Strugging w/ Apache 2.2 Install of CF8

Hey all -
I'm struggling with a CF8 install on CentOS/Apache 2.2.3.
I've been away from CF for about a year, so I'm a little rusty, but
I can't track this down for the life of me. Here are the highlights
of the install:
1. ColdFusion installs happily.
2. Before starting the server, I edit
/opt/coldfusion8/bin/connectors/apache-connector.sh. Even though I
specified the paths during install, a lingering bug doesn't
properly populate the script with my paths.
3. I start ColdFusion for the first time which executes
cf-connectors.sh.
4. I verify that the JRun info is inserted into my httpd.conf
file. It is.
5. I restart both Apache & ColdFusion to ensure that
everyone's happy. They are.
Once everything's restarted successfully, I try to load
http://mysite/CFIDE/administrator/index.cfm
only to get a prompt asking me whether I'd like to download
index.cfm. I've done about 10 reinstalls at this point and simply
can't find the problem. The relevant outtake from my httpd.conf
file is shown below. In addition, index.cfm was added to my
DirectoryIndex list.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I can't think of
anything else to try.

Thanks, Oguz. The issue, though, is actually even stranger
than that. It works properly on Safari, just not in Firefox. Here's
a blog post that describes _exactly_ what I'm seeing:
http://www.mattwoodward.com/blog/index.cfm?event=showEntry&entryId=1B79EA1E-B9D7-0328-382D 995A3D613FF6
For now, I'm just using Safari. Be nice to know what's going
on, though.

  • OCI8 to existing Apache and PHP install

    Hi
Wonder if anyone can help. I have an Apache server already installed with PHP on my linux system (Ubuntu) and I'd like to add the OCI8 driver so I can hook up my PHP pages to speak with the Oracle database. I've managed to do my applicaiton with postgres and mysql, just Oracle to do.
Can anyone provide me with the steps I need to make to get the OCI8 driver installed? I don't really want to install my server again, is thera way I can chnage the PHP.ini and httpd.conf files and install the OCI8 driver without rebuilding?
    thanks

If you have the pear/pecl utilities, you might find a 'pecl install oci8' works. If you hit problems, try downloading oci8 1.3.4 from http://pecl.php.net/package/oci8/, extract it and cd to the directory, run "phpize", "./configure --with-oci8=instantclient,/path/to/instclient/libs" and "make". Move the oci8.so to your extension directory (see your php.ini) and enable oci8 with extension=oci8.so in your php.ini.
This is it in brief. Ping back if this + other standard install doc doesn't get you going.

    Rajendra/Fredrik,
I am almost sure that these kind of problems comes, because you had some thing left over in your system from the past installations. The best and only supported way to deinstall an Oracle 9i Application Server is to deinstall using the respective Oracle Universal Installer. After the de-installation if there are remnants of Oracle on your system you can follow the steps 2-6 to cleanup the system. In certain cases it is easier to deinstall manually. But to make sure the proper manual deinstall, one has to follow the steps mentioned below.
    1. Stop all Oracle NT services. Before one could delete the files in Oracle Home, the user has to make sure that all the services associated with that particular Oracle Home is stopped. To get the services, navigate through Start - Settings - Control Panel - Services. This will list all the active services. Select the services associated with this particular Oracle Home and stop them all, one by one. Most of the Oracle Services contain the word Oracle in the service name. So it is easy to find the Oracle services.
    2. Delete Oracle Home(s). This should be done only after performing step 1. Here we are taking the assumption that all the files get installed to Oracle Home. This manual deinstall steps may not be suitable for products getting installed outside Oracle Home.
    3. Delete Oracle Directory in Program Files.
Delete the directory and all it's files created under C:\Program Files\Oracle.
    4. Delete the Registry entries. To edit the registry, run the program "regedit.exe". Expand the tree a) Delete the ORACLE key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SOFTWARE
    b) Delete the registry entries associated with the Win NT Services created by Oracle 9i Application Server. They are under
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SYSTEM - ControlSet001 -Services
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SYSTEM - ControlSet002 -Services
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - SYSTEM - CurrentControlSet -Services
All the NT services are listed here. As mentioned above, most of the Oracle Services contain the word Oracle in the service name.
    5. Delete the path variables created. In Win NT, this can be done by right clicking "My Computer" and select properties. This will open a window called "System Properties"
Select the Environment tab and update the PATH variable to remove the Oracle Home entry or any other entries created for the Oracle 9i Application Server Product you are deinstalling.
    6. Finally restart the machine. This is very much required if any NT services are deleted.
Hope this would help you in your future attempts!
    Thanks,
    Mercy

  • Any 64 bit OS users with Apache XAMPP successfully installed?

