How to use HTML and Java Script files in Portal
Hi,
I am trying to access a web application using iViews. My application contains JSP,HTML,Servlets,JS(java script), image files. I am using JSPDynPro to access the JSP files and I am putting servlets in the private/lib folder of the PORTAL-INF dir of Portal project. Now my problem is almost all the JSP files uses the HTML files, JS files and image files. Where can put these files in the portal project dir structure to give access to the JSP files when i am creating a iView for the JSPDynPro componenets in the irj.
thanks,
AshokHi,
JSPDynpage is the controller, one JSPDynpage can call more than one jsp file according to the coding. Through the JSPDynpage's setJspName() function only you can display a jsp page.
EX:
public void doProcessBeforeOutput() throws PageException {
this.setJspName("logon.jsp");
if you put the JSPDynpage in the src.core then the JSPDynpage can be accessed only by this application.
if you put the JSPDynpage in the src.api then other applications can access this component.
You can put the jsp pages in the pagelet folder.

Someone suggested to go to firefox > options> content > and then there is supposed to be a button that enables Java Script. It is not there. Where did it go, please? The cookies problem I have no idea how to address. Have not gotten past the Java Script problem yet. I have updated Java many, many times in the past couple of months at the suggestion of Avast.
You can check on the <b>about:config</b> page if the javascript.enabled pref is set to true.
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config
You can try basic steps like these in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
*Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
*Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and the cookies from websites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Clicking a htmlb:button via Java Script
Hi all!
I would like to 'click' a htmlb:button via Java Script.
Example with a html-button:
<htmlb:button id="b1" onClientClick="javascript:document.form_id['b2'].click()" text="Call Button 2"/>
<input id="b2" type="button" onclick="alert('2')">
Does anybody have an idea how it works with a htmlb:button?
Thanks!
Stefan
Message was edited by: Stefan KittsteinerHi Stefan,
Use this
<script>
function submit()
return htmlbSL(this,2,'b2:b2Click');
</script>
<htmlb:button id="b1" onClientClick="javascript:submit()" text="Call Button 2" />
<htmlb:button id="b2" onClientClick="alert('I am clicked')" text="Button 2" />
b2Click is server event for button 'b2'.
You can also use <bsp:htmlbEvent> for more details see weblog <a href="/people/brian.mckellar/blog/2004/07/18/bsp-in-depth-using-the-htmlb-event-system In-Depth: Using the HTMLB Event System</a>

Need flash player 8 and java script enabled to play videos on ipad, need help please.
need flash player 8 and java script enabled on my ipad in order to view videos. please help.
iPads do not directly support Flash.
You can look for Flash Browsers in the App store for some options to try. Support is not 100%, but maybe one may work for you. Browsers like Puffin, Skyfire, Photon etc...
IPads do fully support JavaScript. Just make sure its turned on under Settings->Safari->Advanced->JavaScript.
If you require Java, which is completely different to JavaScript, again there are some browsers in the App store that support it. Search for "Java browsers" in the store. -
I need to apply for a job but I'm told I need to enable cookies and java script, how do I do that? I can't find it in system preferences
I just updated to the new operating system which i'm starting to think was a bad idea, because it reset all my settings and I don't know how to fix them.so when I go to safari>preferences>security>uncheck box labled enable java script links on webpages don't work and pictures and links son't want to appear on websites. this made it so webpages don't want to work past loading the content in text format. I have to check enable java script to go the webpages to work right so images and links work again but when I try to apply for this job the error message pops up saying I need to enable cookies and java script.
SO I GUESS MY QUESTION IS IF JAVA SCRIPT IS ALREADY ENABLED HOW TO I ENABLE COOKIES? -
Where can I download the last version that allows images and java script to be turned off?
Due to my often slow connection I must have the option to turn off "automatically download images" and Java script. Firefox 23 does not have those options. Where can I download version 22 or whatever the latest version is that allowed these options?
ThanksThe Quickimage add-on doesn't work well at all, it gets stuck in the image off mode and will not switch back even after rebooting Firefox. Version 23.0 of Firefox is also very slow on my computer.
I really need to find an older version of Firefox. Any idea where to download version 22 or earlier? -

