Strange things after -Syu
just did pacman -Syu and rebooted ... now every time i open a terminal (urxvt and xterm) this happens...
everything else seems to work fine. it's only the terminal that does this.
below is my /var/log/pacman.log from today. i noticed that several things from xorg were replaced / installed.
anyone have any idea how to fix it.

You can try. I'd refer you to ATI wiki for specifics. I tried disabling KMS, enabling KMS, changing driver...
And as loafer suggests do some searching in the forum. I've seen posts w/people having a similiar problem as this.

Everything seems to be working normal except the desk top BBC iPlayer which plays fine in a small window but when you go to full screen still plays the sound but the screen just goes black, no video?
I thought maybe the update knocked off one of the plugins or players but reinstalled iPlayer and same problem, anyone got a workaround or suggestion as to how I can fix it, am I the only one?
Full screen YouTube works fine.
Everything else seems ok, maybe running a little hotter and the fans are kicking in a little sooner but does feel a little snappier.

Strange things after updating.
I just found out that whenever i plug in my 30GB iPod Photo, it shows the icon on the desktop, it updates whatever it needs to then the icon disappears from the desktop, as if i had taken it out, but it still shows in iTunes that it's hooked up.
Check whether disk mode on the iPod tab in iTunes preferences is enabled. If disk mode is enabled, the iPod should stay mounted on the desktop after the sync is finished, otherwise it'll disappear.

Strange thing after upgrade to LR 5 last evening....
Purchased a full version LR 5 last night and installed. Directly below the Histogram for EVERY Image in my Catalogue it states: "! Photo is missing" however it ISN'T missing, all the previous adjustments are still there and any of them will open up in Photoshop as well. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers,

Now, I'm sure I could have WORSE problems as all of the Processing has remained intact on everything I've looked at but here's the rub....
If the Photo WAS missing I couldn't make any further changes with the sliders, which I CAN.... and it certainly wouldn't open up in Photoshop.

The groups I had set up disappeared and the Group button is gone.
When I first open the app, it opens 8 - 12 separate windows with 1 blank tab. The orange Firefox button is there with nothing else on that bar. Also, 3 tool bars are blank (i.e. space is there but it's just grey) with NO buttons.
If I want my previously opened tabs, I have to use the "Recently Closed windows" option to get back to where I was when I last closed down. The orange Firefox button is missing from this window but all the original menu items are back across the top.
So how do I get back to the way it is supposed to operate?Have a look here

strange things with keyboard happens on my macbook - after cleaning keyboard (rag with spirit) I start mac and get sticky key (continuously type one letter and beeping on speaker). I shutdown mac, remove key and clean space under it... it helps - but I found other strange bug:
pressing left shift - gives me capital letter "O"
letter "O" - always capitalized
| symbol always comes with return button
now I use external keyboard - all good on it... but macbook keyboard still wont work properly
what can it be? how fix it?
ps: sorry for my engthanks for your reply, and you might be right about using USB v2.0. The PS/2-USB adapters I am using are v.1.0 so may be incompatible, even though this technology is supposed to be backward-compatable.
Since this problem reared its ugly head, I have disabled the Toshiba applications and monitored the situation - OK so far, but I will keep an eye on it. -

Strange things happen: mail appears in "drafts"/mail disappears after "send"/title-content doesn't match
I'm having some Problems with mails that get worse and worse
First thing I remember is, that I found mails in "Drafts" that weren't drafts, but just mails I received or mails I sent.
They were kind of aliasses of the original. Deleting them in "Drafts" deleted the original in its Mailbox too.
Re-indexing Mail (removing the envelope.index files etc.) fixes it, but it reappears very soon
Next thing:
When I send an email, it happens sometimes, that it is not send (no sending sound, no copy in the "Sent"-Folder). It just "disappears"
Re-indexing Mail fixes this: When Mail is ready with reindexing, it sends those messages (kind of funny, when I do this reindexing after some weeks... kind of...) - but it will reappear
The third thing happens more seldom:
When I klick on the emails name in the list, I get another Mail shown in the Previewbox. Doubleklicking the mail shows the wrong mail too.
Re-indexing fixes this, - but it will reappear
Well after having re-indexd my Mail library 10 times this week, I want another solution for this...

