Is it possible for me to stream data from a jdbc connection through a
webservice to the caller?

Sure. However, you need to model data you need to stream. You can use javax.xml.ws.Provider interface support in JAX-WS but u need to convert your relational data to XML to stream across.

A2dp streaming to mac mini possible?

i have 10.5.7 installed, and have my mac mini hooked up in the living room to my stereo music system which includes some pretty kickass speakers. With the new iphone 3.0 software now supporting a2dp streaming, as well as having a macbook with some of my music, is it possible to setup a2dp streaming from iphone to mac mini so that my music plays through mac mini to my stereo system? i can see so many uses for them, guests with their iphones with music, plus my gf has her macbook with her own music, and i know i can do some form of library sharing, but it would be much much simpler for her to simply be able to connect via bluetooth and stream music over bluetooth rather than use her macbook while at the same time using kb and mouse fo mac mini to stream her music, too complicated for her to bother with it.
also no, i cant and do not want to buy an airport extreme, mainly because i alreayd hvae too many wires in the living room and am trying my best to cut down on them, secondly because i dont want to spend 150-200$ on it, and thirdly my mac mini connects with my stereo via a usb dac, and theres no input to be able to plug in a separate music bluetooth receiver.
this doesnt jsut have to apply to streaming from iphone or macbook, its a general leopard/software question on how to go about accomplishing something like this.

As you have already figured out poor signal strength equals poor bandwidth performance. This, of course, will be noticeable for both audio and video streaming.
I suggest downloading a copy of iStumbler. Use iStumbler's Inspector feature (select Edit > Inspector from iStumbler's menu) to determine the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) at different points around your house, by performing a simple RF site survey. Within the Inspector, note the values for "signal" & "noise" at these locations. Start with your MacBook near the Time Capsule (TC), note the readings, and then, go to the location where you currently have the Mac Mini.
SNR is the signal level (in dBm) minus the noise level (in dBm). For example, a signal level of -53dBm measured near an access point and typical noise level of -90dBm yields a SNR of 37dB, a healthy value for wireless LANs.
The SNR, as measured from the MacBook, decreases as the range to the base station increases because of applicable free space loss. Also an increase in RF interference from microwave ovens and cordless phones, which increases the noise level, also decreases SNR.
SNR Guideline
o 40dB+ SNR = Excellent signal
o 25dB to 40dB SNR = Very good signal
o 15dB to 25dB SNR = Low signal
o 10dB to 15dB SNR = Very low signal
o 5dB to 10dB SNR = No signal
If the SNR is 20dB+ at the Mac Mini, then you should be getting reasonable performance from your TC. If less, either try to locate the source of the Wi-Fi interference or try relocating either the TC or the Mac Mini until they are within a 20dB SNR range.
Another option is to utilize a transceiver on the Mac Mini to try to increase the Mini's built-in AirPort antenna ability to pick up the signal from the TC. One vendor that provides these is QuickerTek.

Stream from foreign server possible?

I need to be 100% sure whether or not the following scenario is possible within Adobe Flash Player / Adome Media Server security contrains:
website and swf file are hoted on server with given IP number xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
media and streaming application are hosted on server with IP number yyy.yyy.yyy.yyy
generally speaking:
will yyy media server accept connection from xxx client ?
will xxx client accept streams from yyy server ?
I urgently need this information as I need to decide some specific media streaming solution for the customer.
Of course - I mean both servers being hosted (virtual) services rented by the customer at third party provididers.
Please feedback asap!

Yes this should not be an issue , a client from "xxx" can connect to FMS at "yyy" and stream the data. There should not be problem at both ends.

Streaming swf - is it possible?

i've been using capitvate to create an online user guide -
but the files are rather chunky...
can i stream a swf file, like i would video? is this
possible?

as far as i know it is not possible. you can convert it to
flv and then stream it using the FLVPlayback component.

Is it possible to play a youtube video for example during a conference? I can share my screen, but the audio does not pass through. Anyone have any success doing this?

Streaming-Sync is it possible?

I was looking all over for an answer to this issue im having. I have my ATV set to stream all my media content. The thing is, when ever there is a new Podcast that has been downloaded to iTunes I have to click the sync button to make my ATV see it. Are there any settings in iTunes or ATV that will make the ATV see my newly downloaded podcasts without me actually going to my computer to sync them? I highly doubt there is because I swear I went through every setting atleast a dozen times. On a seperate note, is there a terminal command that I can run to make iTunes sync?

So if I just let my ATV just sit there it will eventually sync up with my primary iTunes library without me hitting the sync button?

I do operate a little trick (if that's the right phrase) to ensure that my library gets updated regularly, you may be able to do something similar.
I have an eyetv stick which records tv programs and encodes them for the tv and adds them to itunes for me. I have selected one of the shows (which has an airing every night) to sync to the tv (all my others are streamed) using the '1 most recent' option.
As a result of this, each night after the show airs and the encoded file is added to itunes, the tv is automatically updated to reflect that there is now a more recent show to sync, syncing occurs immediately the show is added to itunes and of course every other change to the library is also updated at the same time.