Long story short I was following the tutorial for Setting up a PHP development environment for Dreamweaver, following the instructions for XAMPP for windows
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_php.html
I have a 64 bit Windows box.And indeed another 64 bit user has posted in the comments on that tute, the same error
The error in XAMPP control panel  says XAMPP Component Status Check failure,  Current directory c:\xampp, run this program only from your XAMPP root  directory, despite the fact that I am running XAMPP from C:\xampp
Googling that particular error leads to an Apache Friends forum thread where the users all have in common 64 bit systems.
    http://www.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=44320
In addition it appears that the readme for XAMPP 1.7.4 says
    64 MB RAM (RECOMMENDED)
+ 350 MB free fixed disk
+ Windows NT, 2000, 2003, XP (RECOMMENDED), VISTA
+ Only 32 Bit (NOT for 64 bit systems)
I  did not disable User Access Control before I installed XAMPP and I proceeded with all the  setup of a PHP development environment, and installed WordPress, not  noticing that I had an error that seems to effect 64 bit systems
I have since disabled UAC & rebooted but  XAMPP but I still get, run this program only from your XAMPP root  directory
The readme says no 64 bit. Should I uninstall  everything & start over, hoping that disabling UAC before installing  XAMPP is the fix, or switch to a 32 bit laptop, which I really hate to  do, as desktop is where all my applications reside.
My post on Apache Friends forum is getting no answers despite one of the Apache Friends experts claiming the solution is in this thread, where there is some talk of Skype being an issue, however I have never installed Skype on this system
    http://www.apachefriends.org/f/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=44320
I  have this in my XAMPP log file
[Thu May 26 21:25:50 2011] [notice] Child 4920: Starting thread to listen on port 443.
[Thu May 26 21:25:50 2011] [notice] Child 4920: Starting thread to listen on port 80.
    and the last entry is
Sat May 28 00:13:12 2011] [notice] Child 3032: Starting thread to listen on port 443.
[Sat May 28 00:13:12 2011] [notice] Child 3032: Starting thread to listen on port 80.
One of the posters on the error thread claims that XAMPP 1.7.3 worked fine on a 64 bit system

The solution is to install the previous version 1.7.3, rather than 1.7.4. I can't speak to XAMPP vs. WAMP, as I wanted to stick with XAMPP because I was following the tutorial
Setting up a PHP development environment for Dreamweaver
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setup_php.html
    XAMPP 1.7.3 Available here
    http://www.oldapps.com/xampp.php?old_xampp=46#sysreq
    Windows 2000
    Windows XP Professional
    Windows 7 (Recommended)
    64 MB RAM (recommended)
64-bit versions of Windows systems are also supported
I want to add that I had disabled User Access Control prior, in case that is part of the success story puzzle

  • [SOLVED] Apache / PHP new install - sessions not working

    Hi,
So I've just installed Apache and PHP from extra repository using pacman, everything seems to be working fine except PHP sessions!
I'm testing this using 2 files, file 1 stores a variable into $_SESSION, file2 tries to access it - without success.
I've chmoded the /tmp directory to 777. I've tested storing files in /tmp via PHP - which works.
I've gone through the php.ini and online documentation and am at a loss - somebody, anybody, any ideas??
    File1:
    session_start();
    $_SESSION['test']='hi';
    var_dump($_SESSION);
    File2:
    session_start();
    var_dump($_SESSION);
I'm accessing both the files in the same browser (Chromium) in different tabs as localhost/file1.php,file2.php
    Thanks,
    Jeremy

  • Problem with PHP 5 installed using FMS Apache 2.2.

    Hi There,
To keep things "simple" on my server, I made the decision to install PHP using the Apache 2.2 install that ships with Adobe FMS 4.5.  After manually installing PHP, and seeing how it changed the httpd.conf in the Apache 2.2 conf/ directory, my browser just hangs or tells me that a connection cannot be made when I point it to a PHP script.  The site will server up .html pages just fine.
Here are the lines that the PHP installer added to the httpd.conf file:
#BEGIN PHP INSTALLER EDITS - REMOVE ONLY ON UNINSTALL
    PHPIniDir "C:/PHP/"
    LoadModule php5_module "C:/PHP/php5apache2_2.dll"
    AddHandler application/x-httpd-php .php
#END PHP INSTALLER EDITS - REMOVE ONLY ON UNINSTALL
One would think that is all that is needed, but seems like it is not. I have double checked that the .dll file is, in fact, at C:\PHP, and it is.  What's the deal Adobe?  Can I use your bundled install of Apache 2.2 and a manual install of PHP together?

