only 2 fields, I get this error in soapUI:
ERROR:java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out

Any thoughts?
Thanks a lot.

Hi Dimitri,
A message in delivering state cannot be cancel or reprocessed. You need to force into error status. You can achieve this by restarting the java instance.
And if you make changes to the configuration make sure to test with a new message.
Did you try and resend a old message, if so please test with a new message.
Your target is SOAP correct? Please ask the third party to make sure that the service is up and running.
Please also confirm with the network guys that the Firewall Rules have been added to allow communications in and out.
Good luck,
Regards,
Jannus Botha

  • Strange ADS TIMEOUT

    Guru:
    We have a PRD portal (SID=PPP)  whose ADS service is used to print  W2 forms.
    We have done following tests:
    1) ECC(DEV) -> PPP -> 500 W2 forms generated successfully;
    2) ECC(QAS) -> PPP -> 500 W2 forms generated successfully;
    3) ECC(SBOX) -> PPP -> 500 W2 forms generated successfully;
    4) ECC(PRD) -> PPP -> 500 W2 forms are TRUNCATED to 100+ W2 forms at tcode SP01.
    The portal is free of any error. But at ECC(PRD) many dev_rfc## are generated whenever above truncation happens.  The dev_rfc# reads:

  • Strange Gateway Error with one APP Server (WSAETIMEDOUT)

    Hello Everyone,
    We are experiencing a strange gateway timeout issue on one application server in our SAP environment.  This started happening after we applied a series of Microsoft patches and updated the SAP kernals from 179 (DB 172) to 185 (DB 182).
    From this App server we are seeing all kinds of gateway errors, the following is a sample from the dev_rd file from the server in question:

    I have done alot of searching and I have tried the following things:
    1) Checked the services file of this machine, they line up with all other systems
    2) Attempted to telnet to other App servers on 3200, 3300, 3600 with no success
    3) tried to connect via SM59 to another App server with no success
    4) Attempted to do all of these things in reverse from the another app server with the same results.
    This is only happening with one app server in our landscape and this app server has no issues connecting to the CI.
    Any ideas on where I can look further?

    Hi,
    on sappe1exp5  try the following command in a dos prompt:
    telnet sappe1exp4 sapgw00
    this should also time out i.e. hang for a certain amount of time (~50 seconds) and then terminate with error.
    It simply means that the IP address 10.10.0.21 is not reachable from your client PC.
    Maybe you changed some IP addresses during patches. Usually there is an RFC destination that is not functioning properly.
    Best regards

  • Cannot connect to my Server across my network

    Hi
    I have a Mac Mini with Snow Leopard Server preinstalled.
    At this stage, I need my server only to be available on the local network and I am not part of a larger organisation. We have run an informal network in the past through our wireless router but want to use the server within this network mainly for file and print sharing, calendar, contacts and wiki sharing.
    So, the network is as follows:
    Wireless router provides access to the outside world, and provides IP addresses as subnets to the other macs and PCs. All the machines can see each other currently and can share files (permission dependent of course).
    I have setup the new server and it has been given an IP address by the router. When asked to provide a domain name, as we don't currently want to point our internet domain towards this server, I followed the suggestion in the Getting Started guide and entered myserver.private.
    I have activated all services except mail and VPN as I don't intend to host my mail internally and I am not ready to use VPN just yet.
    All the other machines can now see the server - its name shows on all the finders and explorers. However, when we attempt to connect to it, Finder reports Not Connected.
    The admin user for the server is the same as my user on my iMac, but when I attempt to connect my user to the server from the iMac (via the Accounts dialog in System Preferences setting Login Options and connect to Network Account Server), I receive an error stating that the server name cannot resolve. The error number is 2200 - Could not resolve the address. I have tried putting the IP address of the server in as well as the name, but no joy.
    What am I missing? What else do I need to do?
    Thanks in anticipation. Used to support Unix servers machines in the early 90s. But can't remember!