WebEnterprise - HTML Editors and Java
I'd like to know any opinions on HTML editors and their use with
WebEnterprise. Have any of you done
evaluations to determine the best editor to use with the Forte product? Also,
do you have experience using
a Java applet as the front-end to a Forte service object? In this instance,
are you able to do so with Forte 30f2 and
WebSDK?
Thanks,
Peggy Adrian
Eli Lilly and CompanyPeggy,
FrontPage 97 / 98 have both worked really well for us, however we
discovered a slight hitch with 98 where the Editor would gobble up
<?FORTE ..> tags inside the SELECT OPTION tag, but you can work around
that one, apart from this FP98 is a great HTML editor. I also thought
HotMetal was a good fit.These observations come out of evaluating about
5-6 leading HTML editors.
Some recommended steps in the process:
1) Create a prototype by laying out all the HTML using an Editor. Figure
out all the navigation within your web. More recent features seen in
HTML editors such as JavaScript generation and DHTML / CSS support are
really difficult to work out on your own, let the advanced Editors do as
much dirty work for you as poss.
2) Once the prototype is finalized, for all the pages requiring any
dynamic content generation, figure out all the Tag Handlers you will
need. Change the HTML Content by inserting the FORTE tags as required,
code the corresponding Handlers.
3) Figure out the relation between page requests and the security
requirements for your pages, design the Session properties and data
tracing across requests using the Session object.
4) Do refer to all the Tech Notes on the Forte web site for known
issues.
As for the Java applets frontend, we have used Java - IIOP - Forte since
early beta through every Forte release (3.0.X) and it works fine with
WebEnterprise and release 30f2.

Problem with Html field naming and java script
Java Script which references html fields uses the
notation "document.form[0].field". JATO generates field names which
include the page (view bean). A dot is placed between viewbean name and
field name(viewbean.field). However "document.form[0].viewbean.field"
doesn't work as a reference. I'm not a java script person. Am I
missing something?that's correct. You can use the below code for AJAX request.
<script type="text/javascript">
var httpObject = getHTTPObject();
//create XMLHttpRequest object
function getHTTPObject() {
var xmlhttp;
if (window.XMLHttpRequest) // if Mozilla, Safari etc
xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest();
else if (window.ActiveXObject){ // if IE
try {
xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Msxml2.XMLHTTP");
catch ( e ){
try{
xmlhttp = new ActiveXObject("Microsoft.XMLHTTP");
catch ( e ){}
return xmlhttp;
//define the function to send the request
function sendRequest(){
var currDesc = document.getElementById("description").value;
var URL = "manageMaintAction.do"; //action mapping in your struts-config
var queryString = "currDesc="+escape(currDesc); //get the currDesc value in your action class like request.getParameter("currDesc")
httpObject.open( "Post", URL, true );
httpObject.onreadystatechange = cbFn;
httpObject.setRequestHeader( "Content-Type", "application/x-www-form-urlencoded");
httpObject.send(queryString);
//callback fn
function cbFn() {
if (httpObject.readyState == 4)
if (httpObject.status == 200)
var result = httpObject.responseText;
alert(result);

PDF Optimizer and Java Scripts
We have a custom Java Script that is at the bottom of each page of certain PDFs.
The Java Script is setup to print the date on the bottom of each page if a selected PDF is printed to hard copy.
Our problems lies in the fact that after adding the Java Scripts, the PDF optimizer doesn't seem to optimize the PDF at all.
We are still talking about 6MB+ PDF files. When I look at the AUDIT feature in the PDF optimizer, the biggest offender is Fonts.
I have messed around with tons of settings inside of the PDF optimizer and nothing seems to work.
We are using Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.1.0.
Thanks,
BillYou might also look at Adobe's FDF Toolkit.

This is excellent if you just want your users to be able to fill out an html form and put the data values into a PDF document. -
When we run JAVA SCRIPT in window, the GUI display comes out difference from running under UNIX. For example the check boxes show check when running under WINDOW but not in UNIX. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this problem? Thanks in advance for the information.
The browsers are generally optimized for specific platform, hence the different look-and-feel. But I find it hard to believe that checkboxes would show up checked on unix but not on Windows. The only thing I can suggest is to examine the HTML file and see if there is the CHECKED keyword being used where you are not expecting.
