Stupid Phone

Where do I begin?  Well lets start with the most important.  I love that I called and got the global plan activated on my phone, a week before a month long trip to Europe.  I get here and my phone doesnt have a lick of service.  I have tried everything I could think of to get this bloody thing working.  I cant get a hold of anyone to help me, one because I dont have a phone to contact them and two the time difference with the "chat" support is killer.  Other than that, this phone is garbage.  It constantly resets, the battery life on it is ****.  All and all this is the worst droid I have ever had, and I enjoyed the previous models by samsung.

  • Is there a way to actaully talk to someone at apple whereby it doesn't cost money? I downloaded an app and now the stupid phone says that there is compass interference and to move away from the interference. Well, I am in the middle of a field. Now what?

    Is there actually a way to talk to a service person at Apple where you don't have to shell out money? I downloaded an app that cost $9.99 and when I tried to use it I get a message that says there is compass interference and to move away from the interference or wave the phone in a figure 8 pattern. Well, now I have a sore arm from constant waving out in the middle of a field and it appears that is going to cost $29 to talk to a person. Does anyone have any idea why this is occuring? As a side note, I can use a normal compass with no issues so it is the phone. From a customer perspective, this is poor customer service.

    First of all, an idle threat is one that a person has no intention of carrying out. In the past 16 months that I have had this phone I have become less and less satisfied and found that it is like much of today's technology....over rated and under performing. The one thing that I have never been accused of is not wanting, or not giving help but when a company makes itself unavailable to resolve issues and leaves it to forums run by users helping users, it speaks more about the company than anything else they could do. As I said, I do not make idle threats and I did not threaten you in any way. Guess I'll call this topic done with as it is not and was not the intent to get a war started    

  • Where can I find deleted reminders lists?  The stupid phone has erase them 3 times out of the blue, anybody else having this problem?

    In the last year I have had an Iphone 4S and the new Reminder app that comes with it.  Three times this phone has just erased Reminders lists I had created.  I thought it was due to being empty or reminders but this week 4 out of five lists disappeared from one moment to the next.  I had entered a couple of reminder in the morning.  When I came back to my office in PM and open the reminder app:  4 lists gone!!  some of them with 3-4 items in them!!
    My other phone a 3GS has deleted some of my "NOTES" in the notes app in the same fashion.  I lost very important phone numbers and lists of passwords from one day to the next and Syncing didn't help that or the Reminder problem.  It looks like a repeating problem in different generations.  I never had these problems in my old Treo and it was not that SMART!!

  • Problem with contract and service not matching... no help by phone or in stores

    My contract says 4gb shared plan, my bill says FamilyShare1400...  15+hours in person and on the phone and lots of promises but the bottom line is I AM NOT IN THE PLAN I CONTRACTED!  My bill has been more expensive, my services deleted and I was charged for what should have been included.  26 January is when this all started.... problems pulling a 'stupid phone' off my account made it impossible to put me into the 4gb shared plan (Excuse #1 - and I've heard many more in the multiple calls to VW)  Every agent makes Promises Promises...  Every agent ASSURES me that they have taken care of it, and it will be corrected - and that they will put notes on the account so anyone looking at it will KNOW what had happened...  Today I'm told that there are NO NOTES!!   I'm ready to walk away from VW - a relationship since the early 1990s means nothing to them.....  How can I get my service straightened out, guaranteed?  How can I get VW to take some responsibility for their inept handling of this customer?  15+hours because VW doesn't do their job is 14.5 hours too long!

  • Droid X2 2.3.4 OTA update does NOT install on my phone

    Hello,
    Today, when I checked for software updates in the settings page of my Motorola Droid X2, it said the 1.3.380.en.US is ready to be applied. I downloaded it and clicked on install once download finished.
    The phone reboots, shows the logo and the progress bar for installing the update and then shows an exclamatory mark. The progress bar also stops. Then the stupid phone reboots and when I unlock it, it says the update has failed.
    This is unacceptable from a smartphone and I am already **bleep**. Firstly, the phone has 10's of issues (music stutters, etc.) and many people complained about it. And Motorola releases this update that is supposed to fix those issues. And now, the update does NOT even install. Why? Please let me know what I am doing wrong. Or is anyone else facing this issue? Do I have a bad phone and should I replace it?

    A very very frustrated Droid X2 owner.