    Here's what worked for me. Sounds like my office is similar to yours.
    By default, the router acquires DHCP onfo from the ISP, including the address of the ISP's DNS servers. By default, each workstation acquires DHCP info (including DNS addresses) from your Router. That means that by default, your workstations contact the ISP's DNS servers directly. Nothing is telling them about the existance of your server, and many of their functions won't see it and won't work properly.
    You have a choice, you can manually configure each workstation to point to your server for their DNS, or you can manually configure the router to hand out your server's address for DNS.
    I prefer the second option, since it requires zero configuration of the workstations, which also means that any time a new workstation comes into your office (laptops, iPhones, etc.) the system just works. Less deskside support burden for you. The workstations contact the router for their DHCP handshake, and are told by the router to contact your server for all DNS inquiries.
    On the server, obviously, you need to make sure that DNS is working correctly. That includes, manually entering your ISPs DNS servers (or any other DNS server you trust, like OpenDNS, Google DNS, etc.) in the Server Admin DNS Settings as the lookup servers (these go in the confusingly named "Forwarder IP Addresses"). Entering multiple external internet DNS servers in this box is acceptable, so you have some "failover" abilities.
    Also, on the server, in System Preferences, you should manually configure the DNS options to point to the server itself. That means that when any random process running on the server needs a DNS lookup, it will use the DNS server running on the server to resolve it.
    The downside of this approach I have described above is that if your server is ever shutdown, none of the macs will "see" the internet. Their macs will go to your server for their DNS inquiries, and receive no response, and get strange errors (timeouts). It means taht if you ever have to do server maintenance, you'll probably have to do it on nights or weekends, or temporarily change your router's DNS settings to point to the outside world DNS servers while your own server is down, and then change the router back afterwards. My server uptime has been very good so far, and this hasn't been a problem at my office.

  • IPod's driving me crazy

    Hi, it's been days since I've been formatting and restoring and uploading my music and then restoring again and so on... Please, help me out of this loop! O__o
    I'll try to be clear.
    the begin:
    My iPod is formatted on Windows, so I can use it both on PC and my iBook.
    After the battery has run down, the artwork didn't show up, so I made a sync with my PC (it had happened before). But error appears, sort of "the data on the file xxx have been lost".
    Those were files on the ipod, not on PC.
    So I decide to restore (on windows) but the updater fails: "Firmware update error", and sad icon on ipod.
    I've read ALL the threads on this topic and followed every advice, but no way. Here's briefly what happens:
    1. impossible to restore the iPod on my PC (though everything's updated: drivers, service pack and so on)
    2. it IS possible to restore it on another PC, but when I go back to MY PC the errors start again: "iPod can't read/write the file" or strange "peripherals timeout" errors.
    3. chkdsk on PC finds errors on the files structure, but the operations doesn't complete due to the usual "timeout error"
    4. impossible to format the ipod using the windows internal tools (they don't start at all, and no message appears to explain)
    5. If i restore the iPod on another PC and then sync it with my iBOOK, everything SEEMS to be okay, but: the artwork takes 5-10 seconds to load and during this time the song skip or doesn't start at all. **No problem if I don't load the artwork*
    6. if I restore it on my iBook there seems to be no error at all (but I haven't tried to fully load my library in this case)
    7. putting iPod in check mode: no errors, even after the HDscan.
    Think I'm going to throw my pod out the window :-S

    I'm doing a little bump here and update my situation just in case someone comes around and drops a good advice, this time
    I've formatted my PC harddisk and done a complete re-installing of Windows, drivers, system updates and so on.
    But the PC still won't WRITE to my iPod. Not even for a software restore.
    Again, I had to restore it on another PC. When back to my PC it is possible to read from it, but not WRITE to it: when I try to do so, iTunes simply hangs until some error message appear: "impossible to write" or "timeout write error: the data have been lost" or some other "corrupted file" error.
    (The "corruption" --it's now clear-- depends on the fact that the writing process it's not been completed)
    If I run CHKDSK it always ends with: Corrupted sectors, impossible to write in the boot section.
    Anyway the iPod works perfectly if formatted on mac, with my iBook, only I need to make it work with my PC, since I have all my music library there.
    Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Strange fc scsi_vhci timeouts during heavy disk activity