  • Personal Web Sharing Hangs on Startup - Apache never installed?

    Hello.
When clicking start in the Sharing System Pref for Personal Web Sharing nothing happens.
The checkbox dims and it forever says "Web Sharing starting up..."
I went to console to look at console.log and saw this each time I attempted to start up Web Sharing:
httpd: could not open document config file /System/Library/WebObjects/Adaptors/Apache/apache.conf
/usr/sbin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started
The interesting thing is, I have no directory /System/Library/WebObjects/
Is it possible that I never installed apache when I installed Tiger?
    Powerbook G4 (15-inch FW800)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi--
I haven't changed this file at all. I do use fink and
have installed many packages. Perhaps it messed
around with this file (although that seems unlikely)?
Look in your regular Apache config file. Look for an "Include" line for that file there:
<pre class="command">grep WebObjects /etc/httpd/httpd.conf</pre>If it's there, just edit that file to add a "#" to the beginning of that line:
<pre class="command">#Include /System/Library/WebObjects/Adaptors/Apache/apche.conf</pre>My guess is that something installed by Fink added that line: it's not in the default.

  • CF8/JRun4 Cluster for Load Balancing

Does anyone have an example of how to set up a CF8/JRun4
    cluster for load balancing?
    I have three servers:
    x004 - Linux - Apache2 (10.0.0.54,10.1.0.54)
    x020 - Linux - JRun4/CF8 (10.0.0.70,10.1.0.70)
    x021 - Linux - JRun4/CF8 (10.0.0.71,10.1.0.71)
Every server in our network has two network cards. One
network card is attached to 10.0.x.x which has a gateway to the
internet and runs at 100Mbps and is firewalled, and the other is
attached to 10.1.x.x which runs at 1Gbps and is internal with no
gateway. I'm trying to set it up so web traffic arrives on
10.0.0.54 into Apache and mod_jrun20 bootstraps a cluster named
STST using 10.1.0.54 which consists of STST_x020 coldfusion server
running on x020 and STST_x021 running on x021. I want the
communications between JRun4 on x020 and x021 to occur on the
10.1.x.x network and eventhough JRun and ColdFusion will only use
the 10.1.x.x network I still need the 10.0.x.x network card
attached for other purposes which require a gateway. I have
installed JRun4/CF8 about 10 times already and it seems I have no
control over what network JRun4 clusters on... sometimes it will
communicate on one, sometimes the other and without being able to
set which network is being used there always seems to be "network
error" on at least one of the two CF8 servers. I was able to get
everything working fine by disabling the network cards on the
10.0.x.x network and re-installing everything... but as soon as I
added the network cards back the whole thing was broken again.
How is this supposed to work? Most of the examples are either
no clustering or clustering on the same machine with Apache running
on the same box... I don't see any clustering across machines
    examples.
How do I install a connector on a web server which doesn't
have JRun on it and get wsconfig to connect to a multi-machine
cluster when wsconfig only accepts a single IP address as a host
and the cluster is not listed?
How do I get JRun to bind to a specific network card?
Does this work if I choose a J2EE server other than JRun?
Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. I'm
getting close to giving up which means staying on the non-clustered
environment and figuring out how we can deal with scalability by
    switching to something else.

