Struts html tag

hi
i have table in each row there is radio button.when i click a radio button it should redirect to another page and the sametime it has to retrieve the row value of selected radio button
please can any one help me in this.i am using struts.i am new to struts

<html:form action="somename" ondbclick="check()">why do you plan to check it on double clicking the html form? what if the user doesn't do a double click?!
Maybe you could check it on the "onblur " event for the textbox. ->
<html:text property="username" onblur="javascript:check();"/>If you are unsure about how to work on the javascript function (because I didnt exactly understand your query :) ) then just to get you started...
function check()
         if(document.forms["0"].username.value == "")
             alert("Empty textbox!");
         //put code for checking spaces
}but do a little googling for the rest..
And if I have entirely misread your query, then please clarify...

  • Wls 8.1 sp2: weblogic.jspc complains about struts-html tags

              Hi,
              I am trying to compile jsps with weblogic.jspc, which use struts' html tags. However,
              the compilation fails with the following message:
              [java] Translation of /views/viewPageBody.jsp failed: (line 3): Error in using
              tag library uri='/tags/struts-html' prefix='html': The Tag class 'org.apache.struts.taglib.html.BaseTag'
              has no setter method corresponding to TLD declared attribute 'server', (JSP 1.1
              spec, 5.4.1)
              I opened the BaseTag class from the struts jar and found the setter exists for
              the attribute 'server' of html tld. So does the property 'server'. The property
              'server' is a string and the parameter in the setter is a string. I read about
              the jspc errors in wls 8.1 about the setter parameter being of different type
              than the property. However, that is not the case here. I tried using both Sun's
              and BEA's jdk. None of them help. Btw, there is another attribute mentioned in
              the html tld, which is 'target'. The compiler doesn't complain yet about this.:(
              Also, I happened to compile other apps which have struts logic tags.
              My environment:
              OS: Win2k sp3
              WLS: 8.1 sp2
              JDK: Sun's 1.4.2 sp4 / Bea's 1.4.1 sp5 (tried both)
              Ant: 1.5.3 (I had an issue earlier with ant until I found that Bea officially
              without any mention supports only ant 1.5.3.)
              I would appreciate any help in this regard.
              Thanks,

              What version of Struts are you trying to use?
              Are you certain you're not encountering a different instance of that class in
              an unexpected location in your classpath?

  • Action listener for struts html tag

    hi i am doing a project using sturts. I have used struts HTML Select tag with a collection of values in select box. now i want to write an actionlistner for that select...ie if i select any value from the select list it should do some action like take me to different page...can anyone tell me how can i do that...
    Thanks

    Soultech, I think you're being a bit harsh. Struts is a valid topic on this forum as it is a java framework related to JSP.
    However having said that, the question does show a basic misunderstanding of JSP technology.
    JSP = Java SERVER Pages. Java code only runs on the server.
    All that gets sent to the client (browser) is an HTML file.
    You can not write java action listeners to run and respond to events on the client.
    For any client side interaction you will have to use javascript (which is NOT java) - probably an onclick/onchange event - the same as any other web page.
    However you can only run javascript code from such events.
    To run java again you have to submit a request to a server - normally done by submitting a form.

    I don't know about that, but I am using MyFaces and tomahawk with WLS8.1 sp5 jdk1.4.2_05 and it works fine.
    I do remember getting such an error when I moved from Sun RI to MyFaces and all I can recall is that it was a commons library mismatch problem or some classpath problem...

  • Displaying struts html tags dynamically

    hello..
    i am displaying the table row dynamically, row contain html elements on clicking the addRowbuutton. with in each row i want to display <html:hidden > element.but
    when i am wrote like ..
    form.innerHTMl="<html:hidden property='channels class' value='"+grouop+"'/>"+group;
    here group is javascript variable
    it throwing some javascriipt .
    please help ..
    thanking u,

    JSP is entirely serverside and Javascript is entirely clientside. Those two languages have nothing, nothing to do with each other.
    The html: taglib can only be parsed serverside. It prints HTML to the output (do a view source in the webpage, you won't see any JSP tags). Javascript can only intercept on the HTML of the output (that source which you've viewed), not on the JSP code. So, passing JSP tags through element.innerHTML is ultimately pointless. Pass plain vanilla HTML through it, not JSP tags.