    After a recent hardware upgrade, I noticed strange timeouts while replicating a zfs pool under Solaris 11. They all look similar to:
    Mar 23 04:33:20 dl585 scsi: [ID 243001 kern.warning] WARNING: /scsi_vhci (scsi_vhci0):
    Mar 23 04:33:20 dl585 /scsi_vhci/disk@g2000001862b56107 (sd33): Command Timeout on path fp4/disk@w2200001862b56107,0
    I have played with setting various kernel parameters such as the following with no improvement.
    * sd_io_time
    * zfs_vdev_max_pending
    * sd_max_throttle
    Most of the changes were visible in iostat, but still caused the timeouts. I thought the timeouts only started yesterday, but I see from /var/adm/messages that they have been going back at least a week, showing up here and there. When this happens, the machine effectively freezes for up to a minute then the timeout clears and things start back up again.
    The following dtrace program (which I grabbed off the interweb; not sure from where) shows a retry when the machine stops, which corresponds to 100% busy of one or more disks for about 60 seconds.
    #!/usr/sbin/dtrace -s
    #pragma D option quiet
    dtrace:::BEGIN
         printf("Tracing... output every 10 seconds.\n");
    fbt::sd_set_retry_bp:entry
         @[xlate <devinfo_t *>(args[1])->dev_statname,
         xlate <devinfo_t *>(args[1])->dev_major,
         xlate <devinfo_t *>(args[1])->dev_minor] = count();
    tick-10sec
         printf("\n%Y:\n", walltimestamp);
         printf("%28s %-3s,%-4s %s\n", "DEVICE", "MAJ", "MIN", "RETRIES");
         printa("%28s %-03d,%-4d %@d\n", @);
         trunc(@);
    The machine is a HP DL585 G2 with 24GB of RAM. The i/o is fibre channel from 2x Qlogic 2342 dual port 2gb HBAs (4x 2gb ports). The HBAs feed a Silkworm 3200 and 3250, which in turn connect to two A5200 arrays each in split loop mode (8x 1gb loops). The arrays house 44 total disks roughly split between 15k and 10k spindles.
    I do not recall seeing this on a previous v40z server which was replaced three weeks ago with the DL585. It almost seems like the server is overwhelming the arrays but I cannot confirm why or how to stop it.
    Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this or how to troubleshoot it further?
    Thanks,
    Marty

    I know this is an old thread, but there is precious little information out there, so maybe this will help the next guy. After studying mode page settings, it seems that ARRE and AWRE set to one have reduced (but not eliminated) the timeouts. I have played with a LOT of settings. After globally setting the values as described below, the timeouts have been reduced. Prior to setting the values, the drives were a mixed bag of values.
    bash-4.1$ for d in /dev/rdsk/c0t2*d0; do sudo sdparm -S -s AWRE=1 $d; done
    bash-4.1$ for d in /dev/rdsk/c0t2*d0; do sudo sdparm -S -s ARRE=1 $d; done
    If anyone else knows of good ways to reduce these timeouts (on drives that otherwise appear OK), please speak up.
    Thanks,
    Marty

  • Strange powerpill error - aria2 timeouts all the time [SOLVED]

    Just installed Arch on a new machine and can't seem to get powerpill working.  I installed it and simply commented out the reflect -l 45 line in the /etc/powerpill.conf as I do on all my machines and I also uncommented the Aria2Clean.  When I try to d/l packages via powerpill -S package, I get timeout errors after a good 60 sec.  I'd post the whole output, but I have to type this from a pic of the screen!  The basic error looks like this:

    @Xyne - I uncommented the Log = /var/log/powerpill.log line as well as the aria2 line, and ran a powerpill -Syu which experienced the same timeouts.  Odd thing is that it never wrote a /var/log/powerpill.log at all.  I did get the aria2.log which I'll paste here:

  • Keithley 2000: Strange timeouts

    Halloechen!
    I have to read multiple values from a Keithley 2000 (DC volts data),
    and even that has to be done multiple times. So I did the
    following:
    1. ke2000 Initialize.vi
    2. ke2000 Configure DC volts.vi (no parameters, only "DC Volts"
    selected from the pull down menue)
    3. In a loop:
    a) ke2000 Configure Trigger.vi with a proper calculation of the
    timeout (taken from a Keithley example code)
    b) ke2000 Data Read Multiple.vi (with the correct number of
    readouts)
    c) ke2000 Reset.vi
    4. ke2000 Close.vi
    Unfortunately, with this programming I get timeouts regularly.
    Well, not always but every other measurement say. If I increase the
    timeout time, it simply takes longer, but the timeout is inevitable.
    When it
    happens, the Keithley seems to be unable to leave 3 b).
    Then I created a WHILE loop that repeats the measurement if there
    was a timeout. But the loop is repeated until I stop the program.
    However: If I take the initialisation vi *within* the loop, it
    works! I still get timeouts, but now it cleanly repeats the
    measurement and proceeds.
    But this is neither elegant nor fast. Apparently some delays are
    missing. Does anybody know where to put them? Where is the
    critical phase for the instrument?
    Or is it something different?
    Thank you!
    Tschoe,
    Torsten.