    The article at
    http://www.adobe.com/go/1e8e9170
is specific to configuring two or more cluster nodes that reside on
separate networks, e.g. 10.0.1.0/24 and 10.0.2.0/24. (The article
doesn't state it, but you can only use unicast peers if your
cluster nodes host a single instance of JRun or multiple instances
of JRun in the same cluster domain. When performing unicast
discovery, JRun looks for all Jini groups and not just the cluster
    group.)
Anyhow, that's not your problem. The simplest solution is you
    haven't enabled the jrun.servlet.jrpp.JRunProxyService service. I'm
most familiar with the Windows version of JRun, but I'm assuming
the directory structure is similar across platforms. In
    <jrun_root>/servers/<name>/SERVER-INF/jrun.xml, set the
    deactivated attribute of the jrun.servlet.jrpp.JRunProxyService
service to false and restart JRun. You should now see JRun
listening on the appropriate port. (The default for the first
manually created instance is 51000.) You can limit the proxy
service to a single interface using the interface attribute.
If you have enabled the proxy service, verify your security
    settings in <jrun_root>/lib/security.properties. It's usually
best to limit access to specific hosts. Comment out the
jrun.subnet.restriction parameter and set the jrun.trusted.hosts to
the IP address of your web server, e.g. 10.1.0.54.
Forcing all JRun processes/services to listen on a single
interface isn't difficult, but it does require modifying quite a
few configuration files by hand. If you need assistance with that,
    I can elaborate.
Configuring the JRun module under Apache is pretty
straightforward. If you're not using virtual hosts, it's very
simple. If you are using virtual hosts, it's still simple, but your
JRun configuration can be virtual host-specific.
On your Apache server, you'll want to create a directory
structure for the JRun module. I'll assume
/opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1, but you can use anything you want. Once
the directory structure is created, extract the appropriate JRun
module from wsconfig.jar to the new directory. You're most likely
interested in the Apache 2.0 module,
    wsconfig.jar/connectors/apache/intel-linux/prebuilt/mod_jrun20.so.
Let's assume you've extracted the module to
    /opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun20.so. Your Apache service account
should have read, write, and execute permissions on the
    /opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1 directory.
The JRun module configuration is normally appended to your
current httpd.conf file by wsconfig. Here's a sample configuration:
    LoadModule jrun_module
    "/opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1/mod_jrun20.so"
    <IfModule mod_jrun20.c>
    JRunConfig Verbose false
    JRunConfig Apialloc false
    JRunConfig Ssl false
    JRunConfig Ignoresuffixmap false
    JRunConfig Serverstore
    "/opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1/jrunserver.store"
    JRunConfig Bootstrap 10.1.0.70:51000
#JRunConfig Errorurl <optionally redirect to this URL on
    errors>
    #JRunConfig ProxyRetryInterval 600
    #JRunConfig ConnectTimeout 30
    #JRunConfig RecvTimeout 30
    #JRunConfig SendTimeout 30
AddHandler jrun-handler .jsp .jws .cfm .cfml .cfc .cfr
    .cfswf
    </IfModule>
You may also want to update your DirectoryIndex directive
with an appropriate index page, e.g. index.cfm.
After the first request to a page handled by the JRun module
is received, the module will query the boostrap server,
10.1.0.70:51000, for a list of cluster peers. If you've configured
your cluster correctly, a line similar to following will be written
    to /opt/jrun/lib/wsconfig/1/jrunserver.store:
    proxyservers=10.1.0.70:51000;10.1.0.71:51000
You can create/edit this file manually as well.
Unfortunately, the bootstrap option only accepts one server. If
your bootstrap server is down, the JRun module will use the values
in jrunserver.store directly, if the file exists.
Here's a complete list of JRun module options:
    metrics *
    debugger *
    ssl *
    verbose
    traceflags
    serverstore
    bootstrap
    errorurl
    apialloc
    ignoresuffixmap
    proxyretryinterval
    connecttimeout
    recvtimeout
    sendtimeout
    sslcalist
Options flagged with an asterisk can only be configured at
the Apache server level. All other options can be configured at the
server level and/or the virtual host level. The usage of these
options is in the JRun documentation, and the JRun module source
code is included in wsconfig.jar. Keep in mind that versions of the
JRun module shipped prior to ColdFusion 8 were coded to assign the
connecttimeout and sendtimeout options to the socket connection
timeout. Whichever option appeared last in your configuration ended
up as the final value. This has been fixed in ColdFusion 8 and
presumably the next release of the JRun updater.
I think that's a good start. If you need more information or
can't find what you need in the JRun or ColdFusion documentation,
    let me know.
If you're looking for resiliency, I highly recommend
expanding your configuration to include a second web server and a
hardware load-balancer (preferably one that supports redudancy via
multiple paths and devices, e.g. devices from Cisco, F5, or Foundry
Networks). Often, however, running Apache on the ColdFusion
server(s) provides adequate performance, and round-robin DNS
records coupled with the ability to update DNS quickly in the event
of a failure may be all you need for load-balancing and
    failover.