Hi all,
After recently implementing Lync in our environment, i was asked a question by one of the users.
"Why cant Lync stream video files during conferences like Webex"
I researched a lot, even tried to embed files in powerpoint but there are a lot of restrictions and limitations and so on...
On the other hand, alternative solutions like webex and PGI are very much capable of providing this feature. which brings me to this discussion:
"REPLY TO THIS POST TO LET MICROSOFT KNOW THIS FEATURE IS IMPORTANT AND THAT THEY SHOULD ADDRESS IT IN THEIR NEXT RELEASE"

The BPM API exposes a IBPMOrganizationService that can be leveraged to maniuplate OU's - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/apirefs.1111/e25378/toc.htm. You could write some logic and deploy it as a WSDL.

Live Stream with Slideshow (jpg), possible?

Hi guys,
I'm wondering if the live encoder has the ability to sync images with a live stream. I'd like to store all the images in one folder and push through a call on each slide during the presentation for the image to appear on screen. Obviously it'll never be 100% live but a little delay isn't a problem.
Accordent currently do this with PresenterPlus but i'm in search of a flash version which seems to be Live Encoder minus the slideshow.

On the Macintosh side there is the Camtwist app which allows you to do this and it works smoothly with FMLE. On the PC side I´m not sure but there just got to be more apps capable of this than on the mac side.

Streaming via 3G not possible?

I thought (but didn’t check) that one of the benefits of Match would be that I could stream my entire music collection to my iOS 6 iPhone any place any time anywhere so long as I had WiFi or 3G connectivity. It will stream or download by WiFi, and it will download via 3G (with the usual ‘charges may apply’ warning), but it won’t stream by 3G. Pick an album and unless I’ve previously downloaded it, the song-titles are ghosted out. Am I doing something wrong or does Match just not stream over 3G?

Found it! You've got to enable Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Use Mobile Data

Streaming between two host possible

Hy!
I want to prgram an application with takes commands from a different host and send back the result to the host wich had sent the command.
The result can be between 1kb and 5MB. So I don't know how to design the Interfaces on the hosts on both sides.
I've tried a little bit with RMI, but I only Server on the one side, and one Client on the other side. But I think for this case it will be better to implement on both sides Client/Server, so that I can send the result e.g. every 5 kb.
What do you think, is the best way to program.
Using RMI or ordinary Client/Server over Socket, or an other method that is me at time unknown.

If the result is 5Mb, and you send it 5Kb at a time, is there anything you can do with the 5Kb before all the data has arrived?

What is the difference between SWF and F4V in the context of Streaming or progressive Download?

Hello everybody,
I am absolutely a beginner in working with Captivate and furthermore my technological know how is not that good.
So, I have problems to understand if the export formats SWF and F4V are both capable to be published in the Internet as streaming video and as progressive Download? Well so, I do not really understand the difference between streaming and progessive download either?
Furthermore I was asking myself if this issue depends on how I imported flash videos (there are these two options) in my Captivate project during the production phase?
I would be very thankful for some helping information!

I'm not certain I fully understand the differences myself, but will toss out what I believe to be true about the formats. Hopefully, if I'm incorrect in my bellief, someone with more definitive knowledge will chime in.
It was explained to me a couple of years back and is my understanding that "streaming" only applies to a video based format such as F4V, FLV and it doesn't apply to SWF. With SWF, you may specify a preload value. So when the SWF transmits from the web server to the PC, a certain percentage has to be received before play begins. But that's not streaming. It's preloading.
For streaming to occur, the web server establishes a communication channel between the server and the destination PC. This channel is monitored to see what speed is in use. Only enough information is then transmitted to be comfortable at that speed. If the speed improves during the connection, the server serves data at a faster rate. If the connection degrades, the information transmitted is also scaled back so as to accommodate the lower speed.
With SWF, after it has all been downloaded, a savvy user is able to poke around in their temporary internet files and save the SWF for play later. With streaming, this isn't possible because as the stream is viewed, it evaporates from memory.
Seriously hoping others will chime in here to confirm or deny this.

Optimize iMac to stream

I just got my Apple TV and I want to make sure that I set my iMac up to stream as best as possible. Should I turn off my screen saver, shut down other programs, or not allow the iMac to go to sleep? I have watched a few movies and I noticed some choppiness. Will any changes to my computer like those above help out?

as long as you're not using any processor/memory intensive programs while you're streaming it shouldn't be an issue... the real issue will be your network connection bandwidth and any other traffic... however, sleep would cause a problem unless you have it set that the network can wake the computer... i just turn the display off and never sleep.
maxing out your RAM never hurts either but if a good amount is free and you're not taxing the system you should be fine.

Is it possible to add a clip to multiple videos automatically?

There are a few videos, lets say 10, that I want to add a short clip to the end of, before compressing them for web streaming. Is it possible to have Compressor add these clips before compressing them down in filesize?
Or would I have to add each clip manually in Final Cut Pro first, then compress them with Compressor?

Or, you can use QT Pro to concatenate files. Open up the file you want to add to all the others and copy it.
Then open up each file in QT player, move the playhead to the end of the file and select "Add to Movie" from the menu. Then save it.

Calling a Secure (SSL) Webservice

I'm working on an HTMLDB app that needs to call a secure (as in SSL) webservice. If I was hand-coding this in PL/SQL I'd pass the wallet location and password in my calls to UTL_HTTP.REQUEST(...) etc. I assume that somewhere under the covers HTMLDB is calling those same routines.
I'd like to use the HTMLDB WebService Tools if possible, but is there anyway to make them SSL aware? Can I set the wallet location, password for HTMLDB to go look for, or is this just not supported at this time?

   create an object of the method which u want to call e.g:

obj.execute();