    I can't speak specifically to the DX2, as I have the original DX ... I assume you've tried a Battery Pull ??  Just power it down, remove the battery and leave it out for like 1 minute - reinsert & power up. See if it proceeds with the update ... if not, you'll likely have to do the factory Reset.  If you have data on your SD Card that you want to preserve make sure you don't select "Format SD Card" -- or just remove it entirely before starting the F.R. process.
    If you take it to Verizon or call them, they will likely walk you through, or do, the factory Reset anyway .. And since you seem to have "10's" of issues, this might be the best path for you to take anyway ...  and in fact if it were ME, I would just bite the bullet, allow the Format of the SD Card, and be done with it ..  Of course you'll have to re-download all of your FREE apps after doing so.  And if you can't get the phone to boot up, that in itself can be a challenge because Market won't know about them after you do the F.R. 
    So if you decide to do that, I would go ONLINE to MARKET and write down a list of all your Free Apps before starting the process.

  • Why is my phone so terrible?

    I am really angry. I just got this brand new iphone a few months ago and it is being absolutly terrible. I several questions I'd like answered.
    First, as I was using my iphone, sometimes apps would freeze and close on me. It happened rarely and I didn't worry about it. I thought it was just because they weren't responding, like when a computer closes the internet. But it continued doing this more and more frequently, to all my apps not just internet ones, until most were conpletly unusable. It would crash as soon as you did anything in the app. I know it wasn't memory, I still had half my space left. I literally only have two pages of apps too, most are just the stupid ones you never use but can't delete. So its not like I was over using or working it. I didn't have a single game, or anything really.
    We erased all my settings, not data, and it began working ok again. But now a few weeks later its starting to get sluggish and close apps everyonce and a while again. I found a temporary solution, but its ridiculous that my phone can't handle simple settings and usage and build up of data apparently. It can barely do the things its supposed to do.
    And now lately, when I charge it, sometimes it vibrates constantly while charging. You would think, "Oh, its just a bad charger or the jack is messed up". No. See the weird thing is, it charges normally while vibrating, AND it only does this when it gets to 75-90% ish. Never lower. ***?
    One of the speakers got blown in the first week I had it too. Talk about disappointing. In its defense, I was kind of listening to a loud and harsh song, but really?
    I'm pretty sure all my problems are hardware, and not my fault as its newish, still has lots of memory and no cracked screen and little damage externally. I haven't heard of an iphone being this stupid, especially when you first get it like this, so I'm sure its just rotten luck and I got a bad iphone. I will probably just get it replaced, but I want to see if anyone has any answers that might help with my stupid phone.

    You can try adding an app at a time to see if one of the apps is cousing this.

  • Replacing a feature phone when contract has ended

    If I buy a couple of 'back up' feature phones like Verizon Lg Vx8575 Chocolate, not to add a line or change my service, is it an easy thing to do?
    The reviews on the two feature phones offered on Verizon don't seem to have very good reviews, and I don't care about having a smart phone.  I certainly don't want a data plan.  I fear that Verizon will stop offering stupid phones very soon, and want to know if I can just continue on in my benighted phone world using the same number.  The vendor says the LG chocolate is new and is guaranteed on Amazon.
    Any thoughts?  Or recommendations for a different easy to read/handle phones that are not uhm...Jitterbug?   I'm using an Octane now, and am getting sick of it.  Turns itself off all the time.  Poor reception.  Dropped calls.

        Hey there BessieLil! I'm glad to see you're considering getting a back up device. Activating a Basic function device is actually very easy. If you're within the VZW service area, you need only turn off your current phone, turn on the replacement, call *228, and then select option1. The automated system will walk you through the steps from there.
    I can't say that the LG VX8575 (AKA the Chocolate Touch) that you're looking at may be in new condition (perhaps never owned by another customer), but not new to the market (the model was introduced November 2009). My stepson has one and he's very fond of it (though he's eager to get a smartphone).   • Is there a phone number to speak to a customer service person at RIM?

    I am waiting until 9AM to talk to AT&T about my Blackberry Curve 8520 which stopped receiving e-mails yetserday afternoon but I get the feeling they will tell me I need to speak to Blackberry.
    I have sent service books at least six times, done a hard battery reset a ton of times and did registration with the wireless network a few times as well and am at my wit's end.

    Not sure how long it has been like this, anyone know?

    I have two e-mail accounts I check on my Blackberry, one a Yahoo, the other an att.net.  My service provider is Verizon.  I can send from my device, I cannot receive.  Is this the same problem everyone is experiencing with the outage?  Can you still send but not receive?  At first I could do neither, but I can at least now send, even if it takes a while.  (I can still receive e-mails from both accounts when I log into them from my desktop--that is how I knew it must be a Blackberry problem?)

  • Tried to sync to new itunes and now my phone is stuck in emergency call mod

    Okay, Ive tried for hours and need help! I tried to update my 3G to the new itunes. Since then doing so, im getting an error message that reads "We cannot complete your iTunes store request. The network connection times out." I trouble shooted and followed all the prompts it said to fix the issue, have unplugged and restarted, and now the only thing the stupid phone does is give me the "emergency call" screen! I set it to factory settings before downloading the new software.. Haven't seen another screen for hours! I'm getting frustrated.. Any thoughts? Someone? Please!!!