Could use similar assistance with our CF8 Standard upgrade.
I have spent a week trying to upgrade our dedicated server
from CFMX7 to CF8 with no success. I submitted an Adobe support
request ticket (Case #0180044098) about five days ago, but am still
waiting for them to help me resolve the problem. Thought I would
post this in case someone can offer assistance while I am waiting
    for the Adobe school solution.
Our server configuration is as follows:

Here is what I have done most recently:
    (1) Uninstalled CF8 (for about the fourth time).
    (2) Deleted /opt/coldfusionmx7 and /opt/coldfusion8
    directories.
    (3) Restarted Apache, ensured the httpd-devel version of
    Apache was installed.
    (4) Reinstalled CF8 (for about the 5th time); it is running
and appears to have installed successfully (except for Apache
    connectors).
    (5) Modified
    /opt/coldfusion8/bin/connectors/apache_connector.sh as follows:
    ../../runtime/bin/wsconfig \

Although everything appears to have installed correctly, our
server and website will still not recognize or process .cfm files.
So I am still unable to even access CF8 Administrator and our site
will not process Coldfusion files, just asks me, "Do you want to
save this file, or find a program online to open it?"
Never had any problems with CFMX7 install or operation, so
    this is most disconcerting.
I am not a happy camper.
Any suggestions while I am waiting for my Adobe customer

    Thanks.

  • Cannot launch CF8 update1 on leopard

Clean install of CF8 update 1 on Leopard. Trying to get it to
work with the Apache version already installed with OSX 10.5.2.
Once installer is done the installer gives a message that the
coldfusion service is not running, the web server connectors did
not install successfully etc etc. I made sure that the apache
connectors were set as described in the installation guide. Trying
to launch the service from the terminal also fails.
The cfserverlog has the follwing entries:
    /Applications/Coldfusion8/bin/coldfusion: line 59:
    /Applications/ColdFusion8/runtime/bin/coldfusion8: Bad CPU type in
    executable
I have spend a whole day trying every possible combination on
the CF installer with the same results. Very disappointing since we
have been waiting for the "leopard" CF version to come around and
    yet same issues as before.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

OK, I just uninstalled/reinstalled CF8 to make sure I had
    this right.
    I am installing CF 8.0.1 64-bit on OS X 10.5.2 on a 2.4 GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo Macbook Pro.
    Install CF as Server
Setup connector to Apache (located at /etc/apache2 for config
    files)
    No RDS
    Don't start at system init
That's it. Install went through successfully and
    configuration assistant came up at
    http://127.0.0.1/CFIDE/administrator

  • Problem when rendering a report in BI Publisher deployed on Apache Tomcat

    Hello for all.
First, I am going to tell you technical specifications about the software where I have deployed BI Publisher:
    1. OS: Windows XP SP3
    2. JDK and JRE: 1.6.0_24

I checked that the url http://localhost:8080/xmlpserver/SubTemplates/sub-template-parameters.rtf would be accesible via Internet Explorer, and It is accesible.
I am glad if you can tell me what could be the cause of the error.

When on the iMac I try 'http://10.0.1.18/~username/' (10.0.1.18 is the local IP address I see under 'Web Sharing: On' on the MacBook) I get "Unable to connect: Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 10.0.1.18."
When on the MacBook I try 'http://10.0.1.5/~username/' (10.0.1.5 is the local IP address I see under 'Web Sharing: On' on the MacBook) I see the default "Your Website Here" page.
It is the same on my iPhone: Using the same local IP addresses and usernames, Safari can see the index.html page on my iMac but not on my MacBook.
It looks as if Apache is not working on the MacBook, while on the iMac it works fine.
On the MacBook I can see (after I use 'defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE' in Terminal) a /private/etc/apache2/ directory with what look to be(?) the usual contents. So it looks like Apache is duly installed, as far as I can tell.
On the MacBook I don't see a file at /private/var/log/apache2/error_log, which is the location for 'ErrorLog' given in the httpd.conf file.
That about exhausts my understanding of how to get a handle on my problem.
Any advice or suggestions from those who have more expertise with Apache will be much appreciated ...