    I find this rather interesting. I ahve some older drivers for the KE2000 and they work without problem. But when I seen your question it rasised an interest because you said DC volts from the pull down. I went and downloaded the drivers from NI and installed them wrote just a simple program from them and sure enough the problem is there just like you said it was. I also found that if you do not use the initialize vi it works fine without the timeouts. Seems that the initialize vi is putting the instrument in a funny mode. Anybody have any Idea of wht this is happening.Will do some investigating and get back to you.

  • Session timeout + strange characters

    Hello. We're working in a G4 eMac, OS 10.3.9. We are having two issues that probably are not related (?) but let's give it a shot:
    1. This just started happening a couple of weeks ago. Odd characters are suddenly displaying in our browsers (chiefly at amazon.com), as follows:
    Plot Keywords: Based On Novel | Tap Dancing | Broadway New YorkÂ
    I've flushed the caches, checked display preferences, fonts, character palettes, and nothing changes. Could this be an amazon.com issue (their "help" is less than helpful)?
    2. For the past month, in all browsers, we frequently cannot log in to certain sites, generally financial ones (tdwaterhouse, for example). When we input our user id and password and click login, it acts like it's going to log in to the account... and then times out, with a message like "Your session has timed out."
    This last might be related to the difficulty we have logging in to our USPS account and successfully printing Priority Mail labels.
    I did see a related post here that suggested removing the system.keychain file from the library, and restarting -- we did this and it's still the same.
    Thanks for any ideas!
    Donna

    Normally this is an encoding issue. You might try switching to UTF-8 or Western (ISO) in View > Text Encoding and see if it goes away. It could be that particular pages you are viewing have lost their encoding markers (or gotten misencoded), or that the default encoding for your browser (Preference > Appearance) has gotten changed.

  • Very Strange #1503 Script Timeout Error...

    So I created an as3 flash 9 app under Windows using cs3.
    Worked great ... until I tested it on Mac. It crashes both safari
    and firefox only on macs.
    I decided to load it up in cs3 on Mac. I received some errors
    about the fonts not being available, so I changed them to default
    _sans or whatever and thought I had solved my problem. I tried
    "Test Movie" and got the following:
    Error: Error #1503: A script failed to exit after 30 seconds
    and was terminated.
    at flash.errors::ScriptTimeoutError$iinit()
    at flash.display::MovieClip$iinit()
    The weird thing was that it wasn't even running 1 second when
    this was output.
    It gets better though, I delete all the actionscript, and
    every layer (added a blank layer) in the movie, and all the assets
    and I STILL GET THIS ERROR!
    Whats going on? I'd rather I didn't have to recreate all the
    layers and copy over the actionscript to a new movie .... maybe
    there is a setting somewhere? Maybe its related to the font
    problem? This is my first flash movie and I'm not sure where to
    look at this point, google didn't help at all...
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks OMW_Support. That was real neat support. Thanks, it worked!
    Essentially, OMW gives an error if you try to install it into 7.3.4 home, so I had actually installed it into a different home. But while running the startOMW script, as you pointed out the ORACLE_HOME variable was set to 7.3.4; changed it to the second ORACLE_HOME and it worked.
    Kind regards
    Manu

    The installer will install the required 8.1.7. client libraries and you can then use it to migrate to an Oracle8 or Oracle8i database. The key issue here is that when the Installer asks you to select or enter an Oracle Home, that you enter a new Oracle Home. (If you already had 8.1.7, then you'd have been able to install into an existing 8.1.7 Oracle Home. However, because you are not, then you need to install into a separate Oracle Home).
    ORACLE_HOME needs to point to this new Oracle Home when starting the Migration Workbench. Your log shows that it is pointing to an Oracle 7.3 home, which is incorrect.
    Please note that the Migration Workbench only supports migrations to Oracle8 and Oracle8i.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

  • Timeout from OSB to Intalio

    Hi
    In my project, Intalio calles services hosted on OSB. The read timeout set in Intalio is 6 minutes (360 seconds).
    OSB calls backend and sends response back to Intalio server within 10 seconds. We logged both request and response payloads in OSB and confirmed this.
    Strangely, most of the times Intalio does not receive the response at all! After waiting for 6 minutes, it throws read timeout error.
    Test run: We had a run of 21 requests from Intalio to OSB. All 21 processed inside OSB and logs show that responses was sent back for all 21 requests. But in Intalio we received only one response and all other instances threw timeout error.
    Whenever Intalio requests are invoked, they are passed to OSB immediately. There is no lag between requests passed from Intalio to OSB. But somehow we don't get any response from OSB even after 6 minutes.
    Any idea on this?