  • Struts html:form vs form

    Hi,
    I'm trying to get form validation working in struts but am running into a bit of difficulty. I have a couple of questions:
    1) When an ActionError is returned - does the input form have to have used <html:form> tags for the errors to be shown. The reason i ask is because at the moment i am using the original <form> tags and when the request is returned to the input page there is just a blank page - i though this might be because i am not using the specialised struts html tags? This leads nicely on to my 2nd question... :o)
    2)Now the reason i am not using these tags is because when i try and create a form using these tags the text input areas/buttons etc do not appear - here is my code:

  • How to use form name in struts html:form tag

    Hi,
    I want to validate text box value, if it is ordinary html form I would have done like this <form name="myform" action="xxxx.jsp" onsubmit="return validate()">
    But am using struts html:form tags. In this case how can I use/specify name for a form.
    Can any one help me.
    Thanks

    The name of the form comes from the actionForm you have defined backing it.
    View source on the generated page to see what HTML it constructs.
    You are able to use the onsubmit event with the <html:form> tag just like the standard one, so if all you want to do is that:
    <html:form action="/saveUser" onsubmit="return validate()">
    ...You can also give it a styleId, which will generate an id in the HTML.
    See the tag documentation for details: http://struts.apache.org/1.2.x/userGuide/struts-html.html#form

  • Query on struts html:optionsCollection tag !

    Hi,
    I've a query on struts <html:optionsCollection tag. I'm trying to render the values of an arraylist using the optionsCollection . The arraylist is stored as a part of form object. But the issue is that each row of arraylist contains a string data. The arraylist is returned by a remote process.Now, when I use the following struts code,
    <html:select property="userProxy" size="1" >
    <html:optionsCollection property="userProxy" value="" label=""/>
    </html:select>
    what shud be the value for value and label , as the arraylist contains only one string per row . The userProxy is the arraylist field defined in the form object.
    My question, will I be able to use the <html:optionsCollection tag in this scenerio ?
    I'll really appreciate if someone can get back to me on this.
    Thnx

    The html:optionsCollection tag is designed to work with a collection of beans, each with a "label" and "value" attribute.
    If you only have a list of strings, then you probably want to use the html:options tag.
    Note that your ActionForm should have two attributes
    // form bean"
    String userProxy;  //stores the currently selected userProxy
    List userProxyList;  //list of userProxies.
    // assume appropriate get/set methods
    // the jsp page:
    <html:select property="userProxy" size="1" >
      <html:options property="userProxyList"/>
    </html:select>Cheers,

  • Struts portlet Instance Label problem: Appending the html tags in jsp

    I have created a struts portlet and given it a Instance Label. I have used struts-adapter-html.tld tld in my jsp which is referenced by my struts portlet. But the problem with using this taglib is that the portlet Instance Label is appended to all the html tags on the JSP as a result of which when the page is submitted, formbean will not pick any of the values as the name will not match. Has anyone has faced this kind of problem? How can I prevent the appending of the HTML tags with the portlet Instance Label?
    Please help me overcome this problem..
    Thanks in Advance ...

    1. To begin with, I would not recommend NOT to append portlet instance label to html tags. This is very much required. Take atleast 2 scenarios. If you dropped 2 instances for Same Portlet like News/Articles portlet etc on same page, you need to identify the html fields uniquely for each portlet so that backend java code works properly. Also if you have 2 different portlets assuming you did not give any name to form tag, and if you have html tags with same name, you need to identify them. Remember when portal or desktop is rendered, it is one big html file with html fragmetns from all .portlets files. So I am not sure if there is any option at all, to avoid the appending of instance label value to html tags.
    2. Coming to your usecase, I did had this problem once in 8.1 SPxx long back. All we did was, in the back end code, using BackingFile we could get the intance label value of the portlet. We can get this in pageflow also. Then pass this value and manually append this value to the html field of interest. In your case looks like you have Struts and tld tags. See somehow if you can get portlet instance label in jsp file and pass around to your tag lib code in request parameters etc. This is just one idea. I am not fully aware of your code, so try something along these lines.