    You should try to put the phone into Recovery Mode so that iTunes can restore it.
    1. First, make sure that your computer has an active internet connection (you can open the iTunes Music Store and make sure you can navigate around as a way to check your internet connection).
    2. Turn the phone off (hold the top button until the slider appears, then drag the slider).
    3. Hold down the Home (round) button while you connect the USB cable to the iPhone. The USB cable should be connected directly to a good USB port on your computer, not on a USB hub, monitor, or keyboard.
    4. Continue to hold the Home button down until the Recovery Mode screen appears (it looks like this: http://tinyurl.com/mhsje5 )
    5. When you see that screen, release the Home button.
    iTunes should tell you that it has detected an iPhone in Recovery Mode and that you must restore it.
    iTunes will probably give you the option to set it up as a new phone or restore it from a backup. Choose setting it up as a new phone.

  • I changed my yahoo password on the computer, but my phone won't let me change it, so I don't get my e-mail.

    I've had to change my yahoo password on the computer, but now my stupid phone won't receive my mail.  And it won't accept the NEW password that I know to be correct.  Any advice?  I hate this phone!

    I had the same problem when I had my Fascinate.
    The best way to get the password changed and to receive emails is to delete http://vz.to/ZVexiW the email account and readd http://vz.to/15pw16c it to the phone.
    This should get the emails flowing in for you.

    my wife always gets her cell call for work availability while driving. She needs a phone that is hands free and when answered she can respond to the computer talking to her to: . Enter your empoyee # (five digits) . Press 1 to accept the job, 2 to refuse, 3 to ... you get the picture. Like when you call a stupid phone company or store and they run you through upteen menu choices. She needs a phone, an app that will do that part hands free - by voice command while she drives. Please pleasantly surprise us!

    No such animal.  Possibly Siri will be able to do this someday, but not now.
    FYI, the MVA rate for hands free cell phone use in cars is just as high as for hand held...

  • I really feel betrayed by Verizon and this phone

    Not even sure where to start this nightmare, but I can see that I am not the only one.  I am on my second SIM Card and 2nd Nexus and the problems are not better.  I can't make or receive calls consistently with this phone.  Does not matter where I am or if I am driving or sitting stil.  Once a call connects, either outgoing or incomming, the bars all turn grey and its just a matter of minutes and the call drops.  This happens on almost EVERY call.  While I thought Verizon was being helpful, now I find out they were just being deceitful.  Acted as if this was not some ongoing issue, but I see several posts from acorss the country with the same problem, same fixes that don't work and the recommendation to hit ### send after each dropped call.  I can find posts as far back as mid-December.   This phone is great in so many ways, but honestly my overall opinion at this point is that is totally sucks the big one.  Now I am stuck with a phone that can't consististenly be used as a phone.  Verizon has not yet offered me a different phone, but ***, I have bought covers (2), I paid 300 dollars to have ice cream sandwich and I am going to end up with a 300 dollar phone that is basically the same as my Droid X that I replaced with the Nexus.  Should have just kept the Droid X and not upgraded to this stupid phone. Galaxy Nexus you suck and so does Samsung and Google as well.  Verizon is also on my poop list at this point.  After almost 20 years as a customer you try to teat me like an idiot instead of acknowledging the problem.

    As soon as you log into Google services you automatically load your backup. You have to turn it off BEFORE logging into Google. It's a problem here and there with people and they always assume when they go through multiple devices that it's always the phone. When I get a new phone with an OS higher than what I had previously I always turn it off for 2 reasons.
    1. Some apps have not been updated to reflect changes with the OS. Installing these apps may have an adverse effect. Their cache could do the same.
    2. Cache may be corrupted or certain settings may cause conflicts which show up as "bugs" or things not working right.

  • Phone losing charge quickly with minimal use.

    My stupid phone keeps dying after a few hours of not being plugged in. Today it did it and I had only made one very short phone call and used it to read a couple of emails. I haven't used any apps that use a lot of power and I haven't been using it to listen to music at all today. This happens frequently. What gives? I've already done a factory refresh which I regret doing because it didn't fix the problem and, despite running a back-up of the phone before doing a refresh, all of my apps and and music where erased even though I told it to restore my phone's content using the backup file I just created. This is the second 3G I've owned (the first one's ear speaker stopped working and Apple replaced it with this one). The first one never did this. What else could be causing this to happen????

    Since ALL iTunes content on your iPhone should be available in your iTunes library on your computer and all photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone should remain on your computer, all other content on your iPhone is included with your iPhone's backup.