  • Timeout of one session destroys the other

    Hi folks,
    I got a strange problem regarding sso and session lifew time, which drives me crasy.
    Well, I got two web apps which use FORM authentication which I like to use with sso enabled.
    sso seems to work fine for my two web-apps App-A and App-B, but when I close App-B, it happens that I have to login to App-A again, after a while.
    It looks as if the session times out even if I continue to work with the application.
    Once again. If I do the following steps:
    1. Starting App-A and login
    2. Starting App-B from App-A (it is linked there)
    3. Closing the browser window ([X] -Button) of App-B
    4. Going on to use App-A
    Than, after a while, I fall back to the login form of App-A, suddenly. The timespan until I have to login again seems to be the timeout of App-B
    How the hell can this be?!?

    OK, this is a very old thread and many things have changed since then.
    In the simplest case, you can just add a bit more logic for the third slider and expand on the above example by tst. Should be trivial. Have you tried?
    If you have LabVIEW 8.0 or higher, you could wrap the entire thing in an Xcontrol. This has the advantage that there will be no visible code on the diagram and the limits are even enforced if you change the sliders in edit mode.
    Maybe you don't need any of this. You could just have a control with three sliders, then sort the three outputs before handing them off to the rest of the code (See attached, LabVIEW 7.0).
    LabVIEW Champion . Do more with less code and in less time .

  • SG300 ssh strange error: "A client is already connected"

    Hi,
    I've  got a few SG300-52 switches running software version  1.3.0.62 which I configured for ssh management access with public key  authentication via:
    ip ssh server
    ip ssh pubkey-auth auto-login
    username mgmt password ... privilege 15
    crypto key pubkey-chain ssh
    user-key mgmt rsa
    key-string ...
    This is working fine if I connect interactively from my management system with:
    ssh -i mgmt_id_rsa mgmt@switch
    where mgmt_id_rsa is the name of a file containing the private key.
    I get a privileged command prompt as intended, without being asked for a password.
    However if I try to pass a command on the ssh command line like this:
    ssh -i mgmt_id_rsa mgmt@switch show version
    the command just hangs until I hit the Enter key a second time, and then emits the strange message:
    Received disconnect from 10.11.12.13: 2:
    A client is already connected
    (Exactly like that, including the line break after the "2:" and the blank before "A client".)The same happens if I pipe the command I want to send into ssh like this:
    echo show version | ssh -i mgmt_id_rsa mgmt@switch
    except the error message appears immediately and I don't have to hit Enter a second time.
    This is unfortunate as the objective of the whole exercise is to send commands to the switch from a script.
    Can anyone shed some light on why this is so? What is that strange message "a client is already connected" trying to tell me? Is that another bug in Cisco's ssh implementation? Ideas for a workaround, anyone?
    Thanks,
    Tilman
    PS: I already asked that question over in the "big business" support community before noticing there's a separate small business section, but got no answer there.
    PPS: The real objective of the exercise is to make scripted backups and updates of the switches' configurations, ie. what would be naturally expressed as
    scp -i mgmt_id_rsa mgmt@switch:running-config /var/backup/switch.config
    and
    scp -i mgmt_id_rsa /var/conf/switch.configchange mgmt@switch:running-config
    except it doesn't work that way because the SG300's ssh server lacks scp support. Trying to replace that by
    ssh -i mgmt_id_rsa mgmt@switch copy running-config scp://server/var/backup/switch.config
    and
    ssh -i mgmt_id_rsa mgmt@switch copy scp://server/var/conf/switch.configchange running-config
    led me straight to the problem above. Just in case someone feels inclined to ask the standard forum question: "Why do you want that anyway?" :-)

    Hi all,
    I've improved my expect script a bit to:
    allow specifying the SSH user and keyfile on the command line
    allow sending configuration mode commands
    correctly handle very long commands (line wrap) and commands producing no output
    Extended usage:
    ciscosb-exec confuser@myswitch -i ~/.ssh/confuser_id_rsa -c "ip ssh-client username memyself"
    ciscosb-exec confuser@myswitch -i ~/.ssh/confuser_id_rsa "copy scp://myserver/workdir/myswitch.configchange running-config"
    The "new and improved" script:
    #!/usr/bin/expect
    # Script to run an IOS command on a Cisco Small Business Switch via ssh
    # Prerequisites:
    # - Cisco Sx300 series switch with software version 1.3 or later
    # - public key authentication with auto-logon configured
    # Usage:
    #   ciscosb-exec [] [@]
    # Args:
    #         username on switch
    #         name or IP address of switch
    #      command string to execute
    # Options:

  • I'm having strange random connection failures. Are there ineffieciency in my config?