    <td>
    <c:out value="${bindings['TitleLang1'].label}"/>
    </td>
    <td>
    <html:text property="TitleLang1"/>
    </td>
    </tr>
    HTML output:
    <tr>
    <td>
    Short Title Language 1
    </td>
    <td>
    <input type="text" name="TitleLang1" value="Preliminary Demo">
    </td>
    </tr>
    case 2)
    JSP code:
    <tr>
    <td>
    <c:out value="${bindings['TitleLang1'].label}"/>
    </td>
    <td>
    <input type="text" name="<c:out value='${bindings.TitleLang1.path}'/>" value="<c:out value='${bindings.TitleLang1}'/>"/>
    </td>
    </tr>
    HTML output:
    <tr>
    <td>
    Short Title Language 1
    </td>
    <td>
    <input type="text" name="VB_TitleLang1" value="Preliminary Demo"/>
    </td>
    </tr>
    Case 1 generated code is obvious to me, the html name of the field equals the field binding id.
    In Case 2, the VB_ prefix is added and the binding variable references bindings.fieldName.path?
    Could someone explain me the second flavor?
    When should we use the path reference and replace the Struts html:text tag with html input tag?
    Thanks
    Fred

    I dont think you can mix static values and rt expressions together in attribute values.
    String onBlurString = "dontLeaveItEmpty(this);referenceEntered(" + recordNumber + ")" ;
    html:text styleClass="textFieldInTable" name="refrences" property="referenceName" onblur="<%=onBlurString%>" />cheers,

  • Struts bean/html tag problem

    i am writing this url_element on screen
    <bean:write name="url_element"/>
    then i got a link
    <html:link action="urlDetail.do?url=???">aaa</html:link>
    how can i transfer the url_element into ??? do i need to write something like <%...%>?

    just found the solution:
    You can't use a <bean:write> tag inside an <html:link> tag. Struts doesn't support it.
    The easiest way to fix this is to abandon use of <html:link> and just use the plain old html tags <a></a>. Then you will have no problem substituting parameters with <bean:write> tags.
    The only advantage <html:link> has over the plain html tag is that it automatically does URL rewriting (Adding of the jsessionid to the URL so that sessions may be tracked even if the user has turned cookies off). If you're not using this function anyway, as most modern websites don't, you may as well use the html tag.
    If you still want to use <html:link>, use the struts-el version of the html tags and use EL expressions instead of <bean:write> tags.

  • Struts html:iterate tag

    Hello all,
    Does anyone know if the struts html:iterate tag can be used to iterate through an ArrayList? Can you populate a html:radio tag with such an iterator?
    If anyone has code examples of these, they would be MOST appreciated!
    Thank you!

    I have an ArrayList object that contains a collection of Listing objects.
    The Listing object has two methods getID, getName
    In the ActionForm there is a variable listingData of List type. How can I use the logic:iterate tag to traverse the ArrayList object and display the id and name of the ListingObjects?
    What has to be added in the logic:iterate tag below?
    <table>
    <logic:iterate id="listingForm" name="listingForm" property="listingData">
    <tr>
    <td>
    // Here I want to output the value of ids
    </td>
    <td>
    // Here I want to output the value of names
    </tr>
    </logic:iterate>
    </table>Do I need a nested logic:iterate tag?
    Should the ArrayList be populated with a J2SE class rather than a business object, i.e. the Listing class?

  • Unable to Load struts-html-el Tags

    Hello, I downloaded the struts-html-el-1.2.8.tld and dropped it in my Elipse workspace under the WebContent/WEB-INF/tld directory where other struts-html.tld, struts-logic.tld, etc. are.
    In my JSP, I have
    <%@ taglib uri="http://struts.apache.org/tags-html-el" prefix="html-el"%>where http://struts.apache.org/tags-html-el is what is given in the struts-html-el-1.2.8.tld.
    Then, I used <html-el:form ...> <html-el:checkbox ...> <html-el:hidden ...> in my JSP. But, I got runtime error: "Unable to load tag handler class org.apache.strutsel.taglib.html.ELFormTag"
    What should I do?

    Where do I find the JAR for the html-el? I could not find it from the Struts framework download.
    What is the URL for tht JAR? Thanks in advance.