Things I've already done:
Reindexing mail, as I already wrote (Quit mail, removing the files "Envelope Index" and "Envelope Index-1", and the folder starting with "Mac-", then start Mail again, that tells me to klick "ok" for reimporting the mail)
I deleted a bunch of emails with attachements, so there are just a few with attachment now.
I emptied the "Sent" folder and put those old emails in 3 Folders (each of them is containing about 500 mails now)

PS: Yes, I want to keep all these old mails...This is not a security risk - a setting change you should make.
1. Take a look in settings - i message and see what the 'recieve at' addresses are declared. If you do not want to see phone messages on the pad, clear that number out of there - and just use your e mail address.
2. Since you used to have an i phone, that device is likely still registered go to your i tunes account and de register the device. -

Hi, i use my new iphone 5 since a weekswith iOS 6.1.4, and so far i found to bugs, first bug, i'am most of the time on Airplane mode (for my convenience..) if someone let me a voicemail and after i listen it when i go back to Airplane mode i have a red icon just like i have a new Voicemail un listened, i get out of airplane mode and no more voicemail, i can do that many time alway red icon on airplane mode and in fact no new voicemail when not in airplane mode..
Ieven try to delete the voicemail i have listen but i still have this red icon on voicemail and i go on airplane mode.. only 2 solutions for now, go on deleted voicemail and delete them from recycle bin, or a Real iPhone reboot (press 10 sec on start button...) i never had this problem on older iOS version on my iPhone 4..
Second bug, i get sometime since 2 weeks i have a almost black screen, then i go on general > brightness and wallpapper and i see that brightness become set to almost 0, so i move the cursor to around 80 %, next day again same thing, so i uncheck auto adjustment and now it work, auto adjustment is cool and alway worked fine on my old version iOS on iphone 4, if you can fix that..
Also as i talk to you (hope you read ;-) some impression, i prefer by Far the old Keypadto make a dial compare to new one who look B@d to me...

and i made a mistake, /sbin/shutdown was there, but when i typed "shutdown -h now" it says that "shutdown" is an unknown command. (i just had that error again!). root uses bash as default shell... it didnt work in tty, it didnt work in urxvt, this time i typed /sbin/shutdown -h now and that worked... but its still not like it should be. And it doesnt explain the random corruption of packages...

Same problem with any other files out of /sbin... the strange thing is, in /etc/profile, $PATH looks like this:
/bin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/opt/bin:/home/jan/bin:/usr/local/bin
but echo $PATH gives me:
./:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin

Strange fonts after updating os-x
after updating to os 10.4.9. safari shows strange fonts (looks like outtaspace) on some websites. not on all websites. also apples mail is displaying these strange things in the adress lines. choosing different fonts (f.e.helvetica) in safaris preferences doesnt helped. any tips to resolve this spacy letters ???

Welcome to Apple Discussions
The two fonts that seem to adversely affect Safari are Helvetica Fractions and Times Phonetic.
Open Font Book in your Applications folder. Enter either of these names in the spotlight panel. If either appears, disable it via the Edit menu. If neither is in your system, please provide a screenshot of the font type.
If the above referenced fonts applies to your situation, download a copy of Font Finagler. This will allow you to clean the Font cache.
When done, restart the computer/Safari. -
Help! Strange things happen when I use Get Info command
Hi, I have updated iTunes for 7.7.1, and since then a strange thing happen: whenever I pick a Smart Playlist, select a song and use the Command-I, the Get Info screen appears for a few seconds, and then the "Cancel" button is highlighted, as if I had clicked on it, and the screen is closed.
Funny thing is that I am not clicking the "Cancel" button, but it happens automatically after a few seconds, and only with songs in the Smart Playlists. I haven't found a thing about it at the Discussion forums, can anyone help?In iTunes, right click on the file and Get Info.
Make sure it is marked Remember Playback Position. -
Strange things are happening to my MacBook. Please help.
Since buying my first MacBook nearly two years I have not had a single problem with it until earlier this week, when strange things started to happen.
1) The first obvious problem was that my dock lost its settings.
2) Then the green light at the top of the screen was on when I turned on my computer. Although this was resolved by shutting down and restarting, I have no idea why it was on in the first place.
3) Thirdly, my email disappeared from Mail. After exploring, I found out that one of the check boxes in preferences had disabled my account and when I checked it again my email reappeared.
4) And finally, it seems to be getting slower and slower. Whether it is opening a program such as Mail, opening system preferences or restarting, it all seems to be taking longer than I previously remember. However, once things are up and running they are generally fine.
After doing some research I have found two possible fixes: resetting PRAM and resetting the System Management Control. The problem is that although I can read how to do them, I have no idea if they will fix my problems or what the implications of doing either are.
So, do you think it would be a good idea to reset either the PRAM or SMC? If so, which should I do or what order should I do them in?
Also, what, if any, are the risks of doing either? As I understand, my settings for things like the display will be reset but not things like wifi or the firewall, and all my programs, updates and files will remain untouched. Is that correct?
Anyway, I hope that all makes sense and thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer me.