    I've been having strange, random connection failures and I'm trying to eliminate possible causes.
    What happens is while I'm browsing on the net over wifi, a link will at random not connect to the site, but instead fault to the ISP error page. It happens with highly reliable sites like google, or ebay, or whatever. If I direct connect to the cable modem, the problem site is immediately available.
    I'm sitting <6 feet from a 871W router (with antenna). There's one router in my building and others are at my neighbors.
    Below is the conf file. Just to imagine how rediculious this problem is, here's a screen shot from a web page. This shows a web page I visited, and after clicking on a link (an embedded youtube video), the error showed up within the page itself.
    Why would only some URLs fail to connect? Is there inefficiencies in my config?

    I removed the ip router 0 0 to no great effect, which I consider to be a win.
    I'm guessing that since overload is what--I understand--translates the one outside to the many inside IPs, that the suggestion to have only one overload configured means I should combine the two ip ranges into one.
    I deleted 10.0.0.0 network. Changed the bridge references to 1 and vlan references to 1. Now wifi and ethernet should all be using the same internal network? That's the idea, right? Any more fat?

  • Timeout for content

    Hello
    9iAS with Portal 9.0.2 in Sun Solaris
    I am working with Oracle Reports Builder and Oracle Portal.
    I've saved my reports with JSP extension.
    So, I've made some portlets with these reports into PEOPLE_APP db provider.
    Now, when I run my pages with these portlets, some times (most of times) the following error appears instead of the report:
    Timeout for content=[any_number]
    I've already researched in OTN and Metalink forums, I've changed my zone.properties and http.conf files, but it didn't resolve my problem.
    So, what else I need to do in order to solve my problem? Any other ideas?
    Thanks.
    P.S: We've sent lots of questions with no satisfactory response from Oracle.
    We've noticed that Oracle provided extremely poor support.
    Maybe this isn't a good solution. Maybe there isn't a solution, at least in this way.
    Take a look in some fragments of messages, found in OTN and Metalink forums:
    "I've increased the timeout but that doesn't help.
    It's also very strange that after rebooting the server in Portal 3.0.8/ias1.0.2.1 my pages appeared in 10-20 seconds and now in Portal 3.0.9/ias1.0.2.2 it takes two to four minutes. And this slow performance is only while retrieving the page for the first time. The second time I retrieve a page it's there in a few seconds.
    So, I do not think it has anything to do with the provider's timeout...."
    "But maybe it's the Portal-schema itself which causes this problem. I heard someone saying that he missed indexes after a Portal-upgrade --> maybe this is my problem too, although i didn't have any error-messages in the upgrade-logfiles...."
    "Unfortunately we did not yet solve these timeout problems. Oracle is currently studying several logfiles and traces.
    At first we thought that we had the timeout problems only after starting up the server. But now we noticed that the timeouts are repeated after 5 to 7 days. For some reason it looks as if Portal is refreshing the cache at that moment, but we can not find anywhere a refreshperiod of 120 hours or so..."
    "Having wrestled with these Timeout errors for months with no satisfactory response from Oracle, I came across someone's solution yesterday and, for me, it worked immediately. Please keep in mind before doing this that it is in direct opposition to what the new "Troubleshooting Issues in Oracle9iAS Portal Architecture and Performance (3.0.9.8.2)" whitepaper states....."
    "After many many performance problems and timeouts issues which Oracle provided extremely poor support we finally learned that all of our problems where related to the same things - Oracle has not tuned this product before shipping it. Numerous little bugs and coding errors were a small part of the fixes. The real problem is that all the indexes have subscriber id as the first column which is always set to one and is not used in the majority of querys which makes these indexes useless for performance... (http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_gui.startup)"
    "Sr. Oracle how long do I need to wait for real solutions? (http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_gui.startup)"

    You must have registered some provider for your portlets. Go to adminstration screens of portal. Goto edit provider from there and increase the portlet timeout.
    Also change the time out value in your provider.xml for the corresponding JSPs.