Okai, so we are getting somewhere, but not quit there yet :-)
I opened the Kenneth.conf file using the command: vi Kenneth.conf
    This is what it said:
    <Directory "/Users/Kenneth/Sites/">
    Options Indexes Multiviews
    AllowOverride AuthConfig Limit
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    </Directory>
    "Kenneth.conf" [readonly] 6L, 139C
I therefore changed the AllowOverride from AuthConfig Limit to None, which was the only difference from what you posted above. Something did change, when I tried to open XAMPP it prompted me a password, but Apache still wont start :-/

  • Installing Flex SDK into Flash Builder 4.7 problems

    Hi,
Im completely new to Flash Builder, today I have installed Flash Builder 4.7 & Flash CS6 from Creative Cloud for my son to start to learn game programming (with my help), I have used simple coding in web design however this terminology is new to me.
I bought my son the latest 'Foundation Game Design with ActionScript 3.0' book on recommendation but it was written when FB was version 4.5 so im guessing this might be the problem.
The book is very easy to follow but have hit problems at the beginning of the tutorials, the book talks about Flex SDK but it seems that FB 4.7 uses AIR SDK ?
So the first project called HelloWorld, we got up to:
Got an exclamation mark which said
'The import flash.display.Sprite is not used
    locally'
Continuing with the rest of the project the exclamation mark disappeared:
However on selecting run- Debug we got a blank Flash Player window  ('generate HTML wrapper file' was deselected)
So either we've done something wrong, or the book and FB version are not compatible?
    Any advice would be great!
    Thank you
    Latest ...
I thought that installing Flex SDK may solve the problem but after following instructions I have the error message, see image below. Really stumped now!

Sorry, if I went a little overboard. After re-reading your post, perhaps I should back up a little.
First, there are little things that Flash Builder (FB) will complain about. Having extra import statements in your code doesn't hurt anything. If I'm trying different solutions and then commenting out the code, the import statements will hang around, FB will complain, but just ignore it. If you see a little icon on the left edge of your code editor and its a red circle with an X in it, then that is something that will have to be fixed.
When you create an app in FB or Flash you can choose to create a web app which means it will run in a browser window. The project can optionally create an HTML wrapper, or web page that will load your app. In Flash Pro you can choose File->Publish Settings and there will be a checkbox on the left to publish a HTML wrapper. In FB, you can right click your project in the Package Explorer, select Properties at the bottom, select the ActionScript Compiler, and down at the bottom there will be a checkbox to create a HTML wrapper.
If you're just learning Flash Builder, then the FlexSDK 4.6 and the AIR SDK 3.1 that comes with it should be fine. You mentioned Apache SDK and I'd recently been working with that so I ended up getting side-tracked.
Getting an AIRSDK to work with when build ActionScript projects is easy. Just go to the adobe site, type AIR SDK in the search box, and you should find a page that will let you downloaded the latest version. There's also a page to let you download the latest AIR runtime, and if you were just going to run AIR apps and not build them, then that's all you would need. As a developer you'll want to install the runtime from the downloaded .exe file. With the SDK, after downloading it, installing it is easy. Just create a new folder an unzip the SDK into it, then place it somewhere easy to find. I put all my SDK's in their own directory right off the c: drive. So I have c:\AIRSDK_3.5.0.880 and c:\AIRSDK_3.7.0.1530. I use very descriptive folder names so I always know which SDK's I have to work from.
To use the SDK in Flash Pro select Help -> Manage AIR SDK, hit the plus button and add the folder you created. Now when you've opened a Flash project, you go to File->Publish Settings and select the combo box at the top, you'll see options like 'AIR 3.7.0.1530 for Android' in the list that reflect the SDK's you've added.
Generally with FB you'll be using a FlexSDK, or perhaps a FlexSDK overlaid with a newer version of AIRSDK. Overlaid basically means you copied the contents of the AIR SDK into the Flex Folder. The article I mentioned above will give you all the details on creating those. For instance, I downloaded the Apache Flex installer, installed it, then created an empty folder called c:\ApacheFlexSDK_4.9.1, launched the Apache installer, gave it the new empty folder I'd created, selected all the download options, and let it all download. If it launches a popup box or a security warning, you can allow it, and it will continue. Once you have the SDK and you want to use it with a project in FB, just right click the project, select Properties, selected that Compiler tab again, and up in the right corner you'll see 'Manage SDK's...'. Hit that link, add your new SDK to the list and give it a descriptive name, then selected the checkbox beside it to set it up as your default. If you do this, then all your projects set to use the default will automatically switch to it and rebuild. So if you want a project to stay with a specific SDK then select that option in your Compiler tab, and then you could use the combo box to select your new added SDK.
When I started with FB I think I spent the first 2 days going round and round with project settings and options until I got them all figured out.
When I develop, I usually have my browser open and I have bookmarks and favorites to let me quickly get to all the pages I use most often. Here are a few of them:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/index.html  <---- The API reference. In the packages window check out 'Top Level' at the top and Language Elements near the bottom. I think I have this page open in one or more tabs almost every day.

Ok, I think I went a little overboard again.