Run the application--it will give a report for your drive's physical health. If you get anything other than "Passed" you will probably need to replace the drive.

Lost all previously sync'd emails and other strange things.....
Yesterday I noticed some odd things on my BB and was wondering if anyone else has experienced anything similar.
1. When I went into my phone to make a call around mid-day, the typical call log file was empty - first strange thing.
2. After I sent an SMS it was in listed in my mail as a sent message but then it would disappear from view. The users received the message but my record of it disappeared without me deleting it.
3. I lost all previously sync'd emails from my corporate email before 4:56 PM yesterday. Although emails from my comcast account which I sync still appeared.
4. When I looked at available memory it was 0% and then it slowly crept up to 14038765 bytes
Based on number 4 above, am I to assume my BB dumped items due to a memory issue?
Understanding that can be the case I am still losing records of IM's received and sent without me deleting them.
Any thoughts from the forum members are welcome.
Lastly - what does Theme Controlled mean under General Options/ SMS and Email Inboxes?

CauseWhen the BlackBerry smartphone becomes critically low on memory, SMS messages and call logs will automatically be deleted in order to keep a minimum amount of free space available. This functionality is by design.
ResolutionIf the BlackBerry smartphone becomes low on memory, try the following:
Check how much memory is currently available. See KB04353 for further information.
Ensure that media is saved on the media card, and not on the BlackBerry smartphone.
Since web browsing results in cached files on the BlackBerry smartphone try clearing the browser cache. See KB03865 for further information.
Lower the reserved picture memory setting. See KB12383 for further information.
Use the application loader tool to remove any unused applications, such as themes, ring tones, or third-party applications.
Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry smartphone. Check the available memory after the hard reset. See KB02141 for further information.

Help needed because of strange things with Lollipop!
Hello everyone. I've updated to Lollipop 5.0.2 .... But some strange things are happening.
I've updated using PC companion. When I finished downloading the update files from the Net
,and I've turned off my phone so the update starts. After 1 minute something wrong went with my
computer. It restarts by itself. So my phone didn't boot anymore. I tried to reupdate it, but
that couldn't be done cause the phone is not booting. So I had one option, which is to do
a system repair to repair my phone. I did it and I succeed. So my phone is now updated to lollipop
, but of course all the data in the phone were wiped out. This is not a problem, I can redownload the apps I want.
The problem is that on Kitkat I used to play a game called ( plants vs zombies ) , but on Lollipop
Whenever I open the game it shuts down after half a minute. I thought the problem was
because I moved it to the SD card, so I moved it to the internal storage of my phone
but no change. It still shuts down by itself.
Another thing is that when I install an app, in normal state there are moving lines from the above
to show that the app is installing . Sometimes those lines disappear , I don't know if this is a problem or not.

Uhm I do not experience the problem anymore it was a long time ago, from where do you download your APK files? I used 1MobileMarket for the download of PvZ2 but I receive updates via Google PlayStore. The only thing I can suggest is that you uninstall it, try downloading it vis 1MobileMarket and see if it works. If not I really don't know what the problem is.. I had my problems with PvZ on the Z, not the Z2, but it was the same you are experiencing with the game. I did notice that whenever I did a factory reset or system repair, I'd lose all my PvZ gaming data although I had my Google Play Account logged it to sync my data. As for the lines while installing the app; If the apps work normal after installing (the lines still didn't show up or disappeared) I don't think it might be such a problem. As long as you can run the apps. Hope this helps!

Minor strange things on CAPS 5.1
I've just install several installation of CAPS and found some strange things among those installations.
- some installations doesnt show the FileeWay icon
- some installations doesnt have the HTML help version of eGate docs.
- some computers with 512 megs RAM are able to install, the others didn't finish uploading modules after more than 3 hours.
Did anybody experienced these?

Not sure what you mean by the "FileeWay icon", but I have seen the Oracle eWay option drop out of the CM screen.
One thing about your last statement about not being able to upload components. I have found that the following registry entry seems to clear up these issues if you are using IE:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
"SocketSendBufferLength"=dword:00008000Just paste this into a file with a .reg extension, save and then run it. I think you will be pleased with the result!

Strange things happening with fonts?!?
Some strange things are happening with fonts. The following
picture shows part of the problem. This is only occuring with IE 6.
It doesn't happen in IE 7 or the current firefox. The information
in the silver and white box is the problem. This is being pulled
via spry and being displayed via a div tag. It shouldn't be bold
faced. No code is telling it to bold face, yet it is.

which has several workarounds which include setting the background
color on whatever it is your are fading, or making sure that after
the effect is done (via a finish function) making sure to remove
any opacity related style on the element you just faded in.
